[Q] ICS FM Radio - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Has anyone got a working FM radio on the HTC HD2? I have tried the spirit radio but reception is terrible, now what I don't know is it a poor FM receiver ib the phone or is it just spirit that doesn't work with this phone.
I am running the NexusHD2.ICS.CM9.HWA.V2.9a.zip rom which other than the radio is excellent

FM Radio on Leo without headphone!

hi all
I've heard that Leo can play FM Radio without headphone work as an antenna? I wonder at it?
Is there anyone can confirm that....
Thanks!
Negative m8, Leo's FM Radio needs enclosed earphones handset to operate as an antenna.
I would love the day the manufacturers could put in a antenna to allow use of the FM radio without putting in a headset.
I hate using a wired headset.
Try one of these, no need for headphones and a bit cheaper!

Its a phone ffs, lol
Mind you they are getting bigger, so one day you could have a £500 fm radio with built in antenna.

i dont think its as easy as just putting radio antennas inside a body of a phone.
one might have to think about interference to/from the phone antenna, wifi antenna, bluetooth antenna, gps antenna and any other antennas already present in the phone.
I don't think it's even physically possible to make an antenna small enough to fit in a phone which is sensitive enough to receive low-frequency signals like radio.

Mmm..I dont know how to say but I just heard that from someone. They said Leo could play FM Radio without headphone in new coming Rom update. Any Mods here knows it?
It is not a bad ROM, it is because of radio-frequencies all need antennas that fit their special wavelength to work.
If you use radiowaves you can use antennas that are only half or a quarter of the wavelength, so 10cm waves need 2,5 cm or 5 cm antennas.
Radiowaves in FM are about 4 m wavelength, so you need 1 m antenna!

The FM Radio tool from the HTC Debug Tools (On the prototype phones) does work without earphones.
Also tried the tool in my release phone, als also there the fm radio worked without earphones....
just a few more months and the Sony Ericsson MW600 headset will be availlable with build in FM radio.. I have a SE HBH-DS220 at the moment and it works great sound is awesome..
I wish we could enable audioboost with A2DP

does it recived channels and you could hear it without head phones
i don't bother the built-in FM radio. Try use WunderRadio. Internet-based radio. Of course you need unlimited data plan for this to work.
Some walkman phones have built in fm antennas like w960, and some cheap chinese phones too, i don't remembor which one though, i read their test on mobilearena long time ago, so if it is possible.

That's great, except when you are on the move and lose data coverage which is exactly what makes the FM radio useful.
I just had the july 8 nrg rom in and the fm tuner would open & receive a few channels with NO wired headset plugged in & played it though the speaker..
I want to know if the fm tuner capabilities are based on the rom in general or a specific "fm tuner driver"
Currently on kumars 2.4.1 and of course the fm wont open without a wired headset plugged in : (

hd2 problem fm radio

Hello, I am Italian. those of you who have problems with the FM radio?scanning stations, does not work, I have to do manual
im in uk and im lucky if i can even get a signal for any station, this is the worst device ive used for the fm radio, tobad as the rest of phone is great
understand, then it is not just a problem of my device, hopefully in an update radio
(sorry my english)
+1
The FM radio is really bad on the HD2 (whereas it was good on the HD). Many problems on my French ROM.
The best thing to do is to report this specific bug to the HTC support here:
http://www.htc.com/www/CS_Mail.aspx
same problem here......italian rom......
uk... no problem at all, get every single station
I had the same problem and I solved it.
The solution is to use the orginal headphones. I don't know exactly which is the difference but try it and you will see.....
gets better with the original headphones, but did not receive the same touch-pro2
Hi,
compared to my Xperia the HD2 has a very very bad FM radio. Xperia gets about 15-20 radiostations, HD2 only one!

with which headphones, ive tried senhz hd595 + shure se210 + shure se310
The radio on HD is fine, but on HD2 the radio sometimes receives very good signal, sometimes completely dead. And for me it does not matter what headphone I use.
Hello
am still have this problem with all cooked rom, and don't know if is there any update for FM Radio software, currently have version 2.5 build 1919.4027
I am at Portugal, and have WP7.
Not catching any stations, i had a stupid idea. First loaded Zune and listened to music for a few seconds, then changed it to radio. Worked!

Weak FM Radio on HD2

Hi I want to ask you about your FM radio - do you have so poor signal as mine - on my old SE P1i I could find plenty of radio stations - on HD2 with with the same headphones - I can find only ONE in mono mode only!!
Is something wrong with my HD2 or it is typical problem of this model??

it seems to be an actual problem, lots of people saying the same thing.
I gave up on the radio, mp3's all the way!!!
but it would have been nice.
Mine works great....
i have the same problem with FM reception, i finally gave up and now have switched to internet radio thanks to skyfire.
Pretty crappy here as well.

but how about costs of internet streaming i.e. monthly????

that really depends on the kind of data plan you have with the network provider. if u r not on an unlimited plan it might not be the most economical choice.

Yeep but this stations wich I find manually are still with poor quality of signal so this is not a solution ;(
Same problem -- I used a Touch HD for 18 months and the radio was great. I use it every morning while walking the dogs. But, on the HD2 the radio is noticeably less sensitive and there's intermittent interference on stations that the HD pulled in clearly. I'm using the same wired headset on both.
Since I still have the HD, does anybody think it's a software issue? Or is it in the hardware? Could I copy the radio software from the HD to the HD2?
Thanks
yes I found the same thing between the hd and hd2 radios.
I don't bother using the radio on the hd2 because it's so weak.
Would love a solution to have it working well ie not just streaming instead.

FM Radio?

This thread isn't about radio images, it's about the FM radio found in the HD2.
My question is: Is there any way to get it to work in Android?
Also looking for fm tuner in android.

It works but only in Android with Sense.
Yeah, it works. But it doesnt work very well because it doesnt have an antenna and the headphone cord doesnt work as a very good antenna if you ask me, because reception is pathetic. HTC really failed on the FM radio on the HD2.
Try TuneIn radio from the market.
