Xperia ZL notification light changes colour like the Xperia U - Xperia Z General

The Sony Xperia ZL has a notification light, which Sony has emphasised in some of the press photos that were released. Whilst the notification light is quite small, it has a nifty LED that actually changes colour depending on what content is showing on screen. It works in a very similar way to the Xperia U, but as the Xperia ZL light is so small, the effect is much more subtle. Nonetheless it is a nice effect and you can see it in action in the video below.
Video!! Here

This is old news... But would have been great if it were alot bigger. It's like a dot on the video which is barely noticeable

I hope it should be a LED and not a torch light!

It is much more noticeable than in the video. Brighter and larger.

I've made a own movie where I show the notification LED of the Xperia ZL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvIcddadEnk

I know we have a smaller led but would it be possible to port this to the z

I like the Sony soundtrack you used (anyone knows the name of the song?) and I'd like to have seen this led notification on the Z as well. Maybe Honami will have something similar.

Awesome app.

I love this app. Although I have issues with the upload and download portion. Just one question/suggestion for the developers. Can u make a version/ option to invert the colors. I've been messing with the gmail app that has black background and im pretty fond of it... plus I hear dark colours significantly reduce battery drain on samoled

Had no idea what you were talking about until I saw the signature.
Yeah, black background would be nice. Blacks on AMOLEDs are basically just the pixels shut off, whereas with LCD the backlight continues to eat energy regardless of whether most of the screen is dark.

Under settings just change the display style to dark. My xda app has the background black w/ white text.

Just changed it. Pretty cool. But u see what I mean... this is the best app ever thx.

Just an FYI XDA doesn't develop this app, Tapatalk does. They have the same app for hundereds of forums. The forum admin installs a plugin on the server to allow Tapatalk to work, and then they can skin a version of Tapatalk to go with it.
If you have requests for UI/Usefullness you should probably look them up, not XDA.

Anything Missing?

Ok I know not everyone will have come from the X10 but even if you haven't is there something missing on the ARC that we could do with?
I for one am missing my web thumbnail's widget.
(if anyone wants to point me in the direction of one)
Face recognition
Actually I only realised it first have face recognition yesterday and although I never used it all that much I still think it would have been a nice to have.

The only thing I miss about the X10 is the LED being on the front of the phone instead of on the side.
There's no comparison, none at all.
For grabbing your attention no, so in regards to notifications that definitely a down point.
Stlye wise its nicer but I prefer the function of it oget how pretty it look's.

Missing from the Arc IMO - NFC, inductive charging, bigger battery.
None of them are likely to be deal breakers for anyone though.

Xoom Status Bar Brightness?

Hi folks - My Dad - all 75 years of techno geek in him - just got a Xoom.
He loves Android (on his EVO & trying to learn the Xoom) but his eyes can't seem to see the status bar down @ the bottom clearly.
It looks dim. Is there way to adjust the brightness for the status bar (particularly the lower right one)?
Thanks.
I don't think there is. It just uses the standard screen brightness setting so its the full screen or nothing I think.

Thanks for the input.
From the lack of responses, I tend to think this isn't a huge issue for people. LOL!
We did adjust the brightness for the screen & it didn't seem to make much of an incremental difference.
Try one of the themes that brighten it up.
Touchwiz is brighter, I'm sure the red theme is brighter as well.

Hmmm...will look for it. Thanks for the idea.
If you're going to use a theme, you will have to convince him to let you root his XOOM.
If you want to go that route and don't feel like installing a completely new theme, I can make a brighter version of the stock control buttons for you. The clock font brightness is not editable at this time since hnytool hasn't been updated for 3.2, however.
As far as colors go, green is easiest and brightest seen by the human eye. Try the green theme.

What users want in the upcoming upgrade Android 4.0

-Music control and weather conditions in the lock screen.
-A special made live wallpaper for the XPERIA range.
-A widget for the time and weather at the same time.
Please guys feel free to add your wishes and requests.
Sent from my LT15i using xda.
-dedicated video player that plays most formats
-power toggles in the notification bar
-the ability to choose how many home screens
-more free ram
When my phone rings from a call, and i connect the hands-free plug so i can listen better, the goddamn phone hangs and denies the call!!! And i gotta wait for the person to call me again... wtf!! Im expecting the phone not hanging the call and let me use my connected accesories as i please...
Even my ooold nokia 5800 could easily do that, and my xperia arc can't? wth..
Also, i'd like more desktops, with the stock rom [so please dont start suggesting mods and the like], 5 desktops are not enough.
Camera button to control music when the screen is off.
The percentage of the battery inside the battery icon in the notification bar.
Independent battery widget.
Removing the Sony Ericsson synchronise service since it's no longer useable.

Holding volume rocker while screen off switches music tracks.
Both skinned and unskinned release.

But surely that's the point of having an Android phone. The manufacturer supplies a base spec then the user can add to it with apps and modifications.
What about XDA premium you posted from, surely that's bought and installed?
Music control in the lock screen works really well with Poweramp.
Keith
Lol dude all the companies provide that for their users beside I love the Sony Ericsson player and I hate AMP , one more thing I don't buy applications I always get it all for free like the xda here.

Accordingly to a a thread opened on Xperia Neo (V)/ Pro SE forum, a QuickDial (T9 entry for contacts parsing, "Sense contacts-Like") feature will be implemented in ICS upgrade. So ARC will benefit too.
Beside that, an overall improved calendar widget and app could be a plus. Moxier is not a big deal, easily removable, but will be even more useless under ICS.

Why do you post a new thread, if there already is a similar thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348978
fix all the fails , lose signal , reboot , etc , and more fast .
- speed dial (like HTC's)
- scrolling notification toggles in the status bar
- music controls in the lock screen
I'm not asking the moon i think

You should start buying the apps you use to support development.
And Android is all about apps.
You can customise your phone to the fullest by finding the right apps for you.
SE and all other companies provide the minimal amount of apps to keep the phone running, the rest is up to you.
You can't expect from a firmware to include apps tailored to your needs because simply your needs are not the general rule.
Lower jpeg-compression and higher bitrate for videos!!!
And maybe a more flexible/adjustable lockscreen!

White Theme of Phone and Messaging Applications

I recently upgraded from Xperia S to Xperia Z. Frankly I like everything about Xperia Z except the white theme of Phone & Messaging applications. I miss the black theme found in Xperia S. In fact this is the only thing I HATE about Xperia Z. Don't understand why Sony changed it? At least they should give an option to change the theme if the user want.
Apart from it I found Xperia Z to be better on every aspect except Wi-Fi signal which is better in Xperia S. Xperia Z drops Wifi signals frequently at places where Xperia S has no problem.
Please post your views whether you like Black or White theme for Phone and Messaging applications.
What firmware do you have? I'm experiencing Wi-fi signal drops when I'm far from the router, had no problem with an Galaxy S2
The idea is:
Productive apps -> White
Fun apps -> Black

I own an S and to be honest I prefer the look of the white apps on the Z, at least from what I've seen in screenshots. Not sure how they look in person though - white apps on a screen that isn't full brightness don't look as good in my opinion.

Hi I'm not sure if this is correct forum but is there anyway to get transparent dialler and contacts on the z, without root. I love the phone but preferred the look of x10i I think it was. Apologies if I'm in wrong place. Thanks in advance

White for me as well. Looks clean and modern. With Sony's holo-blue additions, it looks just great.

It's a matter of taste, but actually I like the black one too. The only solution without rooting is to search for a 3rd party app.
