Most specific Wi-Fi monitoring app (more specific than "OS Services")? - Networking

Hi! My Wi-Fi won't turn off if my phone is asleep. Trying to diagnose what it's keeping it on. Used My Data Manager, but it is too vague:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
OS Services could be anything! Any really specific, maybe down to the process name, monitoring apps?
Thanks in advance,

Did you check the settings to turn off Wi-Fi when not in use? Go under settings, Wi-Fi, menu key.

I did! I have a whole separate thread on fixing that issue; see it here!
I may have found app called Network Counter. I'll run it overnight and see what's really accessing the WiFi.
Thanks for the help, mate.

News Widget Stops Updating

It works for a while and stop updating on CNN news. Doing manual updates just has the loading icon going forever with "updating..." at the bottom.
Does everyone have this problem or found a fix?
Anyone know?

more information is needed, what ROM you are on, are you pre-OTA T-Mo update/post-OTA T-Mo update, custom ROM. Have you tried removing the Widget and re-adding it? have you tried uninstalling the application and downloading it.
Stock ROM. Removed, added. Did a factory reset a while back for another reason, it started working for a while and stopped again.
No clue on the update status...

If you've done all that then i don't know what to tell you.
I do not follow CNN news at all. And i'm not allowed to mention why since cell phones are not political.

I just wanted to know how Google uses the Wi-Fi optimization to save battery. I ticked the box to save battery.

My guess is that they are setting Wi-Fi to scan less often for available networks. Devs have been making that tweak fire a long time.

Yes
Are you sure? I googled this and so far the conclusion seems to point that it disable Wi-Fi connection and only wake up periodically. This breaks apps that requires constant data connection, like Google voice.

[Q] "Recommended Shortcuts" with headset plugged in

Does anyone know how to get rid of this (in the notification dropdown)? I assume we'll need to wait for someone to create a mod for it but just checking to make sure I'm not missing a setting/option somewhere.
Thanks
I found no way. .. Can't wait for Slim Bean or AOKP to come on s4 so much crap.... It's depressing. ..

thanks....I figured we'd have to wait.

Try disabling the notification setting for the page buddy service. (Go to Application manager, find the page buddy service, and uncheck notification).

Expose earphone settings pagebuddyservice
I was able to expose the hidden menu in settings using Nova Launcher. I created shortcut->Activity->Settings->PageBuddy
Now I can enable/disable all or just earphones, dock or roaming on my AT&T S4.

One of your apps is keeping your phone awake. You need to check your wake usage to determine which app is causing the wakelock. Facebook and Google now are some of the biggest culprits. There are several battery saving threads here that will help you save battery.

You use greenify and greenify all suspicious apps.
I agree but its always good to know your problem apps.
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
I don't use greenify

Then use it! It's a great app.

Do you have any 3rd party launchers/widgets installed ? You may want to look into that list of apps first. I would also uninstall lesser known apps first, one by one, and check which one caused the issue
I actually did that, no widgets, no launcher just the page you see in the screen shots, no lesser known apps, nothing fixes it.

I'm not sure if this would work, but try disabling Nearby Device Scanning from settings and see if this fixes the issue.
I used to get that when the profile sharing thing was enabled, can't remember what it is called exactly but it was a Samsung thing that lets you share your gallery to family members etc. I debloated my phone though so can't remember the name exactly.
I don't get the error when I'm connected to WiFi only get the error when I'm not connected to any data or when I'm on 4g.
