Gmail Sync - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

I installed the Google Account Sync Services. It'll sync GMAIL just fine, but the notifications bar force closes every time a new email comes through. The bar won't stop force closing and re-opening until I check the GMAIL and mark that message as read (or untick SYNC for Gmail).
Sync is obviously working because it detects the email coming through immediately....however there's something going on with the notifications bar displaying it.
Any fixes for this???????

Yeah it's been posted on here a couple of times, either disable notifications for Gmail through the Kindle Settings menu or install Gmail 4.0.5 from the link below which works with notifications, that's what I did a few weeks back as I didn't like not having them on.
It doesn't have some of the fancy new features of the latest builds but works just fine.

cybertlc,
This is the way Gmail writes to the notification bar, up until version 4.0.5 we were stuck and had to disable Gmail notifications in the Gmail setting. This was a workaround that was fine but we all knew it was a band-aide. We sent a Bug Report to Google and they released a fix in version 4.0.5. Just in case some people are blocked from the Android Drawer site, here is an alternative link: Gmail Version 4.0.5(Dropbox) or Gmail Version 4.0.5(Ubuntu One).
If you have Root, just copy Gmail.apk to /system/app - change the permissions to: User Read Write Group: Read and Others: Read
Reboot and wala, Gmail is now fixed.
Just in case there is a person who does not have Gmail installed we have left a copy of AccountAndSyncSettings.apk here too, just copy both Gmail.apk and AccountAndSyncSettings.apk to /system/app - change the permissions to: User Read Write Group: Read and Others: Read

[Q] Galaxy s4 i9505 gmail not pushing even thought sync is on

Anyone else running into this issue? I've got all auto syncing enabled, yet gmail will not push mails to me. I have to manually open gmail and refresh in order to get new mails. I've tried disabling sync and reenabling. I'm using the gmail app. Nothing special here... haven't even rooted or flashed another rom yet.. maybe that's my problem...
Thanks for any help.
i am having the same issue..when i enable sync , i get mail notifications for some time..then after few hours , i have to open gmail and refresh it to see new mails.

Yeah, I should have mentioned the same. There are times it works right after reenabling and running a 'test' mail.. it's just the important mails that don't come through
Same issue for me. All of a sudden my Gmail app won't push my mail. All sync on
I am also seeing the same.
Not sure if it's co-incidence but this happened after I flashed XXUBMEA and then, to demonstrate, enabled and all the Sammy stuff, including the Samsung Push thing - not a great demonstration (except the facebook apps join, which just kind of white screen sat there).
Incidently, freezing the Sammy bloat stuff removed the absurd lag (which was improved with the XXUBMEA flash).
Next step - remove Gmail from system and re-install.
Edit: Removing Gmail and then re-installing from Google Play worked. Notifications now coming through.
Now to wait for Apex update which will allow the unread count to return to the dock.

gmail no longer auto-syncing (Nougat)

Since the Nougat update, my gmail account no longer auto-syncs or receives pushed messages, even if the gmail app is open when the message should arrive. If I sync manually, I immediately see the pending messages.
Power-saving is not on. I've double-checked the phone's auto-sync toggle and the notification settings for the gmail app and for this particular gmail account, in the app and in the Application Manager. Other devices receive push messages in gmail for the same account. Other apps (such as Google Voice) successfully push messages to the phone, resulting in immediate notification. Doze optimization is turned off for gmail. I tried clearing data and cache for gmail and then reestablishing the account, but that didn't help.
Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
If you haven't tried already, reboot to recovery and wipe cache partition, it's worth a try.
Do you have any apps disabled?

For what it's worth, I'm having the exact same issue on my phone since the Nougat update! It also happens with my AT&T (home) voicemail viewer. I used to get notifications immediately when I got a message at home, now it never tells me unless I open the app.

Thanks for the suggestions. Wiping the cache in recovery didn't help. The only disabled apps are DirecTV and Fullscreen (and no task/power manager apps are in use).
I've noticed that it's not just incoming messages that don't auto-sync; it doesn't auto-sync in the other direction either. If I delete or archive a message in the gmail app, I don't see that change on other devices until I manually sync the gmail app.
As a workaround, Samsung's Email app is auto-syncing properly.
Now I'm seeing the same problem with Samsung's Email app too.
I was able to fix this problem (and also the absence of my phone from the Android Device Manager listings) using some combination of these methods:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/play/X3f4PmL7Zf8
http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...vice-manager-how-fix-devices-not-showing.html
I solved the problem uninstalling all the gmail updates and stopping the autoupdates from the play store. If I use the original version of gmail (first installation on the phone before udates) it syncs perfectly. Hope this can help. And hope samsung and google can solve the problem!
I noticed this issue only goes away when you turn off power saving...
@ Isidrology is right, for the S7 with nougat I went to settings, device maintenance, battery, battery usage, hit the 3 dots in upper right corner, optimize battery usage, change drop down to all apps, and deselect gmail and whatever else you don't want doze messing with your phone. I deselected google opinion rewards as well and 10 minutes later I got a new survey!
Thanks William5, it was well hidden but it seems to work

Thanks! This seems to have solved the problem on my Sprint S7.
In Android 7.0 Nougat Samsung Galaxy S8+, there is no GMail under Device Management-->Battery-->Unmonitored Apps
I have had this phone for 6 months and email only gets refreshed manually. Even when refreshing manually I usually have to do it twice for any email to appear. I have tried every other setting I can find.

Doesn't sync gmail from app gmail

Hello. Please, when i double click in gmail notification in aod, i read email but if i reopen app, the email is yet unreaded. When i delete a email from gmail app, random sync with gmail web page... Is this a known bug??? I repaet, random, not always and i din't understand why... Can anyome help me? Thanks
Nobody uses Gmail???
This is not a problem with the S8 but with Android Nougat. Its also not only Gmail related its all notifications on nougat are broken The best way to get SOME notifications back is to go to settings/apps/hamburger menu/special access/optimize battery usage/ and uncheck EVERYTHING. Next step is to (with root) use the app "Root- Push Notification Fixer" and set intervals to lowest possible settings. You will still not get all of them but at least you will get some of them..
Another fix is to install nova launcher and teslaunread to show bubbles on your icons when you have new notifications for that app. I have mine setup for about 7 apps and I ALWAYS get the bubble hours or days before a notification ever comes in (if they ever do).
In order to fix the issue specifically with gmail I use a different email app. I use aquamail, but there are a few good ones out there. I don't have notification or synching issues. I don't use the email on the phone a lot, a few times a day. I found a great improvement over using gmail.

March update broke gmail sync.

After the update, my gmail app does not sync anymore!
Push does no work.
Puling down in the app does not work either.
Anyone having this problem?
No issues here.
No such issue as well. Thank you.
Not hapenning
No problems here with Gmail sync or push notifications. Maybe clear cache and data from the app, uninstall it, reboot, then install it again to see if it's fixed
Mine works too
Lol one more for no problems after update...
No issues here.
Just got the march update finally.
When i first started the gmail app there was a "getting your messages" loading bar and emails list was empty.
UI in the app was empty of accounts and messages
Eventually after trying to use it, close and start the gmail app, it froze. I chose to kill it from the dialog that came up. When i started the app again it was OK.
Will update if i notice any more issues

Gmail Notifications

If you don't receive notifications at gmail set it as your default email client.
App management -> default apps
I don't know why they decided that by default apps shouldn't be allow to send notifications.
But you can actually just go to Gmail in App Management > Manage Notifications > Allow notifications.
On Global rom notifications are set allowed by default
I have the notifications allowed and I don't receive gmail notifications. There is no email client option in my default app settings... I have the EU device and RMX1931EX_11_A.09 firmware
it looks like removing gmail updates and installing them again has helped

This worked for me, makes this OS a bit more bearable.
Go to the settings in Gmail, select your mail address, select notifications and select all for notifying for all mails. And go to inbox notification and check notify for every message.
If unable to receive, try to uninstall updates from Gmail and check if notification is coming on base version.
I've tried every solution ever written on the internet and none have resolved this issue.
It makes no sense that an essential service like Gmail should be suffering such an issue on a key feature.
I had tried everything, still doent work. Now I'm using outlook but other clients works just fine
I've just installed the latest version of Gmail from apkmirror and notifications have suddenly started working again.
May be worth trying it.

Well if you're still looking for solution, Go to Setting>App Management> Auto launch apps and enable Gmail from the list. Also got enable Background and notification toggles from app info of Gmail.
