Nexus 7 - 10" alternative? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
could anyone recommend an alternative to Nexus 7, having a 10-inch screen? Something not as expensive as N10?
Thanks!

Nexus 7 Rivals.

Does Nexus 7 have any rivals? I mean rivals with close performance?
In the same price range? Frankly, no. For the sub-$200 market, the nexus destroys anything else out there. The only competitor that comes close is the KF HD, but it mainly focuses on build quality, not raw performance.
Acer iconia a110
4.1 Jelly bean,tegra3,HDMI,SD SLOT
That? If the screen was good, I would sell it

Samsung makes a few 7 models, not directly comparable. The galaxy tab 2 has an sd card, rear camera, but not as nice of screen or processor. The 7.7 has an amoled screen but a higher price.

The screen is fairly good on the trasnformer pad TF300. It's great for me but others might not be as impressed for some reason. If you want a good screen, you could look at either the transformer prime or the transformer infinity. The tablet does have some I/O problems which causes some issues.

So it might not be a good step up then ... thanks for honest advice

The tablet's good, don't get me wrong, but it does have it's problems. There are workarounds and performance may be much better on a custom ROM but i don't know (I'm unrooted and on stock). The dock is useful and a nice addition.

I' ve bought 4 months ago the tf300t and rooted only!..phoned to ASUS 4 times 'cause it was laggy since updated to JB and finally exchanged ( plus cash ) with NoteN8000 preowned by a friend: another world, for me!
TF300T is a great piece of cake: Tegra3 is very good for gaming, fast ram, 32gb of storage but not optimized at all! I/O problems make it so laggy, as my opinion!
Note is really faster, screen better under the sun, good multitasking with 2gb of ram, 1 minute to root and CWM flash with "not void" warranty and the spen is perfect if u use your tab as a writing or drawing tool as me! "Only" problem the build quality !
Good evening and sorry for my english

Which device is more powerful: Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire HD?

In terms of graphical power?
well, the nexus 7 has a better advantage with the processor, but the fire is better running because of a total specs list that makes up for the processor.

Spec list? What's that

What fire HD spec is better then the Nexus? Only thing the Kindle fire has over the Nexus is, HDMI, better speakers and slightly better screen.
The Nexus is absolute the more powerful device.

You answered your own question. Spec is more than processor speed.
You pays your money and takes your choice !
What I think is fantastic is just how the Nexus 7 and KF HD offer really good devices for a modest price.
and no Apple margins to have to pony up for.
Both Nexus 7 and KF HD are very very good value for money. Pretty much at Cost.

What I like on the Kindle over the N7 are not considered specs.

One clarification I want to make, is that if your a hacker:Next
If you want a good multimedia experience:KFHD

I have both, I like both.
At Home I use the Fire HD
At Work I use a XYBoard 8.2 (I need the bigger screen)
Everywhere else I use the Nexus 7
Multimedia goes to the Fire HD hands down, My headphone pause control works on the Fire HD, but not on the Nexus 7. (and it works on the XYBoard too) The screen has better colors on the Fire HD. The speakers are AWESOME on the Fire HD. To watch a movie on the Nexus 7 without headphones, I have to cup the speaker with my hand. Forget trying to listen to music on the Nexus 7 without headphones.
Roadworthiness goes to the Nexus 7. It slides right into my pants pocket. The Fire HD...not so much - I can cram it in with some effort. I actually use the Face Unlock which is great when you are on the run. Google Now has pulled my chestnuts out of the fire on multiple occasions. (I carry a Verizon MIFI in my shirt pocket) The GPS on the Nexus 7 ROCKS.
But to tell the truth, the XYBoard is my favorite. It is thinner than either of the other tablets. The screen is as good as the Fire HD but larger The speakers are way better than on the Nexus 7 (but still not quite on par with the Fire HD) The GPS comes a close second to the Nexus 7. It is the same width as the Fire HD, so I can cram it in my pocket just like the Fire HD, but it doesn't slip in like the Nexus 7. Of course it cost as much as both the other tablets put together...:silly:

[Q] Keyboard case?

I was considering purchasing an Asus Transformer TF300 because I loved the keyboard. Has any manufacturer announced a keyboard or keyboard case for the Nexus 10?
I'd go for the tf700 you get 32 GB plus expandable storage and the resolution is already so high

[TF300 vs Nexus 7 FHD] Which is better?

I just sold my Kindle Fire, so i need a new tablet. I have enough money for bothe but. So l, I thought why not a TF300? I found a $200 Refurbished TF300(32 GB) for sale so its a very strong competitor to the N7. I listed out the possibilities of the Cons and Pros.
TF300 (32GB)_________________________________•
Pros:
•Has a 10.1 in. Touch Screen with IFT.
•Has 32 GB of Memory.
•Has a actual ultrabook keyboard.
•Is made by ASUS.
•Has Android 4.1
Nexus 7 FHD(16GB)______________________________•
Pros:
•Has Super High PPI
• Has Android 4.3+
•Has a actual ultrabook keyboard.
• Its a Nexus
• Has 2GB of RAM
•Its made by ASUS
Cons of TF300:
•Has 1GB of RAM
•Doesnt have Official 4.2+ Support of Android
•Too large to travel
•Has Lower PPI
•Is a 1 year old device
Cons of a N7 FHD:
• Has a 16 GB Memory
• Has Build as well as Screen and Hardware Problems
• Vulnerable to Break Downs
• Screen is too small
Help me decide which is better, please.

Are you worried about performance? Cause the new Nexus is a LOT faster than the TF300.
Just using the devices will show you that. The TF300 is no slouch don't get me wrong, but the I/O performance coupled with the 1GB ram and (now outdated) tegra 3.. just doesn't stack up to the Nexus. If you can live without the keyboard and don't mind a 7" screen, go for the Nexus straight away.
The thing is there are soooooooo mmmaaaannnnny problems with the N7 that you just don't want buy it but the hardware is too good.

I have both, and to be honest, I'd take the new n7 10 times out of 10.
Its smaller, battery is better, screen is better, vanilla Android, faster processor... If you want to store all your data on one device, then I'd steer you to the tf300, otherwise, go with the n7, without a doubt.
And an FYI, I had the first n7, and had zero issues as well. I have sent my tf300 in twice for warranty work.

I would go with an Asus memo 7 hd over the nexus same basic design with an sd card. Albeit a slower soc lower ppi it can be had for 150$ the nexus 10 looks sexy.

either way: they both are gonna be very expensive!
Ummmm, a Nexus 7 is one of the most competitive priced Android tablet on the market. And it is also the fastest, with vanilla Android. I don't see the comparison for value, hands down its the nexus 7.

It connects to bluetooth speakers just fine, but you'll have to try you luck with bluetooth keyboard. It will connects to an Apple bluetooth keyboard, but a key will hold every minute or so. Which makes it unable. Then I have this motorola bluetooth keyboard that won't even connect at all. The multi touch issue was fixed in a recent update. There is also a problem with the GPS locking up in one location which I'm not sure if it was fix during the update.
