Another ghost Samsung App upgrade notification - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

So till this morning I had one update notification in Samsung App, that is Polaris Office: I don'upgrade this one cos this version has issues with JB.
This afternoon I got a n upgrade notification from Samsung Push that has upgraded Samsung App, and since this upgrade I now have 2 upgrade notification, but when I go to the installed list of apps I can see that only Polaris Office has an upgrade.
I have tried many other installed apps (the hubs, sky go, ...) with jo avail.
Anyone knows which is the ghost app that needs update?

nope...

Same problem for me.
I see a red circled "1" in the Samsung App Icon. It appeared just after updating the app "Samsung Apps"app itself. Shortly it became a "2", but after updating AllShareCast Dongle S/W it came back to "1".
So there's actually another ghost app (that it's neither Polaris Office nor AllShareCast Dongle S/W), notified but hidden and ineluctably elusive...
(crazy idea: maybe it's the "Samsung Apps" itself that notifies it's self-update status even if having been already self-updated... sort of an endless loop... )

That worked for me too!!!
I didn't disable it in the past (and did never use it either). Anyway, following your hint, I uninstalled the updates of AllShare Play, and after that I saw it magically appear in the "downloaded" page of Samsung apps (it wasn't there before) with an "update" icon.
After updating it the "1" red icon disappeared and now I'm cleaned and feeling immaculate again...
(Certainly, in Samsung Apps, there's a weird way to manage the "update notifications" of pre-installed and never used apps by Samsung ... )

Just sorted out my ghost notification. It was the video hub which wasn't listed in the available updates. Opening the video hub started the update and now that annoying little red 1 has gone.

Games Hub was the culprit for me........
Opened it and it said there was an 'Update', downloaded the update and the little red '1' on Samsung Apps was gone!! Thanks so much to OP for raising the problem on here and for the subsequent ideas to sort it ('Thanks' given)! It may be only a little thing, but was driving me potty!!
Cheers, Caz

Acer Iconia Enhancement Update

I just put this update on my A500. My question is - does anyone know what was updated. I read the info on the screen but there was nothing that gave an explanation.
It updates the tool that searches for OTA updates.
However, take a look at the picture in the market.
It clearly shows that the device is running ICS!!!
Acer is weird. So I got an update notice for an app from "google play", and installed an update of an app for update, what the hell.

Since it was the OTA updater being updated... it makes sense it was pushed through Google Play.
I saw this app two days ago but it says that it's not supported by my device. Well today I've updated manually my market app to 3.5.15 and suddenly this application update pops up on my notification bar. ? I don't know what is it for but I didn't manage to run it after this update.

A Strange App appeared in my installed apps

Hi guys,
i have a strange app in my google play installed app list.
I attached a screenshot so you can see.
It seems in some way connected to the Polaris Office, when I launch it Polaris lauch, when I disable Polaris via applications panel the Open Button in the Google Play panel disappears. (It is "Apri" in italian in this screenshot)
Some of you guys is experiencing this ?
I am not rooted and I have not sideloaded any app, always used Android Market...
Any clues ?

Happened to me as well, I think this should be reported to Google and Infraware ASAP.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565900
I'm un-rooted running totally stock and I had the app show up also. Not sure what it is, but I know I haven't installed anything I do not recognize.
Can confirm this as well on ARHD 3.1.0
I'm running US stock rooted and don't see anything like that on mine. It looks Korean though.
Maybe it's something the Polaris Office app or another stock app fetched recently. My Polaris Office app is not allowed access to the Internet.
I have this too. How do we investigate this further? I've reported it on the market but not comfortable having some unknown app which can not be uninstalled...
I also have this app and when I open it it runs the fille explorer in polaris office

This scenario sounds plausible, but it makes me wonder now why I don't have it. I am on stock and have uninstalled none of the prepackaged apps.
It's an app that is installed somehow onto the tablet. It is not uninstallable (using normal methods). It is somehow linked to Polaris Office.
If you root your phone, install Titanium Backup and then uninstall Polaris Office, then the app will disappear.
Strangely, I got this appear today for first time on my WW TF101 B60. I went back to stock ICS 403 using NVFlash and it said immediately after login that there was an update (from ASUS), which i installed. Upon login, I opened Google Play and saw this app for first time. I then install Titanium Backup (After rooting) and uninstalled Polaris office and the app went away.
I do not know where this app comes from, because I have reset it again with nvflash, checked market and it wasnt there, then applied ASUS update and checked market and still not there, even though Polaris office is still installed.
Weird
Hmm.. I'm stock and unrooted as well (always have been) with all updates, just checked my apps and I do NOT have this app in my list.
I wonder where you guys are getting it from..
Stock, unrooted B40 (is and always has been) and I have this app on my list in Google Play.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the new renamed Market failing to identify apps correctly.
I suppose it is a bug yes!
It just disappeared from my installed Apps.
yea i think its similar to this

Google Play does not show all installed apps

When selecting My Apps on Google Play web site I can only see half of my apps.
I have about 250 apps installed from Google.
You able to fix market links using Titanium backup?

i encountered this problem once...
i forgot how i fixed it, probably by rebooting or logging in different google account...
Try to delete data of Google play in setting - application
then restart phone
This is on the Google Play web site, not on the phone.
I just noticed this problem too.
If you install apps via apk (eg. applications you got on xda) that Google has no record of on the play store, they won't show up.
Hey guys,
I'm having the same issues with my stock Galaxy S III. A couple of hours ago, I became 4 fresh devices directly from the Authorized dealer here where I live. I wanted to update them and set them up properly for my co-workers. I've installed 4.1.1 on all 4, with kernel 3.0.31-256827. Everything went smooth on all devices and I was really fascinating what a wonderful device that is. Afterwards I've created 4 Gmail accounts for all of them (from the same IP address) to install the needed apps from GooglePlay. But one, somehow, someway didn't show any pre-installed apps in GooglePlay, such as GoogleMaps, Gmail, Google+, which should appear, because they're installed same procedure in each case (every device has got the same versione, same firmware,..).
..to focusing back on little-vince's post;
I hope that's not true.
I don't know the way these apps were installed or cooked into, but 3 of 4 phones went smoothly in my case.
All 4 were before the update on the same version, which I did not wrote down. The problem also is, that on another device I had the problem to update the apps via GooglePlay which were shown. There basically was an *update* sign, but when I clicked it there was the text that it's not available in my area.
I somehow think, that the problem is somewhere in the language/locales.
I've switched between the default language on the phone, rebooted it, and somehow I made it work on the second device to run updates,
but on the first device, not even a single installed app shows up, which is funny :silly:
I've also tried to clear cache, wipe everything, factory reset etc.., but it didn't worked out.
If you find a solution, I'd be glad to know.
Sir, you stated Galaxy S III, you do know this is the GNote >>Galaxy Note GT-N7000. Unless you are ref to the GNote 7000.
But I glad you used the Search button to bring this thread up...from June - Sept.
I had this problem once and it was because I changed the screen resolution (lcd density). Google play understands this modification as a "not compatible device", so some apps doesnt´t show at "My apps".
Before that I tried a lot of solutions, like cleaning the google play cache, etc., but nothing worked.

[Q] Not able to update pre installed apps

Hello
I've just received my Nexus 4 and updated to 4.2.2 and associated it with a Google account however I'm unable to updated all the pre installed apps such as Talk, Google, YouTube, etc. The 'My apps' section doesn't shows any pre installed apps. Does this means I have to go in each and every app page and hit update from there
?
Thanks

It's really a one time thing with each pre-installed app that has an update available in the market. If you go to "Play Store > My Apps > All" they will likely be grouped at the bottom of this list.

Thanks for reply. I did looked into the 'All' list but it shows only the apps that I've installed via Play Store not the apps built in. I clearly remember my GN2 showed updates even for the pre installed when I switched it on for the first time.
So is this a normal behaviour in Nexus devices, and if yes, I'll actually need to open the app's respective page and then hit 'Update' from there?
Thanks
OK I don't know what happened, the updates started to show. Thanks all.

How long did it take before this happened? My wife's new phone isn't offering updates to the pre-installed apps, although if I search for each one individually they have updates available. It's been roughly 24 hours and they still aren't showing up. Thanks.

Roughly, 3 hours. Play Store started showing when I switched to a WiFi connection. I guess, it depends upon the Internet speed.
It's because a auto backup feature. To reinstall previous bought apps etc to your new phone.
It goes away after a little bit

[Q] Samsung apps offering updates for apps that aren't installed

Hi there,
I have a question about the Samsung Galaxy S5 which I wonder if anyone else has noticed...
Basically I got a message from Samsung Apps store telling me that I have updates available for some preinstalled/built-in apps. These are:
* S Note
* Optical Reader
* S Translator
* Scrapbook
However here is the interesting part. These applications are not installed on my phone! At least they don't seem like they are. For instance, they are not under the Apps menu and they don't show under Application Manager -> All.
Moreover, if I update Scrapbook then (and only then) the app is shown under the Application Manager. What is even more interesting is that if I click on the application under Application Manager, it then gives me the option to uninstall the application, instead of the option to uninstall updates which is what I really get with built-in apps such as Gmail, S Health, etc.
So if I uninstall Scrapbook after I installed it (agian, the available option is to uninstall the entire app - ot the updates as if it was a built-in app), the app disappears from my phone (as expected), and then it shows back as an available update for a preinstalled/built-in app! How weird is that?!
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Try opening Samsung Apps, then select the option Purchased under Settings. There under Updates I can see the apps available for updates with in fact does not exist in my Android phone. I wonder if anyone else can replicate this issue?
I thought those were all installed previously, maybe I don't remember but it's not such an bad thing. They want you to try their apps to get their experience. It's understandable considering they include their own app store and some apps preinstalled.

I have the same issue. I put it down to Samsung poor wording. It's a little annoying but I can live with it.

Actually they are NOT all installed previously, and the issue is that Samsung Store keeps bugging me to update them when in fact I don't want to install them. So this is not understandable at all...

Hah. in fact it just added two more apps under the "updates" tab. Samsung AllShare Cast Dongle S/W Update and NNL Fingerprint Passport.
VERY ANNOYING But I did what you suggested and disabled the auto updates.
I keep getting this happen to me too.

i wonder if it is because the apks are installed, but not activated at a system level....
i bet you the "bloat" is built into the stock ROM somehow....maybe that's why it is recognizing it as "update" rather than "install"
I find this annoying as well. My phone belongs to the company so I don't want to root it until there's a workaround for knox so I disabled or stopped a lot of Samsung apps. I'm still getting updates for them. I went on their support website and complained. I got a response. (A lame response, but at least a response.) I also complained to the Samsung app store. Complaining here is guaranteed to not make any difference. Complaining to Samsung might eventually make a difference if enough people do it.
I just disabled the Samsung store app since I could care less about Samsung's crummy store and their apps.
Same here - I went through and "updated" all of them before realising that they weren't even installed so I uninstalled them. Some of the apps were ones that were installed as standard on the S4 - so I'm guessing that they're apps that Samsung recommend you install.
Either way, it means that any *real* updates for apps that are only in the Samsung store rather than in Play won't happen now as I've disabled Samsung updates. Well done Samsung.
