HTC One Not Coming for Verizon??!! - One (M7) General

WTF is wrong with Verizon... GS2, Nokia920 and Now HTC ONE... Even with NOTE 2, Verizon has managed to take away some of its best features.
Now all I can get is the GS4. I really wanted HTC ONE Badly...

It sucks for VZW customers but also sucks for HTC. The DNA's not selling well on VZW and once the SGS4's released won't sell at all. VZW has almost as many subscribers as all of Japan and HTC getting them and the other three U.S. carriers to sell the One under its own name would have been a huge win. VZW not carrying it means HTC lost a little under half the U.S. as a sales opportunity for the One and the DNA's not strong enough against the SGS4 to move the sales needle for them. It's a shame. When asked about devices with larger than 5" displays on an analyst's call in February HTC's CFO said "yes, in the coming months." So maybe there will be a "Droid" by HTC phablet on VZW in the future.

The only thing keeping me on VZW is there coverage. If it wasn't for that I'd be gone.
As much as I despise htc because they've left a bad taste in my mouth with this phone I'd like to see the one come to VZW

The source is false. I checked htc usa's tweets on twitter. They never posted that
Also the link that the person from twitter refers back to on talk android has been taken down but after some research on my home pc this is indeed true that VZW will not carry the HTC one which to me is just odd in every way

Verizon did get the Note 2?
Verizon is a carrier that wants to have their way with a device. If they can't put their carrier branding all over it and make a weird commercial they don't want it.
CDMA carriers always miss out/ late getting phones. It's best to be on GSM if you like to change phones

[Q] When is vzw releasing the Play

Is there any news regarding this? Its like we are always the last to get new devices... and news about them.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Sorry i dont know
Verizon officially now acknowledges the Xperia Play, but don't get too happy. It's listed as coming soon, in an online catalog for Winter 2011.
That's a huge window of time... but at least VZ is now saying something.
http://engt.co/jy11sc
I have checked every day for the past month with nothing. All of the news was on Rogers releasing the play. So hopefully now the only thing to focus on is Verizons release date.
Sent from my ERIS ADR6200 using XDA App
Out of curiosity I dropped into my local Verizon store and found a duplicate paper copy of the same online catalog, "Your Guide" except it was marked Spring/Summer. It has the Xperia Play listed the same way, as "Coming Soon". Interestingly enough, the latest FCC entry showed a phone with both a CDMA radio and a SIM slot, so people thought it was either a global phone or LTE capable. The new publication pretty much proves it's capable of neither. It will be CDMA 3G only. That is, unless Verizon doesn't fact-check it's own phones before printing out thousands of these publications to put in-store. It will also come with an 8GB card. Seems pretty standard.
http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/9165/vzguide.jpg
They don't tell reps anything so of course he had no idea when it is coming or any details about it.
It could launch on the 12th of May, but the HTC Trophy is supposed to launch that day as well... according to rumors and speculation of course. There hasn't been anything pointing to release this week either.
Cool, thanks for all the good info

Looks like the wait may be a bit longer. May 26th if all goes well, and that's not even a confirmed date by VZ themselves but someone on the inside that knows something.
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/0...or-the-droidx2-lg-revolution-and-xperia-play/
I got tired of waiting and just bought an off contract model of the Rogers phone to use on AT&T. I'm sure I might regret that later but oh well. I already have AT&T so it's not a huge deal to me.

My guess is they are still waiting for Sony to release another update to make it a little more stable or Verizon doesn't want six phones coming out at once. My guess is the update is whats holding them back. I remember with my blackberry storm we ended up waiting 2 more months before we got the update that would make our phones usable. All because Verizon didn't approve of it.
I bet it's also partly because your average techie still doesn't understand that Sony Ericsson and Sony are two different business entities, and the US sure is in Sony hating mode right now over the PSN compromise. I'm sure VZ doesn't want to launch a phone that won't be successful out the door, despite the fact that the Play doesn't even use the PSN network.

Do u Think Sprint Will Get The Galaxy Nexus? And When?
This was spoken about on another thread, they're saying never, since Nexus is prized for its LTE capabilities, and Sprint is deploying LTE for the first Quarter of 2012. After speaking with Sprint Reps a week ago, they also told me LTE is underway on their new towers, but that it won't be an impressive coverage until the next 5 years.

I've been told by an extremely reliable source that Sprint's network re-tool (including LTE) will be completed by late 2013. They are on an extremely aggressive timeline to roll it all out. They can't afford a long, drawn-out one, even if it's cheaper to do.

I half agree with this. I do think Sprint will get it, and I do think there will be 'better' options out there when it happens. However, I think I would rather have a slightly underpowered Nexus than a fully stocked Samsung/Motorola/HTC with the TW/Blur/Sense slapped on top of it.

Google Wallet?
I think Sprint should get it at some point. Google is working with Sprint for Google Wallet and the only phone that does it is the Nexus S 4G. So why wouldn't they bring the next Nexus to Sprint too? Verizon, ATT, and TMo are competing with Google for NFC payments. I figure that since the Epic Touch 4G didn't come with NFC means, they're leaving that for the Nexus phones on Sprint. Just a thought.
I thought 4.5" screen was huge on G2; GN has a 4.7".

I have no confidence in Sprint delivering anything according to a timetable. If this phone is really dependent on a network that Sprint doesn't even have yet, I'm guessing we either won't see this device at all, or, as others have said in this thread, we'll see at a point where it's lost all its cachet.

I seem to recall the Galaxy S2 listing Verizon and that didn't end up meaning anything so who knows
Well, to me it only makes sense that they include Sprint. I mean, the Nexus S eventually came to sprint, did it not? I don't see why Google would exclude a carrier they once worked with, especially if they want more sales.
I hope that link is true Zanderman. I'm pretty sure it is, but there's always that little bit of doubt.

I will probably jump to the AT&T note rather than waiting for sprint note. Part of it is that I want to be able to grab a pre-paid SIM when going to europe, which the Sprint version won't be able to do unless Sprint does something drastic. Part of it is that my company has a contract with AT&T for a 20% discount on plans, etc.

I'm in the exact same boat, the only thing that drew me to sprint is the unlimited data, however now that I work 50+ hours a week I think 2 gigs might be fine for me. (I normally burn through 8 lol)

I'm not sure.
I won't be on Sprint when my contract is up. They are ripping me the **** off.
So it depends on whether I go T-Mobile or Verizon.
I just got my Galaxy Nexus today! It's so beautiful and it couldn't have come at a better time since my Epic jumped (not literally) off my stove to the saltillo tile floor. I had just ordered this phone a couple hours before "The incident". I'm sure going to miss this community.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I think I'm getting ready to jump ship permanently from Sprint. I haven't had many problems with them, but their network is very inconsistent. I have unlimited data on AT&T and ordered the GSM Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store today for $399. That's hard to beat in my opinion. I might keep Sprint to see what happens with LTE, but only time will tell.
There's no sense for me to even consider which phone I'll upgrade to until I know when the LTE network is coming to my city. I'll also be evaluating how my performance on the network improves (if it all) due to Network Vision. If I didn't have such an unbelievable deal with Sprint I might have moved on long ago, but I hate the pay-through-the-nose, limited data plans on the other carriers.
An ideal scenario would be that in the fall, with LTE on here, and my contract up for renewal, the Sprint version of the GSIII comes out like the Epic, as the clear spec leader with all the trimmings including physical keyboard and a totally solid build quality. And no plan rate increases.

Hands down, a Note - there is no comparison of that device to any other. I've always appreciated convergence of technologies, and there is no better example today than a Note.
Sprint offers a lot which other carriers don't, but after a while you certainly miss what you really want, and that is a solid network, which Sprint isn't. The day the Note arrives on Verizon (hopefully as a world phone), I'm grabbing it regardless of the number of months left on my contract with Sprint.

Verizon android phones,new htc?

So currently I have a tbolt and its on its last leg. Everytime its time for me yo upgradr it seems like its always that transition period where its a while before any great new devices. Well I need an android device now. Not to thrilled about going with a moto device even if the maxx has great battery life. Nexus just doesnt seem well built. The lg spectrum looks good spec wise. Wondering if I root it to get rid of that terrible lg sw will be ok or should I just get an improved tbolt and go with the rezound. I really want an htc one x but mo timeframe vzw will be getting. You're right! Looks like it is supposed to come out this month.
Verizon's CEO put out a press release specifying that they won't be getting any of the new HTC phones within the foreseeable future.
The Rezound has great development going on with it and is definitely a quality device. If you're getting a phone now it's what I'd recommend. VZ is going Nazi style on their Moto bootloaders so that's definitely something I wouldn't buy myself.
I would upgrate now before they take your unlimited data away.

Should I get Sprint GS3?

Hi,
I was debating whether I should ask this question here or at Spring GS3 forum. I think asking here is more fitting.
I am wondering if I should stay with Sprint or not. I am honestly sick of slow data speed and delayed updates for CDMA phones.
But with wonderful dev magic shown here for our Epic4G, I think there won't be much software issues for GS3.
My alternative is Tmo's prepaid monthly4G for $30 per month. I really like the idea of owning GSM phone and getting unhindered updates from google. But there aren't any nexus phone that is better spec'ed then GS3. Also buying GS3 outright is pretty expensive, +$500.
So, if any of you guys switched to GS3, how are you guys? Any issues or regrets?
How is Sprint's data speed? I just found out from today's news that Sprint's gonna roll out LTE to LA, Boston and NYC area within months.
I just don't want to risk locking in 2 years with Sprint and be miserable...

Glad I stopped by ive never even heard of wireflyfriends.com.....awesome I'm available for an upgrade and been wanting the nexus. Awesome deals they have here!
I'd never heard of the 'friends' site either. Just looked though and only certain people can apparently use the 'friends' site....it says Simplexity employees and their family & friends (hence the name basically). Wirefly itself though I was already well aware of.

I notice that too and went through almost the entire checkout process and it never asked me if I was a Simplexity employee. It also didnt show up on the site rating function through AVAST which most sites I go to have ratings for.

To directly respond to the OP, regardless of what you decide on phonewise, if it were me, I'd definitely stick with Sprint, particularly if T-mo is the only alternative you're considering. Yeah, Sprint's speeds where NV hasn't hit yet suck, but if they stay on schedule, everything is supposed to be upgraded by the end of next year. And alot more is being done by the end of this year than I'd have imagined when I first heard of it a few months ago.

Well, I am in LA area so I kinda expect LTE to open soon...
But, T-mo prepaid already has HSPA+ working well in my area.
I am guaranteed at least 3mbps with Tmo HSPA+ for sure, and that is all I need.
I like their cheaper plan, but it is bummer to pay lump sum of ~$350 for a year old G-Nex or ~$600 for GS3...
I am hoping for a new nexus device, but no solid rumors about when it will be available... just speculations.
It might come next year, which is too much waiting for me...
If Sprint somehow offers me free GS3 I would stay, but I don't think Sprint can. So I am ready to walk out...
It comes down to if you want the fastest software updates or the best hardware available..
I went gs3 because the hardware is amazing.. and touchwiz really is nice on this thing.. its not like the epic where it just kind of makes things uglier.. it actually adds a lot of usable features on the gs3.. to the point where I would rather run a custom tw than aosp.
P.s. the screens bigger too!
