Please forgive me for bad english and opened topic to here.
Thanks for everything

A custom ROM is basically a modified version of the AOSP version. Custom ROMs are mostly built and developed by enthusiasts. They add new features e.g. customisation or functionality. They also provide bug fixes.
On non-Nexus devices they bring the newest Android version to devices that are not officially supported by the manufacturers. This doesn't play a role foot you, because Nexus devices get the updates immediately after their announcement.
You can install whatever custom ROM you want as long as it is made fit the Nexus 4. You may brick your phone otherwise.
Just look for a guide for rooting and install a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM.

I've only flashed CM10 and paranoid android, CM10 is just so good i don't really see any reason to flash anything else. It's also pretty much stock as far as ui so not hard to get used to.

Which ROM to run on Nexus 4

I got my Nexus 4 yesterday and I've been using an S3 for a month or so running CM 10.1
Should I flash CM 10.1 on my Nexus 4, or will there be a new version that will soon be released pertaining to 4.2.2?
How stable is CM on the Nexus 4? I had a few issues with it on the S3. Will it be as reliable as stock?

The CM ROM for the N4 is stable, I've been using it for a while and haven't had any problems.
I think the latest nightly has the 4.2.2 updates in it already.
Which ROM to use is kind of personal though and depends on what you want, take a look at the ROMs in the threads and you will see quite a few choices, and then there are even a lot of different kernels too so there are plenty of choices.
Rasbean Jelly or Xenon HD. Both are stable as can be.

I personally love SlimBean. Right now I'm using my Slim-Star ROM (PM me for details and download link) which is based off of SlimBean.

In these kind of threads a lot of ROMs always are mentioned. I think you can better take a look around the forum and decide for yourself.

I found the best ROM for me by installing the popular ones for a few days each then picking the one I liked the most.
I'm using PA 3+ (ParanoidAndroid), It's CM 10 based, this rom has Hybrid UI (Table UI, Stock UI, etc) and have a lot of colors improvements and the best feature is the PIE control that is really awesome.
You can check PA 3+ here and you can check the development forum for all the other roms available.
Good Luck! =)
I'll probably just go with CM since its what I'm used to. Don't have time right now to try a bunch of different things.
My phone currently isn't rooted. Can someone link a good guide on how to root and install CM?
No

If you want to do the process yourself here is the guide, if not here is a toolkit.
And here is CM 10.1 with instructions.
Good Luck and Enjoy! =)
Cm10.1 4.2.2 no doubt

I don't like CM10. I find stock smooth, and I think when RasbeanJelly is updated to 4.2.2 base, you should use that.

[Q] Stable ROM for mako

Hello everyone,
I'm getting an N4 next week and I was wandering how stable AOKP's milestone 1 or CM RC2 are given that nither have a proper stable out yet.
Let me give some context. I use to be big on flashing, the phone I have now has run every any anying I have been able to find but to be honest I'm sort fo bored of it. At this point I'm just looking for somethig I can flash and wait for the OTA update for the next point or big number realse and Yes I know that both roms mention above are not "stable" but they will be soon I hope. I can put up with annoynces for some time while the stable comes out so I can move up to it. Also I'm open for sugestion if there anything more solid then AKOP or CM(if that is even plosible) by all means shear
They're both pretty stable. All features are fully working. Both roms have been on the Nexus 4 scene since day one so the developers have worked hard to eliminate any bugs. Just flash one and try it out yourself.

CyanogenMod RC2, being a release candidate, is very stable and bug free (from my experience).
Sent from my CM10.1 Nexus 4
that is awsome news that there really stable. I'm confuse, why then are they not mark as stable? Can they be using debian definiton of stable?

Probably the developer doesn't think it's ready. Either way, it seems stable enough for daily use.
It sounds like I'm contradicting myself. LOL
Mmuzzy ROM. 100% stable with just a few very necessary customizations.

sound good. I will asum that as soon as they think is go for stable then there will be an OTAU for it

Before you flash anything. PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP NANDROID FILE IN RECOVERY MODE JUST IN CASE THE PHONE DOESN'T BOOT.
I assume you know how to do a backup. LOL

I've used cm10.1 and switched to Xylon when I had the desire for more customization. Ever since JellyBeer started however it's been my main ROM and I absolutely love the functionality and stability it has to offer. I am intrigued by PA's Halo though.

[Q] What's the difference between JSS15x and JWR66x? [Answered!]

I recently got a Nexus 4 and rooted and installed Carbon and everything is great.. except I think I'm still using a stock kernel (no clue). I found a few that I liked however they all mention things like "only for JSS15J or JWR66Y" etc... Mine says "JSS15Q"... My question is: what is with the different versions? and does that mean I'm using a Nexus 7 firmware!?!?!
your help is appreciated!

JSS is for Nexus 7 2013 tablets and JWR for phones and 2012 tablets originaly i think.
Ah thanks man. I'm curious now as to why some of the ROMs in the development section use JSS firmware instead.
Here is some insights about 4.3 versions issues:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44052881&postcount=1
Basically a JSS rom is a rom built from AOSP sources, and a JWR rom is based on the stock 4.3 firmware built for the Nexus 4.
Kernels can not be interchanged, doing that will cause screen tearing, becuase AOSP has some never gpu driver commits for the Nexus 4.
Guys, thank you so much for this enlightenment.. what would we do with out this community.
Long live Android developers!

Yeah, this guide will work on 4.3 cm10.2 and any 4.0+ rom( only difference is the priv-app folder). The reason of your issue may be because the device your porting from. I here alot of people port gs3 roms using the nexus 4. Try using the nexus 4.
And remember to use stable roms. Roms that are like in alpha stage my not be able to port saying some apps, permission, etc still relies on unneeded libs.
thank you.I will be try.You are maked a very good work. Thanks again.

[Q] Cannot Flash Paranoid Android 4.4 on my HTC One my [New User]

According to XDA I am a noob and cannot post this in the comments of PA 4.4 M7 only because I haven't commented 10 times. I am, however, not a noob with rooting and have been rooted for about half a year. I wouldn't consider myself advanced, but you can use some technical talk.
I have used Paranoid Android before and I thought it was an awesome ROM. I switched to Insertcoin SixthSense when it came out for a change in looks. I just recently got bored of Sense and wanted to go back to stock. I used OmniRom for a few days and I now want to go back to Paranoid Android. When I try to flash it, it says E: Error executing updater binary in zip 'filepath of rom'. I am using the latest OmniRom 4.4.3 and my experience tells me that downgrading Android versions usually doesn't work. Am I stuck until PA upgrades to 4.4.3 or am I just doing something wrong.
Also, sorry for posting here, I haven't commented 10 times yet so I cannot post it in development where I would want to.
Phone - HTC One M7 ATT
ROM - Omni
Android Version - 4.4.3
Kernel - Stock
Recovery - TWRP 2.6.3.3
Current build of paranoid android is android version 4.4.4
