According to the NokiaCareUS Twitter account, Microsoft is still planning to roll out an update for Windows Phone 8 smartphones this month (codenamed "Portico"). We've already had our unbranded HTC 8X receive and apply an update, which was pinned as Microsoft simply testing its new OTA update process.
The update itself is expected to fix issues that many are experiencing, including random handset resets. It was first revealed that the update will be coming in December last month by All Things D at the WSJ. In addition to system performance and stability improvements, Microsoft will also be implementing SMS drafts and call rejection functionality to name but a handful of features that are on their way.
This is merely a confirmation that Microsoft is still working on preparing the backend systems for a December rollout, which would wrap up 2012 nicely. The question of course remains, how even and universal will this update be? That remains to be seen. But going by the Tweet, is sounds more like this is a direct Microsoft patch with Nokia having little to do with the update.

This has been a hell of a past 3 months for Android. Google's partnership teams were busy at work all year to pull off this home run: the Hero, the Droid, and now this ereader -- with 3 different manufacturers and 2 lines of business. Hard to see MS Windows Mobile catching up to the influence of Android -- open source, widgets, app store with momentum, rapid adoption within one year's time.
In one year, MS can barely get a half-step upgrade to an OS that only remained a contender thanks to HTC and XDA devs doing the heavy lifting bringing finger-touch navigation to the obsolete tap-a-tiny-box excuse for an OS MS put forth even after iPhone changed the game.

Out of the box updates..

Just unboxed this gold beauty

And from my reading it seems like most people are on the a newer update than what I'm seeing (mmb29p)
Android security paths - January 1 2016
Was there another Feb or even March update? I check a few times but besides the few updates that came upon boot I have nothing else.
mhc19i is the latest update
Factory images can be found here. It says there were 3 updates since MMB29P. I am still on MMB29P myself, as I just received my 6P today.
You'll eventually get it, you just have to wait for them to beam it to your phone. The "check for updates" page is basically useless. You could also flash the update manually if you don't want to wait.

Sony confirms Nougat update!

Sony has unveiled its plans to release 7.0 update for its top devices, and that includes X Performance. Although an obvious thing, it's good to hear from company, and know that it's paying attention.

Mi A1 did not update timely. Is xiaomi cheating us?

Hi all,
Android one mean they give update firstly and timely for mi a1
But now we didn't receive android 8.1 stable yet, but if we see nokia even nokia 5 got android 8.1 before the month. Guys tell me your ideas. Is xiaomi cheating us?

What will you gain from 8.1 anyways?
You already have the latest update patch and 8.0 to 8.1 is nothing but a very incremental upgrade
8.1 will be released this month anyways so, just keep waiting for a few more weeks and you'll get it
Just remember you paid 200-250$ for this phone. Not even 1000$ phones get updates this quick
But think nokia 5 &6 cheeper than this it got uodate timely
one thing I would like to ask is, is your phone not working without the update? it's stable and works fine with 8.0.! there is no need to push and ask for 8.1, let it just come at Xiaomi pace. it will eventually, just a lil patience.
And they haven't cheated, they will give the update , just a lil slower.
Yes.
I would appreciate 8.1, lets just wait. Lets be happy that we will even get it.
Do not begin to open threads like on en.miui please.

Update delayed if country is changed.

I bought realme 2 pro in flipkart bbd and brought it to nepal and since then it has had only one update. As seen in the attached screenshots my build ends in 06 but the latest build ends in 08. Its nearly time for new update but i am not getting even the old one.
Is this only with me or anyone else is also facing the same problem.

Same problem
I have to go back to indian region to update my Realme 2 pro. Some of the Realme 2 pro user told me to use VPN but I haven't yet got the latest November update too.
Use express vpn and change your region to india for update , try clearing data, cache of software update before use vpn
Works for other color device , try it
I got the update
Even if realme said i wouldnt get update, i got one but the annoying notification on enabling accessibility services is not fixed. I git the update normally btw... ??
