samsung galaxy camera available in france for £281 after cash back from samsung - Galaxy Camera General

this samsung galaxy camera is available in france for £281 today!!! amazon france is cheaper than the uk and they all deliver for about 7.5£ to the uk from my experience of buying from amazon.de previously. the 281£ is after getting the samsung france 100euro cash back available to only those in france. So we in the UK are getting ripped off as most places it is 399£ and a bit less on amazon. Was just about to buy this now from amazon but cancelled purchase after seeing the amazon france price and cash back got pissed off as am not willing to pay nearly 120£ more than those in france for exactly the same camera.
Will wait now till prices crash here to the same level as in france.. see link yourself http://www.amazon.fr/Samsung-Galaxy...LA6I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1355314020&sr=8-2 and the cash back in france http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/imag...cs/mix/page-produits/2012_ODRGALAXYCamera.pdf
exchange rate used for calculation £1= 1.23777euros as per todays rate. amazon france price when i saw it now is 449 euros.
uploaded the same to youtube so that the video gets picked up by the tags along with other samsung galaxy camera videos. Hopefully the prices in the UK will fall too like in france and people interested in buying this may save 100euros like in france or there abouts. I have written to samsung UK by uploading my review on the samsung galxy camera webpage but guess it wont get posted there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lvzyu0CNyAQ

samsung customer service and public relations link
am linking the samsung public relations and customer service link http://www.samsung.com/uk/info/contactus.html for the uk. I have already written to them asking why as a customer in the UK i am being asked to pay £120 more than in france for the same product due to the lack of a samsung cash back scheme.
If others write to them at the public relations contact link then we might get the samsung cash back scheme here in the UK too like in france. So please take a few mins to write to them at the link above in case you are interested in buying the camera and want the same 100euro cash back in the the UK too.
my play list on youtube for this camera is here http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGQqgL4AHFjKXgDtSJU7kQf_do0zLG4QN&feature=edit_ok with about 40 videos on it presently which prospective buyers might find useful

Just get my buddle in France for a very good price :
http://www.darty.com/nav/achat/phot...alaxy_cam_blanc_kit_chargeur_et_batterie.html
With the 100 euros back from Samsung you get the galaxy cam, 16gig memory card, one extra battery with the charger for 350 euros.

wow, Samsung is quite unfair in the UK.
in the Netherlands you get €100 cashback and a 1GB prepaid SIM if you get a galaxy camera, and in the UK you only get about €65 and you have to buy both a camera and a phone.
they are really trying to discourage people from claiming it though.
the promotions site, registration form, and tech support all say something different, and if the form doesn't print right away you have to fill it in again(I had to do it 5 times)

Bought the Samsung WB850F camera instead. It is also a Wi-Fi camera with remote view and mobile link apps. Similar zoom lens and sensor but not touch screen and not android but support for android phones is there. Half price now on amazon at £175 plus you get £50 Samsung cash back, so effectively costs £125 and £260 less than the Samsung Galaxy camera with same sensor and zoom lens and remote view and mobile link apps. So opted for the cheaper option and will tether it to my Samsung Galaxy note.

Price dropped by a whopping 10000 INR in India

Yes, thats true. The Indian SGT (GSM unlocked) which launched on 10th Nov, 2010 at 38,000 ($833) INR is now retailing at 28,000 INR ($614) on flipkart dot com.
I bought on launch at 38k from the same retailer. Never expected to fall the price this soon (barely 2 months). Feeling cheated. Planning to write to Samsung India about my feelings.
yes am getting it for 27k~ inr even in the samsung showrooms...was thinking to buy it..are u using the tab as a primary device or a secondary one ??
ruenigma,
In India the telcos did not offer any voice/data bundle plan with Galaxy TAB?
For me over at Singapore, I bought my Galaxy TAB for SG$248 (US$193) with the signed-up SG$56 (US$43.60)
(SG$44.10 (US$34.35) in actual under my corporate plan) voice/12GB data plan for 2 years contract.
Beside that, I also getting 1 Samsung bluetooth headset and 1 Sansdisk 16GB Class 4 Micro-SD card for free.
I even enjoy the 100st customer to win a pair of tickets for free fashion show and Korean pop star Seven mini live concert.
@Dare{D}evil using it as a secondary. Can't pocket it, so can't be primary. I carry a handset just for voice and text. Tab is used exclusively for data needs at home and in office. Never regretted the device itself, it is just the timing that I messed with.
@NewForce In India they do have data plans bundled with SGT but they don't carrier lock it for the same. Means you can wall out of a plan anytime (you may have to pay a marginal penalty).
Samsung India provided BT, carrying case and a car charger free of cost after I purchased the device. The online retailer also shipped the device with a 2GB sdcard and another BT.

I bought it for Rs.36500, feel extremely cheated because it's been over a month now but no sign of carry case, bt and charger. Samsung says it's out of stock and they will send it whenever. You are planning to write to them, what good that's gonna do?
Same here in the Philippines
SInce Indian Rupee and Philippine Peso are virtually 1:1, I have a sense of the scale you are talking about.
At launch, it cost around 35k to 40k here. Now, bnew and carrier unlocked can be had for as low as 27k, with weeks-old 2nd hand units going for 25k with screen protector and nice cases.
I got mine with a bundled data plan, and although the price is plunging, im still enjoying it very much (best portable media and movie player in the market tofay) so no worries
Even I feel bad that I bought it too soon. After I got it, Samsung bundled the case, charger & mapmyindia navigator.
Samsung has sent me a leather case, a bluetooth headset & the car charger later.
I still don't have the mapmyindia software.
I guess early adopters have negatives too. I guess they dropped the prices after the iPad was launched much cheaper than expected.
If you got 2gb sd card bundled with SGT, just check that card for mapmyindia installation file. This card comes with mapmyindia bundled

Play.com (UK) - Price and Order date now showing

Pfffffttt ... what the!
I've been keeping an eye on Amazon UK and Play UK for the Galaxy tab, well Play now have a price and release date for the 16GB version ..... are you sitting down?
£899.99 Free delivery Due for release on 04 July 2011.
Edit: The spec isn't right either.
899 GBP for 16GB???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No way ... too damn expensive ...
They are either mistaken or they're taking the piss, Amazon.de are advertising it at EUR 637,98, that's about £563.
I've just emailed Play.com asking why the price is so high and they've just responded with:-
Dear Customer,
We are pleased to inform you that 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 / Dual Core 1GHz / 16GB / 10.1 inch Touch Screen / Android 3.0 Honeycomb / Tablet' is now available to order. Click on the link below to pre-order now!

At that rate it would be better to order from Amazon.de although Amazon UK may announce a price soon? What are the implications of buying a German unit, it is just classed as a European unit, warranty wise etc?
Yes,
in this regard EU is treated as one so id does not really matter where you buy.
The only difference might be a posting cost.
I have bought stuff from Pixmania (FR) when I was living in the UK with delivery to Poland. (no problems). I have just bought (now being in Poland) Sapphire Xtreme HD 5850 - also no problem.
So... if amazon.de is first to send them away you do not risk anything.
In the past I bought Vaio form Sony Outlet in Holland - fine as well.
Having that in mind... I wonder if Apple isn't breaking the law (EU law) by offering only 12 months of warranty???
As far as I know all manufacturers selling their products in EU are supposed to offer 2 yr. warranty at minimum (no less).
And again on a different note... I am quite grateful for EU being regarded by manufacturers as one country/market. In the past we would wait ages in separate countries for lunch of devices, prices, updates, etc... it is without a doubt better than before we were all completely separate.
I called Play.com and they are looking into it to see if it is a pricing error. They will email me when they know more.
In the mean time, we need to find the best place to get this device in the UK, even if that means ordering from elsewhere in Europe.
I will let you know ass soon as they are available in PL. With Polish Zloty loosing ground because of Greece it might actually work out cheaper for you .
At the moment you are looking at approx. 625 EURO (predicted price, dont know about delivery).
Another issue is, although Samsung will honor warranty in Europe, if the product is faulty when it arrives I will need to send it back to the retailer and they might be abroad. Postage and a language barrier might cause some hassle.

That was my concern with getting stuff from USA (Motorola does not have a worldwide warranty and again - if you buy in USA, you only have 12 months ).
With buy in in EU it is not a problem - buy in Poland, UK, Greece - and you can get it repaired or exchanged through your local representative/service/etc.
It is very nice that it works this way.

Actually I think that was just an automated email as I'd signed up to be notified of availability, it can't be the response to my WTF email re the price on their site.
Folks, thanks for your input ref European warranty.
Thanks for the heads-up up on that, but that price must be a provisional one, much as happened with the initial pricing of the GS 2, which saw its price gradually drop down as its release approached to a much more reasonable level.
I have had my "hands on" today with Transformer.
As I treat this as "tablet for a while" I also want to be able to sell it easily in future and loose as little as possible.
SG 10.1 as much as it is sexy is too limited.
My choice will be Transformer 16GB + keyboard dock - and than I will wait for Kal-El or something else (light, with sd slot that plays mkv and other formats and has sexy look and great batt. life) - this will keep me going for a while.
At the moment I am only thinking... buy now (and use netbook as well) or wait till netflix app will show up as it should have a better price by that time... (I hope non of you think it - netflix app - will not show up).

You're most likely right about it being a provisional price, but what happens if a buyer orders it at the over inflated price and it then reduces by say £300, would they get it at the reduced price?
I'm weary of Play, they tried to pull a fast one on me a few months ago.

If I recall correctly Play don't charge your card until the item is ready to post. I've found they are rubbish when emailing, so I just call them and they are fine on the phone.

The model on Play has the 10.1v specs, not the 10.1 specs -- be careful.
Right, I received the correct reply from Play.com, ref my enquiry as to why the price is so high on their web site. They're investigating.

Yes that's what I did with the Transformer, I do prefer to be able to walk in and get it sorted straight away.
Called up Play.com and now they are looking into the specifications.
It probably didn't help that I got pissed off at the guy because he was giving me generic answers, so when he asked me how I knew their website was wrong I said I work in the IT sector and carry out the necessary research rather than spend all day talking to customers in a monotone and boring voice.
A galaxy tab for a down to earth price...
When the Transformer wasn't widely available, Carphone Warehouse had it. I ordered and it came the next day. I returned it to my local CPW (because of a screen gap), they refunded my card straight away.
Thinking about it though, the Galaxy Tab is expensive compared to the $499 that the US is being charged...so tempted to order it from Amazon.com using viaddress. I haven't used them before, but I'm thinking worst case scenario, I have to pay import duty so that'd put it near the price of Amazon.de - but if it works out, I could get one for about £350. Either way i'd probably get it in a week...

Well, here in our local market prices are near to it with international 2 years of warranty which I've bought my Note II by just going to cell-phone sellers' street.

Don't think it's impossible. And see Amazon's offer:

Possible to order this tablet from US to India?

I am still interested in this tablet but the price in India is completely ridiculous, around 47000 (almost $800) for the 32 GB 3G version. I thought Samsung might lower it over time but the price hasn't budged in 9 months.
I am interested in the 16GB Wifi version which seems to be available for around $350 refurbished on Amazon. I was wondering if any Indian posters have ordered it through them and what the final price is after shipping, taxes etc.
Online / store price the best that I have seen is INR 45,500...
But I agree on both counts
1. Price has certainly proved resistant to lowering
2. Its expensive (currently picked up an ipad air 16 gb for 36k at amazon india)
Have not ordered this from US as I will prefer to buy it local because
1. Warranty and repair service - god forbid something goes wrong with the tablet, doubt samsung would honor the warranty of another country and am not confident on the situation of parts and all for a model not sold here locally...service in India stinks!
2. Custom duties - we have some crazy custom duties typicall plus add the cost of shipping and chances are whatever savings in the price you get will be nullified by the cost of having it delivered in your hands.
Me, even if I could accept the second.l, cannot accept the first as I don't want to end up with an expensive paper weight.
Purely my own thoughts, yours may of course vary.

I agree with your points which is why I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of ordering from India especially with respect to point 2. If the savings are sufficient I would be prepared to risk the lack of warranty.
Samsung has really missed the boat with pricing on this tablet. They could have easily launched the 16GB wifi version for 35. And it's baffling that they have refused to reduce the price. The Note 3 which was released at the same time is now 38 and the GS5 which was released 6 months later is 35. Hopefully once they launch the newer version, the price on the 2014 will drop sharply.
i just received mine yesterday. i bought it via amazon.
It was used( open box Like new). And really is just new unit. But there is little bump on back side near samsung logo.( I searched on google and many new unit also have same issue. and anyway its not noticable.)
Price was $387 (including fast shipping in 2-5 days). It converted into 24263 inr (always place order in USD).
It shipped via fedex. custom duty is little less than 15%.+ fedex fees and service tax. Totally i paid 4268 inr as duty.
Its super easy just make everything clear with seller.
I hope it helps you.
Thanks. So it works out to around 29000. I have to say that's quite tempting even given the warranty issues.
Yeah that's the reason i got one.

UK availability?

Hi has anyone got any news on when the Axon 7 will be available in the UK? I've got money burning a hole in my pocket and I've wanted this phone since it was announced back in May...
I've seen on Twitter that it could be a Q4 release in the UK but what does that mean? Sept, Oct, Nov??? I've also seen on Amazon.es (Spanish Amazon) that it is currently available for 449 euros. How come its not available in the UK if it is available to order from the Spanish Amazon site and possibly other EU sites?
Its been available in the USA since June hasn't it?
Also is there any confirmation on pricing because again amazon uk are selling it for £458!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ZTE-Axon-7...TF8&qid=1473928341&sr=1-1&keywords=zte+axon+7
An astonishing mark up on the US price which is $399 if I'm not mistaken? Going on current exchange rates the Axon 7 should be about £300 but I've read it will be £359 but would love to know for sure...
I think only 60 were originally available in the UK, apparently it wasn't so much a sales drive as a pilot to be followed by a proper push - eventually...
The price difference is largely down to VAT, if you were to try to import one from the USA yourself (which isn't allowed, I've tried), it would be no cheaper.

Great, so the One Plus 3 is looking more attractive for UK customers right now because its already available and in stock and its for £329 which is £30 less than the Axon 7 how come both phones are $399 in the US??? - this makes no sense to me even taking VAT into account...
If only the OP3 had a 1440p screen, SD card slot, and front facing speakers...
ZTE are really messing up here IMO its almost like they don't want to sell the phone in the UK...

Also if only ZTE had half of OnePlus's distribution channels in the UK...
I was hoping to see the stock availability in the UK too, the 4GB+128GB version in particular, but it's very unlikely.
At least I can buy one during my China trip soon, the 4GB+128GB version only costs about 300 quid. I'd say that's a fair price to pay.

Despite being a 'pilot customer' and experiencing the often poor early software and non-existent support, and despite being a satisfied former OnePlus customer, I've no regrets in not getting the OnePlus 3 as the Axon 7 has such astonishing audio technology, both for recording and playback.
That phone on Amazon looks like a German import. I'd hang on for another week or so.
