fine, nice idea mods
by the way i read some where that most of the existing powervr 5 series gpus have the hardware for opengl es 3.0 support , its just a matter of time before they get it via a driver update.

The second part is some news about a subset of OpenGL ES 3.0 features that will be enabled retroactively on all PowerVR Series5XT hardware. The entire lineup apparently has the hardware to enable these OpenGL ES 3.0 features as an optional extension inside OpenGL ES 2.0.

great

All of em with 2gb ram will be tons better. No comparison. Back to true multitasking and no iPhone clone crap reloading all apps.

I still can't believe that all flagship phones will be running FHD in 2013. I wonder how much battery can be saved using a HD display instead of a FHD display, rest all factors being equal?
I have a feeling that the benefits of going to FHD are merely from marketing perspective at this time. More resources used for GPU and display. "Diminishing marginal utility" applies here?
I just didn't expect it so soon. As long as battery life remains great, give me a 4K screen. I will never complain.

Not very impressive?Compared against what?Alienware laptops? My S3 is overclocked to 1.7GHz on the CPU side and 600MHz on the GPU side and still gets "only" up to around 18500 in Antutu.Even the Snapdragon 600 hovers around the 22500 mark. What did you expect?I'd like it better too,but hold on
Anyway, using a PowerVR GPU gets me excited. No more half-arsed ported games and hopefully better performance than the Mali ones. The MP-400 was lovely on the S2 but it's too 2011 and ARM's T-6xx series has yet to prove it's worth something, while PowerVRs are tried and true(Although I have to admit I'll miss the MP-400's monstrous fill rate and I'll hate depending too much on resolution again).I only hope that the Exynos Octa indeed performs considerably better than the Snapdragon 600.Not because the 600 isn't good, but if they are so close in performance, the S800 will obliterate everything and even the Tegra 4 will best the Exynos.I can stand having a less powerful SoC than Qualcomm's(After all the S4 pro blew the Exynos 4412 last year) but not NVidia.I just hate these guys and they deserved being at the bottom of the performance charts.
Anyway, sure thing is that by summer 2013 the S3 will look mid-end and the S2 will look like a toy.I can't wait to get the S4 and get it to run at 2GHz.Yes,I'm crazy.

I wonder how Samsung or any other OEM can make something inpressive at all. I had a Xperia Z for the weekend and my S3 doen't feel at all too old.
FHD is nice because it is the industry standard (PC Monitors, TVs ,..) but from my normal reading distance I don't see a difference worth spending money for.
Current high end 3D games run on both phones fine, but they do so on a S2 also....
If Samsung would have put 2GB into the I9300, I guess I skipped the upgrade this year.

Looks like SGS4 won't have premium materials, but plastic again:

HTC One: aluminium
Xperia Z: glass
Nexus 4: glass
iPhone 5: aluminium
So SGS4 will be the only flagship made with plastic?

Dont know if its true.. but that no5 surprising... I dont mind plastic at all..its light, makes it removable, and dissipates heat better.. no fuss about loosing paint like in alluminium and smudges like in glass ( the nexus n4 s4 chip is said to tgrottle at stock to save the glass).. performance and funtion above looks always..
I only wish they bring out a better design and look or I might get something else..

What's the problem with polymer casing? I think it's a good marketing decision.
First of all, I'm not planing to keep the phone for 20 years.
Second, it makes the phone lighter.
Third, makes the phone cheaper.
Fourth, I prefer to pay for better techology then fancy casing.
Fifth, they all need case protector anyway.

Actually I believe the first phone wich got those features is the S3 on the leaked 4.2.1 rom. The only thing is even if they are activated, they don't work. I believe they need fixing and the rom was a test one or something. So yeah, it's not gonna be something S4 exclusive, we are going to recieve those too . Till now, all Galaxy S series demonstrated that they are BEASTS and very difficult to let behind, they all get features official or non-official.
Look back at the support the S1 recieves and you'll be amazed

Samsung Galaxy S2 Specs (2GHz, 1GB RAM, etc.)

Source: http://www.redmondpie.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-specs-will-blow-your-brains-out/
The current generation of smartphones – with their 1GHz processors and 512MB of RAM – are already very impressive at what they can do. But rumored specifications (along with a photo) are spreading of the next generation of Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone – the Galaxy S2 – and its specs will. freaking. blow. your. head. off.

It is supposedly scheduled for release sometime in early 2011 and will supposedly have the following specifications:
-A 2GHz Processor. Possibly the next-generation version of Samsung’s Hummingbird CPU.
-1GB RAM along with 4GB of ROM. This is, as with the CPU, twice the magnitude of current-gen hardware.
-32GB built-in flash memory. MicroSD card slot expandable to 32GB making the Galaxy S2 able to hold 64GB of data.
-8 megapixel camera with full HD (1920×1080) video recording. Current-gen smartphones record video at 720p (1280×720).
-A 4.3” 1280×720 Super AMOLED display
-GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, b/g/n Wi-Fi, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity / ambient light sensors.
-Run on Android 3.0 “Gingerbread”
While all these specifications are well and sweet, I really, honestly believe smartphone manufacturers, especially of the Android variety, should focus on increasing battery life by optimizing hardware + software instead of just blindly increasing clock speeds and doubling RAM. My HTC Desire still doesn’t last more than 15-16 hours whereas Taimur’s iPhone 4 blows past the 24 hour category without even going below 50%.
And yes, these specs are rumored. But if HTC and Motorola’s intentions of releasing 2GHz smartphones are anything to go by, they aren’t unbelievable.

they do love dangling the proverbial carrot in front of us don't they?
seriously though, why would you ever need dual core phones? I understand it's the next logical step, but I don't plan on bit torrenting HD porn from my phone. The original Galaxy still seems plenty new and amazing enough for me to not care about another phone for at least a year.

You can't never have too much speed on a phone. Flash contents need quite a bit of CPU and GPU power, emulators will benefit from this, Browsing Speed, Multitasking, etc.
It can't hurt to have the phone boot up faster either.
OMG this again....dud research its beeen posted few down from you......
its fake this rumor started July 5 and people are just blogging...ect of late for attention or they have been living under a rock last few months
Also you would think with these guys bringing up such an old rumor/news they would have something else to go on other than repeating what already been said almost 4 months prior.
You guys really think specs for a new galaxy S would "leak" just few weeks after its predecessor's release...just my opinion
I'd have to agree with the quote in the op though. Instead of doubling the specs, phone manufacturers should work on increasing battery life. The iphone doesn't have ridiculous specs but still manages to do nearly everything android phones do and do it smoother while still lasting a full day.
I don't really need my phone to do much more than it currently does. It matches the iphone in 3d smoothness which is great.. Now I just need it to open and close apps smoother and last a full day. The g2 does it with less ghz, so it should be possible with the vibrants current 1ghz processor.

G2 does it with less mhz/ghz is because it is on a 45 nm fabrication vs. vibrant's 65 nm fabrication. The smaller the more efficient.

CPU probably handles 800mhz at a really low voltages and found it to be the sweet spot that also conserves battery life
And to answer why its faster well maybe its designed better, such as better cache and maybe some type of "hyper threading" technique....that would explain the extra pipelines on the scorpion ...raw speed isn't always everything
BTW this is all just a guess so dont hold me to this..i know PC's not so much this

Just as we lay to rest the ghost of a phantom Tegra 2 chip inside the LG Revolution, here comes the specter of another unconfirmed appearance for NVIDIA's dual-core application processor, this time inside Samsung's Galaxy S II. If you'll recall, we were initially informed by Samsung's PR crew that their new Android flagship would run on NVIDIA's hardware, however a subsequent correction informed us that the processor inside would in fact be Samsung's own Exynos. Now, it turns out, both might be true. AnandTech have come across some benchmark results showing a GT-i9103 with Tegra 2 listed as its grunt provider, while Pocket-lint and others have noted that Samsung's own spec sheet for the Galaxy S II states that the dual-core Exynos "may not be applicable in some regions." The likeliest scenario here is that Samsung hasn't yet reached sufficient volumes with its own processor production and will rely on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 for handsets outside its critical markets -- much in the same vein as it replaced Super AMOLED with Super Clear LCD screens in Russia and some other territories. Don't fret too much, though, performance disparities between the two aren't likely to be overly significant.

Anandtech did some benchmark testing in Barcelona.
http://www.anandtech.com/Show/Index...i-preliminary-performance-mali400-benchmarked
But the SW used at that conference (and maybe the HW since the phone gets very hot according to Anandtech) is probably not finished.
And benchmarks can be unreliable.
Unoptimised drivers is what it falls down to. Tegra has been around for longer, so it most likely has been optimised better.
Just need to wait and see.
Yeah, and samsung is well known for developping great drivers and software, which is updated regularly, just like the SGS had great performances out of the box thanx to the clever use of RFS
I do agree that it's to soon to know exactly how it will perform, but I wouldn't count too much on samsung improving performances :-/

That actually depends. There is a get it now button on games that have been released. The preview games don't have that. Also some games aren't available in all regions. An example on which it worked was dungeon defenders.
First I was like yay because Tegra 2 is awesome, but then I began thinking and yeah this is going to be a damn mess.
We could get the forum split up in GT-I9100 (Exynos version) and GT-I9103 (Tegra 2 version) and the damage could decrease, but it will still split up the Galaxy S II community on here and it depends what version the ROM makers are going to buy, unless there is no difference between the GT-I9100 and the GT-I9103 except for that it has a different SoC I don't see the big problem
I wonder whether the shortage of Exynos chips could be due to Apple's A5. At this point nobody knows what the A5 is, however the A4 was Sammy's Hummingbird so the A5 could just be the Exynos...
Guess we'll find out on the 11th.

Samsung Galaxy S2 HD is a super-powered S2
By Luke Westaway on 26 September 2011, 5:11pm
Samsung will soon launch a new version of its brilliant Galaxy S2 Android phone. The Samsung Galaxy S2 HD will pack a 4.7-inch display and a 1.5GHz processor.
The bad news? At the moment, this souped-up smart phone is only coming to Samsung's native land of South Korea.
The S2 HD was announced alongside another new version of the S2 that has a 1.5GHz processor and 4.5-inch screen, with both phones packing LTE tech that makes them 4G-compatible.
We don't get 4G in the UK, just rubbish old 3G, so these particular versions won't be coming to our green and pleasant land. Normally, we don't report on phones that won't come to the UK, but we're making an exception in this case, because we reckon Samsung could well bring a 3G version of the S2 HD over here in the future.
We certainly wouldn't complain, because this monolithic mobile has a display with a resolution of 1,280x720 pixels, which makes it a high-definition mobile. That beats the iPhone 4's 960x640-pixel screen. With an 'HD Super AMOLED' display, we suspect the S2 HD will look blindingly good.
The S2 HD is 9.5mm thick, which is about a millimetre thicker than the Galaxy S2. It also packs a 1,850mAh battery, which is bigger than the S2's 1,650mAh offering.
In short then, the Galaxy S2 HD is like the Galaxy S2 but bigger and faster. We're not sure we can handle mobile telephony that potent this early in the week, but, Samsung, if you're reading, we desperately want to see this mobile hitting the UK.
The existing S2 is proving a fair old success meanwhile, having recently passed the 10 million sales milestone.
Do you want to see the Galaxy S2 HD breaking free and heading to the UK? Then say as much in the comments section below, or on our Facebook wall, and maybe Samsung will take notice.

As much as I like the specs of the souped up SG2 with 1.5ghz with HD display, the 4.7 inch screen is just too big for my tastes. Not sure about other people but the MAXIMUM I would take for a PHONE would probably be 4.5 inches.
Be nice to have it over here as well due to the HD screen but if i can be honest i rather wait for the S3 when that comes out...My phone is powerful enough as it is and if i want to push the cpu i can...So for someone who has not got the S2 this is good upgrade but for me i wait for the next big thing to be honest...
If only they could squeeze this resolution on a 4 - 4.3 inch display....
Apple did it, im sure samsung can do that aswell.
bye portability

Record a concert with your phone? Yes, that was the primary goal of Samsung. Hey, there are ****loads of people who go to concerts not to enjoy the music, but to create low quality blurry pictures and videos waving their phones in the air. Damn you Samsung, you've failed.
Anyways, 4.7 is WAY to big for a phone. I'm not sure it can be called a phone anymore. I'd prefer 4" sharp personally. 4.3" is a bit too big for me.

Guess we will have to buy pants with bigger pockets ...
though now I do wonder why they decide to replace exynos with qualcomm 8060, since according to this webpage, the gpu in both LTE and LTE HD is adreno 220...

hahaha, can't wait
They didn't mentioned anything like SGS3. Don't be surprised if it is named something like "The New Galaxy" lol.
Please don't make it 4.65" screen. Its too big!!!

who's getting on the train
I would like to see 4,3 inch screen.. ;p
Galaxy S z Tapatalk
A Resolution with 1280x720 with 4" is not necessary or? So i think it would be a 4,5" or above smartphone, it looks very funny at the ear . A 4" screen with the display of the sgs2 would be nice.

wouldn't mind a 5.3" but that's reserved for the note
Hmmm they say "come meet the new galaxy" is this the sgsIII or the new nexus either or I can't wait to get my hands on one... 4.6" is a lil excessive but as we can tell by the note here comes the year of the phablet.. even so I say bring it on!!!!

I hope Samsung will release also some info about support of Android versions for this model.
Many people are mad with them for SGS(+) and Ice Cream Sandwich
I don't really care what size the screen is or how many gigaflops it's millions of cores can produce, just don't make it look like crap or make it out of something that creaks if you even glance at it.
Truth is that I will not replace my i9000 to S3 until S3 will be made differently I mean like steel all around (including screen frame) with carbon fiber battery cover, if it is going to be better - it should be better in every single way not just specs. I use my i9000 like an egg and it already have scratches on frame close to usb input and back cover because of my nail. No scratches on screen but i have tiny little dot on glass i do not know how it got there. Samsung was going with galaxy series very well - time to make a quad core tank with lifetime usage possibilities.

and what i want is to charge it up while using HDMI or OTG with USB-hub or dock station, with NTFS 64GB microsd for files bigger than 4GB

So your main criterion for choosing a phone is how it looks?
I've been waiting for this... Will it be the one for real?
surely will have great spec, but just wondering if it's worth its size??? not sure if will replace my SGS (one) or simply buy a tablet to meet my need for internet browsing while on the move... and hope the battery will last for 24hrs of normal usage (two emails/calendars sync on, various apps, internet etc) without looking for power outlet mid-day. My SGS hardly last for one day on one charging...
You could fit a 4.6" screen on a phone around the size of the i9000 if you ditched hard keys and had the screen almost edge-to-edge. I won't buy a phone you need to wear on your belt.e
What's the story with new phones coming in at 4.6"+ displays?
I would think the original galaxy S at 4'' was superb fit for pocket and portability. Increase that to 320ppi with a superamoled HD display and voila we have new SGSIII.
I can't see why they going for such big displays. I even have the 4.3"" HD2 and that's the max I would see for a phone.
There will be disappointment and exhilaration with this release. Either way I am buying this regardless....
EDIT: I am hoping for Wolfson DAC in the audio output. It must have this dac..
See you all in the SGS3 forums on XDA

Not at all, we all know this thing is going to be a beast of a phone, so I have no worries about it's performance, but I want something that doesn't look like it was designed by an art student trying to be "edgy"
But it is getting to the point now where they will all be more powerful than any of us realistically need for the near future, so the look (OLED vs TFT is becoming more of a non-issue) is the only real thing that's going to differentiate them. I don't like the HTC aesthetic, it's just boring to me, Sony have gone all bling again and others like Motorola just seem to design their phones for corporate boardrooms.
Samsung just seem stuck trying to refine the "not iPhone" shape of the SGS 1 in Europe, and it's getting a little boring, time for something new. And it will probably save them a few quid if Apple can't keep suing them because of a physical home button.

i have seen samsung galaxy s3 in youtube video but the phone doesn't look silm as it was first caught on the first image leak
Guys, afaik this isnt the galaxy s3, I think its the samsung galaxy m. I dont think samsung would bring out a updated galaxy s2 with 2 additional cores and a higher resolution display and name it galaxy s 3.
Nope guys, Mali 400 is nowadays not really modern. If this would be the galaxy s 3 I wouldnt buy this But its the galaxy M and its ok But I'm waiting for galaxy s3, so hopefully there will be some nice specs.
it was sgs3 ... in 16th December 2011
a ****load changed since not to mention the dummy case
and yes baattery was from M
https://twitter.com/#!/BoskiByczyByk/status/193418391107801089
In my opinion, it's definitly the Galaxy M.
I'm pretty sure that the new Galaxy S III is the GT-I9500.
Whatever it is, its ugly as hell.
Sure hope this really isn't the s3.
Hoping for something kind of like the gnexus with all the bells and whistles the gn is missing (more mpx, sd card, removable battery, none pentile samoled, etc)
Anyway, i was happier to see the blaze coming out. Proper updated phone within the 4'' range instead this latest trend of huge slabs of plastic, even if it isn't winning any beauty contest...

Looks pretty ****, not like a flagship phone. I don't think this is the SGS3 at all.

it's a 100% fake...
wow i'll buy it when come in italy!!!
Lots and lots of fake leaks been around s3 a long time now.. i think i just wait for official release notes and when its released i read what it got and probably buy it
I mean the thing is that new phones got quite a lot of power to do anything but the real question is how is battery life and how big screen you like.
So far the galaxy S been faithful phone with oc and very damn nice roms so i could get more from it than i imagined. As long as s3 got great battery life and all other things way better than other phones i really am going to buy it

If this is the real deal (or a rendering of it), I just wish it had buttons that are in a dedicated area below the main part of the screen like the HTC One X.
