CM10.1 HUGE drop in Antutu Score - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Stock 4.2.1 with franco's kernel: 1723
Stock 4.2.1 without franco's kernel: 1841
Now here comes the weird part...
CM10.1 4.2.1 with franco's kernel: 1243
What gives? What's with the sudden drop in the score? Is anybody else getting similar results? Is it because CM10.1 shuts off two of the cores? This comes as a surprise to me because I've been running CM10.1 for the past hour and it's noticeably smoother than the stock rom.

I could care less about the benchmark itself. What worries me is whether or not CM10.1 shuts down two of my Nexus' four cores.

Probably franco's kernel does that. Which one are you on?
P. S. Why does it matter if phone runs ok for your usage..?

r72.
Also, because I paid top dollar to make the switch from my Galaxy S. If I really wanted functionality and nothing more, I would've just stuck with my Galaxy S.
Would you mind running an Antutu benchmark and telling me what you get? It could be an error on my side. thx

Hm, can't do that, sorry. Last time I run a benchmark was more than a year ago, I hate them passionately. Particularly with the crappy job LG has done in the building of this phone, antutu is like the devil..
Isn't that r72 supposed to turn the cores off though? Try a different one?

Nope, r72 introduced hot-plugging. Anyway, that definitely had nothing to do with the score seeing as to how I was running the same kernel on stock when I ran the test.

You got serious problems if you can't break 2000 on antutu. Because i can tell you at least one app that runs awfully slow for you, and thats antutu.

only those devices running bionic patched roms are going over 20000 in antutu, devices running the normal roms score a little less.

Sadly on stock when I first got the phone I would get over 4000 but now with GB and a 1.1 overclock I only get up to 3600. Is it really that far off on performance because it isn't a final build or is the final build going to be like this?
How is it you were getting 4000 or 4700 on quadrant standard?

hey guys, big news! benchmarks don't mean anything in reality.
my best "In Use" score is 3196. by in use I mean I have all the programs running I would have normally so I got a lot of junk running in the background. I have yet to kill everything and see what I can get with that.

You felt the need to express this why? This wasn't in the Q&A section as do benchmarks mean anything. It's a post about your scores not about people trying to prove their tech hierarchy.

Neither do 1/4 mile or 0 to 60 times, but they are fun to throw around.
I got a 3600 "in-use" benchmark, with max and min set to 1.1. With max at 1.1 and min still at .2, I still got 3200, which is not bad.
You seriously got 4000+ while on the phone's original stock system and everything??
Mine feels so much faster and snappier now on GB with the faux kernel and everything..

Low benchmarks on my Nexus 4

Okay, heres the deal, When I first got my Nexus I used to get benchmark scores of the range 17-18k in Antutu, but recently, since I've tried benchmarking, I've been getting scores of only 10k, on Paranoid android 3.15, PAC, and Xylon ROMs, all with the franco kernel r134. So today I decided to flash a stock, deodexed rom, my benchmarks improved, but only by about 4k, I'm getting about 14k consistently. When I checked benchmark threads people have been getting 18-19k on stock ROMs, any suggestions on how to get that kind of performance on my Nexus?
Probably not what you want to hear but my suggestion is to stop caring so much about what numbers some app spews out and just look at how well your phone performs in day-to-day usage. If I somehow managed to get a score of 20K on my HD2, that wouldn't make it a better phone in any way.

True, but it's just annoying to see that it used to give better results about a month ago and now they are pretty crappy. I mean, even after overclocking to 1700 I couldn't get it to go over 12k.

It was just a little warm at the end of the test, not much, all the settings were default, and I had killed all the apps before running the test.

[Q] NEXUS 4 KitKat official release benchmark ?

Hello all!
Strange "issue" - i don't know if this is an issue but yeah - i installed the KITKAT release that appeared about 20 hrs ago on the google website...
Now - Antutu score has dropped a lot!
Before 4.4, i hat stock 4.3 - 19000 score and last AOKP with franco kernel - 20600
NOW - with 4.4 it has dropped to 14639 !!!!!!!

already is, while i was on n5 port i got 16k witch is standard for stock, that 14k just confirm what i said in other threads, 4.4 is more laggy than 4.3(not laggy like it lags a lot, but sometimes u see some little lags where u dont see on 4.3)
1. Antutu has changed a lot since even 4.3.. Separate dalvik tests etc.. Scores may have changed
2. Google phone software always comes unoptimised.. No krait/bionic optimisation and also with dog slow dalvik/Java libraries.
Kernel and rom devs should have normal performance resumed shortly.. Hopefully.

Not a valid argument - i've done all the tests today and yesterday- same antutu version
Furthermore- has anyone made similar before/after tests with other benchmark programs??
I dont know if it's placebo, but 4.4 seems at least that buttery as 4.3 to me....

now why do you say that antutu is the worst? in reality, they are both just as bad. yes, geek bench is just as inaccurate.
So, do these results indicate any sort of actual real life increase or decrease in performance?
I apologise just would like for someone to clear this up for me.
No. It is well known that bench marks mean nothing. They are easily fooled into giving higher scores with laggier performance
Wayne Tech Nexus
yes and no.... benchmarks are irrelevant to a certain point. But overall - they offer a view on the performance - an s2 will get a lower score as an s3, or a nexus 4.. and that with cheating on benchmarks, i think the only one that was found was samsung... one more reason 4 me to hate them and their recycled plastic products

You should be aware that the phone underclocks when reaches a certain temperature. Keep that in mind and re-do your benchmark. Put your phone somewhere cold, like granite, wait some minutes and do your benchmark.
Me too its just 15k in antutu.. And im getting some lags in games like FIFA 14 and a good battery drain it drains 7-10% in one night without use.

Agreed! Felt the same when i started using.
Any issues yet?
The only issue im having is that when i increase the volume while playing music and try to slide the volume bar on the screen, it doesnt work.
EDIT: Runnin butter smooth after 2 restarts since the rom installation.
Just got 17,915 Antutu on stock 4.4, tested in performance mode. Seems normal to me; bring on the bionic and dalvik enhancements.

Although i am new to nexus 4, ye i upgraded from nexus one just 1 week ago (nexus one lasted almost 4 years, what a dog !) i do have to say the kitkat update has made a significant negative impact in 3d games/applications.
The performance drop is obvious on say, minion rush. As i am a gamer in PCs for many years, since 1986, and a tv control news expert , i can easily feel the frames being near 25 and i can even tell if frames are down to 20 10 or 5.
I am pretty certain the frames in Minion Rush for example (heavier game i have atm in n4) have dropped at least 30% and i am pretty sure they were not way above 25 before kitkat. I estimate 10-15 fps max

However, in CM13 with halogen kernel I scored about 21k. I know that benchmark do not depict the real life conditions, but 10k less in MM must mean something also.
Last CM12.1 NIightly with decipher kernel. 25016 on Antutu

Very low benchmark scores.

Hello,
The title says all.
I am getting very low benchmark scores.
In geekbench3: 1200 in single core and 2300 in multi core..
AnTuTu: 44506
What i have done to the moto x style:
unlocked bootloader
Installed supersu and xposed.
Factory reset already done.
Performance seems not that bad actually.
But the scores tells me otherwise.

If your performance feels good in real world use, why do you need some benchmark to tell you otherwise?
I am on aicp and put xclark kernel to perfromance and got 48k, before i had it on interactive and hotplug on eco performance. No difference felt how device performed.

I have been using it as my daily,
Only one issue that has caused some concerns is that, if you lose the phone signal and you are on gsm,
it switches to cdma and then acts like you don't have a sim card...It can take reboots and hours for it to
return to gsm. However this hasn't happened to me for 5 days now with the newer builds.
My phone hardly ever heats up much with cm12.1...and I DON"T use any processor tweaks.

I hate apple, but Apple definitely got it right by saying it is not always all about "hardware specs" and it's more of a coexisting relationship between the hardware and software that is more important.
Samsung definitely has the superior hardware, but their ****ty TouchWiz screws it all up
