[Q] Samsung Galaxy Y Hyperion 7 ROM, SD card 2nd partition file system format? - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Im about to install this ROM to my Galaxy Y and since im going to be installing my apps on my SD card to save up space on my internal memory, i want to know which file system format should i pick for this 2nd partition. I gave the 1st partition the NTFS format which is for my regular files such as music and pictures, but i want to know which one to pick for the 2nd partition (where the apps get installed), should it be Ext2, Ext3 or Ext4? On the stock ROM i would use Ext2, but im not sure if that will do the trick running Hyperion 7.
Also gonna install the Kernel White 1.3.3 to make the boot faster, and ofc the wi-fi driver from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35039447&postcount=630
Cheers!

Ext 3 is stable if not then ext4
I use. Ext4
NOTHING TO SEE HERE

Use ext2

How To Fix a2sd_enabler.sh Unexecutable (error c0 ) On GiggerBread

After I Flash This File http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106989 I Know That He Have Modified Boot.img To Make install-recovery.sh Run At Startup So That We Can Make Script Run.. But After I Rooted My Phone And Using This Script http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031734 To Make The Startup Script To Run .But After I Got Excuted I Got This Error "ERROR: System partition couldn't be remounted, are you on root-aid? (error c0)" It Mean The Script Problum Not The Startup Problum So I use Link2sd To Test .That it Can Mount Sd On Boot Or Not .But It Can So After that I Try To Add Command Manually To install-recovery.sh By Read From a2sd_enabler.sh
Command =
#!/system/bin/sh
/system/bin/sleep 8
/system/bin/mount -t ext2 /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
/system/bin/sh /system/etc/init.d/dtapp
/system/bin/sh /system/etc/init.d/99complete
And IT work ...
If some One want My File install-recovery.sh modified File You can Take it here
Us Root Explorer To Copy It To /system/etc
Don't Forget To Backup Your Old File also
After That reboot Your Phone and Continue Install Darktremor's App2sd+
Thank And Enjoy

U Need To Modified init.rc To Let It Execute install-recovery.sh At Startup Because After 2.3.. Fw Is Out SamSung had Close This Point So we Can Not get a2sd+ To work But Some One In This Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106989 Had Modified The File So we Can Get 2.3.3 To Work. So Just wait for instruction about Modified Boot.img ..So We Can Get It Work Most Of The 2.3...

Yes Actually this method is called app2sd+ to prevent our internal memory from full capacity ..The work it do is fake the system by move ur app to another partition on Ur Sd Card..So u have to format ur Sd as 2 partition First is fat32 Second is ext2 . Ext2 is the linuk file format.. If u Need Extra information just search this key word App2sd+ .. And about 2.3.4 as I Already answered we need to wait for modified boot.IMF to make it execute App2sd+ Script .At boot Time...
Thank

The Phone will Not Show U have 1 gb Internal Memory But If U install App Ur internal Memory Will Not Decrease TooMuch... But The The Thing Is U need To Do By This Following Stucter
1.Format Ur Sd Card 2 Partition 1 fat32 2 ext2
2.Make Ur Phone Mount Ur Second partition At Boot Time
(See Above This Thread What I Have Done If U R in 2.3.3)
3.Install Darktremor's App2sd+ Script

[Q] How to root

Hi guys
This motorola flipout mb511 is my first android phone , as a new user I am just getting to know the terminology.
Can some one please guide me through the steps on how to root my phone so I can move my apps to an sd card.
My firmware is version 2.1 , I have been reading the forums to see how to update this but I havent seen anywhere that it can be done yet .
as a new user please feel free with any recommendations you may have.
greatly appricated
Rooting is really a must, currently there is no official or unnoficial update for the flipout. I belive i rooted with super one click method (google it) but I did it so long ago i can only be 90% sure. As to installing non market apps (which you will most likely need to do for rooting) the easy way is to install the" sideload enabler" from motorola on the market and enable unknown sources, the hard way is using android debug bridge from your computer. Once you get it rooted i would parition the sd card and use link2sd to adress the low internal storage on the flipout. After that there are tons of great tweaks to do with root like blocking ads, overclocking, and changing transition or boot animations good luck.
If you have any problems iKd be happy to help out

Thanks for your reply
I used "super one click method " and rooted the phone.
I installed link2sd.
How do i partition the sd card and transfer apps etc
I formated my micro sd card into two partitions , both fat32
when i try to move some apps to the sd card i am getting any error message
" Mount script error
mount:no such device
ext 3 may not be supported on your device . Try Fat32 on the second partition"
Are you sure that you made both fat32 partitions primary? I think could be it
Sent from my MB511 using xda premium
I rooted my phone and I partitioned my sd card into 2 partitions , both FAT32 primary 3.7GB and when i open link2sd and select either ext 2 or ext 3 I get an error message
"Mount scrip error
Mount scripe cannot be created.
mount: no such device
ext 2 may not be supported on your device. Try FAt32 on the second partition"
Has anyone come accross this problem before ?
when I ran app2sd i scrolled down and selected fat32 so its working perfectly now .
Thanks for all your help

Help Link2SD

Im not a noob,but......
Failt to creat mount script in Link2sd.
With the ext3 partiton = failed to mount,invalid argument,you device dont support..
With the ext2 partiton = failed to mount,invalid argument,you device dont support..
With fat32 only give invalid argument.
creeds 3.5 and kuro kernel
anyone know the cause?
maybe its because kuro kernel does not support ext scripts?

but it fails with fat32 too
hey,i have tested kuros kernel and link2sd has work without problems,because link2sd works ever on kernel likes kuros,kuro has this kernel make from a source/stock kernel(as far as i know)and android supports the normal app2sd as standart in all android phones at version 2.2,so link2sd too.there is an other fail.with kurokernel ihave part with minitool the first part. primary 3,5gb as fat 32 and the second part. as primary with 500mb ext2,it has worked perfectly.
edit:becomes link2sd permissions from superuser and whats with the mountscript after first install?
i have format the 2nd partiton as logic,so there is the problem?
yep,both must be part as primary
solved now

merruk kernel CWM partitioning

ok im here again. im totally confused on what to to do here.i successfully installed merruk 2.5 deluxe in jBv3 3.5 . on my past kernels without a permanent CWM , i already did partitioning an sd card. but now, i cant. u see i used skin-1980-GT-S5360+CMW in the past and i tried using this in merruk. but it will replace the stock CWM and i dont know if its good or bad but i aborted it by restarting it. please tell me what to do.. do i have to use only skin.zip or is there a skin.zip for permanent CWM like in merruk ? :fingers-crossed:

The main benefits that ext 4 has over
ext3 are :
* faster timestamping
* faster file system checking
* journaling checksums
* extents (basically automatic space
allocation to avoid fragmentation)
using ext4is same as ext3 in cwm select ext4 and select ext 4 in app 2sd

[Q] Second Partion issue!

ok here goes the problem
when i did the steps to increase my memory ... its not working ...everything goes well during installation (no force closes too) but after completion nothing happened
i just dont know whats happening ...
does that partition got deleted or what during installing stock rom (via odin) ????
