[Q] "SD Card" files have been deleted - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Most of my files on the "SD CARD" have been deleted mysteriously. I need help trying to recovery these if possible or figuring out why it happened. The weather channel app crashed and now my SD Card is more or less empty, the odd folder has survived. But all the useful stuff is gone.
Any help is much appreciated. The phone isn't rooted or anything and is only about a month old.

Well, you might be in the wrong forum. Since you didn't post what phone you have, and this is the Galaxy s4 forum, it's difficult to point you in the correct direction.

Sorry. I have a Nexus 4. In a panic last night I left out the most important information and posted in the wrong forum. Is there a way I can move the thread.

Changing file premissions

Hello,
Today i flashed the new froyo firmware and cant write anything on my external sd card if i connect it to the pc. I rooted the phone and downloaded root explorer, but i cant manage to change the premissions of the internal sd and external sd card.
I however can change permissions to other files so the app and root is working fine.
Does it have something to do with the firmware or with my phone... i have no clue anymore. I am nearly desperate and about to downgrade to some older rom. Saw some other guys posting same problem but noone seemed to care. I am opening a new thread as my 2 questions didn't get answered in the development section under the froyo debate...
Please again if anyone is so kind to reveal the secret to this i am sure many people will be happy...
tnx again and sorry for spamming but as i sad i am loosing my hopes

[q] help with sd card

i been trying to reformat my sd card for 3 hrs now and i get "windows cannot complete format at this time" error..i even go into and try to manually delete programs and folders and they just show back up..how can i get these folders off my sd so i can reformat?..i have searched this issue already and cant find my answer..please help..
Please post in the correct section. Your SD card's internal formatting is bad, and your card will need to be replaced.
Sry bout wrong section..is there anyway to fix.can I take a strong magnet to it.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
...what in the world would a magnet do? No, once it has lost it's format, there is no reeasonable way to recover it.
for future reference, where should i have put this..and is there an unreasonable way to fix it??
In the general section, which is where basically all questions go...and yeah, you can buy a profesional flash memory reformatter....which is around 200USD...just buy yourself a new 40 dollar SD card and be done with it.

[Q]Bug or something wrong with my XP?

I will explain my problem using an example:
I downloaded and installed "Stardunk" to my phone. it occupied 2,84MB of phone storage (i didn't open it) and I moved it to SDCard, first it said it can't be moved and second it got moved and was occupying only 864kb how is this possible?

Click to collapse
So before you moved it shows 2.84Mb then ofter it said 864Kb? If so that sounds about right to me, you only move the data files to SD not all of the files, its down to the dev to program how much if any you can move to external storage.
If you want to move more you want to root and get proper apps2sd that forces the move.
It can fail first time sometimes, who knows why, does it to me all the time, just think the sd card was in use the first time or something

[Q] AT&T GS5 SM-G900A SD Card Issues

So, I've got a weird problem. Anything moved to my SD within the phone OS is deleted (or super hidden, non accessible), pretty much instantly. If I copy something over from internal storage it will be gone very quickly, it just disappears, no errors, just gone. I have not done a factory restore and would like to avoid if possible, but if needed I can easily do it. It is rooted on 4.4.2, pretty much the only thing I have done to it using root capabilities is to enable external SD card access through apps other than My Files. I know something I did there could easily have messed this up but I am stumped. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Storage Problem

Hey guys, Im on rooted N preview on my 6p right now. When I first got my device around December, I had a strange bug which let my complete internal storage go into another folder above it. I just deleted the files, and everything was okay again. It seems like it has somehow returned, but this time I cant delete the folders/files with any Filemanager. I have added a few screenshots below for better understanding. So basically some files from my Internal Storage duplicated into the emulated folder, but they are files from around a month ago. It wouldnt mind me, but there is a 4 GB Twrp backup in there which wastes a lot of space. Any help is appreciated. Also sorry for my bad English, im from Germany
