[2012-12-29][stock] n7100zcall4 - china new rom - Galaxy Note II General

Have just read about this article: http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/03/samsung-exynos-security-update/
And checked the SamMobile site and saw several new ROMS for both S3 and Note2
GT-N7100 - China
PDA: N7100ZCALL4
CSC: N7100CHNALL4
Version: 4.1.2
Date: 2012-12-29
Regions: China, Hong Kong
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/187377678/e19b5ee/N7100ZCALL4_N7100CHNALL4_CHN.zip.html

Good news! But the date of that China rom (12/12/29) is before the exynos security update rollout in UK (13/1/3). Any way to know if the rom includes the update? If not, I'll wait.

That can't be new. It's only from May and June. JPU is from September or October.

Yes. I mean the latest..
Thank you @rjpalmeida8 for the links.
As far as the release is concerned please note the region specific release - it is XW instead of XX. One is Eastern Europe while the other is Western Europe
But considering the release date its odd why Samfirmware would tweet about it this late..
yup thats right.. though xxjpk and jpi r already thr for worldwide edition.. maybe dis is just country /region specific...

[Q] Three different roms or not?

I saw three different stock rom versions on sammobile belongs to 2013 January.
First one is XXLK3, second one is DXMA1, third one is JPMA1.
What's the difference with these updates?

Thy are for different regions of the world, not sure but I think JPMA1 is middle east firmware, XXLK3 is maybe a European build and DXMA I dunno...they don't match any of the ones in Doky73's Odinable packages post as they are so new but I see he has been converting some of the new firmwares already so maybe we will find out from him which is which

Yeah, Bulgaria which is in Europe.
I find them quite useless anyway, Samsung could have atleast give a changelog somewhere to see if there are any improvements and fixes to this, that.

I agree there, you just have to "suck it and see" as the old saying goes - use the update and see if there is anything noticeable - less FCs, better menu response, less lag in games that kind of thing. I guess you could use Antutu to compare the firmware versions...that will tell us about any speed increase/decrease I guess.
On a sidenote, the latest UK firmware is almost 7mb larger than the last version, I will find out tomorrow why...

Typical... A week after I got fed up with Samsung's pathetic attempt at a rollout and went custom.
Someone in their offices should be kicked in the balls.. BTU should have been the FIRST update rolled out, being it's the simplest!
OK... stupid question but, what is BTU?

It's the coding for international "generic" devices. The ones needing the least amount of customisation imaginable as there's no operator requirements to complicate things.
So it should have been the first one released instead of just about the last!

It's 1.31GB btw.
The real question is whether this has the WiFi disconnect bug present in other stock N7100 KitKat builds.
I am using this ro and i was updated ota. And all work good. No problems with WiFi.

Can someone spot any changes to the old firmware from Spain?
Regards.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem with 5ghz wifi that others have had with the new firmware from Taiwan?
Ah good news!It seems that his tablet hasn't been abandoned!I only hope that this version will rollout in the other european country..

I've installed this, tablet working ok - too early to comment on changes.
It is rather sad and disappointing that there's still no official update for UK bought P600's ... a big samsung failure IMO

I've not followed the discussion as such, nor did I try the Taiwan firmware, however I have just verified I am connected via 5 Ghz (at work) just fine
The tablet was originally installed on android 4.3 UK, BTU. I've since flashed the initial spain 4.4.2, then this new one. I didn't reset at any point, so the CSC is still showing as BTU. It's possible an asian CSC (or anything outside europe) may result in different wireless availability due to rules over what channels are allowed in what countries, and I suspect this data is all part of the CSC definition
If that is the case, proper wifi may only come back with a hard reset/CSC switch. I'm no expert though it's just a hunch...
The same built is now out on Switzerland (AUT) too!!:good:

True they are bad with software updates, but an official AODService by Samsung app was uploaded on Samfirmware website, and it said compatible with S7 & S6 specifically, leading us to believe that AOD is in the works for the S6, considering the new Galaxy A8 has the same chipset as our S6 but also has AOD.

i'm really fed up with samsung

Does anyone have a mega link for the BTU version of this?

Yes, flashing the Russian build via Odin fails at ~90%, on hidden.img. I was afraid it would brick the device, but it didn't. I used flashed another build over the existing one, it worked just fine.

Extract hidden.img and rename it to hidden.img.tar, then flash with AP option in Odin.
