Motorola Razr i + Ubuntu = this? - Ubuntu Touch General

Hello, me and my friends are pretty hyped about the new Ubuntu OS for smartphones, I've been using Ubuntu since 8.04 and always loved Ubuntu and it's community. Since Ubuntu OS for smartphones was been announced I thought the Motorola Razr I, or any other high-performance Intel atom smartphones would make the best out of Ubuntu OS. For starters it's an Intel atom smartphone (x86) so you should be able to install desktop applications and games like Openarena on it or any other application. Another reason why is when you dock it you go into the desktop mode so screen size shouldn't be a problem. And Ubuntu's mobile OS does support Intel Atom, here's a small concept image me and my friend made.

nice! today screen Clock with Seconds!
And i love the 1ghz processor xD
Check this video out at Mobile Crunch. I have to say Im not that impressed.
http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2009/02/03/toshiba-tg01-fondled-on-video/
Interface looks pretty great on the video presentation I saw. I'm wondering if the 'stipes' will get a bit stale after a bit of usage? Looks pretty fluid and I'm all about that in my preferred interface. (whichever flavor I'm in to at the moment.) Will be interesting to see what comes out of it for our various devices.
now that i saw the iphone size comparison on msmobiles.com, i beginning to lose interest. this thing is HUGE!
thats nice really

I like the settings GUI
But the Toshiba Stripes menu uses way to small buttons (especially for switching clock, calendar etc.)
Sascha
I want, hope they release it in the US too. the top could a bit smaller but I still want one.
it's not a windows interface, it's just like TF2D and TF3D it's over the windows OS.

With that 1gb processor ps2 games should be doable as long as it has proper video and 3d drivers this time around.
what's the word on availability date?
price?
markets? etc
it would be a really nice upgrade to my athena.
There is already a thread on this subject:

which clock plugin is this and could we use it for wm6 (htc prophet)?

Wanting a Tinker Phone. What do you think.

I currently have a Nexus One and will not be replacing it.
what im hoping to find out is what is the best tinker phone around.
im thinking the HD2 is for me because it can run windows 6.5,hope soon to have windows 7 , android, meego, ubuntu and who knows what else.
so what do you think? what is your tinker toy (phone).
My Currnet Tinker toy dont laugh at me but its a Motorola Backflip running 2.1.
I think the HD2 is a good choice, you definitely can play with it a lot, I had one before getting a Nexus but I preferred just having a stable build rather than having to continuously update and find a good build with the HD2.

Ubuntu for phones announcement

Today, Cannonical has announcement a version Ubuntu for phones. They can found more info here: http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/phone
The requesites are very similar to HD2. Will be posible portable to it?
hope so...
Sorry for my bad English. I just reading that link. Some of my friend say that the Ubuntu OS is base on Android Kernel so we totally can port it to our HD2 but the rom running on Galaxy Nexus just a demo rom that mean the need a lot of time to config. Ubuntu OS is currently in the development stage and finishing, according to the source before we have to wait until 2014. I think that time is too long for our HD2.
^
well you never can say, there are a lot of Dev's here that are even miles ahead of those manufacturers/ phone companies, all we have to do is wait & see.
I also noticed just yesterday in one 2nd hand site here in HK all the HD'2 where sold & at least 10 more people where looking for one.

I'm a NAND user on a LEO1024. Since Ubuntu phone will support android kernels and the drivers it will be quite simple to get the required files from tytung's repo and merge it into the OS.
As soon as it's released or leaked there will be a race for "FIRST"

I assure you there will not be and if you want it, you will have probably to do it yourself. It's not android, nobody wants that... yet.
Challenge accepted!

To be the first would be awesome. I'm ready for it
i am waiting for that
please release it fo hd2
A very interesting project! My HD2 is looking forward!
I think it will be fun.
would be good as an excercise, i suppose. as long as the support is there.
why would it be better than android?
in my experience with ubuntu on my laptop, anything i try to do always seems end up typing long lines of code in a terminal window
as someone once said "linux is free if your time is worthless"
been developing with the new SDK & its a freakin beast ! .....i eat ...sleep ...poop ..Ubuntu ...its so much fun
Ubuntu Phone OS is going to rule ....its just so awesome !

Have we done it before? I joined this month so I have no clue that it has been tried already
That is not going to happen, it's not that easy and remember, it's not Motorola anymore, it's lenovo.
If they decide to do it, that would be a mess at the time to get the update. I am pretty sure we needed to make a full wipe. It wouldn't be just an update, it would be installing a new system from scratch and that's not something a lot of people would like to do, including myself.
I haven't had any problem with the device running a 32bit system and I am pretty sure I won't.
I would like to get Google Cam just for HDR+ but it's not a big deal and I can live without it.
We have an amazing dev team for the device so there is nothing we are missing for having a 32bit system.

Yes... There have been several threads here since this device first released whining about it being 32-bit, wanting to pressure Lenovo about making a 64-bit version, comparing the difference between the 32/64 bit world's, etc.
Simple answer, it's 32-bit... It's going to stay to that way, live with it.

HTC HD2 Leo - Windows 11 On Arm

I recently saw how the guys are using Windows 11 on devices such as Nokia / Microsoft Lumia 950 & 950XL and remembered the HTC Leo and the legend that it is, would it be possible to run Windows 11 on this little guy ?

I don't think so.
Possible, maybe.
But would it "run" ? I don´t think so.
The hardware specs already struggle with more recent android apps and tasks, how would a whole (bloated) desktop OS run on this?
However i saw it would run fairly decent on a OnePlus 6/6t but many things are still broken such as audio and RIL.
Yeh you guys are right, it's just that I really like the device, still using it with Android 5 on it, I think it's the last version of Android that has the camera working, didnt find any 6 or 7 rom with the funcctional camera, but still, awesome little phone, love it.
