[Q] Camera Questions - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed the ticking sound of the auto focus today while using the camera, just wanted to know if it is supposed to be that loud or if I have a problem?
Also, I'm not a camera expert but I noticed that for any close up pictures, the phone has to be at least a good 2/3 inches away from the object to focus on it properly, otherwise the picture just comes out blurry. Is this normal for every camera?

Well I don't know what you mean with "that loud" but I can also hear mine, so I don't think you have a problem.
I remember my S3 also had problem focussing on close range, guess it's normal. Your eye can't focus on anything closer than 7cm (about 3 inch?) either.

[Q] Nexus 4 Camera Lens "Pop" sound

For anyone who has the Nexus 4, have you noticed any loud pop sound originating from the lens? Now, I may have actually caused it through ignorance. I started messing with the ISO settings through Camera Zoom FX and set it at 100 in a low light environment. The camera started lagging (focusing took long and moving around was extremely choppy) perhaps because of the lens' attempt to gather as much light as possible. After I successfully took the picture, the camera lens started to pop, no matter which camera I used (Camera 360 or Stock). Has this happened to anyone else, or did I just mess up my camera (warranty covers it though)?
mines do it too i dont think anything of it it has its moments but its stops the only time i hear it from auto focusing and me focusing more on top of that

[Q] Shutter sound on Sharp Aquos

Recently purchased this phone(Boost).. Its nice.(For the price) The screen looks bigger than it actually is, and pretty quick.
One issue right off the the back. Cant turn off the shutter sound when taking photos!!!!!!. Is there a way this can be done? or will it need to be rooted?
Camera isnt that bad and the low-light feature is decent. I am use to the Note 3 camera and functions. However this will be a nice phone for a Pre Teen.. Any insight on this will be appreciated

From what I understand, you will need root to turn the camera shutter off if it already is not an option.
With other phones it was simply removing all of the sound files associated with the camera app.
It's a privacy thing, so that one cannot take any photos of another without their consent.
If I remember correct (can still be wrong), that was a primary result of the taking of photos of someone in a dressing room, mainly men of women.

So with the latest update, muting the shutter sound is supposed to be an option. Has anyone been able to mute the sound? I can't seem to find the option to turn it off despite sharp detailing this as a feature with the update.
Kind of hard to take snap shots of a sleeping baby (or anything when there is a sleeping baby) with such a loud camera shutter, lol.

After installing the latest update, just simply set your phone to silent or vibrate and that should mute the shutter while taking a picture.

High pitched noise coming from camera when focusing

Hey guys so I have an interesting one for you today. A while back I've noticed something weird happening to my camera. Whenever I try to focus it's like the camera like vibrates really quickly. After making a video and playing it back I also noticed a high pitched noise when filming and it's trying to focus. So I went into the camera app and tried focussing. When holding my ear to the general area around the camera I can hear the same high pitched noise. I haven't seen this anywhere on the internet before or after a little googling.
Does anyone know what this is/how to fix it/whether it's dangerous?
Link to video I made:
https://youtu.be/eDMRxwWCjoI
I also encounter that one, it's the optical image stabilizer having a hardware issue.
However, it went back to normal, and sometimes it happens again when the temperature is humid.
Thanks!

Its normal. Mine did that too. Its because the camera autofocus mechanism snapped out. You can make the same noise by adjusting focus from 0 to 100 very quickly.

As far as I know, people aren't complaining a single thing about the camera.
But first. Have you tried updating your phone?. If you have updated MIUI but the problem still exist, I recommend to do factory reset if you don't mind. However, I can't guarantee this will fix your problem. If the problem still persist, you can claim the warranty so you can get a replacement unit, as your current unit might be faulty.
Happens to me as well.
I just bought mine and I thought it was damaged or something, because I'm facing the dame soundtrack with mine, but I guess is not the case.
