Can't Mount /Cache - Acer Iconia A500

i, being the dumbass i am, tried installing a custom rom and i failed in doing so. it wasn't the first time i installed a rom but now i am stuck at the ACER logo but i still have the ability to get into recovery. i am currently using TWRP touch recovery and when i try installing a different rom or a update.zip made for it, i get E: unable to mount /cache. some help would be nice as i would love to get it working

incompatible recovery.img?
Can't mount cache errors can be caused by an incorrect recovery.fstab file, which basically means the incorrect mount points are used. Had that issue on my phone trying to install CWM recovery, but it was incompatible with my phone giving the same errors you described. You'll probably have to find a good recovery.img, and test if it's working. You can fastboot boot recovery.img without flasing as well.
By the way, to really dig into this problem, it's possible to extract the recovery.fstab file from the recovery.img file you're using, and see if this matches your /proc/emmc.

Please note whenever i go to recovery screen i can see below in yellow letters

I see the same errors when I go into recovery, but I can still launch the fake flash version of recovery. Make sure the update.zip is the correct version.
Recovery is failing to mount your SD card. I'm not sure what the issue is
Did you try USB Unbrick?
year!
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RTEY0Q97
get that adb.zip
then you should get some recovery files. Hmmm, how to upload??
pull recovery files to the "files" folder.
just run:
adb push files /
adb shell busybox --install /sbin
adb shell nohup /sbin/recovery &
you could get into recovery and flash rom again.
try searching on youtube
Put the Clockwork Mod update.zip and your backup or another ROM (as zip file) on your SD Card. Then press Volume down + Power Button. Afterwards select Recovery and wait until you see the red triangle. When you see the red triangle press Volume up + Power and wait until the Recovery screen appears. There you select Apply update.zip and your phone should boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery. From there you can flash a new ROM or restore your NANDROID Backup.
heres another way... go download this http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XBAOCSWZ
and find testimage.zip in it. Put it on your phone's sdcard renaming it to LEGEIMG.zip
off the phone and go to boot loader and start back from unrooted eclair...
the link above is form got it form this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894465
but anyway... since you like e2 recovery so much... you did not do a factory reset... go do that and the loop should go away....
@spiritusrector
THANKS SOO MUCH lol...you just saved me 35 bucks
answer

[Q] Restoring Stock ROM

Hi all,
I am stuck at stock recovery. Can anybody help me to restore stock ROM?
Here is the story:
After I root GTAB manually according to that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859712, I tried to apply the GPS trick explained @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922692
Actually instead of using root explorer to place the files, I tried to replace files in zip file manually(via adb). It looks like something was wrong and device doesn't boot normally anymore. It just reboots to recovery instead. In addition, adb still founds device during recovery but "adb shell" gives an error saying link error. I assume "sh" binary was depending on one of the files I modified.
So, is there an instruction to restore stock ROM on the device.
My current recovery screen says:
Android System Recovery 3e
Samsung Recovery Utils
for BML
- Reboot System
- apply sdcard: update.zip
- wipe data /factory ...
- wipe cache
...
Installing Multi-CSC
All information related to flashing/recovering a device at recovery can be found at
http://www.thegalaxytabforum.com/in...flashing-euro-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-tab/
I also had to use trick mentioned at that thread to get rid of blank screen after first boot:

Thanks everybody!

[HELP!] Failed CM flash & now wont mount /system

EDIT: SOLVED. Sorry, please ignore
I am using TWRP, I factory reset fine.
I then lined up 3 zip files to flash. CM10.1, Gapps and Cerberus
The screen turned off while flashing and I panicked. It wouldnt turn on again. I'm thinking it was because of the screen off delay.
I panicked and pushed all of the buttons several times but couldn't get the screen to turn on again.
Now I've turned off the screen off delay and now I'm trying to re install CM but it keeps getting the following
E: Unable to mount ' /system '
I can still access TWRP recovery and Download.
Is there any way to restore the partitions?
--------------------------------------------------------
Edit from here on:
I was able to recover the partitions by downloading this following PIT file:
http://d-h.st/v7C
I used it with ODIN, I put my phone in download mode and put pushed the PIT file onto my phone, which fixed the partitions. From there I was able to just install CM10.1 like normal

Corrupted partitions?

Hello, I was trying to downgrade from N to MM and somehow i lost my system and data partition. I have the custom revolution recovery and i cant mount data or system on the mount menu, also when i try to flash any package it gives me the error "cant mout /datad/system oartition". I also tried to extract system from a original firmware and tried to flash it with fastboot, but it gives me the error "FAILED (remote: sparse flash write failure)". Is there a way to get back my partitions and reflash MM on here, or have i just won a new (very slim) paperweight? Any help would be much appreciated sice im kinda dependent on this phone.
For some reason system is able to mount now... but still nothing in the data partition , it show 0B
i have the same issue
Have you tried to flash oeminfo?

How to root a S8 G950F Exynos with failed integrity verification without wipe ?

Dear all,
I tried since yesterday to root my S8 Exynos (G950F). My phone is crypted and when I try to root with magisk via TWRP, I have errors to access to datas. When the system boot, I have the error unable to restart your phone. the integrity verification has failed....
Then via TWRP and the shell, I made a copy of the userdata partition on my computer (the crypted partition), then I wiped my phone, I flashed the DM Verify Disabler and then Magisk via TWRP, until then, no problem, I was root but with an empty phone.
There, I uploaded my copy of userdata partition into my S8, I boot the system and always the same error of integrity verification failed...
Now, my phone works always good (I flash the stock ROM via ODIN) but I haven't yet the root.
Is there a way to root the S8 without lost the datas ? A kind of APK or something else ?
Kind regards,
Lau

You need to reflash twrp in odin and boot into recovery (TWRP) before the phone boots the system. Id uncheck auto reset in odin and when its done flashing twrp again boot right into it. From there you want to select to keep the system read only, and then flash the DM Verity Disabler. After thats done flashing, your phone should boot up normally without seeing the integrity failed message. Its important that you boot right into twrp (recovery) after odin flashes it, if not you need to reflash twrp in odin until you successfully get into recovery before it boots your system.
I just tried 2 times this procedure, when I flash the no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1, I have several error messages like Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument) or Unable to recreate /data/media folder or Unable to mount storage and Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps.
When I boot up the phone, I have the same error of integrity failed message and I have to flash a stock system and boot img

You have to wipe data otherwise it won't boot, there's no way round this unfortunately

Previous poster is correct. Wipe>Format data>yes> in twrp then you should be good to go.
