It really depends on North American availability, which has been a consistent problem for Sony. (They know this and are working on it.)
I have a great dislike for grey market imports... If I can't get it in my country with manufacturer warranty for hardware defects, I'm far less likely to purchase it.
Unfortunately, the pattern has been that in the USA, you only have three choices:
1) Carrier-mangled version with locked bootloader that cannot be unlocked
2) Previous-generation device (unlockable TL units are just becoming available now...)
3) Grey market import
If Sony sorts out their North American supply chain and the Z is available in this country in a timely fashion without going through AT&T - I will definitely be getting it. If it's the same story as the TL was... Maybe, not sure.

Maybe all XPERIA's DEVs join in

Personally for me i will be looking for codeworxz & fraco to help with the development of the xperia Z, codeworxz has the ability to make cm roms with little to none sources as possible, while on the other hand francos kernels are stable as hell and are a good replacement to the stock kernel

Apparently no one here can spell codeworkx properly :/

man, we just hope that you buy it.. We need you too man! Sony should gift one!

If codeworkx, entropy and gokhanmoral get this phone then this is the phone for me. They saved the s2 development when Samsung did everything to kill it. If sony helps developers to bring nexus like experience to this phone then this device is a winner with top notch specs and build quality plus great custom ROM support.

And I talked to DooMLoRD, he won't buy it with release, because he already has some other devices.
So maybe you can edit your first post to:

Also I must admit - if AT&T gets the non-waterproof ZL I REALLY hope that the waterproof Z is sold in this country directly.

Playstation Suite

Anyone following the Sony liveblog from Engadget? I really recommend you guys check it out, as there are some things being announced which are going to impact Android in amazing ways.
http://www.engadget.com/liveblog/live-from-sonys-tokyo-event/
Update: Basically, Sony just dropped a bombshell that brought an amazing amount of games to Android, obviously to compete against both Windows Phone 7 having Xbox integration and against Apple's formidable App Store. How, UNLIKE Sony to be thinking ahead.

I'm sure we will get it, 2 years from now when the 2.3 update comes out... :/
This has the potential to be enormous for Android, and for handheld gaming in general. The only concerns I have are:
1) The number of handsets that will have access, and if Cyanogenmod will count among them.
2) Piracy. As rampant as it was on the PSP and NDS (and yes, it was rampant), there is no doubt pressure within SCEA to take more advanced measures in combatting it. Android isn't the most securable platform at the moment (see: Netflix), and though I too am weak to 'unlimited' trial periods on games (hah), for this to really drive Android, it NEEDS to be profitable.
Hopefully the cost of games will be more in line with existing digital downloads than with past off-the-shelf prices.
I think it's great the Sony is supporting Android to such a degree. But, the PSX emulator is already out in the market. It's been out for quite some time now. Some of the roms don't work though. Hopefully, with official Sony support, all of the roms will work.
I would buy an official psx emu straigh from sony than anyone made by a third party (I don't mean offense, I have the emulator and enjoy), even though I paid for one already. I'd even buy the games straight from the sony store if they're priced good enough

I haven't the skills to do it but there must be someone who can and will do it.

the point that @darni was making was that the samsung going on sale will NOT affect the dev population coming to the Arc... in fact now that Paul O'Brien is working on this I expect that there'll be even more interest.. we'll have working camera then this is great!
Back in the spring of earlier this year, Sony Ericsson announced and released the option to unlock the boot loader for 2011 Xperia™ phones. We then moved on to explain how to build your own Linux kernel. As a third step, we have now supported the FreeXperia group. The reason for this is that we firmly believe in the openness of Android™, and we are really impressed by the huge activity shown in our products. By being supportive and open, we hope to both learn from the open community, and also share knowledge when that is possible.

Better late than never I guess, and maybe if S.E had paid attention to the "activity" when the FreeXperia group got started on the X10 the Xperia range would have been a lot more desirable to those who love to mod.
If all the manufacturers don't pay attention to what goes on at XDA development wise, more fool them, as the devs here continue to show up those that actually get paid to do it for a living.

What's the price of the G3?

I am thinking about selling the galaxy 3 and I was wondering how much money I could get for it? It's untouched, unlocked and with a new battery, and I would install the stock froyo on it. In euros would be easier for me.
Just check on ebay but i think it's pretty worthless. Maybe £25 if you're really lucky so i think you should just keep it and wait for JB
Click thanks if I helped.
In it's last days the g3 was priced at Rs.9,000 (~150-160$) Now it would be absolutely worthless and I doubt there would be any customer to buy it. I am using it as an autofocus webcam nowadays

A Recognized Contributor Leaving the Xperia Play

Hey guys i will be leaving the xperia play section tommorow/next day
I have just ordered a brand new LG G2 32GB in Black and it should be here tommorow.
I registered on XDA in 2011 on my birthday 20th novermber... I have had the xperia play since that day and now its time to move on. TO THE AWESOME LG G2 !!!
It's been great here in the xperia play section and i hope to see some of you in the LG G2 section
Thanks for all your support.
Bye guys.
PS Any one wanna buy a Xperia Play? Mint condition - UK Only!
We are sad to see you go but completely understand. The LG G2 is a sweet device. I am sure you will love it. Best of luck and thank you for everything you have done for the Xperia PLAY forum.
Thank you for your efforts dude, you deserve to be a Recognized Contributor, wish the best for you.
Your birthday is same as mine, 20th November 0___0 . Anyway, I am going to miss you, even though I don't know about you much. Good bye and I am pretty sure everyone here on this Xperia Play Section gonna miss you too. Farewell and take care dude.

Not sure yet, We will see. Might continue it on the LG G2 and Xperia Play (decided to get lg g2 over nexus 5) or i might open source it (code is messy be warned) and let others deal with it
I am hoping to get around £70 or a little more with a samsung class 6 16gb micro sd card, but offers are welcome (paypal is preffered payment method)
I still have the box, and it has had a case on all this time, barely any marks only slight wear on the gamepad part where the phone slides. and a few light marks on the sides, i will include case, charger plug (with a usb cable but its a bit dodgy, most people should have a micro usb cable by now though), Screen is mint condition. The only thing it won't include is the stock ear phones (or any) as i broke the stock sony earphones.
According to my research £70 is a average price. I also have 2 apk's from gameloft for 9mm and moderncombat (can't remember which number)
Any questions please ask, Contact me here or on my live chat on my kitchen Additionaly pm me skype and i will chat on there (no headset though it broke.)
oh and i will install any ROM that is on my kitchen before selling , Currently running super jelly bean 7.0 with lupus multiboot v8.
Oh and its factory unlocked to all networks, and is a unbranded model. and official bootloader unlock method was used.
i would upload pictures but i have no decent camera, I use my xperia play as a camera and obviously i can't use that to take pictures of the xperia play, LOL, in 2 days i will have my G2 and i can upload pictures then.
Oh and its the black r800i model. GSM!

Yeah although i never really developed anything for the actual xperia play i did develop various tools for use with the xperia play
The g2 was only £50 more than the nexus 5 and it has better battery and a ton of features, and is in stock! also although no official android 4.4 as of yet it will hopefully get it eventually, if not then thats what XDA is for.
