At last, the wait is over for Oppo's latest flagship device. Launched in Beijing earlier, the Find 5 comes with pretty much all the top ingredients in the current market -- many of which had been teased by the company multiple times already: 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 chip with 2GB RAM, a 2,500mAh battery and Android 4.1.2. There's also NFC, and on top of that, the Find 5 will come with two NFC tags (remember LG's Optimus LTE Tag and Sony's SmartTags?) plus a special version of Sina Weibo that uses the phone's NFC to let users instantly follow each other.
The 13-megapixel, 5fps camera on the back isn't just about numbers, as it also packs fast hardware-enabled HDR for both photos and video! Oppo claims it's the first in the mobile industry to carry this awesome feature. Additionally, the main camera can capture slow motion of up to 120fps, though it isn't clear whether the resolution is reduced to achieve this. On the other side of the device there's also a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, which beats most phones these days. Audio-wise the Find 5 features Dirac HD, a technology that's embraced by the likes of BMW, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Datasat; making Oppo the first mobile phone brand to join the party. The included earphones are fine-tuned for Dirac, naturally.

Find 5 could have been the first phone with HDR video if it had been released just a month ago... Now Sony beat Oppo to it, with a phone that's superior in other aspects as well

I'm pretty sure it was the first phone with HDR but it was only sold in China at the time. It was released in China first and has been available for a couple months now in China, I'm pretty sure. It was released a month ago in the US, They just sold one batch though in the US and it sold out in minutes, it crashed the Oppo servers from people trying to purchase, they wasn't ready for the demand, I guess and server went down, but some lucky people got in on the first batch. They are selling in the US and other countries now. I prefer the second batch personally anyways because of the button etchings, see pic below. Now they have more in stock so its easier to get at www.oppostyle.com if they don't sell out again soon, I already purchased mine so I got one coming 32GB version? the second batch in stock now ships in 1-2 weeks but people are already starting to get processed emails.

I just watched a review on the Z, and next to the OPPO the colors look washed out and dull, and the viewing angles are sad. Also the camera isn't getting the best reviews either. So its arguable that the Z is superior.

Xperia Z and Oppo Find 5, have the same Sony Exmor RS camera sensor
The display is awful on the Xperia Z IMO, if you are not looking at the screen straight on, it gets really washed out, and another thing is that it is such a fingerprint magnet. Every review that I have saw, the device has fingerprints all over it and that is one thing I can’t stand personally. The Xperia Z does not have Gorilla Glass 2 either.
I would hate to have a stand/charger/holder for at night while trying to watch a movie on the Xperia Z, you would have to have it directly in front of you to get a clear picture,. You couldn’t have any angles or the video would look washed out. The only advantage I see is that it has an SD card slot, but this may not be an advantage for everyone. I have the 32GB version of the Find 5 and with all my Cloud Storage accounts, so I’m fine with 32GB. You can’t use the SD card anyways for the use with games or apps, which Google screwed up by doing this for some reason.
The Xperia Z is a nice device but, I was just turned off by the display, and all the fingerprints it picks up. I don’t think the Z is superior in any way, both devices have the same specs, but the Z has an SD card slot. Both have the Sony Exmor RS camera sensor, so it’s a pretty close call, it comes down to which device you like better, Both phones are nice to have though.

Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but based on the picture the device looks very sexy. Still have to see the thickness and views from other angles.
If it comes out, will you ditch the Arc and make the upgrade?
i am waiting for its launch or announce date
by the way it can be fake or rumor too.........
the Duo has been an ongoing rumor on some asian forums since january and that it would be a flagship phone for the second half of 2011.
If I would've wanted a dual core phone in the first place, I wouldn't have bothered buying a SE Xperia Arc. I would've bought a Galaxy SII, Sensation oder Optimus Speed instead. I don't think dual core phones are necessary right now. There are no real big advantages. Single core phones work very well, especially the arc.
i put no way since i got my arc yesterday
That photo's fake as F***... the dock bar's not even at the bottom.... They won't be bringing out a Dual core this year.. it will be the 2012 model..
No
I definitely wouldn't. The Arc works like a charm for me.
No, my arc still more sexy than that thing

I'm pretty confident they'll have one out before the end of the year - maybe announced around September time.
Without knowing more about the specs, I can't comment whether I would purchase one out of my own money or not.
But I reckon I'd end up with a Duo when it was released anyway.

Also, I don't think they expect Arc users to ditch their phones after using them for a couple of months... I think its more for the X10 users (and SE fanboys)
I definitely wouldn't.Arc has the best smartphone design..
That picture doesn't look like a Sony Ericsson phone! come on guys, look at X10, Arc and all the others; they look cool and sexy. The picture looks more like a Samsung phone. I'll check with SE tomorrow and come back.

I would consider
dual core will be the way for future phone. I will consider to change if the spect is significally better than my current Arc.
I'll be considering a dual-core Android phone come 2012, and not this year. Just hoping it will be coming from SE with it's 16mp cam with all it's full 1080HD video recording.

If anyone is interested.... It is of no surprise the Samsung Galaxy SII has been voted Best Camera Phone of class in this months 'Android Magazine'.
This is the line up:-
HTC Sensation ~ 3 Stars
Produced some passable shots although sometimes lacking detail, while video motion could be jerky.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc ~ 4 Stars
A great screen and camera features, let down by lower-spec video recording and a lack of editing software.
Samsung Galaxy SII ~ 5 Stars
The most consistent results of all the cameras tested, with some nice editing software to top things off!
LG Optimus 2X ~ 3 Stars
Can produce some nice macro shots with accurate colour matching, but let down by its video quality.
Android Magazine asked independent users to pick out the best prints from the batch they had.
Tests also included outdoor brightness conditions which favoured the SGS2 very well.
Final test included the ability to not only take a shot/video but editing which again the SGS2 won admirably.
Nice to see GSII winning it but I've used ARC and maybe only me found the Camera a bit better than ours.

Arc is good but video not on par with SGS2.

They did make good camera's but that was till nokia came out with the n95.
since then the sony ericsson module has never been on the top.
Don't know which N95 you had, but the one I had was never in a million years better than my k810i or indeed my xperia x10 for pictures. Nokia pics, certainly on N95 seemed much like Iphone shots, cartoony and over bright etc.
Right now i'd say the Arc is a better camera than the Galaxy S2 but the video lets the Arc down.
N8 I don't know, the pictures i've seen on it look marvelous, but its not android so doesnt count lol

Sony Xperia S Camera comparison vs Arc

I went to a Sony Mobile "Insider on Tour" event tonight and got the chance to have a look at the S, P, and U.. I also took 2 photo's one with my current arc, and one with the S.. I've stuck them together, side by side and here's the result.. The camera on the S is incredible.
[EDIT : FYI - I took both pictures with default settings.. and the S photo was taken from standby to test the quick shot feature.. it took the photo in under 2 seconds.. easily. The 2 photo's were cropped and I used the left hand side of each to make this image, no post processing on the image quality at all.. just cropped and added the labels.]

Interesting. Look at the seat numbers, and the seats at the back... The Arc resolves them, the S does not.
The S may have better shadow noise, but it looks like the Arc has better detail. Of course, for the S, you did not have that bright spotlight in the frame to throw off metering either

I think he cropped that out of the S' photo.
Not a fair comparison IMO. Would be a much better one without those light sources.
Anyways, it does seem the picture taken by arc to have more resolved detail.
Haha, Arc seems better!
Could you post some more pics, please?
Snapdragon S3 keeps me away from the new devices, but the camera might change that.

I did crop the two photos...just took the left side of each.
The handling of the light sources was what made it such a good comparison..
I only had it in my hand for 2 minutes so only managed to take that photo and Bluetooth it to my arc..
The s handled amazingly well.. And the camera really was very impressive..

I have unfortunately read a review for the Xperia s that states the camera as having the same jpeg compression as the arc s, ray and neo. I truly hope this isn't the case as I was extremely let down but the quality from the arc s camera.
I believe this review might have been posted on Engadget today?
If anyone has some proper hands on experience with some outdoors shots compared to arc s, iPhone 4s and sgs2, please post your findings on which has the better detail and quality, megapixels withstanding.

[Q] Which smartphone is best Xperia S, Google Nexus 4 or Samsung S2?

I want to buy cheaper smartphone so I need help to choose between Sony Xperia S, Google Nexus 4 LG, Samsung S II or HTC One S
I doubt between Sony and LG
I don't like the fact that Xperia S has not responsive buttons, bad view angle, not enough support by android updates, low quality of camera shooting at night, i hate the lg nexus because it is made of glass and easy breakable, low quality camera, low internal storage without card slot, I think that LG is not quality brand
N4.
Definitely the Nexus 4.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
wrong comparison, should be N4, GS3, Droid Dna and Note 2
Nexus 4.
if you are ever going to drop your phone and dont believe in cases... then you need the at&t or international verson of the gs2.
Nexus 4 by a long shot. The other phones can't even compete on many levels
I wouldn't be put off just because it's LG, it has easily one of the best build qualities for an android phone
The camera isn't bad by any means, it's in fact been praised by many professional photographers for producing realistic photos which you can edit yourself. Plus it's not as easy to break as you might think from reading some of the threads on here
Top of the line current generation hardware vs previous generation hardware, which I think would be the middle of the pack currently.. no contest.

what about camera of nexus, i heard that it does not have not sure if digital or optical zoom?
if I buy silicone case and a bumper would that prevent from breaking the glass?

I don't have the phone yet, but I digress...
Unfortunately, nothing to my knowledge besides Japanese 'super phones', as well as some other concept phones, has optical zoom, yet. Miserable, in my opinion, as the technology has been there for years (look up 'origami lens').
As for digital zoom, in my not-so-humble opinion, it is an absolute farce and one of the most misleading advertising 'perks' to ever be baked into a product. It does nothing but stretch the pixels on an existing photograph, decreasing quality and limiting what you could have caught in your shot. Post-processing (ie. cropping) can often yield higher-quality results than can on-the-fly digital zoom, so to me it is largely pointless.
So yes, to my knowledge, the N4 has digital zoom...but I strongly encourage you to avoid using it all too often, unless you need to effectively crop a picture that you will be emailing/texting or such...then it has a bit of a point.
(okay, admittedly, it does have a bit of a point on phones, but I just can't stand it when I see a camera advertised as having some ridiculous level of digital zoom, as if it is some amazing thing...far too many times have I heard people who are shopping for a lower-end camera get caught up on comparing digital zoom factors)
---
Edit: As for the bumper bit, from what I have read, the phone *does* break relatively-easily, if you were to drop it, especially on a hard surface. Having a case/bumper does, per my reading, significantly decrease the chance of this happening.
The n4 is in a different league compared to those two. Its not even comparable.

The Nexus 4 is by far the newest and most powerful of the bunch you listed.
so neither of them offers optical zoom?
I can't buy the Nexus 4 from google play store, because still my country is not listed, what do you think what will be price to buy from somewhere else after December 12 ?
Which one's battery last longer, every site has different results
I just came out of the S2 to get the N4 and I have to say that the N4 beats it out of the water by far. I've flashed AOKP and CM just to try to get that stock android feel and it just doesn't compare. The endless bugs drove me insane. Go for the N4, I'm positive you won't regret it at all.

You have screenshots in OP where you can read it's still S800/801 - I really hope S805 will be available for Z3 - it's not good to have three-four devices with a same chipset (same/similar or old cpu but overclocked - to higher values, of course)

To be honest, I don't see a need to upgrade higher pixel for the camera. What's more important is the optimization of the camera in my humble opinion.
Also, as long as Sony continue naming its flagship Z3,Z4 and so on, then I believe it will continue the omnibalance design of the Z. Usually Sony introduce a new product name if it comes with a new design. Then again, its just an opinion of mine.. I could be wrong.
Regarding the S801, if Sony were to use it on Z3 then Z3 would be the last flagship of the Z line. Since they will look to clear all their SoC stocks.
Personally, if Z3 is released similar to what the leaks are, then Z2 would probably the best option to stay with.
Looks the same...
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z2.
is it me, or are these phones getting too damn big? the Z3 is the size of a NOTE 3! come on Sony, that's nuts. do what you want with the Ultra for a phablet, but please, keep your phones at a reasonable size. the Z2/GS5/M8 are already a bit beyond what i think is "too big" (perfect size would probably be a GS4).
why not:
1. make the bezels and top and bottom smaller -- instead of bigger!
2. increase earpiece/speaker volume from the Z2
3. put a next-gen CPU/GPU combo in it, but maintain standard HD resolution. (forget about pointlessly chasing 2K pixels on a bloody handset like dumb LG/Samsung are trying to do)
4. use Gorilla Glass 3 (or 4, if that exists by the time of release)
5. optimize the camera software/hardware so that 20MB photography isn't only manual
6. increase brightness of the screen for outdoor viewing
7. make 64GB and worldwide LTE bands standard issue
this would be perfect.
