[Q] Use RK802 to mirror N7 display on TV with remote desktop - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Did any of u guys try this?
Is there an app that could be both server an a viewer on an android device?
If that is so, we could mirror our N7 display on big screen, and make our TVs smart for $50 or so...?
Just to make it clear, I'd like suggestions from guys that tried this if possible?

Nexus 7 with MirrorOp/McTivia?

Has anyone tried this? Apperantly you can mirror android or a whole bunch of OS's with a MirrorOp app and the Mctivia reciever. Just seeing if anyone has this and has used it with the Nexus 7.
Here is a youtube video of android mirroring.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBktJ6tT6r8
Here is a link to the mirrorop site... http://www.mirrorop.com/index.html
Here is a link to the Mctivia receiver site.... http://www.awindinc.com/mctivia/
Let me know what you think..
Thanks!
+1 Has anyone tried this with the N7?!?
very interested in hearing how this works
Yes, MirrorOp Sender works with my Nexus 7. You can download their Windows Receiver to try mirroring N7 to Windows PC first. But you need to root your N7. Hope Google can open screen capture permission for these kind of screen capture apps to work without rooting. N7 doesn't support Miracast and MHL.Google should open the door for the software developers to develop screen mirroring apps on Android OS.

I thought the great advantage, the very ethos, of Android OS is that it was open source and you wouldn't have any proprietary BS games like apple plays. But here Google goes limiting this otherwise fantastic device for no good reason. I'll by an mhl adaptor. They don't even have to add a port. Just let me mirror my screen!

Pc screen mirror / use as monitor

Heeey guyz, I want to use my n7 as monitor to keep the laptop in a drawer...
kainy, splashtop, I really didn't find these useful. the main goal is to have an acceptable latency on games.
also, I have a 720p monitor on my laptop, so, changing the resolution to have full 1080 output would be great instead of a scaled image...
can anyone help me?? thank you all
I use iDisplay as a secondary display, it uses USB connection instead of over WiFi.
The refresh rate isn't fast enough to play games on though. An HDMI connection would work better, but I'm not sure if the nexus 7 has HDMI input (it can output with an adapter).

I have used "splashtop 2" which is a free app (paid version allows access even from other locations via the web) and uses WiFi to control your PC and view the exact desktop. It supports windows 8 and all the touch controls, essentially turning your device into a full windows tablet, though I wouldn't try and game with it. I just picked up my n7, so I can't vouch specifically for this device but it worked great on my galaxy Nexus and lg optimus g.
Feel free to pm me if you have any questions I can help with.
Edit - I totally missed the already tried splash top and the desire to use for gaming. As far as I know, hdmi->slim port would be the only tolerable (frame wise) way to game from the PC displayed on the tab screen. I'll see if I can dredge up any info that will help.

Have you got any solution? I am also looking for it.

Any way to get a Android TV like experience?

Currently it's kinda hard to navigate because it's not possible to type with joycons. Apps like YouTube are also impossible to use in docked mode. Does anyone already experimented a bit and got a better experience?
You could try to remote control your switch with your smartphone.
Something like DroidMote should work. I might try DroidMote myself but the Server app is paid and I don't really want to add my Google account to the switch (I am not using GAPPS on switch). Maybe buying it on my phone, backing up with Titanium Backup and restoring it on the switch will do the trick.
You *may* be able to get an android tv bluetooth remote and connect it. I have not tried.
Kodi can give you a great dashboard for an htpc setup with a custom theme. You can even have it auto launch when you boot into android so you never see the android interface just a nice tv setup. That's how I have my Android tv boxes. I use one of these style remotes as well for the keyboard:
https://www.amazon.com/ILEBYGO-Back...e+tv+keyboard&qid=1564503866&s=gateway&sr=8-4
You will want to use Android TV apps for landscape apps like youtube etc.
I use one of these when it's in docked mode. Just have the dongle plugged into the dock and you have an easy to use mouse and keyboard.
https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Rii-Wireless-Keyboard-Raspberry/dp/B00Z81U3YY
Try hal launcher and the leakback keyboard.
sorry for kidnapping your thread, but when you use docked mode, does it go to fullscreen? Mine stays with black bars up and down... would say that it's not outputting the correct resolution...
Just want to recommend airscreen so you can use it as a Chromecast.
Replace the default launcher with TV Launcher or HALauncher. Use a blue tooth or wireless keyboard until the soft keyboard get fix. The current Amazon Fire TV remote can be paired using blue tooth and works with this android build.
I think would be great if someone with more experience could port this solution https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0ByIKEmoQi-hpYXBpbV9Sb3JFeVk
It is way to convert Shield Tablet into Android TV Shield. I've found this pdf with guide and files in zips folder. It obviously doesn't flash because Lineage has different file structure, but maybe it doesn't require much tweaking. It would be great, because it comes with Chromecast support and there are plenty Android TV apps which require full Android TV structure.
The scripts itself seems compatable, the only thing that needs proper porting would be TV Gapps. If anyone can port these successfully let me know.
Think it shouldn't be to hard to transform the OS into a Android TV. Just don't have a Switch to play with it, but i really like the Idea... Think i will grab a Switch around Christmas and make it happen...
is it technically possible to implement framerate switching and widevine level 1 support for drm protected content playback in hd in the switch android port?
see my questions here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ni...wers/to-change-tv-refreshrate-docked-t3992615
i'm really curious about that.
would be awesome to watch stuff with the proper refreshrate for smooth playback and the drm protected content in hd in docked mode
