Hey guys I need some help.
My Defy Screen is broken but I have to connect my phone via USB to my pc.
So I need your help to navigate through the Clockwork till I go to USB storage mode(it was something like this)
So you need to tell me which buttons i have to press how many times till I get to extras/advanced and then USB storage mode.

The step that you are opting for is not advisable as you can end bricking your device.
I assume you have to copy files of your device to pc or vice versa. I would suggest doing it the simpler way by removing your sdcard and connect it to your system through a card reader.

My device is already broken and i currently dont have a SDcard converter
Please tell me the steps I know what im doing.

* On blue led volume down (easy part )
* Volume down 4x - confirm with power button
* Volume down 2x - dito
And lets hope that we have the same bootmenu

If you rejoin yourself and try to be more accurate with your's problem description somebody will help.
First: what do you wanna do?
Second: power off your phone. Power on with Vol+ pressed. Boot menu will appear. Connect the usb cable to PC and after to phone. In what way pc reacted?

From this position if you connect the Defy to PC through usb cable you will see a message on the pc saying that it search the drivers. After pc find and install drivers (or you install drivers from forum) start RSD and do the flsh. If you see nothing most probable that usb cable is defective.
Fail - please help me

Dude, I'm having this problem, too...
A friend gave me his Defy to let me repair it - it has the LED Bug (or what its called), so it does nothing. Just giving a white LED, when it has been connected with USB Port... I tried so mich different drivers, USB-Ports and USB-Cables... All Modes that I found I tried and so on, but no chance...
Now I hope to get a important information in this forum...

[Q] Turn on USB debugging with broken screen & digitiser

I have a broken screen and digitiser - I can see nothing at all on the screen and it does not recognise any touch movements.
The phone does appear to turn on and is recognised by my computer.
I want to retrieve all my data - photos, videos etc - from the internal SD card.
Unfortunately I did not have USB debugging enabled when the screen broke.
Is there a solution to achieve thiis?

Connect with usb and copy your files to the pc You don`t need usb for that.
Thanks for your reply Gee but that was, oddly enough, the first thing I tried.
The computer recognises the device as a portable media player and there are no files found in the device.

Maybe my original post wasn't too clear.
I need to retrieve all my data from the S4, and the conventional method of plugging in to my computer via USB does not recognise any data. Would I possibly have to select to mount the card to view? Either way, this is not an option due to the broken screen.
My next thought was to use ADB to transfer over all the content of the internal SD card, however, my S4 is not recognised using ADB (I assume as USB debugging was not enabled when my phone broke?)
So, is it possible to enable USB debugging without use of the screen on this device?

do you have custom recovery on your phone??
No, the phone is entirely stock.
I'm still holding out hope that someone has seen this happen before and knows of a solution for me to retrieve my data?
Can anyone help me with this?

Can I flash customer recovery, though, as I can't see my screen?
You could install ClockworkMod Recovery and use ADB to retrieve your data while it's in recovery. You can put your phone in download mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons till it vibrates. Then press Volume Up to confirm that you want to enter download mode. You should then be able to use Odin to install ClockworkMod Recovery.

you can boot in download mode and flash it without screen. see if odin recognize it
In my opinion if u could turn on usb debugging that would not bring back your lost data. Not really sure though. You could do that by connecting a micro usb to hdmi cable to your tv and then i guess you could use the phone there, not sure if the touchscreen would work though but worth a try..

Thanks - I have flashed CWM via Odin successfully.
I have installed ADB but my device does not get recognised as an ADB device - have I missed something?

be sure that you boot in custom recovery, connect your phone, open cmd in adb folder (shift + right click) and type (no need to enable usb debug):
Code:
adb devices
you must see the serial number (in recovery mode)
Code:
adb pull /sdcard/
use attached adb folder

Because I can't see the phone I'm not sure the state it's in.
Is it just Volume-up + Home + Power to access customer recovery?
I can now see the device in ADB.
When I run the adb pull /sdcard/ command I get an
error: device unauthorised. Please check the confirmation dialog on your device.

hmmm do you read "recovery" in command line after the serial number?
there is a dialog box showed on your broken screen, try to tap on, maybe you will hit confirmation
EDIT: your digitizer is broken!......no way to recognize touch.....

[Q] can't format data

Galaxy y
-Flashed custom rom hyperion 9 2nd time
-Error occurred can't format data in recovery mode
-Also I am not able goto download mode when I try it shows only bootlogo and freezes
-If I start then same
-Also same in adb restart bootloader
bootloader
it shouldnt show boot logo when you put it in download mode
pull the battery
connect your phone via usb cable to pc
press and hold vol down home button then also hold power power button (try it with the battery still removed and with the battery)
you should then be in download mode
if you cant get into download mode by button presses you can try a usb jig
if you still cant get into download mode after that you will have to goto a repair shop
USB jig?
What's that USB jig?

its a usb cable that has been cut and had some resisters placed accross the pins - you can make one yourself or just buy one for about £3 uk pounds from amazon
if you turn the phone off and put the usb jig in the usb socket it puts the phone into download mode without button presses - iv got one
remember if you dont know something google is your friend
can I use adb to reformat data
Can I use adb to format data
I think data is formatted in ext4 but needs ext3
That's problem I can adb shell but can't sug

iv no idea why you would want to do that
if you cant format data in recovery mode just flash stock rom via odin in download mode
if you cant get into download mode theres something wrong with the bootloader and no ammount of formatting data will help you there

Can you get it into battery charging mode ?
If you can get there, KDZ software will switch it to Download Mode when you attempt to flash firmware.
I am not sure as my boot animation is damaged no matter what mode I boot into. The problems began when I flashed a v20 baseband
Sent from my LG-E610 using XDA Free mobile app
radio image which is initialized before kernel is damaged
it doesnt interefere with bl or download mode however
- unplug usb cable.
- remove battery.
- hold vol - pressed.
- while doing so, connect usb cable.
- does it get into download mode ?
or try
- unplug usb cable.
- remove battery.
- hold vol - and + pressed.
- while doing so connect usb cable.
- does it get into download mode ?
let me know if either of those does anything.
If any of those work and kdz flash doesn't fix there's still hope, let me know how it goes, you might need a modified firmware dll aswell.
Good luck
