[Q] any difference between so called "international" defy and regular defy on amazon
Seems like a sales gimmick to me. I'm heading to China soon and am looking at getting another one.
Thanks
Update I found a photo and apparently they include a European plug adapter with it.

International maybe means that they have a standard micro USB .

Spare Battery - UK

Has anyone come across a UK or European supply for spare batteries?
I do a bit of geocaching so a spare battery always comes in handy.
I have not found any suppliers in the UK selling the battery yet. Even though Defy has a good battery life I still like to carry a spare battery with me as well.
I'm also after a spare battery, always useful to have.
I've raised a support request with Motorola UK asking them where / when they will be available. They should be available in their own online store at least.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the popularity of the DEFY might be taking them by surprise.
I did a little bit of research lastnight and the only official accessories is available for Motorola Defy is the battery door/cover going for $9.99.

It appears the battery door is sold by amazon (at checkout time) but when I visited amazon.com (US) I could not find it. Nonetheless, this is rather a good news that it is possible to replace the battery door in case it wears off or damaged.
doesn't any other motorola phone use the same battery?
the milestone 2 uses a 1540mah battery, can anyone confirm whether they are the same.

The Bravo uses the same battery but that is a US only device.
Defy Batteries availalble in UK
Aftermarket batteries have shown up now. Anyone got any experience with any of these companies?

I am thinking best to wait for a Moto official battery.
I would prefer an official Motorola one, but if nothing is forthcoming in the next couple of weeks I'll buy a 3rd party battery.
Northing back from my Motorola support request as of yet.
I have just ordered this one.
Lets see how it works.
Defy battery now available on the motorola site $40 just seen it.
Well, i just recieved to emails: One with the notification "payment recieved" and the other a little bit later from paypal, saying that my payment has been paid back - my order is canceled.
I dont think those shops got any Defy Batteries stock.
Well, got a couple of garbled emails back from Motorola - god I hope I don't need any real support with this phone
One email in broken English suggested to contact expansys, who don't yet list the BF5X (in fact, they misleadingly list the MILESTONE battery as an accessory for the DEFY, when in fact it is physically the wrong shape).
The next email that arrived a day later told me they would be in touch when they knew where and when they would be selling any batteries!
It's quite funny but I also pointed out that their sites for online registration don't list the DEFY in the models dropdown. So they directed me to another Moto UK site that doesn't list the DEFY!
I've found this place in the US that have them in stock, take PayPal and ship internationally:
http://www.thinkmotorolabravo.com/motorola-bravo-battery-oem-13558.html
So have ordered one as I can't be arsed waiting for Motorola UK to work out where they are and what they're doing.
Any news on actually avaible third party spare batterys?
13 USD for 2 batteries =) + Charger and Micro USB Cable

Not so much looking for a spare battery as much as an higher capacity battery. Any word on something like that?
Just been browsing ebay UK & found the following - 3.7v 1800mah. Can't post a link due to being a newbie but it's on ebay.co .uk & the item number is 200569859076.
Is very cheap in price so I'm wondering what it would be like in reality - too cheap to be any good?

Dock for Defy+ ?

Hi,
I can't find one, do you know one please ?
Thanks.
Edit : I found this one, it looks awesome : http://shop.brando.com/motorola-motodev-defy-mb525-2nd-battery-usb-cradle_p5800c199d5.html
If you know a better one, please post reply
You can make a DIY dock. You need a small magnet(not very powerful) and some creativity
Place a magnet near the usb port. The phone automatically switches to car dock(or the clock dock). If you reverse the magnet polarity(turn it over) it would show the clock dock(or car dock). The dock to be displayed depends on the polarity. If you make a small dock and place the magnet such a way that the usb port comes close it will work fine
Sent from my MB526 using XDA
I bought this (without 2nd accu loader), it's perfect! There were 2 cables included: power only & usb
I bought a Philips AS111 , it has a powerful speaker and a display for clock, it works very well with the defy, only problem is that it's a little difficult to insert the phone on the micro-usb connector (maybe it's because is recessed for protection on defy)
I have made a dock for myself using a low power magnet...
but need a dock with inbuilt USB...
is this dock available in India? :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

I have built one from LEGO with magnet and there is also place to use it with USB cable connected
It's working fine, and it was free
Using the 'Brando' style. There is a recess where you can put a magnet (if you can find or cut one that fits), but I just use the short cut for the desk dock mode.
Is it safe to ship this device to India?
Hi Guys,
the device mentioned which is sold by Brando.com is very good. the finish and the overall quality looks good. And for <$25 I think it is a bargain.
The only problem is I have to ship this product to India from US of A. I have no problem paying the money through some required credit cards ets... the thing is I am not comfortable with ordering things from outside the country (if some delivery issues happen I could just ring a call to the shop if shop is in india but I do not know about the response I would get from this order).
Is it safe to buy it from brando.com to india???

Motorola MB525 Defy 2nd Battery Cradle
KiDiGi usb Cradle for Motorola MB525 Defy
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KiDiGi-NEW-...Accessories&hash=item4aab2947b1#ht_3093wt_952
Well, I've got this KiDiGi dock and for the most part it's OK. It charges the second battery and the phone when slotted in.
However, recently I've had a few issues. As it's mounted on it's side it stays like that but things activate themselves, change settings and do all sorts of stuff as if I'm randomly pressing buttons. Not sure why, but it's only plugged into power to charge and as such it now means I can't do anything with the Defy whilst it's in the dock.

[Q] Which Defy is it?

I just ordered a Motorola Defy from Walmart and will be using Straight Talk. It won't be here until Tues. but I'm wanting to order accessories now, too. The problem is that there are apparently differant Defys. The Walmart ad just calls it the Motorola Defy. No where does it call it the XT, but in the model no. there is an XT. The complete model no. is STMTXT555CPWP . The straight talk website has a Defy XT, but doesn't list a model no. I thought I was ordering the Defy XT, now I'm not so sure it's not just the Defy. The local U.S. Cellular store has a Defy, but it has only a 3 something megapixel camera and the one I ordered has 5. And I think that there were other things differant about it. I've been looking on Amazon and it seems there are differant sizes of Defys. I've also heard of a Defy mini and a Defy pro?- can't remember for sure. I think that the car chargers and stuff are all interchangeable- between the Defy and Defy XT anyway- correct me if I'm wrong.... but I need to know which one I have for sure to get the right size cover, case and mobile dock. They list stuff for the Defy, the Defy XT, the Defy MB525, the XT556 and XT557, but I see nothing about XT555 which is in my model no.
I watched a review that said this phone has Gorilla glass and the one in U.S. Cellular didn't have it and now as I look back over the specs, it doesn't say it does, in either the Walmart ad or the Straight Talk ad. So I'm really disappointed 'cause I was really wanting that. Is there a differant one that has that? I feel screwed already!
I would also like to order at least one spare brand new battery, but want to make sure I get the right one(s). And I want to make sure I get a brand new one and not one used but recharged like some of the reviewers accused on Amazon.
I'm getting confused already!

DZ Successor - my experience

Hello guys. I was using DZ for a long time (jul 2011 - dec 2012) and got it replaced by a "standard" phone without keyboard - Xperia Ion. After almost a year of suffering without hardware keyboard I recently imported Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G (SGH-T699) from USA.
My experience:
1) you can import Galaxy S Relay 4G to Europe without no problem, it runs on GSM/HSDPA networks and has a SIM card slot (Important!)
2) I bought it via ebay.com, in used state but with real pictures of the device and in perfect state. The costs were $125 for the phone + $39 international priority shipping + cca $35 import charges (customs and VAT - 20% in Slovakia).
3) The import charges were charged with the payment and I didn't even know about the customs process, the courier just brought me the phone. That's a plus for ebay when importing from outside EU.
4) The phone was unfortunately locked (even if the seller stated it as unlocked). But after downgrade to ICS it can be unlocked in few minutes.
5) The US charger is no use in Europe, but you can charge it with any other charger, I'm using 1500mA charger from Sony now or 1000mA from HTC. Or you can even use the original charger with travel adapter, but it's uncomfortable, your choice however.
6) The stock firmware is bloated, half of the apps installed are called "T-mobile something" If you like Samsung android environment, you can debloat it manually after rooting, but I suppose most of xda guys will flash CM11 - it's now pretty stable even in experimental state. Honestly, I've been using much more unstable roms as dd...
7) The stock rom has only few languages (en, de, es, fr), but custom roms have full list of languages.
I was considering also Moto Photon Q, but it lacks sim card slot. It can be done, there's a step by step guide on xda to solder a sim card slot. Even the guy from Prague (author of the guide) could do it personally. But I chose the easier way and got the Samsung S Relay. There are no other GSM qwerty android phones usable in Europe.
To moderators: I saw a similar thread that was closed as not related to Desire Z. I must disagree, a DZ successor is a DZ related thread, as the device is pretty old and most of owners are looking for a decent successor. Just wanted to share my personal experience. If you wish, you can move this post to the closed thread, I wouldn't mind But please, don't delete it, in my opinion it contains useful information that definitely has to be found in DZ section. thanks
I also imported one. 180 $ + import tax (new one).
The default rom is pretty decent compared to htc sense, cm10 is much faster than on the desire Z (multitask 10-15 apps: no problem).
The keyboard isn't that good as the one from the desire Z, but you have to get used to it. I have 22Mb as max speed at home (10Mb desire Z) on 3G+.
Looks good and price is good. Was this the only keyboarded Android you looked at or are there other comparable?

I was considering Motorola Photon Q (without SIM card slot, count plus 50 euro and 2x postage to CZ). This model is the only one suitable with SIM card and support for European networks.
In the meantime LG F3Q was announced. Look at the specs http://www.phonearena.com/phones/LG-Optimus-F3Q_id8243
Maybe it's also worth considering, but I don't like it very much at first look, but it has 2460mAh battery. I'm not sure about the SIM card slot, but as it's on TM USA, it should have defnitely one.

I am still dreaming of a flagship android with hardware keyboard... the LG looks fine, but 1Gb of ram in 2014 is too little. The biggest limitation of the DZ is by far its ~360Mb of ram...
for me,i have imported Huawei U8730,better CPU/GPU,better RAM and bigger screen than HTC DZ

Do all Yotphone 2 have Qi?

Hey proud Yotaphone 2 owners,
Can you confirm that all Yotaphone 2 models available have Qi? I want to get a new one and struggle between S6edge and Yotaphone 2. Qi is a deciding factor for me, since I have Qi stuff everywhere and don't want to miss it. What confuses me is that on some websites Qi is shown as feature and on some not. Also in the two reviews I read, there was no mention about wireless charging...
Thanks,
Daniel.
Yes all have qi charging. Just taken mine off wireless charge this moment.
Only just bought the charger too but decided to sell the phone as even though its nice I have no use for the back screen whatsoever even though I have tried to find a use lol.

:good: Thanks for the quick reply mate, sounds good. I think I would use the back screen mainly for checking the time and for Kindle. Just a phone without Qi turned into a no-go for me. Well, I will give it a try then. Is much cheaper than the S6 edge and as long as the regular Android updates work it should be fine.
Well mine had 2 updates out of the box but still on 5.0. Mine is the Yd201 international version. You can buy mine if in the UK lol

I use the back screen mainly for ebook reading and I find the always on screen a big bonus when at work. Checking for messages / time / weather etc. doesn't require me to do anything but look at the phone that is lying on my desk. No phone to grab or buttons to push.
The latest RU firmware update is Lollipop and I doubt if we will ever see Marshmallow. But on the plus site, the latest Android security update is from september 2016. That is something you don't see much on Lollipop phones.
If you buy a chinese yd206 yotaphone there will be no firmware updates and it uses different but overlapping LTE bands. Unless you try to flash it to Yd201 which can be tricky. But it's cheaper!
But I ordered a cheap qi charger too, there's a quick charging LG wireless charger coming out out soon.
One thing that amazed me was you can buy a wireless qi powerbank too for the yotaphone (and other qi phones).

Thanks, that would have been my next questions and you anticipated it I saw that some shops sell the YD206 version for a few € less than the YD201. I will just make sure to get the YD201 then. Better be supported than having to tweak around all the time with a model made for the Chinese market...
The worst thing about the Chinese yd206 model is the lack of Google apps because Google is banned in China, but many stores do patch the software to add Google . I guess that the HK ROM already has Google apps but I don't know.
Most, if not all Asian countries use the same 4G bands as China. In some countries, notably USA, 4G does not work at all on Yotaphone, but best to have a second opinion on that, maybe only yd206.
Most people here have attempted to flash their yd206s to international ROMs. But there can be problems, you don't want to brick a brand new phone.
I expected mine to arrive at my house today, package tracking has gone eerily quiet. On Friday it was at the airport post office a few miles away. It's driving me a bit mad waiting for it.

You can upgrade nearby all smartphones with QI charging. Just need to add an QI receiver
