These don't work:
*#*#44336#*#* - PDA, Phone, CSC, Build Time, Changelist number
*#272*IMEI# - Reset user data + Change salescode
Does anybody know how to change Sales CODE by typing similar stuff in dialer like the above?

You can use THIS app, but you need root and make sure to backup your apps and data. It makes a factory reset on reboot.

Engineering Mode

Hey I just found this while browsing my registry on the 8125. It looks interesting but I can't risk having to hard reset right now. I just have too much going on to have to redo my phone at the moment. If anyone can please check it out.
Engineering Mode
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EngineerMode]
"BuildInEngineeringModeApp"=dword:00000001
"LaunchEngineerModeAppDialStr"="*#*#364#*#*"
Try dialing this in the phone *#*#364#*#*
Please post any findings.
Later; Lew
"....please dial 611 for customer assistance...."
Thats all that happens?
You have to turn it on first (its shut off.) Edit the "BuildInEng..." key to "1" and reboot (soft reset)
I've tried this on the SDA with no results. On the MDA it comes up but all data is blank! If we can figure out WHY (perhaps RAPI locking or something?) we might be able to make that work!

unfortunately it seems to work like that on every htc wizard, not depending on ROM version. i guess this app needs some special library which is not included in 'standard' versions of device aimed on regular consumers but only for network operators etc (like netmonitor in nokia mobiles).
No need to add the registry hust simply type "*#*#364#*#*" without quotes on the phone dial screen it will automatically run the app.
Works on the new IMATE and Qtek roms, but has no data on the earlier ones......

if you change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EngineerMode\LaunchEngineerModeAppDialStr value to - for example - *789#, then you can access engineer app via *789# code. much easier and quicker.
Works on Palm Treo Pro out of the box !!!

# codes for redirecting

Using codes from here - http://www.arcx.com/sites/GsmFeatures.htm
I want to setup speed dial to re-direct my phone sometime. However if I put *21*[Phone Number]# into a contact and try and dial it I get "Command not supported".
Any way I can do this?
Thanks
M.
does the command work if you put it directly into the phone pad dialler and press dial??
Yup, works perfectly like that. Looking for a way to do it from a memory quickly. Any ideas?
Thanks
M.
Hi Otto-Mate,
I've no time to test and don't know if the HTC Universal allows but have you tried saving the number to the SIM and linking the speed dial to it there?
If this device (having a quick look show's it's not) GCF certified then it should be able to dial *21*xxxx numbers from the U/SIM but I don't know if the speed dial will link to it...
Gavin.
You might want to look at SKScheMa at www.s-k-tools.com which using a script can make a call. It will give you a shortcut to the script to execute it.

GPS and XDA exec

Having to hard reboot my XDA exec for first time in years ! - Ive lost some GPS software which forced additional ports - the icon was globe type - I also beleive the XDA has this faciltity hidden - Ive read "Some Pocket PC OEMs hid the GPS control panel. However, it can be unhidden by going into the registry and deleting any "Redirect" or "Hide" keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings- can anyone give advice on how to do this on the XDA- Thanks

Where is the hitch-hackers guide to the Galaxy?

Hi, I recently bought a Galaxy (what a great device!) and like all devices I own(ed) I'm very eager to tweak this phone.
I'm looking for a sort of faq, guide, site that will get me up to date with the details of screwing up my device a.s.a.p. . No, just kidding: is there a good android repository that I can consult. One that introduces me in the "basics" of android tweaking?
Thanks in advance
unfortunately they put it in the wrong plage, but here it is

Thanks, I've read that faq before. It's a good faq for newbies like me, but I'm more interested in how I can do little adjustments to the system without flashing or installing a complete new rom.
As a WinMo user my questions are more like: where is the registry How are the directories organized, where are initialisation files, where do apps store there data and settings, can we do scripting on the android platform etc.
Found a really good developers site: http://developer.android.com/index.html
Other useful links are very welcome. I will collect them in the first post. Maybe this way we can create a hitch-hackers guide to the Galaxy
I found this to be pretty useful. Its about how android handles multiple applications running.

Fouond Some Test Codes

FYI These codes have been obtained by decoding various .apk files present in the phone firmware.
*#*#4636#*#*
This code can be used to get some interesting information about your phone and battery. It shows following 4 menus on screen:
Phone information
Battery information
Battery history
Usage statistics
*#*#7780#*#*
This code can be used for a factory data reset. It'll remove following things:
Google account settings stored in your phone
System and application data and settings
Downloaded applications
It'll NOT remove:
Current system software and bundled applications
SD card files e.g. photos, music files, etc.
PS: Once you give this code, you get a prompt screen asking you to click on "Reset phone" button. So you get a chance to cancel your operation.
*2767*3855#
Think before you give this code. This code is used for factory format. It'll remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It'll also reinstall the phone firmware.
PS: Once you give this code, there is no way to cancel the operation unless you remove the battery from the phone. So think twice before giving this code.
*#*#34971539#*#*
This code is used to get information about phone camera. It shows following 4 menus:
Update camera firmware in image (Don't try this option)
Update camera firmware in SD card
Get camera firmware version
Get firmware update count
WARNING: Never use the first option otherwise your phone camera will stop working and you'll need to take your phone to service center to reinstall camera firmware.
*#*#7594#*#*
This one is my favorite one. This code can be used to change the "End Call / Power" button action in your phone. Be default, if you long press the button, it shows a screen asking you to select any option from Silent mode, Airplane mode and Power off.
You can change this action using this code. You can enable direct power off on this button so you don't need to waste your time in selecting the option.
*#*#273283*255*663282*#*#*
This code opens a File copy screen where you can backup your media files e.g. Images, Sound, Video and Voice memo.
*#*#197328640#*#*
This code can be used to enter into Service mode. You can run various tests and change settings in the service mode.
WLAN, GPS and Bluetooth Test Codes:
*#*#232339#*#* OR *#*#526#*#* OR *#*#528#*#* - WLAN test (Use "Menu" button to start various tests)
*#*#232338#*#* - Shows WiFi MAC address
*#*#1472365#*#* - GPS test
*#*#1575#*#* - Another GPS test
*#*#232331#*#* - Bluetooth test
*#*#232337#*# - Shows Bluetooth device address
*#*#8255#*#*
This code can be used to launch GTalk Service Monitor.
Codes to get Firmware version information:
*#*#4986*2650468#*#* - PDA, Phone, H/W, RFCallDate
*#*#1234#*#* - PDA and Phone
*#*#1111#*#* - FTA SW Version
*#*#2222#*#* - FTA HW Version
*#*#44336#*#* - PDA, Phone, CSC, Build Time, Changelist number
Codes to launch various Factory Tests:
*#*#0283#*#* - Packet Loopback
*#*#0*#*#* - LCD test
*#*#0673#*#* OR *#*#0289#*#* - Melody test
*#*#0842#*#* - Device test (Vibration test and BackLight test)
*#*#2663#*#* - Touch screen version
*#*#2664#*#* - Touch screen test
*#*#0588#*#* - Proximity sensor test
*#*#3264#*#* - RAM version
NOTE: All above codes have been checked on Google Android phone Samsung Galaxy I7500 only but they should also work in other Google Android phones.
Nice..!

You're a senior member. You should know that giving credit to those who produce is an important part of this community. Also your title has a typo if we're going to go down that road.

@thatruth132,
If you are not the creator of such guide, even if you don't know who the original source is, you should credit the source where you obtained it from. In this case, you should point out that you are reposting this guide created by user (insert username here) from ipmart. That is the correct way of reposting guides. Please fix your first post to include this information.
@RJackson,
He may not know the actual origin of the guide, so plagiarism may be a bit of an overkill when accusing him.
i didnt want to post the site because its a warez site so how do i go about doing that , please and thank you

Good point. Maybe you can simply thank the user on that site without mentioning the site itself...
ie,
Thanks xyw for the information.... or something along these lines...
Thank you for complying with the rules... this is refreshing to see once every now and then
