[Q] Sound issues with new rom - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hi All !
I flashed my transformer pad tf101 with the rom I found below :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858295 (As a new XDA user I unfortunately cannot report my issue directly in this thread)
It's the first time I switch to cyanogen mod on an Android Device and I'm amazed with the good quality of the system, but I have a little issue :
The sound is really really weak, I thought at first that it wasn't working at all (I was trying to watch a youtube video) until I finally heard something as nearly stuffing the tablet into my ear
Second question, I found this morning this thread about a 4.2 implementation which is quite tempting : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010903
If I want to flash with this rom do I need to switch back to the stock asus version of Android to avoid a brick ? Any other precaution required ?
EDIT : Appears I posted this question in the wrong section of the forum, please delete it as I can't and sorry for inconvenience.

[Q] can I natralize n7 rom to viewsonic n710?

Hi,there!
in the first place ,I should give special thanks to webmaster, because I spent many time to register a member of here, but failed,he helped me to make it!thanks!
I bought a chinese tablet ,viewsonic n710,it has similar hardware to n7,maybe I should say ,it's a fake n7.
nvidia t3 cpu ,and 1g ram,8g rom!but its' android version is still 4.04!and unfortunately ,because of the manufacture's reason ,I can not get any big update from them, they just released some patch for this product!
at the begining ,its' recovery was android backup <3e>,as we know ,it can not backup the whole system to external disk, hence ,I spent 3~4 days to naturalize cm recovery to my device ,and finally ,I made it!at here ,I must give special thanks to the author!:good:
here comes my question ,can I update kernal by myself?the first way I thought ,may I replace the kernal by n7's zimage?you know its' kernal version is 4.21 now?and will it work with my n710?
if not ,can I compile the kernal by myself?because I am a newbie with android system,I have no experience on such a project.some documents said that the hardware drivers is included in the kernal,is it right?if it's right ,that's to say ,what I do is only waitting for the manufacture's update?
the second question , can I naturalize n7 rom to my n710? because the system kernal is different.to be honest, and I have no idea about the cause of android boot now.and if it may .please give me some suggestion to do it.because there are little helpful chinese article on learning such technology in china!
appreciated you guys any help and reply!!:highfive:
and finally ,I am so sorry for my poor english!
I highly doubt the nexus 7 ROM will work on your view sonic. There's a lot of differences even though they have the same hardware. I wouldn't try putting a n7 ROM on it. There's a chance you could fry it. I had a view sonic tegra 2 tablet and I know how you feel. They never update anything.
The place to start is by looking at partition/ directory structure.. Im guessing your device is unlocked as you have a custom recovery on it.. If the directory structure is STOCK ANDROID as in 4.0 4.1 . There is a chance with some kernel tweaking you can get it ported. There will NO DOUBT be hardware to not work .
There is not a yes or no answer. Because it Can very likely be ported . its just about how much time you want to spend .And resources available for the hardware in your tablet..
So i would start by looking at the device structure. And compare hardware differences between the device such as wifi sound bluetooth and other hardware .
Its likely will cost you more and frustrations .then just buying a nexus.. But xda is all about what your asking..
GOOD LUCK if you tackle the project...

thank you guys for your advice in the first place!!
although I think that it's very challenged for me,but I still want to have a try first, even I can guess that I will be frustrated in the end!
nowadays my ieda is that don't modify any things on zimage, just simply naturalize the n7 rom to viewsonic n710!!
I think that there's a little chance for me if I keep doing on it!you know ,I am just a newbie on android system ,so in the first place ,I may lost way,
but it's no matter to me if I can learn something from naturalization.so I have decided to make it even I know that I will fail!
good luck to me!
Hi!
Would you be kind to explain me a bit more, what do you want to make with your tablet? Do you want to install nexus7 firmware on it or what?
By the way, do you know how to root this device?

the cwm recovery is 6.1.1.19 ,and the backup function is ok,but I havn't tested restore function till now!!because my tablet still havn't bricked :laugh:I also have a member in vsset, but it seems that few people have enthusiasm on doing something on N710!!
a good news ,I BRICKED THE VIEWSONIC N710 IN INTENDED WAY!!!and used restore function to repair it,it works!!
the cwm group really did a swell thing to android system!!!thanks a lot!
I may release the cwm recovery in public way ,but it depends ,partly because we still have customer service if you bricked your device in negligent way or intended way!!but the main reason is because nobody published rom for N710!!!if you use this device in normal way ,it's hard to brick this device!!right???if you think that with cwm recovery ,your tablet will never be die ,it's wrong!!

first of all ,I am no master!!
according to the reason I told above,I don't want to give viewsonic any reason to refuse repairing our n710 and update their rom with delay!
as we know, we still havn't perfect rom for n710,no matter 1.01 or 1.05,right?
if everyone has cwm recovery, when we blame the gps issue to them ,they may say "install 1.05",when we blame the power issue to them,"install 1.01,that's will be ok",what do you say then??
I think that you can understand it,right?of course I posted such a thread at here that isn't for boast,I really need others experience about naturalazing nexus 7 rom or cm10,you know, that's based on 4.1.x!
I also wish that I can make it ,and then I can do other things for myself,I really spent much time on n710 till now!!
if I knew that someone has made it,I will throw this project as soon as possible!
If you release the rom, we can try to transfer N7 rom to N710 together.

I am so happy that someone has the same thought with me!!
but because of my poor internet speed in china,I am afraid that I cann't!
the size of rom is about 850mb(if what I remember is right),it's a really big challenge for me to upload the rom!
my internet is wireless ,and the upload speed no more than 60k/s,and it's the common condition ,if the weather is bad ,the speed will be more bad!!
if you really want transfer N7 rom to N710,I think that you should not be messed by grabing rom from n710!!after all ,it's the first step you should do.right?
to my opinion ,to transfer n7 rom to n710 is not a good choice, though the hardwares look similar ,but in fact ,the touch pad, gps, camera and so on is totally different,I have ever flashed n7 rom to n710 directly ,but could not boot ,and it's the sure thing what I could image in the begining.and next ,I flashed modified rom which based on n7 rom to n710,still couldn't boot either!(of course,I may do many silly things on N7 rom modification, frankly,I am a newbie on android system) , but if you want n710 to have n7 operation interface(base on n7 rom but have n7 4.1.2 interface),just forget my words!I think that it's possible!
good luck if you really want to tackle it !guy!I also hope that someone can make it,because it can save my time.
and I am so surprised that foreign friends have interest on this device, because the device is not popular at all, even in china!

Viewsonic N710 Cannot start stuck at bootloader or on birsd image.
Hello Sir,
Pleae help me. I have Viewsonic N710 and it is not starting up. It only show the birds logo (logo of viewsonic).
I tried already the reset and all the reset option but its stuck on logo. It also show the dead android with triangle and ! mark.
Please let me know how to fix it.
I am new in android world.
Thank you very much.

hello world , new note 10.1

Hello there guys nice to meet you :silly: , i ve neen with you for a while , reading some of your threads , but today i got my note 10.1 .
i have some questions though(i did some reasearch first )
1) how long for initial charge ? there is no indicator ,is it?
2) should i update jelly bean imediatly (through kies) i guess i will get a longer battery life , correct?
3)regarding rooting , i guess all guides are updated for rooting jellybean, right? or should i root on 4.0 and then update ?
i ve read that some methods increase binary number count wich will void my warranty ,
and some others won't.
So i would like to point me out some directions if possible . cheers !
So Mr. Trademarked Naturegod.
I don't think anyone will make that kind of decisions for you.
1. Charge it and you will see.
2. Some say so, others don't. Maybe a new ROM can max the battery life as well.
3. There is somewhere an app to decrease that back to zero.
4. You should read some more threads, write down your questions on paper and then search the forum first to find an answer.
5. Watch the registration video. I liked it.
edit: Oh, instead of writing down your questions on paper, use ure new note 10.1.
haha thank you very much , kind sir
btw i dont see any back up option on kies , correct?
any guide i follow here . on how to back up , will be updated ? or i should pay attention to some details?
I really do not know.
The first thing I have made was to install cwm via odin. Maybe an older one because the newest clockwork mod (touch) have some errors in graphic installations of some roms. So I installed a cwm that seemed to work on other notes too.
After that I installed via cwm (pay attention to bootmode) the root-zip and then a good ROM (or vice versa).
Now I can install anything I want. If I install that app to set the modification counter to zero, I can flash the original stock image back to the device and nothing ever happens. (Maybe other people tried and I forgot something.)
Via cwm you can backup. Otherwise you have to use an App like titanium backup.
Before you install any ROM or flash your device... you should install any app you want and you want to test. Play around and the best apps and things you install after a fresh rom flashing.
If you do it step by step, there isn't much you can do wrong. But still pay attention and read everything in those interesting threads. Sometimes the newest information isn't on first site.
Update to newest version, watch out for the exynos exploit (use search, but should be patched with newest samsung update) and maybe - eh, whatever. Use it like other noobs use a new tablet.
If you don't need the pen, maybe you should change to nexus 10 (?)
Normally, most member in here don't write that much. I do because I am new too. Read the Stickies in each thread. Should answer most questions.

Newbye questions

Hi all! I just purchased 4 days ago my nexus 4 16Gb
Im quite happy with it but here are some questions: I'm just asking them because probably someone else has already gone through the same doubts and probably has some more experience: This device's forums have the fame of being more polite and tolerant than some other, so I hope you guys give me some feedback
I come from SGSII - I have ben using CM9 and 10.0 until it got bricked on november 2012
In the moment i received the new phone, i unlocked it, installed CWM Recovery and made a backup of the original ROM, then, installed CM10.1+franco kernel (both nightly)
The questions I have are:
1: Perhaps the low battery life has something to do with the fact that this is my new toy and I cannot stop playing with it, but I'm thinking about trying official ROM+ root.... would this improve the battery life?
2: The camera has been acting weird a couple of times: Once, the image was flickering: a reboot fixed it.... and another time, when i opened the camera app, would get a black screen. Im not very patient.... so I restarted and the problem is gone... Would official ROM fix this?
3: Which features do we have in stock rom that are not present on CM?
4: On stock rom, can you Root/Unroot and then re-lock the phone as if nothing happened? ¿Do you lose data if you do so?
5: There is a lot of confusion about this: When you unlock the phone, the disclaimer says that process "MIGHT" VOID THE WARRANTY..... does it void it or not?, what does that "might" mean?
Overall, the phone is wonderful and I'm really happy, I'm just thinking about testing stock rom but I don't want to lose functionality...
I'm waiting for your advice.
Thanks!!

3 problems at one time!!!

Hi
I'm from Italy
My name is Giampaolo
The galaxy s3 neo is my second phone
The phone was rooted with resurrection remix rom and after an accidental falling I've changed the LCD display with frame
Then I unrooted the phone and I've installed a stock rom from sammobile
Tryied more stock roms
All the things gone well except rear camera, microphone and ear jack
Now first thing I've done it's changed two times the ear jack and it doesn't work at all
The music comes distorted and with low volume when I listen music from ear jack .
Tryied more earphones.
From speaker music comes at right volume
Is this depending from some bugs?
How can I fix the problems?
I've tryied all the resets I know
Changed roms
In the mean time I've bought rear camera on eBay and s microphone and I'm going to change them.
What else I could do?
Tnx
Giampaolo

Hello Giampaolo,
I'm very sorry you're going through this, but your situation is interesting because something similar happened to me.
I also tried getting my S3 Neo on stock version from Samsung, yet I couldn't find the correct version so I had the problem with camera not working, and headphone jack.
I think you should try to find a correct version of the stock system, or flash another custom one, as I did.
I installed Lolipop by developer Rox, it is amazing, and stable. If you want I can send you the link.
I would generally suggest that you use Lolipop 5.1.1 cm12, since stock Samsung system is heavily bloated, and has lot's of security flaws, regarding your permission, etc.
I hope I was helpful, anyways, if you need that link just tell me.
Have a nice day,
Nikola.

Here is the link of the Rom, it is developed by Rox, who is an amazing developer, soon there will me 6.0 version for S3 Neo, it is currently being tested and developed, so hopefully we will see it soon.
Link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24344671467602216
Instalation of the ROM is simple, standard one, you will do it over recovery, but just in case I will also send you tutorial here:

GAPPS Link: http://opengapps.org/
Also for GAPPS download 5.1 version, and I recommend Pico, since it is just the essentials, other google apps are easily downloadable from the market.
Enjoy!

Hi Nikola,
I've installed CM12 and Gapps as you told me, but the problems ( microphone and earjack sound distorted ) still exist.
In the mean time I solved the camera issue changing it with a new one.
Does anyone know if this kind of problems could depend from playservice app?
I've read around the web something about.
Tnx

I'd like to clean install my mi A1

Hi!
After a long time hacking my phone by setting up different kind of custom roms and kernels, I'd like to start from a fresh base before going to a custom Q rom
Indeed, I have some bugs that appeared through installs, like an echoing while calling or sometimes the network doesn't works anymore after ann accidental full discharge.
So to remove these issues, I think it would be great to reinstall android from the beginning, just like you do with a normal OS on a computer. Just wipe everything and clean install
I already did a few fresh installs by going from android 7 up to 9, just to be sure I didn't miss any firmware version, but I don't like the idea of installing something over bugs.
Thank you for your help, and sorry for the mistakes I probably did in my thread (I'm not a native speaker )
Firmware version
Well, it's been a few days since I firstly posted this (Happy new year!! )
I forgot to mention something: The main reason why I want to do this is because I'm not sure about my firmware version, nor if I installed all the versions properly as I don't understand quite well what happens in the memory while flashing something
