Get the images from here, without Ubuntu. - Ubuntu Touch General

Hi, I was looking for Ubuntu for my nexus, so I started googleing.
Found it:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch-preview/quantal/mwc-demo/
Download everything that has your phone inside it's name.
It will be a 1 .zip, and 3 img files.
See here:
ubuntu_image = 'quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip'
device_file = 'quantal-preinstalled-armel+%s.zip'
device_file_img = 'quantal-preinstalled-system-armel+%s.img'
boot_file_img = 'quantal-preinstalled-boot-armel+%s.img'
recovery_file_img = 'quantal-preinstalled-recovery-armel+%s.img'
(%s is your phone or Tablet)
Btw I found them here:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/phablet-tools/trunk/files/head:/phabletutils/
You may need some more actions than just fastboot flash.
Then again it might aswell just work.
Trying now.
/Edit: Seems like system is the system image,
boot.. obviously boot image.
recovery should probably not be flashed to be able to switch back to android smoothly (?)
What is strange though is that quantal-preinstalled*.zip seems pretty featured aswell. Maybe it's enough to flash this(?) Don't try if you don't want to brick your phone, though...

Confused.

Am I bricked, for ever....

Hello,
tonite I spended my time trying to install a custom ROM on my new TF300T.
I unlocked the bootloader.
Rooted
Install Teamwin.
I did a total backup of my tablet, using Teamwin.
Then I tried to install Euroshank rom, that I have on my Galaxy Nexus phone.
Then everything went wrong, I felt in a loop...
I tried, lotsa thing, and finally, like an idiot I format my ROM.
Now when I open in normal way, I get nothing.
And when I boot in recovery I get a Teamwin that works very slow.
I knew it was possible that it would arrive one day...
BRICKED....
Am I bricked?
My wife told me it would happen...
Is there a way to fastboot a firmware...
Fastboot does not see my tablet...
Alain

Why will you try install a room not design for tf300t?

I used to be active in the Samsung Vibrant section and people will just flash anything, ANYTHING!!! wont read the first post to find out
what they are about to flash, EVEN if the first post said "100% brick guaranteed" people will flash it and complain they got bricked.
SIGH......
OP you are lucky the device will still turn on, sounds like you are soft bricked and my be able to recover it,
I don't know what Teamwin or euroshank is so I cant help with recovery, but if the device will turn on there is
hope to recover it.

I believe you are not bricked
you just messed up a little bit
to flash with fastboot check out this post it is a guide to flash the the stock rom for a tf300g but it works fine for the tf300t
I have used this method a couple of times
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757077
just make sure you use the correct firmware for your device <--- this is very important
read through the sticky posts in the developement section, there you can find where to get the correct firmware for your device
also never flash a rom that was not made for your device, your asking for trouble
hope this helps
good luck
If you were to wipe everything in team win then restore your back up.......what happens?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
It it important to not flash the wrong firmware because the kernel for each make and model of device
is a bit different and has all the drivers for the hardware for that device and may not have the drivers for
another device built in, so if you flash the wrong kernel you can lose the use of some or all of your hardware.
especially the proprietary stuff.
The saga continue
I had an idea,
what if I try to put a rom on a memory card an put it in the memory slot.
IT WORKED!...
I went back to Teamwin an tried to install using external SD-Card, I choose cm-9-20120802-NIGHTLY-tf300t, and it seemed to install.
When I boot, I see the Cyanogen opening screen, then I get the following screen:
Encryption unsuccessfull
Encryption was interupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your table is no longer accessible....
And there'a reset tablet button.
But when I select the Reset tablet button, the tablet reboots ans come back to the same screen.
Then I used Teamwin to fix permissions. The software told me that it would takes few minutes, when if fact took less then 10 seconds..
After I thinked of doing a factory reset Teamwin, but change nothing still have the same boot message...
I believe that on my way to solve this problem...
I'm crazy to fix it, as I have my wife's looking over my shoulder....
Thanks for helping all...
I feel less studip now...
And no, I didn't tried to install a rom for another system...
Alain
try the same with the stockrom, maybe this works.
If not try to get adb running.
Dl this tool:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/7XYW-4c4/WSG_UnBricker_TF300T_V102.html
Extract it.
Put your pad into recovery
Than connect it to your pc
run the WSGFlasher from the folder of the file you just dl.
choose option 5 for adbshell
tipe in this command:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 bs=100 count=1
if this runs type this 2nd command:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1
Reboot your pad and see if everything runs fine
if not, just go back to recovery
open the WSGflasher again
choose option 2
than use option 1
for fully unbrick
let it run and see if this worked
if this doesnt work try get it in fastboot
dl this file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/npKPgYok/WSG_UnBricker_Skript_no_Fw.html
extract it to C.\trecovery\
DL the latest Asus firmware and extract it 2 times.
Put the blob file into the trecovery folder
Press Vol- and Power at the same time to start the tablet
At the time the text appears on screen let both Buttons loose
Wait till the 3 icon appear
choose the usb icon with Vol-
Than press Vol+
connect your Pad to PC
run cmd
type
cd c:\trecovery\ and hit enter
then type:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob
see if it runs
sometimes you will need many tries to get it succesfully running, just try again
Need 20 times one time my pad was softbricked.
try to flash Clockwork recovery (the correct one for tf300t) with teamwin.
then format all partitions except your sdcard
then flash cm9
should work if you got this far
then if it works, slap your wife on the but and say, see, i didnt brick it.
then get layed
Thanks, but as for now no cigar...
Hi,
thanks for your help...
Everything that you told me I was able to do...
But still there's that message about encryption...
And when I try a factory reset in Teamwin I get the answer that it's impossible mount /sdcard or /data
There's no way of doing a clean install on the tablet, as it's possible on computers?
I believe I better wait for answer before I do dammage of other type to my tablet...
I hope I have others answers...
Thanks again

Hi again,
As say my wife I'm really hard head...
But this time again I won...
Finally, with the hints of the members here I manage to get back my TF300T to work...
I short here's what I've done( there was lotsa more steps... but I'll keep it short.. ):
1-
I had a mount problem, and I don't remember where I saw this. But it seem that only the original firmware can be mounted and set as base system.
All others roms install over the base system (sorry if it's wrong).
2-
I installed back a fresh version of Teamwin (that for me is the best).
Downloaded the firmware from Asus, for my version. To know wich one I needed to look at the first line that appear on boot time (5 or 6 seconds) while the tablet waits for the recovery program to load.
3-
I copied an unzipped version of the firmware (thats the trick, the zipped firmware came in zipped). Where did I copied it, TO A MEMORY CARD... Thank Lord for a memory slot in this tablet.
4-
Then I installed the firmware, as I would install every other rom. But from the memory card.
5-
Et voilà...
I can see the eyes of my wife that will say... " Not this time baby, but for sure it will happen..." And I'll answer with a smile... And I'll say... Not this time baby, I know that it'll come...:victory::victory::victory::victory::victory:
Again thanks to all, especially to those that told me that it was hard or impossible...

Verizon SCH-i815 unbricking help / need a kernel w. aroma

Hi,
I had edited my build.prop and it bricked my pad. I was told to look for a kernel with aroma file manager. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find one that's for the Verizon SCH-i815 version. I would chalk it up to my inexperience, so i was hoping someone could help me.
Just to be clear, I'm not looking to have a custom rom on my pad, I just want to get it back operational. I have odin on my pad itself, so i'm just looking to flash a tar, then use CWM to fix my build prop by restoring the original version.
Were you running ICS or Honeycomb? Either way, it seems that if you can get into download mode you can flash recovery with Odin and then a stock ROM. You might check the i815 summary thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760587
Or the i815 ICS thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932597
Thanks for the links, i'll read up and see if that solves the problem. I was running the stock honeycomb as verizon hadn't yet updated the tablet yet, though they are supposed to soon.

okay, so i have honey comb on the device, and i'm fine with that honestly, i looked through the first thread, but did not see anything there that mentioned aroma (which I was told to look for since i can't boot beyond Odin). Do you have any recommendations both for a file to download and a method?
Basically, my pad will charge and you get some sort of "response" when you power it on and plug it into a pc. I can enter odin mode by pressing power and volume button, but that's it. I'm just trying to get it back, i don't really care if i have to wipe all the data on there or not, but obviously it would be cool if i did. The way this happened to me was that i edited the model name in the build.prop file after seeing some tutorials on it. There are obviously a ton of tutorials on this, but i've tried several to no avail.
Perhaps someone with more expertise can step up, but I'm pretty sure that if you flash a rom it overrides your build.prop?
All you did was change the build.prop, right? If you can connect with adb, I'm thinking you can probably copy over a build.prop to replace yours.

yes, that's all i did. I don't have any experience with ADB, though i'm not scared of command line ... just have never used it at all. In looking at something like this: http://tabletmods.blogspot.com/2012/06/modifying-buildprop-in-pc.html my concern would be that there's no way for me to put it into debugging mode. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated

Did you try? Maybe it is in debug mode? Would you find your build.prop.backup with ADB commands?
However, if you do things you do, you need to have a backup
So flash another kernel and you will have a cwm. Not sure but I think in cwm you should have an option to activate usb-debugging...

Hi there,
I have only had a little bit of time to address this over the past few weeks but i'm hitting brick walls everywhere I turn. At this point, I just want to restore my tablet to stock. I am not entirely sure why this is so incredibly difficult, but I cannot find a method that seems to allow me to replace my backed up build.prop. So meanwhile, I helped a friend out with a bricked nexus 7 using the nexus root toolkit, is there anything like this for the galaxy tab?
To clarify:
I had a rooted galaxy tab running 3.2 from Verizon. I edited the build.prop and it ended up bricking my tablet. The only option is to boot into recovery, at which point I'm presented with volume up (continue) or volume down (cancel). If i hit up, i'm taken to ODIN MOode, where the product name is listed along with binary (samsung official) and custon binary download: no. That's all i can do.
I downloaded CWM recovery from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542897 and followed the instructions here: http://theunlockr.com/2012/11/14/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-7-7/
however, when i subsequently try and boot into recovery mode, i have no luck. It does not seem to "take" the update thus i'm left with odin mode on the tablet.

[Q] Unsuccessful reflash of Homecare Fly One Note7

Hello guys.
I would like to ask you for help with my bricked Homecare. I apparently cocked up the flashing process and now I don't know, how to proceed.
What I did:
At first I used the Russian (translated) version of supertool designated for Homecare Note 7. But the process wasn't 100 % successful. The bootloader has been unlocked, CWM recovery has been flashed, ROM 4.3 has been flashed. The tablet was able to boot, but it always froze after a few minutes of operation. Most probably there was a wrong boot flashed. No idea.
So, I checked the forums and RootJnky's videos and decided to use CWM to flash a deodex 4.3 stock ROM.
Flash process was successful, but after restart the tablet remains in boot-loop.
Now, I was NEVER able to enter the Recovery or Bootloader using the button combination. Don't ask me why, but it wasn't possible. I could however access recovery or bootloader using ADB.
Right now the only status except a boot-loop is the APX mode. Is there still a chance how to unbrick the tablet???
Thanks for any advice.

At worse case scenario you need to use APX mode to reflash. You can get the download references for the APX files, particularly the package from Advent UK. The package is setup for Windows but it's easy to use in Linux with their executables.
The APX mode does reflash your tablet in whole, but the end result may not be perfect, but should allow a stepping stone to fastboot mode.
If you can obtain 'fastboot' mode then your can reflash partitions. The 'adb' mode in recovery level or system level will allow for updates with 'sideload' command.
Hope that helps.

The only thing different for him is that his Generic bootanimation which Xolo Tegra Note 7's have is now showing advent.
I will send you a PM in a bit out the bootanimation as i have a idea LOL.

Hi hacktrix2006.
Thanks for the help again. The tablet is working like dream. All my Chinese colleagues are staring at it. The poor guys know only the products of the fruit company (Apple).
I saw the boot animation is a set of pictures in the flash package from Advent. It is ZIPed.
Is there any way how to make and flash a boot animation without reflashing the whole thing? (I know the answer already, but I don't know how to do it DD)

Docs on Homecare Fly One rom update
Hi jardam.cz AND hacktrix2006
I see you guys have a working method to update the Homecare Fly One - do you have any documentation on how to root and update the rom for this model? Jardam mentioned a Russian rom, but it caused problems. I really don't want to brick this, as I live and breathe with this tablet every day! But I can't stand the limitations of no root.
Almost all the YouTube videos show EVGA solutions, and lots of people have Homecare Fly One problems - what's the solution please?
They are all the same base nvidia model which is p1640 the lbh partition is wrote when flashing via apx mode which can be risky. However there is a twrp recovery for our device and a stock 4.4.2 image from tom you can use to flash a generic version if the os.

Please help stuck on teamwin screen, can't enter into Recovery

I just got my brand new Aluminum Nexus 6P last night, I wanted to test out the new Developer Preview #4 right away, so enrolled in the program and got the OTA update which I took, and rebooted running Android N, looks pretty neat, and nice tweaks, and some new features. But I always like to run Rooted and install custom ROM's, but Root is #1 for me.
Ok so I need a little help, I am following the excellent video by Rootjunky ( thank you ), and got through the unlocked bootloader part easily, and now installed TWRP Recovery easily too, but upon first time booting into TWRP, it's just sitting at the Blue and Gray teamwin screen, and not doing anything else, it's not actually entering into the Recovery, to see the list of options, etc...
I powered the device down, and started up again in Fastboot mode, then chose Recovery, and does the same again, just sits at the blue gray colored teamwin screen, and does nothing.
What happened ?
UPDATE:
I powered the device down / off. Then started up again, it went and booted up, to the fresh clean Android N DP 4. But I am not rooted at all yet, due not being able to fully enter Recovery and flash the SuperSU zip yet.
The issue is because of encryption... you would need to run fastboot format userdata... and then flash twrp... you would then be able to use it... p.s use the latest twrp version

Can you spell that out a little bit for me please ?
So right now I am on the Android N beta 4, I have an unlocked bootloader, and TWRP not booting up for me, so do I need to restart the whole rooting and Recovery method all over again ? I do have a modified boot.img from another thread here dated 06-15, but at what point am I supposed to run the command for format data ? And what is the exact correct sentence and spelling of that command I should enter ?

Wow thanks, but never heard of this thing before. Is it like a all-in-one root kit, that does it all for you ? I have normally followed the YouTube videos on how to do it the long way with command prompt and pushing files to the phone, etc...
Silly question, but with this toolkit, is this something I download and install on the phone itself, or run through my PC ?

Holy crap, that Nexus Root Toolkit, is like something from Star Trek future. Did Commander Data write this amazing program ? UNBELIEVABLY FANTASTIC PROGRAM.
I was just on the stock phone, not rooted or TWRP or anything, I then install this nexus Toolkit, run the program, and it totally rooted and installed custom TWRP Recovery on my phone, while still being on the Android N 4 preview. I am blown away at how it did all of this, in like 5 minutes.
Couple questions please;
- Android N doesn't have Xposed, so that kind of sucks, but totally expected with this being a beta preview obviously.
- Seems like some root programs not even working, like my classic AdAway, is that due to this being N ?
- How hard is it to revert back to a MM ROM ? Let's say I want to install Pure Nexus ROM, which is already on my SD Card, can I just boot into TWRP Recovery, wipe system, and flash Pure Nexus + GAPPS and reboot ? Or do I need to do something special first to downgrade to MM coming from N now ?

Hey, i've had that same issue but have since fixed it by flashing the rom to the 100011886. I used some of the posts here to flash both vbmeta.img and boot.img to gain root, with success https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17LtLtjKg4JJU9EJdIXPsyNjen0H-ilMX?usp=sharing . i eventually went too far and currupted my rom and had a hard time finding the stock ROM. I found the stock ROM to the 100011886 and flashed that to fix the problem, now i run that as my system and it boots up just fine. https://www.mediafire.com/file/107jp6gwbiwq87q/MT8168_ONN_Gen2_100011886.zip/file

fastboot flash super super.img

Any rom you come across has to be extracted in order to get any necessary files from it. The thread mentions using 7zip but I've personally had better results extracting using ZArchiver. Also, a workaround I've found very useful when dealing with extraction issues, is removing the extension from the file. If all else fails, you may need to erase the super partition and reflash THAT

I don't, but this thread may help:
[STOCK] Stock Backups/Images/OTAs
Since these tablets don't have an external online resource for downloading system updates, only a sketchy OTA app (com.adups.fota) I'm collecting a library of OTAs, as well as boot/recovery/system images. I have access to a 10.1 with keyboard...

Thanks for the response. I'm at the end of that thread currently trying to see what I can find to fix my issue. Aside from buying another one from Walmart and trying to see if I can pull everything from a vanilla tablet, I'm not sure if I'll ever find the exact files.

When my tab crashed on me, flashing the super image solved my issue but it was a different rom. My tab's model number ended in 885 but the super file I flashed came from an 886, it still worked though

I wish I would have waited until I read this today instead of further messing with it yesterday. It looks like everything you have is what I need, but now I am battling trying to get the COM port to stay active when the device is plugged in. I'll tinker with it and see if I can get back to the state I had it in yesterday where it was staying connected.

Would you happen to know/remember all the settings you checked in SP Flash Tool (I assume you used that) when you flashed things to get it working? It seems that my PC is able to communicate with the device again, but I'm unsure of how to proceed next.
Have you installed all of the adb & mtk drivers? If so, you should be able to use adb to reboot into the boot loader then use fast boot to flash the super file

It's hard bricked at the moment unfortunately, so there's no appearance of life to it. Attached picture is the error I get. https://www.gizmoadvices.com/list-sp-flash-tool-error-codes-solution-fix/ appears show info about the error, but it's not something I know how to fix yet.
The only way I can get the tablet to make moves in device manager (which I assume is a sign that the PC can at least partially recognize/see the device) is to click on Download in SPFT, connect tablet to PC via USB cord, and then hold down power button, which led to the error. Errors in SPFT I've received so far are 0xC0060001 and 0xC0060003.
When the tablet is active in the device manager, I assume that the device is in a powered state. However, when the device is grayed out, I assume it's in a powered off state (see other pic). I've yet to find away to actually flash anything to it.

Also, apologies if I'm being a bother, but do you know what version of SPFT you used as well as which DA file?
