The oppo 5 get warm/hot so fast - Oppo Find 5

Immediately the device getting warm/hot while web browsing (about 5-10min), the Temperatue goes up to 39/40oC, the half-above screen is so hot, the back area around camera is quite hot too. It makes me stop down evrything to cool it down, so nervous. This is so bad compared to my G.Note2 (it runs quite cool).
Whats about yours ? Have u face similiar situations ? My device is an internatinal version.

I had it once, but this weekend is was playing a 3D game the room. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.FireproofStudios.TheRoom
For pretty long time and it did not get hot.
So I am thinking if this happens it is a software bug. Does yours do this always or sometimes?

i will test one more time, my firmware (out of the box) is 130328 - also the latest one.
I have not installed any apps yet so far, only testing with web browsing (the oppo stock browsing - not the stock android chrome).
I am going to test in android stock chrome browser, and i will report the status after that.

i've missed typing, mine is exactly 328.
But i found 2 broswer, one is Chrome and one is Oppo's style. So i think that Oppo's style browser is the stock and Chrome is the alternative pre-installation.

I don't own one just yet but I have played with one (thanks to a friend) and I can say that it does get a little warm but it doesn't get that hot. It definitely isn't to the levels that my One S currently reaches; which is "ow, why did I touch that" hot.

I've not been experiencing any heat issues, did you buy your device from the official webstore?
In that case you could open a support ticket and get this resolved.

Are there any better full html browsers for other mobile platforms that are significantly better? I don't recall iPhone's browser being significantly faster (natch, as they both use webkit for a core). iPhone scrolls more smoothly but the Android browser doesn't do the annoying checkering if you scroll out of the rendered region.

I'm not talking about the iPhone.
I'm talking about the crap performance of the G1 browser.
And yes, the Android browser should be better. Not the same or worse than any other available web browsers.
Isn't that the POINT of Android?

Well, I think for a full html browser the Android browser is doing a pretty decent job? You should keep in mind that some of the lag associated with loading a page over 3G is due to the lag associated with a wireless air interface. So that fifth of a second will never go away no matter how fast the cpu or how efficient the browser code.
I wasn't trying to say you were talking about the iPhone. Rather, I was trying to establish a context for overall mobile browser performance.
I havent been to happy with it lately...I let it slide for a while thinking it was because I only have EDGE in my area, but i went to Wash-DC a few weeks ago and it still sucked on 3G.
If you have root on your phone, consider Cyanogen's stable build (3.2 at the time of writing). I switched to that from JF's 1.51 and I've noticed a drastic increase in performance in everything (not just the browser). I also have noticed no appreciable degradation in battery performance. I highly recommend it.
You may take my advice with a grain of salt though since your complaint is with the browser performance. I have no data plan so all my net access is done over wifi.
I just got my G1 about a week ago. If it had not been for cyanogen's build, I would have taken the phone back and lived with an iPhone (I don't like software keyboards or Apple).

Cyanogen's ROM's rock.
This latest one is awesome, and smooth.
Just wonder why it wasn't like this out of the box.
I'm hoping to see a Cyanogen version of Hero soon.
I, too, dread using the browser. I use opera mini 9 times out of 10. I find that it takes a minimum of 20-30 seconds to OPEN the stock browser, let alone do anything. Why must it always refresh the page that it was last on when you reopen it? I am always reaching for Menu -> stop.
Recently I set the homepage to about:blank
This helps a little for what it's worth.
Swapper used to work well to help with the browser suck, but it's not yet compatible with cupcake and it definitely had it's quirks
Try Steel. Much faster and better designed in my opinion. The sliders rule. Check out developer's website for beta cupcake version, it rocks.
The only thing that really annoys me is that whole refreshing thing. I look at a text message and then I have to refresh a page it took a minute to load in the first place? Aggrivating, As for overall performance, yes for a full HTML browser on a handheld its pretty damned good. Content heavy pages will always load slower on it and honestly I havent uses a better mobile browser than it (with the exception of Opera Mobile [not mini]).
performance issue !!
To be honest i love the performance of the browser untill i find myself in an area that only just has GPRS but not 3g or edge coverage.
GPRS is just not fast ata all and thats all iv found to affect performance, try comparing it to say internet explorer mobile or opera on any windows mobile device !!
also try browsing while connected to wifi network, it flys !!
.
As I mentioned earlier, consider trying Swapper to help with the browser. It has been updated to work with android 1.5 now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483110&page=4
My experience with the browser is pretty good. The only thing I don't like about it is that when we press stop, it usually stops at a blank page. Or when we press back, we can't tell if it's going back yet, so we (I atleast), press it twice and it goes back twice. Or when we press back, it doesn't stop loading right away, it waits a few seconds or sometimes even full loads the page that it's currently loading.
Other than lack of multitouch I don't see too much of a difference between the iphone in rendering or speed. IMO the G1 and Iphone browsers behave like chrome and safari respectively, and are pretty much the same.

I'm not very happy with the broswing on the HTC Dream (Rogers user here in Canada) It renders pages fantastically, I've gotten used to the panning around and such when the fit-to screen doesn't really do a great job.
The major issue I have is the fact that when I switch to another application, no matter what app, when I come back to the broswer the page seems to reload. Also, if I start to load a page and switch to another app, when I come back to the browser it seems as though it was waiting for me to come back before finishing the page load I tasked it to do while I was off in another app.
Is there an option I'm missing that can stop this from happening? It's annoying. I'm used to my Sidekick LX loading a webpage while I'm doing something else! This device is much more powerful, why can't it multi-task as well? ARRGH!

It's a caching issue. There simply isn't enough available to have the browser/webpage sitting in cache while you perform other tasks.
In comparison to a Sidekick, I'd rather have a G1 that renders pages correctly in lieu of loading in the background.
don't get me wrong, I love how the G1/Dream renders webpages. I suppose it's just something I have to get used to.
I loved the SK because it was such a work horse. I didn't need to view any flashy pages, and the server side magic they did with webpage rendering to fit on the SK screen is something I wish my G1 could do. The SK could also switch back and forth between apps without lag, the short cuts responded quickly, and there was no "Oh... what? Oh... I see what you want to do!" feeling that Dream gives me every once in a while.
In all honesty, if Fido (i'm in Canada) had not decomissioned my hiptop data plan, thus killing my SK, I'd still be using it.
Having said all that though, as my sig says, I miss my SK (it did have it's issues with non-loading certain pages) but I'm starting to love this little device I've got my hands on now. I love it for its potential, I just hope that it lives up to it! The market is fantastic and when we get root (again, we are in Canada using Rogers branded htc devices) I'm sure I will be even happier.

Right, I get what you mean. I came from various Windows Mobile devices and it took me a while to get used to Android. After I did though, I'd find myself using somebody elses non-Android phone and going "wait, it can't do that?? they still make phones like this??"
Awesome.
don't even get me started on winmo... I had a winmo phone for the interm between my sk decomission and the htc dream release in canada. It took me forever to get it setup in a way that I could live with it.
I love the ui of the dream/g1. Eveything is so intuitive. After only a few days of using my dream, I used a friends winmo device and I actually touched the screen because I had become so accustomed to doing so with my dream. I was all, "oh! that's right, i have to click with this button. how quaint!"

HTC Desire browser vs. stock Android speed

Has anyone who has tried the Desire browser noticed that the loading speeds are much much much quicker than the stock Android?
I used KingK's Desire2Nexus for 1 day. Now I'm on CM 5.0.4 default. Loading up XDA on CM/default browser seems like there's a hang around the middle of the loading, and also 3/4 of the way there. On KingK, the loading speed was blazing going page to page. There was absolutely no hang at all.
Anyone else notice this?

Nope...it's tied into the HTC framework. For what it's worth, the stock browser has improved quite a bit from Android 1.5 even... the Hero browser was way nicer at that time. The difference now is negligible to be honest.

I had the exact opposite experience, lol.
I too noticed a big boost in speed with the Desire browsr.
Maybe some of you rooted peeps can post a comparison on Youtube. Just make sure to clear the cache before recording, lol... Don't need another Engadget-type video.
To me it seems faster, also has more features like the long press on any word and it will give u options for copy, translate, Wikipedia, and dictionary.
Can't say I have felt a noticeable difference in speed, though I enjoy the extra features of the HTC browser. Worth noting, though, that it doesn't let you open as many windows as the stock one.
No No No No Noooo LOL
The Desire browser sucks in my testing
Multi touch pinch and zoom is a big let down, it jumps around the screen and is just terrible
Also most pages i normally visit on a day to day basis just stop loading at the http part of the bar :|
Also in my experience is closed itself all the time, just like ended :|
But hey thats just in my experience lol
It doesn't "jump around the screen" as such. The text just gets readjusted to fit into your screen properly the way it does on the stock browser when you double-tap.
I've noticed that I'm less accurate in choosing links on the Desire browser. But it's an alpha, so not that surprising.
My biggest issue with the N1 in general is touchscreen accuracy; I really hope it's gradually fixed in software.
ive noticed it too! Actually ive noticed almost everything to be faster on the desire rom..(im using kings)..and the flash player is awsome..it works for everything but hulu for me..and the pinch zoom works perfect for me too..i remember their use to be a stutter compared to the iphone, but then i went to the apple store yesterday and compared my nexus running on desire rom with the 3gs and the nexus seemed much more fluid

G2 a bit laggy?

i just got my tmobile g2 and after putting my email in and unlocking it for my att sim, i feel like is a little bit choppy. the scrolling in the web browser (i dint even install flash) and the responsiveness of the buttons, it doesn't feel as snappy as the the iphone 4. i remember when i was using the n1 with 2.2 a while back is a bit smoother. is it because i been using the iphone for too long? or is it because its preloaded with too much app? i don't think thats the case since the android rom it self is stock. will the smoothness of the ui improves when you put in a different rom when permit root is possible in the future?
one more thing, is it possible to add touch focus to the camera and video recording?
I don't know what you did but the G2 is incrediblly snappy for me. No lags at all. I'm even playing some heavy duty games, like Asphalt (racing game) and I do not notice any lags at all.
thats what i was expecting too, i dint do anything to my g2 is out of the back from the store
flash comes pre-installed.
Have you tried rebooting?
What are your linpack scores?
I too find G2 a bit choppy (after playing with my friend's iPhone4) but I think that's just the way Android is. It can do so much more but we have to sacrifice some smoothness in return. Seems to lag a bit more on home screens. Browser, maps, other apps are just fine.
Also, with Android 2.2, you have to use a phone for a while for it to achieve it's full potential. Something about JIT getting better over the time.
I had the same thing happen to me after i put my work email through microsoft exchange active sync. i ended up putting the check email frequency to never cause i always check it every morning and night to reply and that seemed to clear up that issue. it might be a bug with microsoft exchange active sync or the email app itself. hope that helps.
Honestly after the G1 I didn't believe android could run without lag, but my G2 never lags at all. Well maybe twice I've noticed a tiny second of lag coming back to the home screen but that's it. That being said, one of my friends got a g2 too and his is a little laggy here and there... gotta be particular apps/widgets causing issues in my opinion... with him in particular I think its the anyRSS widget, but I could be wrong of course. I love this phone

My g1 and my g2 BOTH lag blatantly when connected to cheap third party power cords fyi. They work fine on decent power cords, but glitch on the made-in-china, 3 chargers for 99 cents adapter cords.

The g2 certainly lags in the browser. On more complex webpages the scrolling is not very smooth at all. Load up a flash heavy site and its really bad. I find It really hard to control flash players and stuff. You have to zoom way in to get any buttons to register like on myspace music.
Set flash to "on demand."
Overall I have no lag. when i first got mine (oct 6) there was a delay when i tried to scroll the app drawer. The issues has a since disappear. This thing is snappy and blazing fast.
I think he might be referring to the "smoothness". Unfortunately all android phones have a tendency to stutter when scrolling.
There is no 2D graphics acceleration in the UI, as google did not want to have issues with the older 528mhz phones. Hopefully this will be resolved in 3.0.
The newer faster phones (Like the G2) can hide this with their raw CPU performance, but occasionally if its multitasking or doing something else it will stutter/lag. For now, Windows Phone 7, and iPhone's will always be "smoother". Until we get some decent UI acceleration .

do you have adobe flash 10.1 installed? Keep it on your phone internal memory not sdcard. If you are running stock browser or Xscope or skyfire (or even fennec) just clear the caches regularly. Otherwise there is no reason why the phone should be lagging. Also in settings, set flash player to "on demand" not "always"

I'm actually talking with flash off though and comparing the g2 side by side a captivate. So android's ui is not hardware accelerated but the galaxy s phones are able to totally mask that. Its not a big difference but a shame that the g2 processor doesn't keep up with the hummingbird. Now someone could explain to me that its because we are running 2.2 but I thought it was actually supposed to be faster than 2.1.
my phone is fast. there is a difference between lag and choppiness. lag is when there is a delay between when you tell the phone to do something and when it does it. choppiness is a lack of smoothness in scrolling. some apps are more choppy than than others. like the stock music app is way too choppy when scrolling lists. the browser is choppy. the contacts list is pretty smooth. but in terms of lag, I don't have any lag.

I think most of the Web browser choppiness is due to the fact your use At&t network for browsing on the G2 which will only get you slow speeds since it can't use At&t's 3G. This would be expected. Try wifi and see if you still have the choppiness. I don't know about your button issue though.

Dear deio,
I have a perfect perception of smoothness and I'm not going to lie to you - I have A500 with Lightspeed 1.0.4 with stock kernel. Runs SMOOTH AS BUTTER! My brother owns an iPAD 2 and trust me I've played a lot with this useless (for me) thing if that's the idea of "ultimate smoothness". OK, this thread is not about iPADs vs Android tablets (no matter your conclusion that every Android tablet is ****ty), its about the lag OP experienced with OTA 3.2 . huurux , either go ahead for a custom ROM or return your device for replacement.
Having the same problem since i downloaded ota 3.2. When i say lag, i meant like it takes me a couple of minutes to open up an app (not a specific app, almost any app causes the lag) and even that, when i try to execute anything with the app it takes a few more minutes. Android Market also tells me i have updates for my apps, click on update, and the download status bar will marquee endlessly and would not let me download anything. Was thinking i had a bad update.
My question is (and help me out cause i am a noob): Is there a way i can reflash the stock ota 3.2? I have tried the "check for update" but it will just tell me that my android is up-to-date. Please help, have tried looking in the forum but couldnt find a similar solution.
Another noobish question: If i factory reset i assume it will wipe all data. Is there an easy way i can reinstall all the apps i previously had before the factory reset? If so, will i be able to retain all the progress i made in the app? (eg: game progress, rss list, etc)Tks in advance =)

Get Titanium backup from Market - its the most usefull app for me that's why I got the paid version. It will backup all your apps with data. The free version would also do the job for you but the batch process of restoring apps later will require pressing OK on each app that is currently being restored.
Thanks for the fast reply. It seems that i am not able to download any apps from the moment because of the problem. Although internet seems to be working.
Try to download Titanium Backup from their web site. As for the lag, I'm on stock 3.2 and I don't have any lag, the tablet runs even faster than with 3.2, so something is causing the lag on your tablet, I suspect a bad application, it happened to me with my iPad and iTouch, that went slow as molasses, and it was bad application. Uninstalled and everything got fine.
So for those so quickly to blame any android tablet, pleas check first that really you didn't install any crap application, specially cracked or pirated ones, that is slowing the system.

I also have this "LightSpeed" ROM, is laggy as hell, this is not a hardware problem, tried with a different Iconia, I also had a TF101, it was a bit better, but lack of USB on the slate made me chose the Iconia.
Sorry but this is about all Android tablets, and I must apologize to you, but I don't believe you. There is no smoothness in ANY Android device.
Ok, recommend a ROM that has the lowest lag, I'll try it.

Unfortunately for the OP, if you accepted the OTA you can no longer root so apps like Titanium Backup or flashing a different ROM are no longer an option. You'll have to wait for someone to get root for OTA 3.2.
If you don't mind losing some of your apps, you can try a factory reset, load one app at a time from the market, and see if you can determine if an app is causing your problems.
Deio, continuing to call the A500 community liars and idiots in thread after thread is likely not going to result in much help coming your way. At this point my only advice to you is to eBay your A500 and go buy an iPad. Clearly, the A500 is simply not the device for you and you're never going to be happy with it.
deio, buy a f***ing iPad and leave us alone!
Lag
I've noticed a significant lag when the power plug is on (especially the touchscreen), as soon as I unplug the power cordless everything run smooth... weird
android 3.1
My roommate has the Transformer and I have the Iconia, we both lag like hell every two to three hours for about 5-10mins.

I also have the power/charge lag problem. I'm on stock rooted 3.1 using Richard Tripp's kernel to OC 1.4. Lagging during charging/ac power has been a problem for my A500 since new, with no root. Something about this engineering that makes it a problem for some units.
Going to load Taboonay and see if it makes a difference.

My config A500 3.1 rooted, I didn't have this issue be4 3.1 update.
Try thors newest v11. I only get lag on this website for some reason, it takes a quick second for the whole page to show. Its hit and miss. Every now and then it will go away. I watch alot of 720p videos. Both streaming from my home server or downloaded to one of my sdcards. All my daily uses, email, surfing, videos, etc. have almost no lag.
Ok here we go...
The best I can guess from reading about all of your lag problems is that there is a program or programs that are running in your background processes and eating up cpu/memory. Go to settings-applications-running applications and see what is on right now; subsequently see what is running directly after a reboot. If a bunch of random apps are running, it is very likely they are causing the lag. Especially if they are syncing or accessing the web. My suggestion would be to either uninstall these apps or go into their individual settings and turn off anything that would have it constantly working (not just running, it is ok for some apps to run in the background, as Android is programmed to control memory usage while allowing apps to run when not it use, but specifically 'working' in the background will eat up resources). Also, how often do you have your syncs scheduled? Any info that you do not need to have constantly synced (ie backup email addresses, facebook, weather intervals, etc.) should be either turned off or set to sync only a few times a day. For example, I have 11 running apps right now (been running without a reboot for a few days), consisting mainly of core Android processes, my keyboard, email, cpu scaler, and just 2 apps that I have downloaded that run in the background (mind you I have about 50 apps installed).
Furthermore...
All this talk about the iPad and how smooth it is...that's because it utilizes hardware accelerated graphics, something that Android will now have with the release of Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0. True, the level of smoothness on an iPad typically surpasses that of an Android device, but that is soon to change. Then what will the iPad really have? A boring home screen that consists of nothing more than only our app drawer and a ton of games. Android brings WAY more to the table, no question about it.
Going on...
I am running a custom rom (Taboonay 2.1b) with an overclocked/undervolted processor (1.4ghz -150mv) and my Iconia gets kick ass battery life. I need to really try to kill this thing, no joke. I play hi-def/3d games, watch flash content on the web, Netflix, internet browsing, email, create word docs, use external usb peripherals, and more. To get the best battery life you just have to be smart about it.
Suggestions:
Turn off auto backlight. I don't think it works very well on the Iconia anyway, I have my brightness set at about 20% and it's perfectly visible (if you're used to having it brighter give it some time, you'll adjust) and when I am in bright light I simply change it as needed.
Check sync schedule. Weather really only needs to be updated like every 3 hours at most. Do you really need to know the temperature AS it changes? Don't think so.
Do you have multiple email addresses? Unless they are work related, you can probably just set them to sync manually and check it a couple times a day without it turning on itself.
Facebook/Twitter syncing is the devil. Unless you are a 15 year old girl that needs to know what her bff is doing at all times, slow down the sync on these apps!
Is your WiFi set to turn off with your screen? This is a BIG ONE! Settings-Wireless/Networks-WiFi Settings-WiFi Disconnect Policy-When Screen Turns Off. You'll notice a change immediately.
For some more info on what's killing your battery, and therefore more than likely sucking up resources and causing lag, go to Settings-Applications-Battery Use. The blue lines should line up accordingly: Your device should only be Awake and have the WiFi on when the Screen is on, except for a few dashes here and there for normal syncing. Large blue squares of Awake when the screen isn't on means something is running in the background that probably shouldn't be. WiFi on all the time kills battery. Get it? Also, the list of apps that take up battery should only be ones that YOU KNOW you are using on a constant basis. If something is on there that you don't normally use a lot, it means it's running in the background and sucking up a lot of resources (other than screen, tablet idle, and Android OS, these should be there).
Moral of the story...
I gave my 3 year old kids my iPhone. It's a kids toy, same with the iPad. Period. An Android device is one of the most powerful, customizable and capable devices available. There is a lot more that can be done with it than with most other more simple devices. With great power comes great responsibility. Take control of your device, what you do with it and what it does. Lag? What lag.
Phew. I'm a little drunk at the moment, so hope I didn't go too crazy here. What was this post about by the way? Ha! Hit the thanks button if this made any sense to anyone out there
Honestly, I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm running stock unrooted 3.2(mostly because I've been too lazy to revert back to a rooted ROM)and have very little to no lag. Realizing that its all personal perception and that I gave my Ipod to my kid so I don't really have anything to compare it to, I'm way more than happy with the performance of my tablet. The only time I have to wait is when I open up the Acer content folders, sometimes it takes a second or two for them to open. I can definitely live with that, if the trade off is a fully usable tablet that I can customize to my own needs. Battery life is well above expectations as well for me. Usually two days of semi-heavy use before I start to get that panicky feeling that comes when my battery meter drops below 30%.

Is it normal for the Moto X Pure to have a huge delay opening anything?

I've gone through 4 of these dang phones and every time I thought I had a detective unit. Without any mods or anything, the phone is slow. Like everything takes 1 full second to open. It's embarrassing for the 808 as I compared to my ome plus one, which opens everything instantly just about in cm13. I've done side by side tests and my opo just smokes the pure. I've tried custom Roms, stock reflashes, nothing fixed this lag/delay
Is this normal? Is the MXPE really this slow? What's the point of the 808? It's honestly the only phone available to me right now and I just can't use it because it's so damn slow. I mean the last one I had took 1 to 2 seconds to open hangouts... Everytime . But my OPO? So fast I can't even really measure it, less that 0.5 seconds I'd say.
Please tell me I've had 4 defective units...
Try going to developer options and reducing all the animation transitions, I set mine to .3x.

The delay is before the animation even begins, as in I tap on something, wait just about a full second, and then the animation plays and then the app loads. That's why I took off work and back, there's no way that that's normal. Is it?

Def not normal, everything opens instantly on mine (running bliss rom, elementalx cpu governor). Even on stock lollipop this happens? Any temperature extremes where you're at?
Try clearing the cache in recovery mode. Everything on mine opens as quick as I touch the screen. I'm rooted and on stock 6.0.

So I've gotten 4 duds? My luck is horrible
geez dude, 4 units? When i changed the CPU governor to elementalX and switched off some cores, it took like, 1 and a half second to open things. But i knew the root reason. Switch back to ondemand and the apps open faster than my fingers can click it (except some abominations like facebook or google now). It's really fast. I have some problems with scrolling smoothness and random stuttering on chrome but they open as fast as possible.

Only time I notice mine get stupid is when I plug it in to fast charge and it's low. Seems to act stupid a little then.

I guess I will try a fifth one 0.0
Ugh lol. I'd really like for this phone not to suck, my opo is really breaking down
are you using an sdcard as internal ? i started with a clean install and before i installed any new apps i made my 32GB class 10 mem part of the internal and installed my apps, omfg apps like facebook , twitter and google plus were awful, so i moved facebook back to real internal and facebook works fine. so anything that runs slow i move back to true internal, games dont seem to be effected and i can keep them on the sdcard.
hope this helps
Just checked mine. Hangouts press the app bang opens straight up. I came from OPO. Swapped it for a LG g4 then couple days after swapped for my MXs had the OPO for 1year and half. Great phone. Shame about the companies customer service.

To the OP, are you referring to initially opening an app after reboot or reopening it after it's been opened already?
The latter will of course be faster because it's cached. The former will take a second or two depending on how big the app is.
Download size gives a rough indiciation - most google apps are fat, search, maps, chrome, gmail, etc.
