Flash videos on MK809 (Justop K9) - Android Stick & Console RockChip based Computers

Did anyone buy the MK809 from the Justop shop? I can't post links, so I'm talking about the first hit of the query "Justop K9" on the UK e-bay.
If so, can anyone confirm that flash videos work perfectly? A video hosted on gorillavid.in for example. I am most interested in it working in full screen. Are the controls as responsive as they would be in a regular computer browser?
If there are any tricks about installing flash on the device, I would be very interested to find out about them. I usually just sideload the flash .apk on my Android phones and it simply works on Firefox. Would there be anything else I would have to do with the device?
Thanks!

Hi,
I have the same one. It came with flash 11.1 installed already. It is pretty good at flash. I haven't tried the site you mention, not at home now to test the stick, but I haven't found anything it couldn't play. I use it almost solely for xbmc through which I can use BBC iPlayer, YouTube etc and stremaing from NAS, full screen and very smooth.
Root it, flash CWM, and flshs a ROM. I am experimenting with a few from freaktab, just need one with working wifi. I would thoroughly recommend this stick. It hasn't slowed down or locked up on me in a month of using it.

That's great to hear. I don't actually have it yet - I was planning on ordering one. I asked because I want to gift it to my parents in order to replace a dying laptop that's currently connected to the TV. Thanks!
EDIT: is the device in fact the second version (MK809 II) or the first one?

Imagio Flash in Opera

Just wanted to let everyone know this worked on my Imagio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
Which device did you choose to get this to work? I just tried it with diamond 2 selected and it appears that it's not working.
I used the diamond 2 turns out it worked or appeared to work for a while then stopped. I ended up uninstalling it. I just got a replacement Imagio due to a dead pixel and i'm going to see if i can get this working. It would be nice to have flash on our phones. It worked on my old diamond.
Works on my Imagio. I am able to watch Youtube with Opera, but not crackle.com or anything else.
What I was really hoping for was getting pandora to work with it. No success yet though.
Can't get it to work. Care to share your setup process?
Alright
Just use pocket Internet Explorer. It already has flash embedded. Check out Skyfire also.
A browser with out flash is stupid. People want full featured ****.
Pandora you might be able to get working with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4093037&postcount=1
IMO skyfire is much better at handling flash.
IE needs tabs
I've been trying to watch megavideo, because megavideo stupidly redirects you, you can only watch the video if you have a Mobile browser with tabs and good flash

HDMI out on web browser? How?

I searched and found nothing on this.
So my HDMI out works on YouTube just fine but I can't get it to work within a web browser to watch movies from projectfree.tv. I think it is because the phone doesn't technically know that I'm watching a video within the browser. I've tried the stock browser as well as dolphin hd.
Is there a setting or way to put the video in a fullscreen mode/program that will support HDMI out? I am talking about streaming video not downloaded.
I am rooted on mikfroyo's latest release if that matters. Flame if you must but help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

maybe if all the HDMI threads, I don't know.... stoppped getting deleted, his search would have turned up more answers.
Sorry, to actually answer your question...
There isn't a way to do this. Yet. Many groups are working on full HDMI Mirroring. Keep an eye on the development forum, as it is likely to come out sooner then later.

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
Way to be an ass.
You can stream movies from certain sites and view them on a TV using HDMI out. The trick is, whatever site you use has to trigger the OEM HTC media player for it work.
mediamp4.com works with HDMI out, and there are several others that work, too.
HDMI pizza development was shut down no worries though , many others are working on making feature available
very alive and well actually.

Grooveshark work around

Has anyone been able to find a way to use the Grooveshark desktop site without getting the "problem loading flash" error? I have read having flash 10.2 installed and using the Dolphin browser set to desktop user agent would work, but so far have had no luck on my Xoom or D1 without getting the error message. Also tried Skyfire and the stock browser with the about:debug trick, no dice. Anyone had any better luck, or other solutions that worked?
Have you tried TinyShark on the market?
Yeah that's what I have been using lately, but I would like to be able to load my playlists and everything from the grooveshark desktop site.
Am i missing something? Why not use the Grooveshark app in the market?

Oh ok, makes sense. I forgot i'm subscribed already.
Tinyshark lets you load your playlists too. The only benefit to the Grooveshark player is the offline cache ability. I tried it for a month and Tinyshark fit my needs just fine without paying $9 a month. When it was $3 a month it may have been worth it but triple the price and I'm out.
I think everyone that has replied has missed the point, I also am wondering if there has been a work around or if anyone is working on it, I think that with a tablet, we should be able to hit the real site and have flash work, why would we need to pay for an app or get an app that is made for small phones when we should be able to just go to the website.
I wish I was smarter with these dev things and I could work on it but I dont have the time to learn.
Hopefully someone that is reads this and wants the same thing, I love gooveshark but being that it is free from my desktop, I am not really wanting to pay for an app....
just my just my .02, thanks
Good luck man, I am hoping the update to the flash player will maybe work, but aside that I have had no luck in getting the desktop site to work on the Xoom and just started using the TinyShark app in the market. Not nearly as nice, but I will take what I can get until someone figures this out.
Flash also reports the client platform/OS, independent of the browser user agent, when connecting to a streaming server. I don't use Grooveshark, so I don't know if this is the reason you get the error, but it's a strong possibility.
Some people have had success with opening a file in Flash (first honeycomb release) in a hex editor and replacing the string "AND" (Android) with "WIN" (Windows). There were also some high jinks to get the change to persist, but a modified APK was made available that seemed to work for some users to access Hulu. I haven't followed it lately, but you could probably find more info searching for "flash for hulu".
EDIT: Here's the link: [MOD] Flash 10.2 Working HULU Updated: 4/29/11
Best case scenario is that someone has put out a modded APK for the current Flash release that also works with Grooveshark. If not, there might be another, less elegant solution.
I'm still debating on which tablet to buy xoom, asus or wait for newer models.
Does the GS app work on the honeycomb? Atrix users was complaining on their forums so that's why I'm asking

any solution to enable Hulu on the Iconia Tab A500?

Hi;
wondering if anyone was able to have Hulu work on A500?
I tried the post in XZoom section and it didnt work... although my A500 is rooted.
here is the OP for Xzoom (also it has many issues even on the Xzoom):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060374
Then I installed the original flash and pushed the modified .so file into data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib and it didn't work... the browsers do not even detect the flash player at all.
any help will be highly appreciated.
thanks
For now, Playon app installed on both PC and Tablet. It has a fee per month. Playon will take you to a hulu backboor to watch hulu shows
2nd option is TV Show Streams, free it is not Hulu but it has A LOT of TV shows many of which is on Hulu and many which are not.
Gents,
There is a "Hulu Patch" for the G-Tablet in their forum.

When I told you the above, I told you
everything I know!!!
Obviously it is for the G-Tab, but I don't
know if the changes needed for Hulu are
the same for both Android tablets or
whether they are brand specific.
I just thought someone who knows what
they are doing might want to check it out.

You can also buy a lifetime subscription. It's now $79.99, but as an early supporter, I got it for $39.99 ! I use it to stream to my PS3 as well, so it's been worth it.
I have had no luck with the Xoom fix. It looks like they are needing to load a custom kernal to get their Hulu fix to work and I 'm not sure I want to try loading that on the A500. If the Xoom guys can figure out why they need that custom kernal then perhaps we'll get a better fix for Hulu.
I also have a g tablet and tried the Hulu fixed flash I use successfully on that tab on the A500 but not luck.
thank you

i will look at the above posts and compare it to what was similarly done on the evo and see what I can come up with. O, the evo it only appeared to work on 10.1
If I get a day off this week I will see what I can do
honestly it's really easy. I don't know why people seem to go through all the trouble of custom kernels and such. Is it a secret? are we trying to hide that we can access hulu so that they won't wise up? It's literally as easy as replacing one file using root explorer and changing the permissions to rxwr--xr--xr. I've used it on my captivate with froyo, then the captivate with gingerbread and now the acer iconia with honeycomb. If you search the forums you should find the file.
i am not sure why a custom kernal would be required other than hardware exceleration which the a500 would not need. It should just take the so file that has been modified to fool hulu into thinking you are on a windows desktop and all should work fine
I also have a modified hulu apk I use. If I have time tomorrow I will check it out
just replace libflashplayer.so!!
I replaced the libflashplayer.so with the one modified for hulu on the Thunderbird and it works just fine. Just do a search in the Forum you'll find it with instructions.
also aside from playon, splashtop is a cheap way to remote into a computer and be able to watch hulu, either way you will have to leave a computer on at home. But splashtop is one time charge of five dollars.
I love it will my htpc and be able to remote and update libraries or predownload a movie

On XDA search and download this file:
Fixed Flash 10.2 for Hulu
Then open your stock browser and do the following:

After this Hulu will work, I have tested it and I now have it on my A500

Alternate option for streaming Hulu on Iconia a500
This is only a suggestion… no disrespect intended to those who are working on helping us find solutions to the Acer Iconia a500.
I am a noob, who was frustrated to learn that Google is blacklisting users who have rooted devices, and I just wanted to have Hulu on my tablet, like I have on my phone. I have found that Splashtop remote from the market will successfully stream Hulu and Netflix for those who are interested.
It is a paid app, but for someone not wanting to root right now, it seems like a good option- so I thought I would put this out there in case anyone else is frustrated with their choices.
Again, No disrespect intended, I just wanted to offer this since the other option I read about on here “PlayOn” does not seem to work, and it is $79.99 verses $9.99.
I made the leap to try Splashtop. I dont mind rooting my machine but it a pain over time and generally just irritation follows. My purpose in thus post is to point out that unless I ended up with. a slow or broken machinr splashtop is far from an exceptable answer. Its slow and super choppy when streaming video, correct me if im wrong and youve seen acceptable connections but id like to save you the $10, the app is cool but not a good solution for this discussion. Additionally to note is its a comole take over of the remote machine, you can't use your tablet while someone else uses teh computer you are remoting to

MK808b / Netflix / corrupt video

Any idea if there is anything I can do about this?
I could describe the problem, but the pictures attached do a better job!!
NB: The Last picture shows the on-screen controls are not corrupted, just the video.
BTW... Netflix support were hopeless..

I had the exact same issue and with trying multiple ROMS, the only one that worked was an old one. It is software-build related.
The build that worked for me was "update_mk808b_400j1401" I found via one of these links that the eBay seller sent me:
1) http://www.mk808.com/MK808/en/Download.html
2) http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/firmware-download/
I used flashing software found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070390
It works great, but not their latest Android Build...
I did have issues trying to find Android Phone software working with this device build, but LANmote is a pretty good solution, and the only one I could get to work. I tried like 4 paid versions of apps for this stick, and this is the only one I got to work... Most services(/servers on the machine?) didn't want to start and/or function with this build.
I was thinking about buying another ROKU, but for 1/2 the price and a full-featured Android PC for half the price of a ROKU, I knew what the better choice was!
("Android phone" remote control "android touchpad" tablet control "use android phone for HTPC stick control" MK808B)
Is this build I referenced working for you?
I got sick of the antiquated interface, and tried a build for 1080p...
Works GREAT, until I was streaming Netflix for a while and the screen just went black.
Maybe I will try a finless ROM.
Hi,
I tried finless 1.7, and it works great! An older version of JB, but that's fine, I can live with that!
Thanks for the help.

I have 2 on the way, should arrive by May 2, and I will let you know how those $4.99 10/100 dongles work...
Some guy in the UK bought them for his, and this looks like the same ones, but I will verify before dropping a link to the adapter, as this is public.
I got the 10/100 dongle and it worked OOTB, after enabling in settings, no config, just plugged it in enabled Ethernet, and it pulled HDCP from Cat5.
Here is a link if anyone wants a wired connection: http://www.ebay.com/itm/350766060467
$4.99
I did have some lag in streaming, but this even happens on Netflix via my Roku sometimes, even with my 50Mbps/25Mbps pipe.
BTW I have been running "Stock plus goodies" from here on XDA, and it has been pretty stable...
a solution

Hi,
I have same problem with netflix. I bought this device only for netflix and youtube (because Samsung Smart TV is a sucks). My device is a android 4.2. I did read here and on others sites about this problema and the solution is install android 4.1. With your links a found this instructions on this link:
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.ph...pc-new-factory-firmware-release/#.Ua4K5EBwrqU
I downloaded the files "update_mk808b_400j1401", drivers and flashing software.
I can't perform these instructions because my PC doesn't recognize the device. I have a Windows 7 x64. I plug my device into my PC and nothing happens. On some posts I did read that is necessary to use Windows XP. Oh god, I don't believe this!
I need a help to solve this problem. Can you post to me a way to install this 4.1 rom on my device, step by step, the way you solved on your device?
I tryed to install a oldest versions of netflix, but the problem did not solved. I like very much that device with a 4.2, I would like to keep this version. Is there a fix of Android 4.2 of MK808B to solve this problem? Do you know?

It's a somewhat complex process, but there are step by step instructions in the readme file included with the finless ROMs. I found that getting the drivers installed was the hardest part. I also found that using the reset switch was easier if I opened the case.
