[Q] Custom ROMs for Droid Pro that are stable? - Droid Pro General

Hello All,
I had recently rooted by Droid Pro and I am looking forward to loading a custom ROM assuming a better usability of my phone after the move to the Custom ROM and better experience over all.
I was checking through various links. However, many of the links do NOT seem to detail what is working and what is not as a part of the ROM Delivery.
I am in India and my Droid Pro is SIM unlocked and rooted and I am on the latest version of Stock.
I had installed CWM using the Droid 2 Bootstrapper.
Could some one throw some light if
1. Bluetooth
2. WiFi
3. 2G / 3G
4. GSM
5. Camera - for Photos
6. Camera - for Videos
7. Camera - for Panaroma
8. GPS / Navigation - with GMaps / Waze
9. Side button for Droid Pro
Work on any of the below Custom ROMs?
1. CM7 by Jackpot Calvin
2. CM7 by VanillaLVL
3. CM9 ?
4. CM10 ?
5. any other Custom ROMs?
Also, could you please let me know which of these are stable for everyday use?
FYI: Since there is no blog / article out there linking to all the existing ROMs for DPro with their features and "what is not working list", I would try to compose one with the responses I get from this and from other sources around the internet.
Thank you

@VanillaLVL
I had installed CM7 from VanillaLVL and I love it so far!
However, I have 2 step authentication enabled for my google services and the gapps version that I flashed from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1966012 along with CM7 does NOT seem to support it.
Is there another version of gapps that I should be using?
Please help.
Thank you

For 2 steps authentication you should generate password in google security setting and use it like a normal password in gapps.

Tried that!

Yes. I tried that... However, I get back the error saying that my password is not valid.
I tried using both Google account password and Application Specific password. No luck.
The moment I disable 2 step authentication, my usual google password is accepted on my phone with out any issues.
For some reason, both my google account password / application specific password do NOT seem to work using gapps.

I'm using this rom and 2 steps auth and is working fine.

Hmm... not sure why! but that does not seem to be the behavior in my case.
Do you think flashing the gapps again could help?
Just want to be sure that reflashing gapps doesn't mess anything with the current phone setup! i.e., loss of data or something or some loss of settings causing apps to fc.. or any such?

Thanks.
I just reflashed gapps again and 2 step auth is now working for google.
Not sure why it dint work previously though.
Loving CM7 by VanillaLVL so far.
Lastly, is there any wifi tether app that is used as standard on CM7?

[BUG FIX] For Ginger Yoshi for 32a/b and G1...

READ THE FLIPPING MANUAL!!! (or RTFM for short)
so please do us all a favor and read this in it's entirety....
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!...
This thread is a listing of bugs both current and fixed for the Ginger Yoshi ROM line available HERE
PLEASE READ THE |OP| IN ITS ENTIRETY AS REPEATED QUESTIONS WILL BE IGNORED
This will serve as Yoshi's to do and completed list for his Gingerbread line of ROM's, and also a Q&A section for issues....
Current Issues Fixed

Eaten messages (mms.apk and email app)
3rd party GPS 32b

updated deskclock
updated html viewer
updaed cmparts new long press search button to launch custom app (short press has a bug dont use that)
Fixed with the NEXT RELEASE
Some apks changed around
Not currently fixed:
USB tether(on 32b devices only, other devices with certain kernel combinations)
on/off screen animations
SMS reporting issue
Please bear in mind the easiest and simplest way of correcting an issue with a ROM is to read the ROM's |OP|, and the easiest correction is to re-wipe (using both ohsaka's superwipev2 from here, and recovery wipe the list... do both twice)your phone well, then reflash the rom...
General Questions:
Q: This app or that app is not working....
A: wipe and reflash....
Q: This or that app won't work on Ginger Yoshi, but worked fine on Froyo Yoshi
A: Some developers have not supported their work on the 2.3 line yet... it is a developer issue, not a ROM issue....
Q: I get error whatever trying to flash the ROM in recovery?
A: Download the link again, wipe and reiinstall.
Q: Google Setup FC's (that's force closes)
A: make sure you have an ext partition set up, preferably ext4, wipe (see above) and reinstall ROM
Q: Why isn't this or that incorporated in the ROM?
A: Either because it breaks something, or maybe it was FORGOTTEN, we all do this for the betterment of the community...
Q: Do I need to wipe before upgrade?
A: Unless it specifically says no wipe update, which yoshi has yet to do thus far, YES YOU NEED TO WIPE!! it GREATLY reduces issues... (on another note even the CM team has made a post by a Senior Mod here)
Q: I ask questions before searching or reading....
A: You will either be flamed or ignored...
G1/32B
Q: My phone hangs on boot?
A: Make sure you have the 2.22.27.08 or 2.22.28.05 radio and the 1.33.0013 or 1.33.0013d spl... available here
32a
Q: Can I use the new 6.35 radio?
A: NO!! it says so in the ROM's OP, you should be using the old 3.22 radio, and the 1.33.2009 or 1.33.2010 SPL.
Q: What kernel should I use?
A: this one...
Q: Why do I have to flash a radio, on other ROM's I don't?
A: Because that's what the Dev says, the is YOSHI's ROM not Mr. XYZ...
MT3G 1.2
Q: I am confused, on what to do?
A: check this post hereby jjrumph
Q: What kernel do I flash?
A: Well you can flash 1 or 2... this oneto get you booted, it will work, you can also flashthis one modded by ratking with an extra 10mb of space...

Most everything runs great. Text to speech settings force closes which looks like it's addressed in next release.
Only issue for me is that I'm trying to install Swype using Swype Installer. Keep getting Data network experienced problem message try again. Keep getting this. Had it installed on CM 6.1 with no issue.
Currently using My Touch 3G with 3.5 mm JAck
Radio 2.22.28.25 hboot 1.33.0013
Great work though. Love the rom.

Okay, I've uninstalled Tweetdeck, cleared cache, rebooted and reinstalled.... and still getting FC. I'm lost as to what is going on here, everything else is working fine?
I'll just have to wait until the next Yoshi Ginger release and perform another wipe to see if that fixes the issue.

I didn't reinstall the rom this time, just uninstalled Tweetdeck, cleared cache (if that even did anything) and reinstalled it... oh and I removed the backup file I had in Titanium back too.
I'll perform a full wipe (superwipe) when I flash the new Yoshi rom, see if that fixes it.
ok so i got swype installed however it says the one downloaded is for a difderent device so the actual swype doesnt work any ideas...

If Swype is checked in settings, then try long press text area and choose other keyboard. The do the same thing, long press and press Swype and see if that works. Thats what I had to do if I rebooted on 6.1

My way of getting a almost perfect Cyanogen Mod 6 on X10

Ok here it goes. What im trying to do here is share my experience and how i managed to get a almost fully working Cyanogen Mod rom on my x10, due to the fact that there was some mis understandings between the devs and development has some how decreased. It goes to show that working together could bring wonders to the X10. This setup is rock solid! Not one reboot in 3 days test, sd card works(sometimes you have to unmount in settings to install say angrybirds and others then mount again) but it works, camera works, video camera works(with illusion app on market), wifi fixed with blade wifi fix, smooth as butter, maps work, gps works etc!
Heres what i did!
First with recovery flash Zs beta 3, factory reset, cache wipe, boot. After it is settled flash Zs beta 3 hot fix 1 with recovery, reboot, flash Zs gapps zip 19xx., reeboot. When it boots set up everything, contacts, facebook, twitter, everything! All your accounts! When done boot into recovery and do a backup of the rom. Then with recovery flash Trips Cyanogen Rom V1, wipe data, cache and davlik cache, and reboot. When cyanogen is settled in, go to recovery and flash Zs gapps zip V1, reboot. Go to recovery again and flash Zs beta 3 hotfix 1 on Cyanogen, reboot. Go to recovery and on back up and restore, advanced and restore only data from Zs rom you made a backup of before, reboot. You may have to flash gapps zip again if market is missing, so do it, if not go to next step. Go into market and download illusion video cam app, and blade wifi fix. You should now have video recording with illusion app and wifi should be fixed! Hope this help some people to get an excellent rom on their device as this my daily driver with no issues so far and everything that should work does. I just hope the devs can come together as i know theyre capable of making wonders for our devices! Thanks to T, Z, J and all others in xda for making my device awesome! Thanks!

Thanks for the info man!
Why don't you share a backup of that rom?
Thanks!
hm, ok, but mixing the 2 roms is way easier from the first method mentioned, and takes a lot less time, but i like the innovative thinking
I made my cyanogen rom too, and my works too. But i merged trip cyanogen 1.2 with zdzihu freex10 beta 4 and it worked like a charm. Even sdcard so no need for unmounting for installing angry birds. If someone need the zip tell me how i can share it. But u need the latest baseband .54 to use it.
Sorry for my English
And sorry that i used your thread.

The devs seem to be using mediafire so upload it there it should be fairly simple since you were able to find a roundabout way of merging them. Then link the dl site here. Might wanna check if its ok with the people you got it from though. Just respect ya know?

With the development of the video camera, have you tried any of the QR scanners?
For example I use Barcode Scanner pretty often, is it the software of Barcode Scanner using the android drivers making it not work, or is there a way to get the barcode scanner running similarly to the 3rd party video camera app.
Thanks

Problem with wifi and cyanogen

Hi guys I have a poblem with my legend...when I turn on the wifi, it sometimes reboot...someone had the same problem? Someone knows how to fix it?

when you install a CM7 nightly then the radio isn't changed.
It install only the ROM.
Why this question about the radio version?
i thought the problem of the reboot could be the Radio...
I have EXACTLY the same problem...
Well, i'm experimenting some freezing issues with my Htc Legend on CM 7.03, when the wifi is on, i launch Android market (or something else... like trillian, a game etc..) in order to search apps or upgrade installed ones, after few swipes... : big freeze, then reboot.
i'm experimenting this problem since the first stable release.
I'm running LauncherPro Plus as Home Replacement, have S2E (for A2SD) and the 7.13 radio.
I would just know if someone else do have this issue too.
I was using Blayo before without any freezes.

same problem here too.
I had the same with one of the nighlies (87). I had Go Launcher has homescreen replacement.
Running 7.0.3 with ADB there were no issues anymore!
will go to 7.0.3 - thanks. by the way, what does adb do to the phone whilst not plugged in?
These WiFi reboots sound similar to those in ogo2's Sense 2.3 ROM, I wonder if they're linked?
Well ogo's, rom is 97% cyanogen 7, and cyanogen 7 has had these wifi issues since they started using htc code (see post in dev section).
partial work-around
well, going back to the latest stable version of cyanogenmod (7.0.3 at this time...even though i will miss the better responsiveness of adw in the newer nightlies) and using wifi fixer is a partial work-around to this problem for m.
Hello.
Could you please tel me where can I download diferent versions of radio for the Legend?
Have almost 0% of wifi and mobile coverage after installing CM 7.03.
Thanks!

I have such case at work, and my problem is tha this first page just won't load. It works ok on my coworkers phone (nexus s). Any suggestions what can I try. I've tried with Skyfire browser and with nativ cm browser, but it doesn't work. I'm using CM 7.0.3 stable
Wifi seems to be fixed in Cyan 7.1.0 RC1 at least is is on mine.

this rom is working fine, faster and Launcher is so cool.. but you need to customize many things, because of china social capabilities and no gapps preinstalled...
no bugs at the moment... but is too early to say anything... =D

It means that u have to install by youtself... XD

Thanks, but what a huge pain in the butt this is to accomplish. Especially if you don't remember all the key combinations for stock recovery and bootloader mode, how to enter cwm, then realize this wipes cwm (well maybe it doesn't, I couldn't find an easy way to run it) and you have to install droid2bootstrapper from your SD card as there is no market or any Google apps, then install Google apps via cwm, because the stock recovery won't accept it. Then you get a runaround with the kernels and rooting the darn thing, then the asshole won't accept my correct motoblur credentials, then you have to clean all the crapware using titanium backup pro, then you configure your google apps, reinstall all the apps you had previously and now you're done, not entirely sure if it was worth it...
Some icons are more refined in comparison to the earlier leak, and the radio seems a bit more stable, we'll see tomorrow in low signal areas.
I had problems installing google apps.
All in all I didn't think it was worth the effort - I'll wait till the English version comes out.
Quadrant - 1769
Linpack - 17.1 MFLOPS
Not bad.
any idea to insert "normal english" motoblur account? like twitter, facebook, bebo etc...

Latest/ best current Ginger Mod for A953?

Hi,
I've successfully modded my MS2 yesterday using (walter's?) "ms2ginger-rc2". It's been quite easy - I expected it to be much more difficult.
Unfortunately it's impossible to add accounts (app crashs). Therefore I plan to roll back to the sysbackup Imade before with Clockworkmod and to re-mod it with a newer/ better/ more stable variant.
Can you suggest one that you are happy with? I am fine with Blur - it can be included.
Anything to keep in mind for the rollback? Just revert to the backup via the bootloader?
CU,
Meszi.

i have tried CM7 and was before using it on BackFlip, but on Milestone 2 i am really loving MIUI its great ROM.
The problem is as i saw no one who is maintaining these CM7 or MIUI rom is not Dev, so i kinda think Milestone 2 can perform better with some optimalisation for it. The reason is as far as Stock Froyo was slow, CM7 and MIUI did not show kinda speed progress or increase i guess it is performing same as stock ROM or maybe little but only little better, on BackFlip there was really dramatic speed change on CM7 but the dev around BF was more active then on Milestone and i am happy with what we have already.
As far as I know, the MIUI is the latest one. But that's just because endles7's ( the guy who is porting CM7 to M2) phone is bricked at the moment.
Both, CM7 and MIUI are great ROMs, but, at least for now, if you're looking for the newest one, then MIUI is the one for.
I believe that CM7 will be supported again soon, there is a movement on the forum to buy endles7 a new one if his is really bricked forever.
I'm using MIUI because o like the interface better.
Hope it helped =)
Upgraded to "ms2ginger 1.1" but still problems with accounts management
Hi,
I reverted to Froyo, reloaded the backup I had done with Clockworkmod, made an app backup using Titanium and re-modded the device to "ms2ginger 1.1". But still there is the same issue with accounts ("Konten" in German): When trying to add an account the app crashes.
I am fine with the rest ... it works far faster than with Froyo.
Is there a way to get accounts/"Konten" work again? Probably by finding it in the Titanium backup and taking the old app or by (re)installing some working .apk?
At the moment I am still very new to this topic ... until last week I still believed in the myth having bought an "unmoddable" device.
I'd try CM7, too ... but if it's possible to have it done with "ms2ginger" I'd at first prefer trying it that way.
Any suggestions?
CU,
Mészi.
after trying cm7, i really prefer MIUI Rom on A953 !
but Cyanogen team will soon release a 2.3.7 Rom ... so we'll see !
Switching from MS2Ginger to CM7 Nightly
Sorry, if it appears to be a dumb question. But at the moment I am still very new to this topic and want to avoid bricking the device by forgetting a thing when switching from "MS2Ginger 1.1" to some CM7 ROM...
When reading the installation steps of the nightly build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778)...
*START copy&paste*
[How to Install]:
1. Download all in one update.zip
2. Make sure you have CWM3.x/4.x working. Or download from here.
3. select all in one.zip then apply update.
4. double wipe(if you are coming from previous CM7 version,just wipe cache/dalvik)
5. For CWM4.x, reboot and done.
For CWM3.x, download fixed-sbf and flash it. Then done.
*END copy&paste*
...it's not plain to me if I needed to switch back to the official Froyo or if "updating" with the all in one.zip and wiping the data would be sufficient to get rid of the previous "MS2Ginger". :-/
Any recommendations?
CU,
Mészi.
Do you try with "RSD Lite" software to put the stock Rom ?
and then you do the update to the custom rom ... no brick with this method i think ! but i'm not expert sorry !

That's the question.
If it's not necessary I'd directly load the CM7 ROM using CWM.
But, anyway: As long as I can access the boot loader (PowerOn + Cam + VolDown) I could still revert to the official Froyo if updating to CM7 directly would not work.
I think I just give it a try...

exactly ... i was afraid last friday while updating my stock rom for MIUI ... my battery goes out !
all day i was thinking that my lovely Milestone was bricked ... but with "rsd lite" i re-install my original froyo ... and then i could re-root it and put the miui version !
last version is perfect ! just the problem of keyboard layout but there is a script who put it back to azerty ...
have a good luck for your update !

So you would recommend downgrading to the official Froyo at first? *somewhat confused* :-/
Sent from my MB953 using XDA App
... i don't really know ... just said that for me that was the only way to rescue my bootlooping m2 !
normaly you can update from any rom, just don't forget to clear cache, "dalvik cache" too (don't remeber the name) ...
the best is to do a factory reset before rebooting too ... but it's not always necessary ... from miui 1.09.23 to miui 1.10.8 i don't have to do it ...
they don't talk about it in the related post of your rom ?
Ok, thx. I am gonna just try it wiping the cache and overwriting the ROM. ROM switching is not relly described in the MS2Ginger HowTos. *g*
Will post my results here...

Good luck !

Worked w/o any problems
Hi there,
I just "updated" my MS2 from "ms2ginger 1.1" to "EndlessCM7_20111001_Nightly_BPSW_v1_0" without any problems.
I can only recommend to check the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778
Thanks for your replies so far.

happy to see that it worked !
Problems with CM/ Nightly
Hi there,
I am half-way about to throw it away again.
I installed EndlessCM7_20111001_Nightly_BPSW_v1_0.zip and then EndlessCM7_update_from_111001_to_111004_v1_5.zip and it appeared to work fine.
But I had to recognize an instable Market app, WiFi cannot connect to my access point and the camera app crashes reliably after starting it.
I will post this in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778 too hoping that these are known issues with known solutions on it.
If anyone of you knows I'd be glad if you threw some suggestions at me.
CU,
Mészi.
O well....
For me, MIUI is workind perfectlly, without any problems.
And, my battery life increased alot with the latest build of it
So i would recommend it.

Update: I reverted to the stock ROM and installed the most recent version of EndlessCM7. Now it's working fine.
Details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18352563&postcount=1382
Thanks for all suggestions. Hopefully this thread will be useful though too for other noobs avoiding the mistakes I did.

Hi, Michael:
I'd like to have my MS2's battery improved like you said and enjoy Exchange server support as well . Do you know if MIUI rom supports it?
MIUI has Exchange server support and works fine.
