Disable Data enable Wifi automatically? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to automatically disable the DATA Radio when Wifi is enabled?
I use Wifi at work and see no point in leaving my DATA radio enabled at the same time which is raining my battery. I dont mind missing MMS as I can get those later.
I found some apps in the play store that can do this but i didnt know if there was a way to do this using stock android? I hate having to go to 3rd party apps if there is factory method using the stock software.

I'm pretty certain it is disabled when wifi is connected.
Edit: added screenshot.

Yes, cell data is disabled when wifi is connected. It drops down to umts to conserve battery.
It would be nice if it switched down to gsm though, although I'm not sure if these newer radios have improved on umts power consumption relative to gsm. You might be able to achieve this with tasker or similar.
If you want an app that can automatically enable/disable wifi depending on location (based on cell tower as opposed to gps), Wi-Fi Matic works well.

Change WiFi switch to toggle EVDO?

Hey, I was wondering if there's a way to make the wifi switch toggle the EVDO connection instead. My EVDO is on pretty much all the time, which is a good thing when I'm using it frequently, such as when I'm bored (read: bathroom), or when I'm stuck in traffic. However, at work, I get a really weak EVDO signal, so it's constantly searching and draining my battery life. Is there any way to remap the wifi switch to toggle the EVDO connection instead?
P.S.- I know I could probably switch off all the apps that auto-connect to EVDO, such as WP or pRSS, but I'd rather just be able to kill and establish the whole connection instead. Color me weird.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
i dont think so, AFAIK the wifi switch is actually physically toggling power top the wifi adaptor, so theres no way to remap it with software
Use the Comm Manager button (right below the power button) and click on the Data Connection icon to disable EVDO. It will reconnect when the next autoconnecting program runs.

You can turn the wifi on from the comm manager even with the switch in the off position...

no on mine i cant...in fact i dont even have a wifi option in comm manager, however other software controls for wifi cant turn it on when the switch is off (they can turn it off when the switch is on though)
There's really no need.
EVDO goes dormant after a short while when the connection isn't active (transferring data) to conserve resources at the base station (tower) as well as your battery. So it's really not doing much because EVDO connections are initiated from your handset, not the tower.
The low signal will drain your battery a bit faster because the voice radio (also the radio for 1xRTT or "really slow data") has to keep track of towers actively and wake up every few seconds to make sure it doesn't need to ring, pick up an SMS, or tell you there's a voicemail waiting. Lower signal means your phone has to transmit at higher power. So it's not EVDO, it's voice that you have to worry about draining battery with low signal.
I would love to do this for BlueTooth since it is having so many problems. Anyone else take a look for this?

Turn off 3G data connection when display is turned off?

Is there a small utility, registry setting or similar that will allow me to have the 3G data connection disconnect automatically when the display is turned off? I usually forget to turn of the 3G data connection after using Opera, YouTube and so on and it seems to consume unnecessary battery that way.
Is there anyone here that knows how this can be accomplished or is it impossible?
Bumped because it's a very good question....are there any rule based radio en/disabler apps out there? NoData is nice, as are the others, but en/disabling on certain actions/programs would be even nicer

Does the DroidX bridge network connections?

If I have just my cell radio enabled, then I enable the WiFi - does the phone disable the data on the cell radio, or leave both enabled?
If both are enabled, then is it bridged or not? In other words, when I have my WiFi on, will I get the speed of my WifI + Cell service?
If the data connection is not bridged, then it seems pretty silly to have WiFi options on location apps, like Latitude, since this means that if you lose the WiFi connection, the phone will not know to switch back to the cell data connection.
No when wifi is enabled the phone has no use for 3g so it disables it until u turn wifi off. Oh and I use an app called quick settings from the market cause u can manually turn off everything with it and makes ur battery last way longer too

WiFi faster w/ data network mode deactivated?

Is it my imagination or do apps that use my wifi connectivity seem snappier when the data network mode is deactivated (from menu after long press on power button)? It seems like they are pulling the data faster. I am wondering if they stop to look at 3g/4g before going to wifi when data network mode is activated?
honestly, i always turn off my 3g when I'm close to a wifi connection. saves battery & its way faster
Juice Defender for the win #FTW
Y'know, I've never tried this and think I may. Wonder if it does make a difference since I'd hope WiFi would override it anyhow. I don't see the icon for it on WiFi much of the time anyway, but is that proof? Thanks.
I am curious also? So you are saying if you disable mobile data, your wifi will pull data in faster because it doesn't have to check if 3G is on?
That would be cool, cause I am on wifi almost 90% of the time - although I would probably forget to turn my 3G back on when I got to my wifi zones.

That was just a guess. It could be nothing more than my imagination - but it did seem a bit quicker to start pulling data.
I have never turned my 3g off and have noticed at times it is slow and other times it is really fast. It mostly has to do with the transmissions and receiving of packets from your attennas
The phone automatically disables 3G and 4G data when on wifi.

Disable 3g

I there way to permanentli disable 3g? I chack use only 2g network in settings but over nigh 3g turn it self on, and drain my battery (i have very bad 3g reception).
I use latest 2.3.5 rc4.
Sent using Tt.
I can't think of anything short of fresh reinstall. It's not a rom issue. as i've never encountered this problem. Good luck.
Sent from my GT.. ah, screw it!
Try using something like APNDroid. That might help.

Data
Have you disabled data connection?
No, hm... i use wireless before sleep. it disable data, and enable after turning off.
Why?
Save
It could save battery and data if your disable it. Do you have syncing enabled?
No, it`s off, and i have unlimited data plane. Only problem is that me 3g signal is very bad and phone turn 3g by itself.
Automatic
There be programs enabling 3G. Go to Dev Tools --> Show Permissions, it will load. Scroll down to 'change network connectivity' and select it. Do you see anything suspicious or familiar. Most apps ask the user to enable certain things, any that don't?
