[Q] ATT Galaxy Tab with IPAD Sim

I have an IPAD with $30 unlimited plan. On the 21st ATT is releasing their version of the Galaxy. Can I use my simm off the IPAD on the Galaxy. Now that would be kick ass...

If you use an adapter, it should be just fine, though AT&T might be tracking the IMEI numbers of their version of the Tab to prevent this.
Apple kickbacks are sort of helping cover the costs of that plan, and you can bet Apple won't be too happy to see it used on non-Apple devices.

AT&T has said they are going to offer the same "iPad" data plans on the Galaxy Tab, so they probably wouldn't care if you swapped SIMs.

Yeah, but I think he's got one of the old plans they're no longer offering.

Micro. I just bought a tab. Put my Att berry sim. It did not work. Also, I couldn't connect to iPhone or iPad running my-wi.

R u saying you can't use tethering the Tab & iPhone? There is a post on how to use Ad-hoc wireless on the tab and it works. Either in this sub-forum or the General one.

I just picked up an AT&T Galaxy Tab and it works fine with the iPad sim. No need to change the APN either. I'm using a grandfathered $30/mo unlimited plan too.

I was wondering the same too...i put my att ipad sim in my rooted att tab and data does not work. Dont know much about roms but im told this is a euro rom. The tab hands down is a cooler devivce and i would love to use it with my ipad sim...any help would be appreciated

Ipad uses a MICROSIM
Tab uses a plain SIM
You will have to get an adapter.

Switch from ATT Galaxy 2 to International?

Hi -
I currently have the AT&T version, but was thinking about making the jump to the International version. There is definately more activity from a development standpoint for the International version.
Can I use the International one on AT&T? Is there any know issues I should be aware of prior to doing this? For example, can I still get H+?

Are you talking about switching to a Galaxy S II 9100?
Tons of people are using them in the states before the AT&T versions were announced/released. I believe they are nearly identical in terms of network/band support (shy of the LTE model Skyrocket)

Yes. I would switch the at&t Samsung galaxy s II to the international version i9100.
I thought people had issues getting h+ to work though.
I'm guessing I should just be able to move the similar card over.

You shouldn't have any problems; I've been using the international version on AT&T for 6 months. The only area where you might have some issues is with ROMs -- a ROM package made for the AT&T version probably won't work on the international version.

It works perfectly well, just a warning if you purchase the white model. Att recognizes the imei as a blackberry for some reason. I had to call them four times and push them until they finally let me keep the media net plan.

I've been using the international version on AT&T since July. Only problem is that it drops signal after a phone call and randomly at other times. It come right back up tho. I don't know if this is due to my area or what or even my phone singularly.

I have been using the GT-I9100 for a few months now without issue, it was a little rough at first trying to get the correct APN provisioned but after dealing with a Supervisor who had half a clue I was able to have the correct APN provisioned and things have been great ever since.
However, since you already have a Galaxy S2 at&t has already provisioned your account with correct APN, so you should be good to go form that perspective.
I really like the GT-I9100 and am really happy with it, I came back from London on the 20th and played with a Galaxy Nexus while I was over there. Very impressive phone but not a major step up from the SGS2 IMHO, added to that I believe that ICS on the SGS2 is going to be pretty slick as the Exynos/Mali combo is just as good or maybe even slightly better than the TI OMAP/Power VR combo on the GNex.

Nothing at all. I bought the internationAl the day it was released in the UK. I pulled the Sim from my inspire placed it in my gs2. Rooted about 15 minutes later and haven't had an issue yet. Play with apns depending on your area. I have had little success with major gains but mainly due to living in the major tristate area(too many users)
Edit: don't call and give them your imei. It changes nothing and has changed nothing with my acct

Shouldn't be hard to find the AT&T APN online. I did it with Virgin. When I installed a rom using full wipe, it erased APN. Same as getting a new phone really. A quick google search and manual APN inputs and I was back. You shouldn't need to do it though...first time I booted my phone up after I bought it, it picked the service up instantly.

That simple, remove the sim from your current phone (I777) and insert it into your new phone (GT-I9100) and you should be good to go.
I am also Grandfathered into the Unlimited Plan and to date have had zero issues.
One warning, if you plan on buying the White GT-I9100, that seems to come up in at&t Mobility's system as a Blackberry and the computer will try and provision your account for Blackberry use.

I just purchased an unlocked galaxy note this evening, which is the first unlocked international phone that i have ever purchased and I just thought of a question that I can't find the answer to. Does the Nkte come with a sim card if not how do I get one for use on AT&T? I hope someone can help with my question.

Anyway, if im not mistaken i read some where that u need to purchase the sim and the phone with proper plan (im not att customer). Grand father, use as u want on the go plan etc. Purchase the iphone, sell the phone on ebay n use the sim on your Note.
But u will only get edge from this. No 4g or lte..

No SIM card in the box that I know of.

Incorrect, you will get 3g and H+ on ATT, not just edge. T-Mobile will only worth with Edge(2g).
The SIM is always associated with the carrier, so you need to get the SIM from the carrier. If you have a active SIM from your old phone on ATT, use that. If you do not want to buy another phone just to activate it, take the Note into the ATT store and they can get you set up. Just get the correct APN information here before you go in, the people in the store are not always trained to program(input the apn) international phones.
If you plan to keep the Note for a contract period (2 years) The best option is for you to buy a iPhone 4S for $200 and re-sell it only for $600. You will make a very nice profit if you keep your ATT plan for the entire 2 years...and if you do not keep the plan, that extra you made will more then pay for your ETF.

Really? Maybe im wrong then. Anyway, what i know is that (by just reading in xda) is that the 3g, 4g and others only applicable with the phone that u had register with att. They have your imei no. Others than that imei no phone, you will end up throtteling and just can use the edge.
Anyway, dont take my word. Better you go to the att center to get the correct info

People in an ATT Store may or may not be able to help you. They are not always trained to deal with international phones, as US phones are always locked in.
I am using my Note with ATT. You will most certinaly get 3G as I do.

I had absolutely no problems when I brought my Note into AT&T. They put a new SIM card in and all was good. Just had to put in the correct APN information in and I had 3G and HSPA+. No worries.

I am thinking of buying S3. I currenly have S2 (Black I9100 International Version) and I am currenly on Unlimited Data Plan (Non Smartphone). I am thinking of having the same data plan on my S3 I9300 International Version. Which version of S3 is not flagged by AT&T ? in case I9100 it was the white I9100 that was flagged as a blackberry device.

Att doesn't offer unlimited data plans anymore they "grandfathered" the plans.. and the lte phones I know for fo sho do not have unlimited data .. unless its an international one not bought from att

I have a blue German vodofone i9300 I got from a third party seller at Amazon. Using unlimited $10 internet from ATT for 2 months now. No problems.

Any i9300 will work on the current plan you use for your i9100.

I am interested in the International Model (more development and better specs).

I know what you're trying to do, I did the same thing with my i9100. Got the unlimited dumb phone plan. It worked for a few months, but then they somehow detected I had the Galaxy S II, so they throttled me so bad I thought it was worse than GPRS speeds.

were you using a lot of data when you were on MediaNet ie. unlimited plan ? I mean I heard some people using 10-30 GB.

I've been using my i9100 for a year now averaging about 12gb of data per month getting between 6-8mbps. Never been throttled.
Edit, just checked it I averaged 14gb the past 10 months, yet to be throttled.

[Q] Note 4 for straight talk?

Just wondering what will be the easiest way to get a Note 4 that will work with straight talk. I'm sick of paying 100+ dollars a month with US cellular and was thinking of just buying a note 4 when it comes out for full price and setting it up with straight talk.
Do I just buy an unlocked GSM version of the Note 4 or do I need a ATT version? I know I need to change some settings ect to make it work. I obviously would want it to be LTE and have everything work (phone, MMS, etc).

Straight talk uses GSM and CDMA from various networks, so you have to check where you are located. I'm getting the att version or unlocked and putting a cricket sim in it. Can't beat the new 10gb unlimited talk text plan for 55 with auto pay no taxes or fees. I get good reception since they are att but the data is limited to 8mb downloads which is fine for me.

You need the T-mobile version. If history repeats itself, it will work with both the GSM Straight talk sims (Tmobile/ATT) as the S4, S5, and Note 3 has. The international version won't get all the bands you need and the ATT version removed some bands in the Note 3. ATT is shady like that plus it will be locked down tighter than a drum.
BTW, don't even bother with a CDMA sim. It runs off of sprint most likely and we all know how horrible that is.

So basically I need an unlocked GSM version. My wifes GS2 is GSM because I think straight talk uses ATT towers in this area (Wisconsin).
So would I be better off getting a Tmobile, ATT or just an unlocked GSM version (non international so I can use LTE) if I plan on at least rooting?
And I'm assuming Amazaon will have unlocked GSM versions of the note 4 for sale when it comes out? Also, do need to worry about bands/frequencies or will any US unlocked GSM note 4 work?

Ya, the international version is not an option here in the US. The carriers are moving to voice over lte and the international version won't have the correct LTE bands or at least they didn't on the previous samsung devices. The Tmobile version will work on ATT and Tmobile straight talk sims with full LTE compatibility if history repeats itself.
The international versions used to be great here in the US in the Note 1 era but with the introduction of LTE on frequencies not wildly used in Europe, you can't do that anymore. Samsung has never made a "US" unlocked version of the Note so it doesn't exist. Only the international versions.

So I should get a Tmobile note 4. How would I go about getting it unlocked so I can use it with straight talk?

tmobile doesn't have contracts, and they wont sell you a phone unlocked unless you have been a customer with them for a certain period of time

Yup, just go in there and buy one and use cellunlocker.net. If they won't sell you one without knowing someone with tmobile or having an account yourself, keep in mind that there are no contracts, so as with the note 3, you can sign up and cancel it at any time and keep the phone.
Reference this thread if you have questions. A lot of it applies to the Note 4 as well.

Ordering ATT version this weekend
I am ordering ATT unactivated, unlocked Galaxy Note 4 this weekend. With the One Plus, One, I just exchanged the sim card from Nexus 5 into One Plus, One on StraightTalk.

Ok this is what I'm thinking, please let me know if this will or will not work.
I think I'm going to preorder the note 4 through best buy, a verizon version. If I trade in any working phone I will get a $200 gift card.
My questions are: If I don't have service with Verizon, can I still preorder a note 4 from Bestbuy? If so, will it be locked? If so, will they unlock it for me to use with a different carrier?
I have confirmed that my US cellular note 2 is compatabile with straight talk, because the phone hasn't been released yet, is it wrong to assume that a verizon note 4 should also work with straight talk?
Obviously I need to use a straight talk SIM card and adjust some settings so data and everything work.
Thoughts? Will it work?

Okay, I'm going to make this very simple for you. I have been with straight talk since the days when having a flip phone were still cool. Besides the rare bad customer service (boo hoo) straight talk is amazing! Ever since I joined the Android phone race (I began with the LG thrill), I have used a straight talk sim. I have only ever used at&t because they're bigger and more reliable in most cases than T-Mobile. All you do is you buy an at&t phone, I did this with my Thrill, then my Galaxy s2 skyrocket and now my recently purchased Galaxy Note 4, which I'm using to type this! I paid it full price from Amazon, got 2 year insurance (accidental included) from Assurant Solutionsavailable at amAmazonccheckout for a total of $923. Then all you do is you go to a walmart and purchasean at&t compatible sstraighttalk sim or you can korder one from straighttalksim.com for like $7. The new straight talk at&t compatible Sims do support 4g LTE, I'm using it now, on speedtest it shows me about 222-25mbps download and 10+ mbps upload. In short, straight talk is great oI'm the unlimited everything plan, I spend $50.16 after taxes, which is automatically debited from your debit card if you choose to enroll in auto refill. Also, the play store has straight talk apps, the My Account app, and the Data Settings app. The data settings app will walk you through the settings you need to change to make it easy on you. Then, all you do is reboot your phone, and viola! You've got unlimited at&t 4g LTE! It's amazing, and you'll feel relieved at the price and saving over $1,200 over 2 years by paying full price and going the straight talk route. Way better than a 2 year contract, ill never do one of those! So yeah, straight talk is perfect for my at&t Galaxy note 4,worked right out of the box, no hassle, no need to unlock the phone, everything works as it should, even MMS! You get 3gb unlimited @ lte speeds. If you go over 3gb over 30 days (which I have NEVER done, except for back when they only offered 2gb) the they slow you down to 2g speeds like edge if you use at&t. Don't fearthis llimitation. It offers more data than the bug carriers 2gb and like I said, with everyday use here and there, I barely reach 2gb used, much less 3gb!

I have only ever used at&t because they're bigger and more reliable in most cases than T-Mobile. All you do is you buy an at&t phone, I did this with my Thrill, then my Galaxy s2 skyrocket and now my recently purchased Galaxy Note 4, which I'm using to type this! I paid it full price from Amazon, got 2 year insurance (accidental included) from Assurant Solutionsavailable at amAmazonccheckout for a total of $923. Then all you do is you go to a walmart and purchasean at&t compatible sstraighttalk sim or you can korder one from straighttalksim.com for like $7. The new straight talk at&t compatible Sims do support 4g LTE, I'm using it now, on speedtest it shows me about 222-25mbps download and 10+ mbps upload. In short, straight talk is great oI'm the unlimited everything plan, I spend $50.16 after taxes, which is automatically debited from your debit card if you choose to enroll in auto refill. Also, the play store has straight talk apps, the My Account app, and the Data Settings app. The data settings app will walk you through the settings you need to change to make it easy on you. Then, all you do is reboot your phone, and viola! You've got unlimited at&t 4g LTE! It's amazing, and you'll feel relieved at the price and saving over $1,200 over 2 years by paying full price and going the straight talk route. Way better than a 2 year contract, ill never do one of those! So yeah, straight talk is perfect for my at&t Galaxy note 4,worked right out of the box, no hassle, no need to unlock the phone, everything works as it should, even MMS! Could you link the exact page from Amazon where you purchased your Galaxy Note 4? I want to make absolute certain that I get the right phone to use with straight talk. I assume it needs to be AT&T factory unlocked? Does it need to be the international model? If you could link the actual phone you got working on straight talk then it would make me feel more comfortable with making sure I get exactly what I am looking for.
