Betting on the right horse is a blast. - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Had some idle time, went to a local electronics shop.
Browsed through the mega offering of tablets.
Left utterly convinced that the 7.7 still is heaps ahead of anything offered there.
...hadn't swiped the stupid grin out of my face, after arriving home, when I stumbled upon this:

I like my 7.7 better than my nexus 7. You wouldn't think. 7 inches would make much of a difference but it does.

I don't necessarily love that.
....It's just that Samsung is clearly the front innovator here.
As soon as they step up product manufacturing quality and get their commercial vector to focus, they will be on their way to absolute "portable communications + media devices" market dominance (...they may need to get someone new to achieve that focus...).
Myself, I am thinking about this:

Flexible is one thing but can a crease be made in the display by accidentally folding it?

My wifi 7.7 finally came in yesterday. Thing is leaps and bounds over the Nexus 7 I had. Screen is absolutely superb and the speakers are great. Best part is I dont have to worry about it falling apart in my hand like that dam Nexus. When I got it out of the box it was on HC but immediately flashed up a message for the jump to ICS. Im really surprised how smooth it runs on ICS. Ive tweaked it to my liking and disabled some of the crap. But all in all im extremely pleased with it.

Considering my N7 was 250 and my 7.7 was only 270 through Verizon with mobile data for $10 a month with no contract plus a way better screen, better build quality, and looks way better totally worth it. Tegra 3 isn't all that. I don't mind the lack of development so much but I really wish samsung would support this like it really should. There are tabs still being released as new with similar hardware specs and have jelly bean and will still get updated. This tab really shouldn't of had HC out of the box when it was released IMO.

In 11 days I will have owned this for 1 year and I am blown away that there is not yet a tablet I would prefer over this one. The Note 8 would be nice, but without the AMOLED screen, I still prefer the 7.7.

So while we reported yesterday that the Samsung Galaxy S II won’t be heading to Verizon, the silver lining comes in the fact that the three other major wireless carriers will indeed be getting their own models. So, the big question regarding whether or not Samsung would take the previous path in releasing these new models, in creating different looking devices for each carrier has been the question since the beginning. Thanks to Pocketnow, we can finally say that we (may) know what the handsets will look like.
There isn’t a lot of information going around here. In fact, where the above image came from is anyone’s guess. And because of that, we may want to take the above leak with the normal amount of salt on hand. We’re not sure if these are the final devices for each carrier, but we imagine that it’s certainly possible. So stay tuned, as Samsung’s event is just around the corner and we’ll have all the details we could ever want (hopefully).

Sprint usually keeps the premium phones around the $199 mark, so I wouldn't expect this to be any different. No price has been announced, but I would expect that price point, but certainly nothing higher than $249.
Me personally, I'm waiting for details on the Nexus Prime to do anything. By then, the Epic will have GB and other goodies to go with it, and the SGS2 will already have ROMs etc associated with it. I have to rely on my phone quite a bit for business, so I'm not too eager to be an early adopter. I want to ensure all the small kinks and quirks with the SGS2 are worked out before I jump on it.
Nice to see confirmation of the design in the previously-shown pic that we assumed was Sprint. Looks like a solid design. I'm going to have a real problem deciding between this and waiting for a Sprint Nexus Prime variant.
Also, thanks for citing your source instead of merely ripping off an entire article as your own.
When the SGS1 EPIC came out it was $249 and then after the 2011 the price dropped. I hope they start out at $199 cause im just gonna add a 3rd line to my account to buy the SGS2 and give my son a phone! My wife will be taking my EPIC...

Samsung Galaxy S III - All Updates

On 23 April, Samsung begun a countdown for the next galaxy with an anagram.

Yesterday, the countdown finally stopped and a teaser for the upcoming galaxy was posted.
SUMMARY OF VIDEO ACCORDING TO ME----
The video begins in the wilderness showing a distant city, all lit up in the night. The camera then zooms into outer space along with text that reads ‘Where a galaxy fits perfectly into your hand’. This is a subtle hint that the phone won’t be as massive as the Galaxy Note or possibly, the Galaxy Nexus. I have a feeling Samsung may just stick to the 4.3-inch screen but with a much higher resolution. This makes perfect sense and I hope they do that.
The camera then pans out across different galaxies along with another line, ‘Your view of the world grows even wider’. This could hint at the aspect ratio of the new phone. Any Other Guess! Anyone.
Then, it goes deeper into the universe and text appears, "AS YOU GAIN THE POWER TO EXPLORE IT FREELY & SWIFTLY', this time i'm cluelss.
Here comes the funniest part, the iSheeps, which shows a herd of sheep and the line, ‘…everyone else’.
The video ends with the Samsung logo and those very same blobs of metallic paint we saw in the invite. This definitely hints to the type of material used in the chassis of the S III or if not, at least the colours it will be available in. Sadly, at this moment, we don’t have any real clue about the phone itself and looking at how Samsung is hyping their next-gen Galaxy phone, I really doubt those leaked pictures are the real deal.
It appears as if Samsung is trying to throw us off the track here into thinking that the GT-I9300 is indeed the S III, which it isn’t (at least, that’s what we hope). Only a few days are left for Samsung’s Mobile Unpacked 2012 event which will take place on May 3, so see you then.
So we let us suprise. Wow !!

I voted "don't know" it depends on a number of factors, it will have to beat the SGSII in every department for it to outsell it, price too will be a factor, many countries are in deep recession and many people cannot afford the luxury of shelling out big money on a smartphone so i hope Samsung don't vastly overcharge, €599 is far too much this is the figure that was given on the Amazon German website

Bro Im using samsung galaxy s3 i9300 how do i enable bln control from play store app?

Not really loving it...

Well, been using my GS3 for about 4 days now and I must say that I am somewhat underwhelmed by it so far. The jump between my EVO to the Epic 4G Touch was much greater than that from the E4GT to the GS3 (as expected). However, there are 3 gripes that I just bothering me more than I initially thought they would:
1. Camera - The Epic 4G Touch's picture quality is light-years ahead than that of the GS3. This is really unacceptable for a flagship device. Sure, the shutter speed is quite fast, but the quality is just not there. Part of the reason I skipped over the Galaxy Nexus was the camera inferiority to the E4GT and here I am with the GS3. The HTC EVO LTE at the store seemed to take amazing pictures. Haven't compared them side-by-side, but I feel I'll be more disappointed if I do.
2. The power button - I don't see a lot of people complaining about this, but I'm having a difficult time adjusting to the power button. The curved bezel in conjunction with the flushness of the button makes it hard to find/press it most of the time. Even though it feels quite clickable, it takes some digging around every time I need to use it. I'm hoping that the Slim Case I ordered will help with this as the cutouts will guide me better. It's a small gripe, I know, but it's enough to annoy me.
3. Speed - I know that this phone will smoke most of the competition, including the E4GT, but I'm not really blown-away by it. Once the apps are opened (which I admit to being quite fast), it seems to take longer for the information to download and appear (Play Store, Facebook, etc). I don't know if it's the connection or the phone itself. Never had this issue with the previous phone.
That's about it really. I know it's nothing major, but it's enough to taint my experiences. I'll give it another week before I decide what to do with it. But I'm really leaning towards the HTC EVO LTE (even though I find it hideous) or just going with a Galaxy Nexus (and not have to worry about future upgrades, etc).
Sorry about the rant... just had to let it out.
Speed -
You don't feel smoothness , and fast information because android
The problem is not the device , its the software
Android is still "buggy" , i have Asus Prime Tegra 3 -and i dont feel smoothness
Maybe next android version will be more smoother and faster
Just return it and stop complaining

The power button on mine is not quite right too, it is less flushed against the bezel compared to the volume rocker and creaks at the touch, it also feels spongy when pushed. That's not enough to slate the phone though because I know the capabilities of this beast hence I'm waiting for my exchange. If yours is the same ill advise you to do the same.

You're using the Sprint version right? If so, why are you posting in the international GT-I9300 forum?
Plus, it's already been quoted in several reviews that the US versions have a slight lag during usage that the international version does not. Just return the phone and move on.
@Stea1thmode: Thanks bud! Will do!
@everyone else: Take your meds and learn to deal with criticism.
This phone was really smooth for me. Bur my major problem is not being able to get into download mode.
The screen is also mediocre. =/ Wondering if I should have bought LG Optimus 4x instead, I only picked this phone for the custom firmwares..
There's nothing worse than having an S3 on Sprint. It's bad enough that you have to deal with the inferior CPU, but also the non-existent LTE network that is set to debut sometime between now and when hell freezes over.
why do US variant owners come to the international section to B!TCH and complain?????

O, we have an internet macho man here .... tough guy eh?
Closed, because you posted this in the wrong forum for a start, and because its a stupid thread.

Ok that settles it, this is the best phone ever created.

Ok so I entered into the Android world with an original Atrix. I was wowed by the "dual core processor". That phone was horrible.
I stayed with Android however and clang to Samsung for a year or so. I recently became fed up with my One X and S3 and was looking for something with better build quality. I found the Atrix HD. It's build quality was superior to the S3 and I much prefer on screen buttons. Obviously the One X had hardware buttons as well, which bugged me, but what really bugged me about the One X is that after 2 weeks, the beauitiful matte finish on the back started to wear off. This made the phone look uneven and cheap on the back with some parts shiny and others matte. I was completely tired of dealing with Android phones with poor build quality.Even the Atrix wasn't perfect, the damn sim door squeaked everytime you touched it, I actually thought about gluing it closed. Thats how much it bugged me. I am still spoiled by my Apple products that I used to own (NEVER AGAIN), but I love Android and would never go back to iOS. You have to admit the iPhone is a solid device hardware wise.
I then stumbled across the RAZR HD in a Verizon store. This was the best quality Android phone I had ever seen. I was sad that I could not buy it, as I have AT&T. It didn't take long for me to figure out that I could get one from Canada (Rogers) and it would work just fine with AT&T. After searching for weeks I FINALLY won a reasonable eBay auction.
My phone arrived today. This makes my Atrix look like a toy. This is the most solid and well built Android device I have ever seen. Certainly right there with the iPhone, if not better. I also was suprised to see that this phone has a much better camera than the Atrix as well. Also the speaker is the loudest and clearest I have come across. My co workers thought I was blasting a laptop earlier it was so loud. Totally blown away with this phone.
In my opinion this phone can not be touched right now. Sure there are phones on the market that have quad cores and twice the RAM, but I bet you those same phones don't have the build quality of this one. And if they even come close, there will be something else lacking, such as the camera or speaker (Optimus G). It just seems that the RAZR HD is good in every single category a phone can be.
I really hope motorola keeps this up and I can't wait to see whats next.

You see him trollin, you hatin? ^.^
I agree. This is the best phone I've ever used.
Consumer Reports have at the best Verizon phone available.
This is the best phone I've used as well, but my only other smartphone was a Motorola Defy, and while long in the tooth now, an avid development community on this forum has kept it going. It'll be getting 4.2 before my RazrHD gets 4.1, at this rate. Actually, scratch that, CyanogenMod 4.2 on Defy is at about the same stage as 4.1 for RazrHD.
Just waiting for the software to catch up with the hardware. I miss Jelly Bean, but I don't want an early alpha on my phone again, I use it for work.

Yep I think without a question the Razr Maxx HD is the best Android out. The build quality cannot be touched by samsung and htc sure there are quad core phones out but as someone pointed out they are running heavy touchwiz or sense skins that use up resources. I love it how close to stock android the RAZR is, its not like touchwiz and sense where you have to throw on a launcher just to get a decent experience.

Yeah and now they will have enough screen room to read alot more content in landscape mode....I laughed hard when they introduced that...I was like wtf?....I dont hate but damn....not to mention thier live stream was a disappointment the streamers had to show updated pics of the event...one thing I can say positively about the apple is that thier release dates are much sooner... same month as the presentation. ...
I have to say, Apple usually has great designs, but its new Watch is downright ugly. I also prefer the design of the 5S to the iPhone6. Not that I care so much, Imma buy the Note 4.
they completely miss the innovator (the boss)...

they have also conned the apple fans by not inc a 32gb model so now in the uk this is what you get.
iphone 6:
16gb £549
64gb £619
128gb £699
Literally any 2012 android flagship is better
iphone 6+:
16gb £619
64gb £699
128gb £789
literally any phablet is better, never mind the note 2, 3, 4.
My brother uses iPhone and when I ask him about features he said "it just works".. lol
He also said Android crashes alot. Not sure where he heard that my stock rooted n4 had never " crashed".
I think though the iPhone would be ok if the price was inline with premium android phones. I really like the build quality but the price is insane. The day I go out and spend over $1100 for a phone is the day it will have lady parts.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
We all laugh because iPhone 6/6+ finally add things we had in 2012, but in reality I'd say Apple finally caught back up to Android. All the main features of Android are now present in the iPhone 6/6+. I'm shocked that Apple finally gave up Steve Jobs' silly notion that large screens are bad. 4.7" and 5.5" are solid screen size options that cover most people'swishes.
You still have to deal with Apple's closed ecosystem. In terms of phone lockdown, though, since carriers in the US are locking down Android handsets more and more that point becomes less of an issue here in the US.
I'm still primarily considering Note 4 and Nexus X/6/5(2014)/whatever to replace my Note II, but this is finally a new serious contender from Apple.
