Unlock Frequencies - One (M7) General

So on the Note 2 (I317/I317M variant), the techies have been able to modify the modem file (through the Qualcomm software) to enable AWS HSPA and DC-HSPA. You think we will be able to do the same here with the HTC One ATT / Canadian units?

From what I read, there will be two variants per usual...but what I find interesting is the T-Mobile variant WILL support all HSPA bands + ATT (or Bell / Rogers in Canada) LTE meaning the T-Mobile variant (bloatware aside, and physical carrier branding on unit) would be the preferred model.

Guess we will have to import it from usa to use on Wind mobile...shame

Too bad the T-Mo units have so much branding.
Now that the phone has launched, maybe someone will figure out a way to work the Qualcomm firmware to unlock the HSPA AWS bands.

With all the devs around here, the bands and s-off will probably come quick.

Has anyone figured this out yet using the QPST method in the Qualcomm software like we do with Samsung?

I was going to start looking into this. But someone has an S-OFF for the One coming soon?
If so might as well just flash the t-mobile radio then.

No problem! I was pleasantly suprised when I got the phone. It does have a "beats audio" logo painted on the back, not sure if you care about that. It can be easily removed with nailpolish remover.

canada/usa users opinion plz :-)

ok, i am pretty happy with my x10a but will be travelling to key west florida in about a month. what id like to know is whats the latest android device in the usa with a hard keyboard? ive heard about the droid global but not much. im asking because i am from canada and we are always 6+ months behind cell technology so id like to pickup a new device as good or better than the x10. i do a massive amount of texting which is why im thinking of the hard keyboard option. i am also with rogers canada so i would need advice as to what phones would even be compatible on their network, and obiously be able to sim unlock it.
i look forward to your guys opinion, as im lost on devices outside of canada thanks guys!

You are probably better off getting advice from people in Europe/Asia/Middle East. They get all the good stuff before us is North America.

For 3G, at&t and Rogers use the same band, I think 800/850/1900. T-mobile uses a different band, I think 900/1700. Most European/Asian/Middle Eastern countries use 2100. South America and Australia, use a mix of both depending on the operator.

You could go into a AT&T store while you are here, and get a free "GO" phone which is a monthly prepaid thing for your stay. And get a Google Voice number before you leave.
Leave the X10 connected and set it to forward the calls to the Google Voice (I don't know if Rogers would charge you for this or you would need a US google number or not) and link the Google Voice to your temporary Go phone. Depending on how much you were willing to pay, you could get a free flip phone or pay for anything up to a blackberry.
You would need access at least once to a PC after getting the phone to reconfigure Google to transfer the calls and SMS the phone with the texted version of any voice message.
Even Walmart has these too: http://www.walmart.com/ip/AT-T-Nokia-C3-Prepaid-GoPhone-Blue/15140306
the HTC desire Z seems like a viable option!
To be honest rogers had the x10 before att got it. They aren't that far behind the north American curve, but if you want a good phone, get a bell desire z. Then unlock it. The bell one has a front facing camera and it'll work on rogers. Plus it has the hard fold out keyboard.

anyone know why and how to fix it?

Did you check to make sure what GSM frequencies the carrier uses (sorry not familiar with El Salvador)? This sounds very similar to people trying to use G2's on AT&T / iPhones on T-mobile. Not all GSM carriers use the same frequencies for their service. If voice is working, but 3G data is not, this is very likely the issue. For example, AT&T operates both 2g and 3g on 850/1900, whereas T-mobile operates 2g on 850/1900 and 3G on 1700/2100; hence why voice and Edge can work, but 3G cannot.
Poking around a little, the X10 mini world phone version has an 850/900/1800/1900 for edge and 1900/2100 frequency radio for 3G data connection, although there are AT&T versions with slightly different bands too, which you may have I'm not sure.
The G2 runs on T-mobile in the US and has a 850/900/1800/1900 for edge and 1700/2100 radio for 3G data.
All according to Wikipedia from what I can scrounge up right now.
BTW I feel proud that I did this research lol. Enlightening.
I think tigo is at 850, is there anything I can do at this point?

If Tigo doesn't run 1700/2100 3g, there isn't anything you can do short of selling your G2 and buying a European Desire Z (same as G2) with the proper frequencies assuming you want the same type of phone. Shoulda checked this out lol just cuz it has a SIM slot doesn't mean it "just works" haha. sorry!

I believe that the Canadian/European Desire Z is the world phone edition which carries band support for all GSM bands. It is the USA T-Mobile G2 that carries support for the GSM bands specifically for the US market. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yup. The real question is the US gonna get the nerfed version. I want no part of that.
So is it going to be like the Galaxy Nexus where you could buy the Canadian version which was the same phone.. Will the Canadian phone be same but with the 1700 band or will there b differences?
---
To each their own.
I have not read anywhere that the international version, i9300, is a pentaband HSDPA phone. Also, GSMArena has it listed as a quad band so it will not work on T-Mobiles 4G network. It looks like if/when it does come to T-Mo, it will need to be a customized version.
Prob a customized Canadian version...
The good news is that Tmo users do not need to wait another 6 months till the SGS III comes out in Tmo
Any idea on whether this will have the same processor as the international version?
I'm betting it will have a s4 processor. I hope I'm wrong....

Mobilicity doesn't have LTE. we just have wait and see, what they do to the phone.
This just means a custom aws version will also be released. Doesn't look like the international version has T-Mobile hspa. So it will probably not come with the exynos CPU etc.

what's wrong with the S4 Qualcomn?
it;s as beefy as any of the new SOC, even faster than the nVidia Tegra
I personally would like the GSM NA variants to be as close to the international version as possible. Mostly because of the ease of porting custom ROMs. And I really do like my GT-I9100's physical home button. Hope that makes it over, but I doubt it (the NA models never had it, so getting one on the GS3 will break the design/UI continuity).
so how does one go about getting Mobilicity or wind mobile's gs3? bestbuy.ca doesnt ship outside of Canada. some carrier's website dont let you buy phone @ full price.

Yup and if you get a T-Mobile HTC One, you can fully convert it to a Google Edition, receive all the OTA updates ect. PLUS it offers support for the AWS (1700/2100) frequency band that the Google Edition is lacking. The good thing about the T-Mobile version also is it has no carrier branding on the outside so you won't be able to tell it apart from the Google Edition exterior wise either.
The real kicker is it's also cheaper than the Google Edition.
Here at XDA we applaud the ones who "took one for the team" and purchased the Google HTC One. Without them, we wouldn't have gotten the full dump to convert our devices.

1. s-off
2. Convert model number to Google edition model #
3. Change cid to 1111111 or Google edition cid.

Step 2 was a scary one for me... my phone didn't react ANYTHING like the poster said it would (grey blotchy screen, nope never came up.. rebooted right back into some sort of jacked up hboot) and it wouldn't boot or anything for a few minutes, then it worked fine. ATT, developer edition and Google edition are essentially same phones.. They all lack the AWS band which T-Mobile model has. So the ideal HTC One is the T-Mobile one which is fully covered to the Google edition. Now you have best hardware radio capabilities with the best software
As far as upcoming Verizon, that's a turd since it's a CDMA phone which is pretty useless outside of Verizon.

From what I understand though, they Google Edition S4 rom does work on the Verizon S4. Is it the case that the rom will most likely work but it just won't be able to receive OTA updates?
It's been discussed that the GSM HTC One and the CDMA version from Sprint have different partition maps. That, and the CDMA radio are why roms from GSM don't work on CDMA phone.

The answer used to be Sprint is CDMA not GSM so you have the wrong phone if I am correct. Sorry. But now that they have LTE....
LTE is the same functionally (not bands though) among carriers. You may need to call Sprint and see if they have some sort of blocking enabled for that device.

It won't ever work with your Sprint SIM because the H815 model is GSM only - and Sprint is CDMA

Huh?
I haven an H815. Its most certainly not just wifi, matter of fact the Wifi is only good for data, not calls. I have it working with T-Mobile with no issues.

I am about to order one from ebay (h815). I'm not sure if that will work with tmo since it's missing the aws 1700/2100 3g band. Isn't that a necessary band for mms?
Also looks like it's missing lte 12 but doesn't matter since Chicago hasn't been approved for that band anyway and it'll be a while before that happens.

Havent had any trouble with mms, sending photos from my G4 on t-mo to wifes G3.
What are the differences between the F500 and the H815? Here in Australia, the F500 is approximately $100 more expensive than the H815 on eBay. Of course, it hasn't been released yet and I believe that, when it is released, it will cost around $900. ( -_-)
In Australia, if you're with Telstra and want the new 4GX network, you need the 815 or 815T. You need one that has 700MHz(B28) band, and it seems both of them do have this. If you're with Optus, the 815 is missing an LTE band and you'd be best going for the 815T.

I'm with the crappiest company; Vodafone. I didn't even know there were so many models of the G4. Thanks for that!
I don't use 4G/LTE. There's dodgy coverage in Perth and its suburbs (even just general 2G/3G) and I'm usually in reach of wifi.
I hope someone can make a list of all the models to make it easier to find the international model versus carrier models.
QD_AU on eBay are selling them for AU$799 - great price! It's the Taiwan version, the 815: http://stores.ebay.com.au/QD-Shopping-Centre/_i.html?_nkw=h815&submit=Search&_sid=138021041
They're a reputable store with lots of great feedback on places like Whirlpool.
I'm about to pull the trigger on one

Ah, yeah. I saw that. Not a bad price but why is the leather-back version the same price as the plastic cover one?
Is the F500 the international variant or the H815? Which one do you think will get the fastest updates? I really want to switch from my Nexus 5. With Google's new Photos app coming later today, I'd love to take photos on the G4 and upload them.
Speed test on T-Mobile.

All righty. It does seem like the H815 is the international version.
I'll think about ordering it soon. I've already spent too much this month and I'm running out of money.
