As you probably know, HTC One came out in a few variants. I described these different versions here and here. To sum up:
The important part is, that users with U variant (GSM only) can use custom ROMs based on UL (GSM/LTE) RUU. It is already confirmed by one user, who flashed custom ROM based on 1.28.401.7 m7_ul software on his m7_u unit. Don't be confused - this probably won't enable LTE support on your GSM unit. We are not yet sure if it's possible at all, but it's very likely that once we have S-OFF and SuperCID for HTC One, flashing entire RUU from m7_ul on m7_u device may enable LTE support (of course your network provider has to support LTE as well).
I will keep you posted once I have some more details.
Thanks goodman_east for sharing some info with me!

Very happy about this. With the one x here in the states we had a limited amount of ROMs due to the hardware variations. This is much better news.
Thanks Mike

I am using new One in Taiwan. I already flash ARHD 3.5 in my M7-U new One, fantastic!
It's good to know that we can share xda ROM now. Thanks!

And here I was hours ago trying to insist that HTC One has only the same hardware and is universally flashable yet all users tend not to believe me and keep pointing out the One X & X+.

One X+ and One X have different chip (AP37 vs AP33), different partitions table (separate sdcard partition vs /data/media) and few other differences as well.

Really wonder why some people who have insufficient knowledge on how things work tend to not believe advices given to them by someone who knows more than them. :fingers-crossed:

but the one x+ international roms where not compatible with the at&t version, yet the hardware was identical.
was that because a kernel difference??

Was it? As far as I know Tegra 3 never had integrated LTE modem and it was a separate component on AT&T One X+. I may be wrong.

So this means the ATT One and The HTC Dev Edition One, and the European are the same, PN0710000 right? That is great news!! European and US versions finally are identical!! I guess the Mods jumped to soon when creating the separate ATT One Forum.. The One X+ needed separating bad because hardware was different, yet they didnt. Now hardware is the same and they are separated..

I will probably be getting the HTC One from T-Mobile UK ia when they get it in stock. Rather than go with 4GEE, I decided to stick with T-Mobile 3G since the price difference probably doesn't justify it.
Would the phone that I probably would receive from T-Mobile be the UL model?
Tia.

Yes you can use 4G LTE. Fyi 4GEE is a brand name, it's EE. But you're using T-Mobile (are they joined with EE? I can't remember)

ah, right! Well, maybe it's correct then. For now I'm sure that m7_u can use m7_ul software. I don't want to make false assumptions, so let's wait until we know for sure what MID has U.S. AT&T or Verizon HTC One.

My AT&T per order says HTC PN07120, does that mean anything? Or are they all PN07120's?

just wondering, and going off topic, which Galaxy S Variant besides the I9000, i mean like in the USA
would be the best there is?
Vibrant
Captivate
and the others i can't remember names right now...
which one would be the best? I think Samsung may go into THAT carrier with the original phone, maybe, just maybe.
I really do hope its left untouched. Updates will come quicker since it was the variants of the original galaxy s that were getting slow updates cause of the carriers.

Well, the Vibrant sold the most out of all the variants in the US (over 1 million) and the Vibrant was also the closest to the i9000 in terms of appearances and internals.
Hopes its real cuz my vibrant is screwed an i am looking for phone an this is top on list
nice
Looks like a nice phone.
Really wish T-Mo would rethink this whole ATT merger thing...they could easily rise as the 3rd/2nd biggest US Carrier behind Verizon seeing all these phones that are going to/could be released for T-Mo.
Vibrant hands down. T Mobile removed the least amount of functions from stocl os and did not put to much bloatware in there. My wige has captivate and its junk compared to my vibrant

Considering Verizon the last 10 years has not had the most impressive phones... In any capacity.... The last 3-4 years excluded. And they were still Number 1 by a wide margin.

I think they are getting the Snapdragon S4 version as I believe they have an LTE rollout there as well? I could be mistaken.
Still, this is going to frustrate those who have the standard international edition, I can imagine.
Then again, Samsung is a Korean company, so I guess they're showing their locals some love.
here goes a dumb question maybe:
will the korean one work in europe?
I know it`s korea only, but if i buy it from there...will it work here?

I think Korea uses one 3G band the same as Europe at 2100.. but everything else is different.
If it takes a U-SIM, then you should be able to use it in Europe but only with 3G.
(i think this is correct.. I had a look into this too because I wanted to get a few phones from Korea)

Sorry guys, but one website says this with no proof whatsoever and you all believe it?
I'm not saying it definitely isn't true, but stop complaining about it until we get official confirmation!
If this is actually gonna happen, this could be well good. If the baseband processor is the same then it might be possible to flash the baseband with the EU firmware to make it fully compatable with EU 3G bands.
We'll need to wait and see what the internal hardware is first.
Im hoping this will be a goer.

Two things have been confirmed though. Korea is getting LTE with an Exynos as the research and development was with their 4G LTE when they developed the phone.
Now 2gb of ram is the question I guess.
If it becomes true (4 cores + 2gb), wondering what will be the bettery performance... I guess, will drain at least, a little bit faster than the other versions.

LTE
quad core
2gb RAM?
LOL.. not fair, kidding... samsung could make that for the US i think, except that it would only be compatible with probably AT&T, it would be unfair for other carriers so they didn't do it.. just guessing
I'm wondering if these sites are just getting it wrong, because the model of the Note that was released in Korea had LTE and it ended up using the Snapdragon instead of the Exynos. I think that a bunch of places reported it as being a 1.4Ghz Exynos though.
What the chance of korean LTE band working on US AT&T?

Especially if you consider how many G2 users might actually renew their 2-year contract for a free upgrade to a G3. (most of my family has already done this with their own phones, and I'm eligible to upgrade as well from my G2... if there was a comparable phone for it...)
IF this happens I hope they follow suit and also release it in Canada / Worldwide under the same bands as the DZ. That's the reason the G2/DZ has such a strong community, because it's worldwide.

One would hope, it would also be more profitable for HTC to be able to sell the same phone on a worldwide market with simply different branding like they did with the G2/DZ. It's just a matter of, is there a demand for it outside of say T-Mobile users. (I would say there is, but HTC would have a better idea of the numbers).
The name Era 42 makes sense for a keyboard phone as 42 would be the perfect number of keys for a 4 row qwerty phone. The G2 has 43 including though shortcut keys and search key I never use.
Omg i hope this is true. Im getting an S3 the beginning of next month so i better hear some more news SOON.

Yes but for Samsung as well, We, Canadians have different models, but still we have to find a place where we can get our information.

Trust me.. the Canadian carriers don't bastardize their phones. There's nothing that would belong in a Canadian HTC One M8 forum that wouldn't apply to the rest of the world (except for Sprint/Verizon) except for the 3 APNs.

What did your invoice say? I didn't see anything specific. Ordered with a contract.

Canadian Variant G900W8 own forum?

I had the note 3 and we didn't have our own forum but Tmobile roms works well with our phones due to ATT having the boot loader locked problem.
Looks like our variant keeps the unlocked boot loader and download booster which was taken out in other models. Which forum can we look to for custom roms when they start popping up? I hope we can get away with the international snapdragon version seeing how that was out earlier.
EDITED 4-24-2014
We dont need our own forum because we can flash other variants except SM-G900H
Flashing SM-G900H Can cause all sorts of problems including brick because its the octacore version not Qualcomm.
I have flashed F and T base roms just fine.
I just got my device. Wondering what forum to use too.
There never seems to be a forum for the Canadian verisons.
Since you have the phone already, do you know what LTE bands the Canadian model variant has?

US Cellular has the same problem. I think sprint is what is most compatible with ours with a couple adjustments.

I beg to differ....
I had the s3, s4, note 2 and note 3 and Att and Tmobile roms always worked better with the right modem flash of course.

I was referring to the LTE frequencies it supports.
This trick works on the S4 so I think it should work on the S5. If you go to the dialer and input *#2263# it should open up the band selection menu. if you click on LTE band preference it should show all the LTE bands it supports.

Thanks for the image! Its wierd, the S5 has one less LTE band than the S4 yet they advertise the S5 as being a Global LTE capable device.

Meh. That's the Canadian version perhaps. Do you think they going to make a section for the Canadian or we gotta use like sprint's one.

Yeah its probably due to the Canadian version. I hope we get our own forum, it would make finding roms and other things a lot easier instead of diggong through the american device forums.

I guess the Canadian s4 didn't have it's own forum? I last Samsung device I had was the s3 and it had it's own forum; then I got the nexus 4 and 5. Sigh

Speaking of the SM-G900W8, anyone on Bell Mobility and if so, did you install the OTA?

I have the bell s5 and I did that update, all it said was that it helps with performance issues. Nothing notable. I doubt Canada will get its own device thread, seeing as the majority of people and devs are going to be American, I could be mistaken though

True, but the s3 got merged with AT&T section, so maybe the same with the s5.

I installed the update, using KIES. No obvious difference, like you said.
One more vote for a separate section or at least a merged one if our S5 is compatible with another carrier like the S3 was with AT&T, stuff is getting hard to find .
