Connection to LAN via non-wireless Router, autocharger...

I know that connection to the internet can be achieved via USB&ActiveSync or Wifi. But can the device be connect to the internet via normal Ethernet plug on my (non-wireless) router. Which adapters are required to do so? At home I do not have a wireless router so I am wondering if this is possible…
And, can auto charger for my Hermes (TyTN) be also used for Athena??

Buy a cheap wireless access point (with no router) and connect it to the port on your wired only router.

the phone may also connect to the internet via bluetooth
and yes i believe the charger from your hermes should work

No. That's just a bunch of connectors. It won't help your situation.
I still think Pyrofer's sollution is the best one (second post).

any bluetooth dongle should work
but ideally speaking if u can afford it go for the wireless access point it will cost a little more than a bluetooth but its well worth the extra 10-15 bucks

Nonetheless I would like to stay "wired" for some time more. Reason is that I have two small kinds and we are leaving in a small apartment. I would like to prevent exposing them to any unnecessary "wireless" technologies as long as possible, at least now when they are growing up.
So, once again I am asking you: is there an adapter between Ethernet plug (RJ-45) and (mini) USB on the Athena and will eventually connection to the internet work?

There is NO wired adaptor for the Athena. The closest you can get is a USB lead and activesync, then use the PCs internet connection.

On the web site, it says:
Supports PPC 2002/2003/2003SE, CE5/4.2/4.1 and Windows® Mobile 5.0 (coming soon)
I am not sure it means the driver for WM5 is coming soon.

Ummm, you want to protect them from wireless radio waves? I take it you leave the phone in flight mode when in their presence, don't use Microwave ovens in your house, haven't got cordless phones e.t.c.? Sorry, don't want to bash your views, but there IS an awful lot of paranoia put out by the media and many people who jump on the bandwagon before establishing the facts.
As for sharing the internet, I know you can do it from PC->Ameo V easily with the included 'internet sharing' applet. I do it via BT, but USB works equally well.

Using Windows Mobile phone as a USB WiFi receiver?

I was wondering if this is possible. I've heard of people using ICS Control to turn it into a hotspot, but I no longer have a working WiFi card. I just got a new computer with Windows 7 and all I can do is use the built-in Internet Connection Sharing that comes with WinMo until I get a long ethernet cable to wire from my router to my room.
So I was wondering if it's possible to use the phone's ability to receive WiFi to share that connection with the computer. I'm sure there's some way for it to be done. Any suggestions?

After some searching, I've found a program called "Serialtunnel" and "wmtunnel" that is supposed to do just that, however I cannot find any working download link...

Will work as wifi to usb, making your phone a WIFI usb adapter. I use it with my desktop when hooked to my TV in the livingroom, rather than a 35 foot cord.
Its as simple as= plug in phone, start Wmwifirouter , touch wifi to usb button.
Battery charges while working so it doesn't kill it.

phone's ability to receive WiFi to share that connection with the computer can only be obtained if your phone allows to do so. check out the official site of your phone developrs. there will definitly be some considerations about this

Nexus 10 usable as screen?

Hi xda users,
since the display of the Nexus 10 will be awesome I'm contemplating getting it because I'd really like to use it as a (second) screen for my computer. Does anyone know if this will be possible? Probably not without, but maybe *with* a mod? Can we use this Miracast Screen Share the other way round possibly?
It'd be really cool to play games on it as well, with the power of my desktop. I wouldn't be able to tell the pixels apart/ wouldn't see any pixelisation. Also this will get rid of the need for antialiasing which will boost performance

Splashtop2 is pretty good and there is hardly any delay so depending on what you are using it for it might be okay, but it doesn't give you an extra screen just mirrors an existing one. If you want an additional screen you could try airdisplay, haven't tried it for gaming but it might be okay.
Also I have played D3 using Splashtop and besides not being a very good game it worked fine.

Yeah I'm very interested in this. I tried out Air Display and it worked well, but it had low framerates and some lag.

How can I use the Nexus 10 to replace the cracked screen on my Lenovo E420 laptop?
I will not always have access to a wireless network, so I need to find a solution that is either wired or bluetooth.
I assume a wired connection would be best, followed by bluetooth.

I don't think it's possible to do it wired, because the Nexus 10 has no input port for its display.
Bluetooth as far as I know does not have a protocoll for video transfer, so that's not possible either afaik.
However you might be able to connect them per WiFi Direct oder WiFi Ad-Hoc, meaning you don't need WiFi network on it's own because they connect directly or the Nexus 10 to the Ad-Hoc network, respectively. If your laptop supports WiFi Direct (you can look it up on the WiFi Alliance Website, every product is listed there) you might be able to use Miracast. But you need software for it on your laptop for windows or whatever you use. If you got Android 4.2 on it, then you don't need new software ;P (that's probably not easily achieved, but may be soon when there's an official x86 AndroidOSP Version).
If not, try DLNA. I don't know if Windows or Linux supports it, but I think support is achievable through software.

bluetooth completely borked. fix it google!

I've been trying to get a BT mouse to work on my nexus 4.
i've now tried 2 different models, without success.
both are recognized, both pair and then both completely fail to work.
to add insult to injury, i tried one of those mice on a friend's samsung google nexus today -- also running jellybean -- and it worked perfectly.
could anybody running a BT mouse successfully SINCE THE LAST UPDATE (4.2.1) let me know what make/model they have?

take a nexus 4 + slimport adaptor + BT mouse + BT keyboard,
add an lcd TV with hdmi input (now common in hotels etc.),
and you have:
- a portable PC
- a decent home media centre (with armchair remote input)
- possibly a productivity tool for editing text/ photos etc. for which a touchscreen is too inprecise an input device.

Instead of doing all that why wouldn't you just go wireless display and then use the phone as the remote at the sametime? Wouldn't that make more sense?
And AFAIK, bluetooth input devices weren't supported?

sorry, i typically use a laptop for those things. It would make a lot more sense btw. You can also use your phone as a bluetooth mouse/keyboard if you have a laptop that connects to a tv.

Wow, you are quite "the absurd man". If you're trying to find help in a forum, it's best if you be a bit nicer. We're both trying to give you better alternatives to what you're trying to accomplish. To answer your questions...
A/wireless display technology is built in with the n4 and jelly bean and it's not yet widely available to most tv's yet but achievable with adapters.
B/so you don't have to carry around a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. It helps you with 2 less things you carry (unless you're using a combo).
C/this one I can't back him cause I thought it is supported. Maybe it is broken, but I don't use it so I wouldn't know

i don't want to carry a laptop around when i already have a computer in my pocket.
and i'm not happy with touch input devices as they are too slow and lack the precision needed for heavy editing.
these are my (not i.m.o. unreasonable) requirements of the nexus 4.

getting the display to the TV is no problem -- i already have a slimport adaptor! why would i want to max out my wifi for that? it's bananas!
and i've already said that i don't want to use touch input as it's too slow and inprecise for my purposes.
my portable (igo stowaway) keyboard and notebook BT mouse are tiny (and inexpensive).
sorry to seem abrasive but you are not getting what i'm trying to achieve here.

i've heard other people making the tablet/ phone distinction before and i'm not sure it's a valid one. the nexus 4 surely IS a tablet, albeit with a smaller physical (not resolution) screen. what else distinguishes a tablet? i use my N4 in exactly the same way i used my asus transformer and playbook.

In your first post you didn't clarify that you were going to hook it up to a tv, so I assume that you were planning to connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to your n4 and try to work from it's bit-smaller-than 5" display, which is highly unproductive.
N4 is technically a phone, not a tablet, by definition and specifications. I shouldn't have to explain the differences between a phone and a tablet (I'm sure there's a thread with detailed explanations)... just because it's running the same os doesn't mean it has the same hardware classification.
I understand that you want your N4 to replace your computer and the technology is very close, but not quite there yet... For simple tasks, it's good, but for anything editing, a laptop computer is highly more productive than a phone. Imagine you're doing something and you constantly receive phone calls and text messages.
Anyways, I will test this later when I get home and see if it's really broken. I know my Bluetooth moga game controller works just fine so I don't know why your mouse wouldn't.

my BT keyboard works fine, but no mouse that i've tried.

Bluetooth is pretty much borked in all versions of Jellybean for all devices. Some things work and some things don't its pretty hit or miss. Version 4.2.1 added some drivers for game controllers but not much else so that's probably why those work and things like mice don't. There is supposed to be another fix coming in the next version but all that's known to be in there for sure is a fix for A2DP streaming.

however, the (jellybean) samsung google nexus has no problem running a BT mouse, as i saw today.
i'd like to raise awareness of this problem with the N4 and get some more response from users, which has so far been sparse, probably because (as other posters in this thread have indicated) few see the need for a mouse.
for instance, somebody reported on another thread that they had been able to make a microsoft 5000 notebook mouse work. can anybody corroborate that?
i'm reluctant to shell out for yet another mouse considering that i'm currently holding 2 non-functioning ones.

Windows 6.5 had this function, simply connect via wifi or USB (through activesync) and have 100% control over the phone from your mouse and keyboard. It was great, perfect and enabled no need to ever pickup my phone through my work day.
Continuum blows compared to this.
Do you think we will ever get an ability to RDC to our phone and do this full feature support?

You can connect a mouse and keyboard to your phone using USB OTG and Bluetooth. Is that what you're talking about?

Sort of. In the past, and currently on Android or on iphone via jailbreak, you can remotely control your phone through a PC. This gives a person the ability to continue to use the same mouse and keyboard as their desktop, answer calls and reply to texts, etc. I understand Continuum was never intentioned to do this.

This tool do at least what you want via usb. Wifi hopefully follow soon. Continuum is a function which is completely different from your needs. It has great options.

I'm pretty sure that continuum works with wired mouses and keyboards as well as wireless ones. The wired ones require the continuum dock, but it's free right now before sometime in january with a lumia 950 xl.

I use continuum with a 12€ usb c to hdmi adapter and a BT Keyboard with touchpad integrated and it works pretty good. Also the hdmi adapter is very small. This package is 40 euros good invested money.

you can use the xbox one wirelessly if youre a preview program member too, i put you tube vids oh her tv directly from the phone instead of searching for em over the youtube app

With redstone (Anniverdary Update) you can control your phone from your pc, if you have a touch screen (for example, using a Surface Pro) you can use the touch screen connecting your usb cable.

Sold my dock to cash generator lol, £15, bloody gimmick rubbish.

With Anniversary Update you can use the Connect app thru wireless to connect to your phone ( Actually you your phone to the PC) and control it with the Keyboard and mouse of the PC. If you don't want the continuum feature you just have to go in the display setting/advance and select to mirror screen.

I too miss the functionality offered by MyMobiler. It is available on Android but not W10m.
