[Q] Quick Question: Nook as Android Tablet - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering, how does the Nook work as an Android 4.1 or (preferably) 4.2 tablet? Good? Bad? I saw the CM10.1 bugs and stuff, just want a quick answer. If anyone can link me to a thread, I did search but didn't find anything really helpful. Thanks.

It is definitely not going to win any speed records, but it performs well.

Awesome, basically what I wanted to know. Thank you!

CM10 is more stable than CM10.1. Fewer bugs and faster.

leapinlar, may I ask quick question?
I have NC with CM7 which mostly is used by my son to play games and watch video.
I tried CM10 about half a year ago and it was slow...
Is it better now? Does it make sense in my situation to switch at all?
Thanks!

Yes, it is faster than it used to be. But CM7.2 is still fine for games and videos.

Alternate cm7 rom preferences

I'm looking for an alternate rom to cm7. Good battery life is a must, followed by overall performance and speed. There are a few to choose from now, looking for peoples opinions and experiences.

Alien #4 is the best. Very stable. And good battery life. It doesn't have OC kernel, EXT4 etc but its stability is unbeatable.
I've experienced widget missing, rebooting, etc issues in other ROMs, but not Alien.

I'm running the current cm7 stable build, tried weekly 2 but had issues with it so switched back. Haven't tried the nightlies yet. Ive have heard aura is good.

Aura is good. My personal fav is The DarkSide by Nottach. It's got some personal tweaks of his and that special black-oriented theme that drive it home for me. Right now, I'm fiddling around with that new 1.4GHz kernel just because I'm that kinda guy, and it requires CM7 so I have the FP reader version on right now (nightlies don't do it for me).
how about a ROM with webtop running?

Has Alien polish language?
Go with 2.2.2 froyo if u really need battery life
Problem with Google apps after installing CM7
We all know that CM7 is the best. I installed it exactly as described, but after I install the package with the Google apps, none of the apps actually show up on my phone.
Any ideas?

What's the most stable rom?

I need to change the rom in my mother's kindle but want it to be stable so she won't have too much problems with it

Hmmm if video does not matter than a ICS ROM...They all seem to be pretty stable.. If she is going to be watching videos then a cyanogenmod 7 ROM... Again all are pretty stable.
CM7 SoS or Barebones I'd say so she can still watch flash vids and what not.
thx for the help
Energy CM9 Kang. I use it. No problems.

cm9(ics) rooms are much more beautiful, and gapps are much cooler than cm7. But in cm7 you have flash and HD video. If you like to be able to have flash in your browser go to cm7.
For stability, both are stable enough. I use kang energy themed.

You can't. It's a limitation in the hardware, firmware, or both. You've gotten the same answer in the other thread. Please stop cross-posting and thread-jacking.
I advise you to try CM9 Reloaded. + latest gapps ICS. I tried some other releases and "Reloaded"- is the only one, which installed correctly on my device and Android Market finally works!! Other installed roms-had connection problems in "market". I also tried to install it manually, correctly following the instructions, but it didn't help((
MoDaCo is very stable.
My wife doesn't notice anything different other than the fact that she can get programs from the google store and can do more things.

Most stable ROM for daily use

Could you suggest which ROM is the best and stable for daily use?
In my opinion, CM7!
Very stable and very good battery life!
Try'it!
Sorry for english!
Atrix - "CM7"
If you are looking for a Stable Rom, Rom try TopSmarts GB 1.0 by ItaloSnt, I'm using the four days and still not ancontrei no bug. And excellent battery life. Super fast and stable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854440
I hope I helped.
Pretty much any Gingerbread rom you install is going to be stable.
The dev's have worked a long time with it and the main difference is features now, not stability
I would say any rom based on cm7. I would recommend topsmarts gb rom also. Been using it for a couple of days and it's noticeably quicker than stock cm7 and has better battery life

Agreed, CM7 hands down. Blur is much slower, and CM9/10 have a lot of issues.
CM10 is my daily ROM right now...

Epinter CM10 09/01/2012 build is solid enough for me. I do not use fingerprint sensor, webtop, car dock thing. I can also solve any issues I might encounter by myself most of the time.
Sorry for bad english!

If you want a blur rom then definetly Nottachtrix
If you want Cm7 then Topsmarts Gb :good:

I must agree with you. For those who do not require camera working 100%, CM10 Epinter and a very good option. Even this and my Rom Backup.

To tell you the truth, my external sd card is only used for Nandroids. I have a backup of all the most recent ROMs. If i know I will need things not available on CM10, I just reboot into TWRP2 recovery and swap ROMs.
CM10 makes your Atrix feel new again.

Most stable rom is CM7. I wouldn't do any of that modded CM7 stuff just regular old CM7 from http://get.cm. CM7 runs great, gets the best benchmarks, run the smoothest, gets the best battery life, and is completely stable. I haven't even had one crash on any app yet and I've been running and installing the latest nightlies for 2 weeks now. I love CM10 but for me I just got tired of the glitches/horrible battery life/overheating/no video camera/stability problems.
Alien ROM version 4
Best ever

How have roms advanced? opengl hardware acel . etc

I got a nook color when they came out and put cm7 on it, but last year I got a n7 and have been using that since. I was curious how roms have come along for the nook color. Well, really the kernel. Last year I remember there were issues with hardware accelerated ui, hardware video playback etc.
Has there been development on that since last year? It's hard to determine if these are still issues in current roms looking at their long threads.
Most OP's will explain any issues. We have official CM 10/.1. All versions of Paranoid Android. Some CM7 variants. We're just missing MIUI, and PAC. Also HWA works just fine now.

Don't forget that 720p video now works, it didn't before on the cm7 rom.
All that we need now is usb host mode working.

Is the 720p up and working for cm 7.2 by any chance? I just installed the Mirage version of cm 7.2 but I'm away from my tablet and haven't checked it yet. It's been collecting dust for a couple years now, but if the hardware acceleration is there that would really help it get more use in my house.
If you want something new, try Chameleon OS 4.2.2

Anyway to make the scrolling smooth?

I've had my Nexus 10 for 6 months and I love the crispy display and fast over all system, the only thing that intrigues me is the scrolling. I believe all sorts of browsing there's a delay when swiping from a page to another. Especially on the app drawer and Facebook app. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
Hello there!
If you look in to loading a custom kernel such as Ktmanta (which I recommend and use personally) I believe you will find the smooth scrolling you are looking for.

Will it work on the latest nightlies of either pacman rom or PA rom? Thanks bro
It will work on anything

Cleanrom for a rock solid experience and fluid system. If you want features you can try aokp by mr robinson, or team eos for a basic rooted rom but still kept pretty slim and smooth.
