[Q] The bottom of touch screen doesnt work! - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys, I discovered at first I was thinking its was a software problem because the Back, home, and APP buttom it wasnt working, so I reflashed, and still not working, so after testing more and more, I discovered that the problem was in the touchscreen.
NOT working on the bottom, I enabled the developer mode and turned on pointer option and location of the pointer, and showed me that was the problem.
The Q is if I change the LCD + Touchscreen digitizer I will work again ??

It should work. But it's gonna cost ya. Might as well get a replacement from Google.

Yes. I've seen them for 90$ online.
Send it back to Google. I would.

Did I break it? Touch Screen issues.

So I had to replace my ear speaker on my atrix. That went well but when I put it back together I lost the ability to hit the 2,w,s,x&z keys on the keyboard when the phone is held upright.
I've taken it apparent and put it back together again to no avail
Any suggestions on what to try to fix it?
It does sound like it is hardware related. I assume that this patch of screen doesn't function at all on other apps (not the keyboard)? Try a touch test app on the market and see if it recognizes the touch on the broken bit of the screen
Thats the odd thing, with the mutlitouch tester app you can click and then drag over to that area and there is a line where it won't cross but you can get close.
I must have bumped or scratched something internally, the screen itself is fine.
sounds like the fragile digitizer ribbon had been riped

Yeah if that is the case, i'm afraid that it broken and you'll need a new digitizer, sorry
Had SAME exact issue. And when I had it in lanscape mode it the backspace button didnt work either. I got it replaced yesterday under warranty

I went in and they did the same for me WOOT!
They noticed that it was rooted and said 6 days ago they would have told me I was SOL but they got an email from somebody at AT&T that said root didn't matter I guess.
I did have another rom on my phone which they didn't say anything about?

[Q] Top half of screen is unresponsive. Is it possible to fix?

So I cracked the top corner of my screen and now the top half doesn't respond to touch. I was wondering if it would be possible to fix this without purchasing a new screen. I'm not too sure how digitizers work, but I was guessing since the bottom half works fine, maybe a connection came loose and I can fix it without purchasing any parts. Does anyone have experience with this?

I`am afraid you have to have the screen replaced. Can`t fix this any other way. The digitizer is part of the screen and will be replaced as well. Had that once with a S3. It will cost you about 200-250 euro`s.
Your only option is to get a screen replacement or send it LG to do it for you. I had to replace my screen a couple of months ago. I did it myself. Really easy to do, its just expensive. I paid close to $200 for my screen replacement.

Was about to start a new thread when I found this one. Here is what my first post would have been (seems to be software rather than hardware issue):
When I try to pull down my notification bar, I can't. My phone recognizes my touch, but only as it would be just below the notification bar. When I add a second finger, it works perfectly. The same goes for the bottom of my screen. These "half-dead" zones move with the hardware when I turn the screen, not the UI. A restart made it work for about 5 seconds.
Any ideas? Could be a service/app that starts and blocks something, but haven't installed anything in a while now. Also have been going on this ROM for about 1 week now without any problems.
About my phone:
Nexus 4
4.2.2
ParanoidAndroid 3.60
Attachements
1. Here I have my finger on the very top of the screen, but it only recognizes my x-coordinates properly
2. Dito, but in the bottom
3. One finger in the middle, then trying to pull downwards with other fingers and it recognizes it all, both using two and three fingers in total.

[Q] Middle horizontal line of the screen no touch

Hi guys,
Last days my Nexus 4 start to have a problem:
the imaginary middle horizontal line of my touch doesn't work fine.....it's just a line!
It makes difficult to scroll o to posh down the notification bar, to tap or click and so on!
I'm not sure it's physically damaged!
I've installed CM 10.2 20131026.
I saw someone else have this kind of problem, but everyone is a noob! (About like me)
Just for info, I've tried to use the developer setting to "view the taps".... it confirmed the problem!
Thanks in advance guys!
Matteo
Nexus 4 on the roll!!!!
restore to stock and check if its still there, generally you use the phone for a few days to check if its alright before you flash
No solutions guys, now I've two horizontal not working lines!!!!! Digitizer broken maybe.....
Nexus 4 on the roll!!!!
Seems to be the same problem that I got. I also opened a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660476
And I did a bit of research and it seems to be a known hardware issue. I will return it with warranty I guess.
Edit: Take a look at my screens I did in the thread. Or try it on your own with any screen tester app.
I just had this happen to me. I just get the nexus 4 from t-mobile last week. And know the touch screen is no working in the middle of the screen. I got a replacement coming. But I was play with its some time work normal if I had it plug in for 30min or more..
I just like to know how common is this issue. I hope it not that common. because I just paid 30 for the phone the first time and now I paid 20 for the replacement. They gave me the option to get a different phone. I hope its just a uncommon thing. they did made over 500,000 phone.
its just a bad digitizer.
(its specific to some areas due to lg´s zero gap techonology)

Phone went nuts! Only long-pressing touches on my G2!

For a few weeks my G2 was showing some very weird touchscreen issues, like ghost touches and dead spots where touching wouldn't do any good. Although the former problem seems to have been gone, the latter looks kinda permanent. But yesterday another problem showed up: my cellphone will only recognize touches if I long-press the screen for like three seconds. Eventually if I'm typing some password the touchscreen will work as well as ever but only for a short time, then I'll have to press the screen for three seconds for every touch I want to be registered by the device. Anyone has had this before or heard about this? Is there a fix? I looked at lots of threads before and none of them seemed to sympathize with my issues.
It looks hardware failure. My advise would be try and go into service menu and then settings and update touch firmware. You never know it might work

That was my first bet. It didn't help much.
I had the same problem and it comes back with random conditions. I had the digitizer replaced (not the complete LCD panel) which had my problem fixed for almost six seven months until the problem showed up again but the dead zone moved Much lower than before. I have not gone for LCD replacement because i don't know if it will fix my problem. There are numerous threads here. Go try them Maybe they will work out for you.

info for replacing Redmi note 2 digitalizer

hello guys, last week my phone suddenly started to behave wierdly. After some time i came to know that all the navigation button started to work automatically.I could'nt do anything.I tried disabling it in settings. Since on double tapping any buttion will enable it again,it automatically got enabled.so ,i enabled onscreen keys and disabled the hardware navigation buttons in the system/usr/keylayout/generic.kl(i think so).so i can use my phone now.But the touch is also not working most times. My friends suggested me that replacing the digitalizer would help. But while searching online ,i see that few sellers posted that only digitalizer but few are selling the touch+lcd(both touch and lcd are attached, can't be seperated). If touch+lcd is available, then how can they sell the digitalizer alone?.so i want to know that whether the redmi note 2 has digitalizer alone or it comes with lcd attached?
..if there is any digitaziler in the market, shareg those links will be really helpful for me,...
The digitiser is with the LCD. Usually trust titles that say "Digitiser+LCD" that would be safer. You can try AliExpress. keep in mind that the original screen is "Glued" to the body, and requires you to FORCE it out when replacing. Dont put ur eyes too near the screen as it WILL crack as u FORCE it out. Currently I have replaced my screen, but have yet to Glue it back properly.

There might be some selling "LCD+Digitized mounted on frame", that's a good one except the need to shift over some other components (Vibration motor, power+volume rockers, earpiece speaker)... don't expect "original parts" to be original parts
