Where to get someone to apply screen protector? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently saw a post where it stated that they went to the mall to get someone to apply a ZAGG screen protector and was wondering if there are any places where I can get this done in the UK-London?

zagg can be applied as a DIY as well.

I know but I always seem to fail apply screen protectors

Take it to any local mall where there are some guys on a hut that do that if you live in the US, you can find some of those on shopping malls tho, usually the guys from ghost armor are on some of the biggest malls, check em out:

I always struggled to apply screen protectors until I saw this clip on YouTube;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMPqDwVZzzM
My advice is to buy a pack of ten or so cheap screen protectors and practice the technique shown in the clip. After a few attempts you will be able to apply the protector without getting any bubbles or dust trapped underneath. Then apply your ZAGG screen protector.
Good luck

nice way there

It's one of those things in life you have to do all by yourself. Like tying your shoelaces.

Use some kind of sticky tape. Stick it on near a corner and useit to lift the protector.
Great idea. Thanks.
can you aply the screen protector that came with the HD more then once?
I think you probably could, but would need some an alchohol solution of some sort to reapply.
Personally i have a insivible shield by zagg which protects the whole phone for about £15.
I would suggest trying harder with fingernails, the protector is thicker than you think and i got mine off with a bit of a fight

Personally I thought the zagg one was rubbish. It was very difficult to get it to cover the screen properly and the surrounding chrome bits with one single piece of plastic. I just bought the Clarivue anti-glare screen protector. I'll report on it when it arrives

Yes you can reuse them. Just gently wash the protector with hand soap and water (try not to bend it, keep it flat in your hand) and shake the excess water off and reapply.
A word of caution for those removing the screen protector using sticky tape.. I did that and got the top coating layer peeled off. Cry man...

A member had previously posted that he used WD40
His name was arsenalfc who then got banned and returned under a new name deanoyouno. He got banned again after I reported him for posting useless & damaging threads and subsequently all posts/threads by him were removed.....so there was a post orignially before my post which has now been removed.
I have the Invisible Shield fitted to mine , very nice and turns the rear of the phone Glossy Black, installing is fiddly but just be Patient, I had a few Bubbles in mine on the edges of the screen where there is a slight lip but after about a week its dried out and pretty perfect, I would recommend this shield to anyone who wants alot of protection, There are installation video's on the Zagg site which I would recommend watching First as the Palming tecnique on the corners is a must.
Hope this Helps
do they ship to Uk? or can u buy this shield in Uk? not a copy, but the official one, as looks impressive
Yesterday I started thread about if it is possible to scratch the display with the stylus..because i draw on my unit and I love it
And I was little worried that it may happen..people said that it not very likely to scratch but I may happen if some dust comes under the stylus tip or etc...
So I said OK I am cool...didn't apply it because it was too late and went to sleep...but I took my device to play a little more with it and what have I found?? SCRATCH!!! OMG...luckily just a little one but he is there, 455hole..
So today i wanted to apply the screen protector, first time in my life, it was pain the 455, I still couldnt get the bubbles out and blah blah..the nI touched the adhesive side and it got so dirty and ow damn
But as jdlorinser says, I hope it can be cleaned and reapplied...dont want to throw out just like that...
so this is my story
tip..
go to the bathroom,to put on the screen protector..WHY? because it's the most dust free aria in the house.
Don't use the protector that came with the hd,but buy a better one.
I use brando protector...This one is ant scratch, removable and washable...
just a tip.

No Screen Protector

Hi all,
anyone not using a screen protector? how is the hardiness of the glass? is it scratch resistant?
thanks!
i got the phone the 1st day it came out at t mobile and haven't used a screen protector since and i think the screen is pretty good i've only put it in my pocket once though. the screen looks just like when i bought it.
I have went a week without using a screen protector and I am just fed up with the smudges on the screen and I am going to just buy the Invisible shield and hopefully have it by the weekend. They are amazing products.

how long has the phone been with you? so it has no scratches and you dont use a pouch? im using a screen protector but im quite getting fed up with these things.
check this out if you wanna see how durable the screen is ..... I am just getting fed up with the smudges and want something besides a silicone sleeve for grip.

the glass screen is durable enough. i don't think you need a screen protector. you will probably break it before you scratch it.
Had the HTC rep come in my store today. He saw i had a screen protector and laughed. He was like you should know better man you dont need a screen protector. He grabbed my store keys and began to grind them on his screen with a fair amount of pressure and not one scratch i was impressed.

I would take it off immediately. There are numerous reports online that once the glass screen protector shatters , you risk shattering the glass underneath greatly and at least scratching it.

I used the one above and it works great. My gf had it for about 5 months and no bubbles.
Does get a little oily, but one good screen protector that doesn't start to form tiny bubbles. Some of the matte finish ones start to form bubbles randomly.
I got one and it is great, i am not sure why but i can see my note 3 easier in sunlight now, not sure if it is anti-glare or i am just going crazy. Does anyone know the EXACT thickness of this verizon tempered glass screen protector? I know it has 9H hardness though.
I purchased the Verizon one. I love it so far. Way better then traditional screen protectors and smooth to the touch. I'm not sure about the sview as I don't have one but works flawlessly with s pen. Great perk about buying it at Verizon is they will put it on for you. I know some people on here are pros but I get nervous putting mine one.

I had one of the "Chinese" glass screen protectors from eBay, and I loved it - not noticeable at all and very smooth to the touch... until the top edges began to separate and form huge bubbles at the top after only a few weeks. No matter what I did they wouldn't go away... it was driving me crazy so I had to take it off.
I'd love to hear from anyone that bought the Verizon one about how it's holding up after a few weeks of use.
Too bad I already used my $10 free isis promotion at Verizon.

That happened to my daughters Note 2.
Had the Spigen R on it, she bumped one corner of it on my kitchen counter and the Spigen cracked and spiderwebbed the hell out of the glass under it.

Yeah that's the other thing that drove me insane. I was VERY careful when putting it on, and immediately placed it on after removing the protective plastic, yet somehow a few pieces of dust got in there.... it's then impossible to get them out. Once you remove it fully, or try to get dust or anything off of the side that goes on the screen, it gets ruined. ?
Suffice to say, I'll never get ANY type of screen protector like that again. As much as I really don't want an actual case, it looks like I'll probably be getting the s-view case with built-in wireless charging capability.

Anyone find a good screen protector film or glass?

Can't find any ones that I like so far. I know the edge makes things difficult but all the glass one I've seen don't have adhesive all over just along the edge and the film one i bought doesn't stay down on the edge so has anyone found a good one or decent one?
Please specify it's full coverage...glass or film...works with case and of so what case

I try using the screen protector that came with the ghostek case I bought install it cover the entire front area of phone plus edges let set for about an hour try to put case on but everytime I did it would lift off the sides of the screen protector so I just took off the screen protector till I find that works. Also try the supershieldz ones same thing.

I was thinking about that one but im not sure about the wet install. I'm good at putting screen protectors on but I've never did a wet install before...i May have to check it out
If you have some time and patience go for the Invisible Shield hd dry full body coverage. I originally ordered a Naked skin from slickwraps but its been processing since the 18th. So when my N7 arrived today I went on the search around town and ended up in a Verizon store. They kindly put it on for me, took two tries lol. Mid-install the Verizon guy just rips it and balls it up and went to grab another. When I got home I went through the packaging and noticed he skimmed me on the install. and didn't install the back.. I tell you what that was the worst torture in my life but hey pics below! Came out beautiful. +extra dbrand lens laying around conveniently . :good: winning
I put on a IQ shield matte. I like the matte finish but it is not for everyone. There is some lost clarity but much less glare and no fingerprints. I like the wet install for no bubbles and being easy. It takes some time to let the edges dry so they will stick. Let it sit at least overnight before using or putting on a case.
My case (Spigen Ultra Hybrid)did cause the corners to lift, a common problem with cases. IQ Shield has since come out with a "case friendly" updated version that is getting good reviews. I've got one on its way.

I ended up buying the skinomi matte screen protector which stuck on the edges perfect. Went without a case for a week and then put the spigen neo hybrid on which is my favorite case of all time and it peeled the corners still. I warmed the screen protector and was able to reform the corners a bit and it helped but i still want a problem free combination
This is the case and glass screen protector that I use. The setup is perfect for me. You could use any screen protector with this case. It also holds the glass ones down and keep them in place.

Without clicking the link I'm gonna guess that's the unicorn beetle case. I have that myself and love it. I use the holster while at work
Great case. It works well with a glass screen protector.
I have an armorsuit on this phone, as well as several tablets and phones prior. Was originally skeptical of the curved edge, but it is working great so far. In the past 6 years armorsuits and common sense have kept me from having any cracked screens. And when I upgrade and sell the old phones, removing the armorsuit has always left a perfect as-new screen (but the housings usually have suffered damage from drops, etc.).

Is your tempered glass screen protector any good? How is the clarity? Sensitivity?
The clarity and sensitivity is great. I have one on my phone and my fiances phone. This is the third one we bought and its pretty close to the flat ones. Just line it up because the cut outs are exact. No room for error.

An affordable and perfect screen protector from Gadgetshieldz

Heyy everyone, After using my s9+ naked without any screen protector for about couple of months, I decided it was time to use one since I spotted 2 micro scratches on my screen
So as everyone is recommending the whitestone dome, as it fits best and is case friendly, I checked it online on few shopping sites but sadly non of them shipped to India without me having to bear the shipping cost that was as much as the cost of whitestone dome or sometimes even more
I started looking out for cheaper options and came across Gadgetshieldz's screen protector which was listed for a mere Rs. 500. Now this a wet application screen protector and from the unpleasant experience that I had in past with Zagg''s wet application screen guards, I was little skeptical to order one. But I had no other option so I went ahead and ordered one along with wet application kit.
Now as with all wet screen guards, after application the screen was full of bubbles and looked horrible. But Gadgetshield specifically says to allow it to cure for 24-48 hours naturally. And not to use the phone for around first 2-4 hours. So I did that followed everything and viola! The bubbles disappeared and the screen protector looks so awesome now. The surface is damn smooth, doesnt feel a bit like something is applied to screen. its too good,
Also the protector is available in 2 versions - Full screen and Case friendly. I am using it with Ringke Fusion and have no issues whatsoever.
Enough of the talking, please check the attached pics.

If you're happy with it that's great, however it's not really even remotely comparable with a Whitestone Dome which is an UV cured curved tempered glass screen protector including an installation guide cradle and the UV light. The one you link to is a film protector which will only protect against scratches, it won't do anything if you drop it.

Thats' what scratch guard does, protects from scratches, for drops the case is more than enough as a protection. Also looking at the price of whitestone dome, I highly doubt it can protect the screen from drops either, I have used tempered glass protectors on my phones previously and the tempered glass did nothing to stop shattering my iphone screen.
You were the one to compare it to the Whitestone Dome, not me. I just wanted to clarify for others that the two aren't comparable, especially since your post looks like an advertisement.
Also I've had tempered glass screen protectors on many phones and am yet to break a screen, however, I've broken many tempered glass screen protectors... Now there's no way to really know whether the screen would have broken if the protector wasn't there but to me it's cheap insurance really.

lol advertisement ? :silly:
You might be rich, but not everyone is to spend that amount on screen protector. Especially the people from India, where shipping costs more than the product itself. You are getting something nice at 1/6th price of tempered glass, so why not ?
You are free to ignore this post if it doesn't interest you But stop trolling on it.
What are the contents of the installation kit?
I am exactly in the same situation as you. Been using it naked because the normal tempered glasses sold trap dust inside and Whitestone isn't available.. so about to make the purchase of gadget shieldz.. also there is a normal glue based protector available too on Amazon.. so either that or gadgetshieldz

Trust me dont get the ones available on Amazon, a friend of mine tried those and threw it away in bin. The touch was horrible on those protectors.
As for the installation kit it includes : Lint free cloth, Spray with some liquid solution that you need to use when applying screen protector, and a squeeze or whatever its called :silly: to squeeze out all the bubbles. The spray content is adequate and more than enough to apply one screen protector, it comes in tall plastic bottle .
Alright thanks man.. I'll go for the one with the installation kit then worth Rs. .600 as it seems the solution is something I can't avoid to save Rs.100

not sure why u would say arent comparable as both are categories as screen protector and pet/plastic was widely use b4 tempered glass.
i used gadgetshieldz and ultimateshieldz on my lenovo p1 and p2 that i use it as my work phone so yeah.. its for rough use.. which i have countless drop on floor, flat on screen, mostly from waist height.. and to my luck, each time survive without any scratches..
downside? obviously it aint gonna as smooth as glass, i only notice this after comparing side by side with s9+ dome glass.. im giving it 8 out of 10.
some user reported it will turn yellowish after a year or so, which i believe it will.. tho mine havent yet.. lol
oh yeah, u definitely gonna notice its a pet type during screen off if u pay close attention.. i kinda like it.. not as reflective as glass
and im gonna use pet type if and when dome glass cracked..
