[Q] Notification LED life - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any reason I shouldn't leave my notification LED on for extended periods of time? I would like to leave the LED on when I'm charging my phone.

It's not a high powered LED, so what would be the harm? I leave mine on when charging.

It's an LED. It will last longer than you, probably

LED Notification

I would like my notification LED's to take priority over the charging LED's. So when charging and an SMS comes in, the LED blinks rather than show solid amber (when charging) or solid green (when fully charged).
I have a Topaz (TD2).
Does anyone know of any solution please?

Nexus One text message notification light

I just got my Nexus One and I love it! One problem is that I'm using Handcent SMS and whenever I get a text, the blinker light doesn't work. Does the Nexus One have that option? My trackball lights up but not the "blinker" light.
if by blinker light you mean the LED on the top right corner then no, that LED is only used to show charging / battery status (Orange for charging, Green for finished charging or charging when the battery is at 90%, blink red when battery is at 10% or lower)

Led wont turn off

I just bought the droid 2 global and the green led wont turn off. Anybody know what to do?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
Does the Green LED just keep flashing or is it consistently on? If its just flashing, than it just means you have an unchecked notification from your email or social networking, doesn't it?
Also somewhat related, when I plug in/charge my Droid 2, the white LED right next to the plug lights up and doesn't turn off unless I disconnect my Droid 2. It's kinda annoying since the light is fairly bright and I charge my phone when I sleep, is there anyway to turn this off?

That light isn't able to be shut off that light is to tell you that your phone is getting power from the outlet. It's helpful if you aren't sure if an outlet is switched on or working or you can distinguish a bad charging cable from a good one.

Why not just use a black indelible marker to cover the white LED? It will still be visible, but won't be as bright.
Cheers,
Steve.

LED Notifications Light...

I have tested the LED light with handcent SMS, and I can get blue, green and red lights...I was wondering is there a LED light that comes on when the phone is on the charger??? When i plug the phone into the charger, there is no light...Is there supposed to be a light or the green light will come on when its fully charged???
I have noticed a green light on mine..but i haven't messed with the led setting in handcent.

It will only come on once you phone is done charging. While it is charging it stays off.

[Q] Note 3 LED Notification

Hi there,
I have SM-N900. I just installed Light Flow LED for the LED notifications.
Q: Is it harmful to set the app to blink the LED in the fastest mode with 100% LED brightness ???
Q: How much battery will be drained for this settings?
Thanks
but what is this application if the notification LED 'already in the system?
I don't like third party apps, but the major problem I have is the non customizable blinkers. I want the LED light to blink fast for the notifications
I installed light flow as it has a feature to blink led when the screen is on but that didn't worked. @asus_boy it does effects the battery life.

There is no harm in letting the LED work. I've been using Light Manager ever since it supported Note 3 and nothing have happened and won't. A LED is a pretty solid kind of hardware, it really takes a lot for it to break. The only thing I can imagine to break it is if you make it even brighter than it's supposed to be, and you can't do that with Light Manager. So, as long as you don't crank up the voltage you're fine.
Hope it answered your question.

A: Same as any light source, Increasing the Brightness and Increasing the time it is on, Will wear out the LED, Will you see the effects, Possibly not! LED has about 10 years life span (EASY) with around 30,000 - 100,000 hour depending on the LED type.
So to answer your question in Short - Yes it will cause harm in the long run, But nothing you may ever notice in the period you have the phone.
Q: How much battery will be drained for this settings?
A: I could honestly not tell you, Depending on the number of notifications, the time the LED is on for etc.
Will all add the possible lifespan of the battery before a charge.
I use the same application, and i have done since day 1 owing , I can easily get a full day out of my device, Heavy usage. Lots of notifications, Lots of game play, Display time and heavy CPU Usage.
Personally i think you will be okay
Thank you very much for your kind replies.
Thanks
