Does it happen via data or WiFi?
Or both?
Did u verify that they didn't sync by going to desktop site to actually see if they didn't actually sync?
Is it all Google accounts, or just certain ones....
contacts, gmail, voice, pictures, books... etc?
Worse case, sign out and resign in to see if helps

From time to time I have problems with contacts not displaying the pictures and/or numbers etc.
I clear the data for the "Contacts Storage" in Apps and then re-sync. Maybe you could try that and see what happens - Just make sure that you can correctly see your contacts in Gmail on your PC or laptop first and they are backed up!

This sync error occurs both for mobile data and Wifi.
And the sync errors only for contacts. Gmail, browser, photos, and calendar successfully synchronized.
I have tried to sign out then sign in again, but not works, still unable to sync for contacts.
Thanks anyway.

maybe your contac database at gmail was corrupted make another gmail account and copy your contacts to the new gmail and try your phone with the new gmail to sync.

I seem to be seeing after looking that I have the same issue. So I did a couple things like signing in and out and that didn't work. I backed up my contacts and deleted my contacts and that didn't work. However I did find something that works.
1. Export your contacts to SD card so you don't lose anything.
2. Go to Settings and find your Google Account and uncheck Contacts to sync.
3. Go to Settings/Apps slide over to all apps.
4. Go down to Contacts. Force stop and clear data.
5. Go to Contact Storage. Force stop and clear data.
6. Go back to your Google Account and recheck Contacts to sync.
At that point you should notice it takes a few seconds longer to sync but when finished showed it completed. If you lose any contacts actually in the Gmail remember you exported your contacts so you still have them.
To export contacts:
Go to Contacts, hit Menu, then click Import/Export and save to SD card.
I recommend exporting contacts on a reasonable basis anyhow uncase anything happens to the phone and/or Gmail so you still have a hard copy on your SD card. You can never be to sure.
I hope this helps and remember to thank me by clicking the thanks.
Edit: I'm also finding if you are running HaxSync that the problem happens more. May be a bug.
Great alternative to HaxSync is Facebook Contact Sync. Link Below:

Another great alternative to HaxSync is Facebook Contact Sync. I will update my above post with the Play Store link.

It happened for me also with Haxsync when I used the upload pics back to Google option. I unselected it, readded the Google account and it was fine again.

I can say without a doubt that HaxSync causes this problem. 3 phones now this has happened with and I can reproduce it.

[Q] sync is driving me nuts

the fist time i synced my facebook when taking my vibrant out of the box it worked fine, but i did a factory reset on my phone and now when i sync my facebook it only imports 192 people, (the same people everytime) i have around 600 contacts on fb and i dont know why it is doing this. i have tried everything in the world to get them to sync, i have removed samsung from facebook, did a hard reset and still the same 192 contacts. i have clicked the select contacts i wont to sync and it still gives me only the 192. someone please help before i throw my phone in the furnace at work. thanks alot in advance
Which facebook are u using ? Built-in or app from market ?
I noticed that they don't work together. I have enabled sync in built-in and disabled in app. Also there was a recent update to new version of facebook 1.3.1, maybe that fixed something......
mines doesn't sync AT ALL now... I can't even get pictures on my contacts or nothing

Same here. It's really pissing me off!
dang it.. i just did a factory reset as well and its not able to pull all my fb contacts. I'm using the app and the newest out that was just released. will report back if I figure it out
Mine doesn't sync neither. But you can manually set your contacts to your facebook contacts. click on contact> Media> Link contact> Get friends then you can scroll to whoever you want to sync
Mine is fine, I did a factory reset also. Did you guys go to "Accounts and sync" and added your facebook account there?
The fix for this I'd that you have to delete the samsung application from the main facebook (under setting I believe) and twitter using your computer.
Just wait I few minutes and sync from your phone...that worked for me.

no. It's probably Samsung's hacked-together TouchWiz that's causing the fail.
Could it be that you have your contacts app set to show only contacts with phone numbers? Try disabling that option and see if you have all of your FB contacts.
figured it out!
This was frustrating me too! But i figured it out:
Ok from contacts you press menu, then press the "get friends" button. Add your facebook account, or if it's already there select it. Now you can choose which individual facebook contacts you would like to add, or you can choose "select all"!

[Q] Can't figure this out for the life of me

Ok, so: my main goal is to load my contacts that I saved on an app called iDrive Lite from my iPhone 3GS.
I now have my Vibrant. I am able to load my contacts on to my Vibrant using the iDrive Lite app from the marketplace no problem. However, once the phone gets restarted...those contacts are gone. And they will not sync with Google, for whatever reason. So my next guess is to try and use an app called UIA Backup Contacts....which should let me back up my contacts that I have currently on my phone (after using iDrive to restore) and I should be able to save as a CSV and email to myself, and upload to my Gmail account.
Well, when I try doing this, it backs up to about 44%, and I get this error:
Sorry! The application Backup Contacts (process no.uia.android.backupcontacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_201009022121_no_uia_android_backupcontacts.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log. and all I can click is force close.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this? I don't want to manually add my contacts if I do not have to.
Apparently no one knows, 40 views and no replies.
Bump....
Can you export those to a pc then use that pc to add them into gmail via your desktop? Then they would be in your contacts.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Not sure...have not tried. Don't know how to do that either?
Ok so I figured out I can't export either. I try and it can't read my contacts when I try to import. Only imports my manually added ones.

there's the old fashioned way - covert to (iirc) .csv file and upload from your pc to google, and let google download them automatically or go do a sync manually (Menu > settings > accounts and synch)

I have tried both of these methods. The conversion didn't work, it didn't recognize the ones that I loaded from the iDrive Lite app. Only recognized the contacts I manually added.
Same with the syncing manually.
Additionally, I am unable to edit any of the contacts that I restored from iDrive Lite... it says:
Unable to edit SNS contacts on phone

Very strange.. but my other contacts that I sync with google or add manually, I can edit fine.

Do you still have your 3gs? If so do a google sync backup to the google server then they will transfer to your phone. I have been doing this since my G1 and i went through two iphones and another not to be mentioned phone.
No I do not still have my 3GS.
Can you load the file into outlook then sync with Google?

For all those "bumps" you could spent that time doing research. A quick visit to their site reveals there is an android app. Since youve trusted them with your contacts already...install it on your vibrant and restore them from the idrive cloud. http://www.idrive.com/idrive-lite/index.html

Ill eat crow. I forgot you have already done that. My fault.
Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it on your vibrant.

Nexus s calendar

Hi everybody howcome when I go in calendar and try to add a event it says you have no calendar? Can somebody help me. I download a calendar app from market gave me same message.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Did you create one from Google Calendar? Log onto your gmail account and create a calendar then sync it to your phone.
Lol sounds confusing. What about contacts I saved 2 but its not on my contacts howcome?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
It happened to me when I first got my Nexus S. Even though I linked gmail and the calendar wouldn't allow me to add an event until a few days after using the phone while synced to Google account.
Sync Google account and do a soft reboot and if it doesn't work right away, let it run for a couple days. Give that a try. Good luck.

I bought my wife the new Nexus S 4g today. The guy at the sprint store helper her set up the phone even thought I did not want him too. Oh well it is his job. Thing is she had never setup Google Calendar because she had a BlackBerry before that. So when I got home I setup her Google calendar but it is not syncing to her new phone. When I go to Setting > Accounts & Sync > her google account there is not a Calendar option. What do I need to do I don't want to have to reset her phone. Are there any other options? Thanks.
Odd. Calendar should be one of the defaults syncs. Have you tried running the calendar app and see if the gmail account shows up there?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I had tried running the calendar app but nothing shows up I even enter an event online thinking may bring it down but nothing. If you try to add an event on the phone it just says "You have no calendars". It is almost like the phone did not sync all the way to her account. I really don't want to reset her phone to factory default and have her set everything up again. She would not want to do that. She has already change the wallpaper all the screens downloaded apps, and changed ring tones.
I meant open the calendar app, press the menu button, press More then on Calendars and make sure the gmail account is listed there.
Also, this might be a stupid question but you're connected with Wifi or mobile network (3G, 2G, etc) right? Your phone signal bars should appear green if you're connected to Google's servers. If it's not green, you won't be able to sync.
I go to Calendar app > More > Calendars and there is nothing there, just have an Ok and cancel button. I have been on 3g, 4g, and wifi and nothing on any of them. Yes the the bars a green at the top.
I doubt you need to reset to factory so not to worry about that. Maybe you just have to wait a day or two. Either that or bring it back to the store and have them figure it out.
Might do that thanks. Hopefully it will work itself out.
You can also try rebooting the phone if you haven't already.
already tried that
Sent from HTC Evo CM7 with XDA Premium.
maybe you should try and get the stock calendar.apk and re-install it...???
Ok I talked to Sprint and they said that is easiest way was to make sure that the phone was backed up to Google and just do a Factory Wipe. Basically wipe the phone and start over. So I did and that fixed the problem. So anyone who gets a new google phone and does not have all the google apps setup do that before you get the phone activated. I hope someone finds a better way because that is a major oversight on googles part. But everything is working great now.

Are u facing it after an update to Gingerbread?
No I have not gingerbread and i will try to erase the account and re-add it... do i have to do a complete reboot or fast reboot?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I would go with normal reboot (ref : http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Fastboot), I don't think fastboot has to do with that - but I'm no expert, I could be wrong. Plus I didn't said this would undoubtedly fix your issue, but it's worth trying.
Deleting the account doesn't work. I can't delete it unless I go to factory settings...and that ain't worth it.

As a test I borrowed an iphone 4 off a colleague...setup his gmail using activesync m.google.com and guess what....He also gets authentication error. Syncs ok and then stops working. Works then stops working randomly.
I strongly believe this an issue with gmail side. But googling around I can't anything on other websites/forums about it.
In CM7 if you try too setup yahoo mail it gets (user name/password incorrect) but gingersence is fine. w i e r d
Unwanted sync
I have the opposite problem, and would appreciate some help.
I have Gingergread (Alien) on my Atrix 4g and when I set up my tree gmail accunts (one carries contacts, calendar and mail), the other two just mail.
When I did the set up , I had the chance to select which service does each account provide (of the three).
Now I just went and checked and the THREE accounts are doing sync for the three services.
Why could this happened, A gingerbread problem, an Alien Rom problem on wth,
I have deleted the accounts, except for the one linked to the phone account (which I cannot delete) and when I set them up again, I have no chance to select what type of sync I want,,, the three services are being synced for the three accounts.
Any idea?

[Q] How did Google get this info

Ok, so I got a new Nexus 4 and started it.
It asked me for my gmail account which I entered. However after the initial setup was completed I was shocked to find my phonebook contacts exactly the same as my old phone on my Nexus 4.
Does anyone know how did Google get hold of my phone contacts ?
Few things:
- The contacts I see on the phone are not gmail contacts. I have 400+ gmail contacts. The contacts I automatically got on the phone were the exact contacts in my previous Android phone (HTC HD2 rooted with ICS CM Nexus ROM)
- In my old phone I never synched contacts. I always had mail checked in sync settings. Calendar, contacts etc were not checked.
- I also own a Nexus 7 tab and that does not have any setting to store contacts.
- When I ordered the phone I selected the option to not link it to any google account.
Any idea ?
Well, phone contacts have been synced to your Google account for a long time now. You must have synced them at least once on your old phone.
Must have synced to your account before you turned off contacts sync.
It's possible that they're saved on your SIM Card.

While that is certainly a possibility but I am skeptical of that because
- As a practice I never sync anything except EMAIL on my gmail, hotmail, yahoo accounts. everything else is unchecked.
- My phone contacts are not synced with hotmail or yahoo but appear to be only on gmail even though I had the same settings across all accounts.
- There are contacts I have on my gmail which I didnt have on my previous phone. These are not present on the new Nexus 4.
you probably synced it on ur old phone when u flashed ics, since default is to sync when you got ur contacts back on ur old phone it probably didnt automatically
google didnt "steal" your info or anything unless you think of what they do with info as stealing
contact sync is actually awesome and really helpful, i wouldnt see this as a bad thing if i were u but everyone has their own opinions
thanks for the replies so far.
While I agree it is a good feature to have, but I use a third party app to achieve this or do export to SD and then import from SD to back up contacts.

When you initially setup an android phone it asks you if you want to backup and sync your data with Google's servers and you've must have done this before in the past. I also think contact sync is set to on by default its in settings>accounts>google>[email protected] I actually like the feature as all my apps and contacts are automatically downloaded to a new phone right at the start.
