[MANDATORY] RULES FOR DEVELOPMENT - 7 Mozart Windows Phone 7 Development

THIS FORUM IS ONLY FOR RELEASING AND DEVELOPING ROMS AND KERNELS.
SOME GUIDES REGARDING S-OFF AND FLASHING WILL BE ALLOWED BUT MOST WILL BE LINKED IN A REFERENCE THREAD. "COLLECTIONS", "REFERENCES" AND "LIBRARIES" BELONG IN GENERAL SECTION.
Try to keep the development forum CLEAN! No offtopic posting and no questions.
Use the report button in an offending post to let us mods know we need to take action. Dont take matters into your own hands!!!
Sources need to be posted for all kernels!!!
You need to use TAGS like [ROM] or [KERNEL] and so on as used in all dev forums throughout XDA
Any disputes between developers should be handled by pm. No public posting in a dev thread regarding these matters
Rom issues should be discussed within their respective threads
Thread titles should ALWAYS coincide with ROMS ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD!!! No advance notification of incoming ROM through thread title. A changelog for the yet unreleased Rom can be included in the OP or in another post CLEARLY MARKED as EXPECTED CHANGELOG
Posting in the development section means automatic ACCEPTANCE of the above Rules
All posts that are NOT about ROM development, or development in general will be closed or deleted and posters that will choose to disregard the previous guidelines will be infracted.

ROM Discussion

ROM Discussion thread
After seeing the amount of offtopic posts, some of them by me in development threads. I thought about creating a rom discussion thread like I've seen in other sections. While this isn't limited to just a single rom. Like the discussion threads in other sections. You'll be able to talk and discuss about features, additions, tweaks and additions for all roms in the development section
So, I'll open up this thread. In hope that it won't go much more off-topic than posts have in the development section.
Enjoy!

[IMPORTANT] Please Read Carefully

I don't wish to spread spam over here, but if any member thinks that my thread is spamming this forum, he is free to report it to the mods. If they think that this is spam, they may close it. I'm writing this in a good spirit for all the noobs (as well as the members).
We have lately seen that many spamming threads had been created in the general section by noobs. So we directed them to the FAQ, compiled by recognized contributor ronnieryan. Now we have been gifted with a Q & A forum for our phone. Most probably, the noobs will post new questions in Q & A forum, like if they have soft-bricked their phone, or they want to know the process of rooting, etc. This forum is indeed intended for Q & A, but it should not be flooded with all the common questions. I propose the noobs and members first refer to the FAQ, and see if the solution to their question is there or not. If it is not there, then they may post their questions there in the FAQ or in the Q & A forum. Even if our general section, intended for discussion, will now be free of most spams, we surely don't wanna see threads with titles like 'how to use Odin', 'help, stuck in logo',etc. I hope everyone will support me in my proposal.

Device Forum Rules (Please Read before posting)

In this thread we will provide a short FAQ for your stay on this forum. Please read thoroughly and act accordingly.
While most that is needed to know is pointed out in the FORUM RULES, history shows that some points of these rules are not clearly understood by some users and others leave room for interpretation. With these FAQs we give you some additional guidelines how the forum for this device is moderated.
Who are the moderators for this forum?
The team leaders for the Tablets, Moto, ZTE, Lenovo and Wearables team are coal686 and Perseus
Moderators are: LenAsh, Fobos531, murtaza02
How do I contact the moderating crew?
While you are free to contact any of us via PM, for moderating purposes it is much more advisable to use the report system. If you do that, your request reaches ALL moderators thus increasing the chance of a quick response to your request. If you PM a moderator, he or she does not know whether you have contacted others too, and therefore it is possible that your request is handled by different moderators, causing confusion all round. In the report system the ticket system avoids that. Therefore please always use the report system.
Where do I post my thread/issue/question?
This is an important decision and determines not only whether you achieve the goal you intend with your thread, but also whether it might be regarded as off-topic/not allowed and therefore be removed. So here is a list to help you decide where to put your thread (or maybe to not post it at all).

specified or implied off-topic threads
Discussion of / Linking to work of developers that are banned from XDA. If they are banned, so is their work.
political/religious statements of any kind
Where can I post things that are not allowed in Device Forum ?
You might want to have a look in General forums like:
General Discussion
Off-Topic Section
Android Development and Hacking
What do I do when I do not understand a moderators decision?
Please feel free to contact the moderator via PM to get his decision explained. If that does not satisfy you, contact the team-leader.
DO NOT, however, discuss any moderating issues in forum. This will always be regarded off-topic (which it actually is).
Now let's all have fun on this forum and help make XDA THE place where users can gain useful information instead of sifting through knee-deep piles of unorganised stuff!
Thanks - your moderating team for Tablets, Wearables, Moto and ZTE devices

Kernel Developers
In order to be fully GPL compliant, your sources must:
Successfully build and produce a valid output file, which is the same format as provided in the binary
Contain all source code, interface definition files, scripts used to control compilation and installation of the executable (it is not required to include the actual compiler/toolchain, but sufficient information should be made available to obtain the SAME configuration, including compiler flags, as used to build the binary version as released)

Click to collapse
ROM Developers
If your ROM uses custom boot.img the source must be provided.
If the kernel you are using was created by someone else, you must link to their source.
If your ROM contains a stock kernel, source must still be linked - ie; link to htc-dev kernel page.
Using a non GPL compliant kernel makes your ROM non compliant and subject to removal.
Click to collapse
Here is an example of how your kernel sources should appear in your development thread's OP (original post):
My Awesome Kernel
Source: [LINK] - Linked directly to where your source is located, ie; github, bitbucket, htc-dev.
Compiler: Linaro GCC 4.8 [LINK] - Link not nessacery but is helpul.
Branch: Android 4.2.2
Kernel Version: 3.10
defconfig: vigor

Click to collapse
Custom Recoveries
For (TWRP) Recoveries V3 = GPL --> we follow the GPL and enforce sources. For (TWRP) Recoveries V2 = Apache --> No source needed.
*** Modified source must be published on XDA in the OP, unmodified source must be linked (TWRP-Website) ***

XDA Forum Rules (excerpt):
...
5. Create a thread topic or post a message only once, this includes external links & streaming media.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer.
You can bump your unanswered question once every 24 hours
Duplicate threads and posts will be removed
Always post in an existing thread if a topic already exists, before creating a new thread.
Use our search function to find the best forum for your device.
Links to an external source are only allowed if relevant to the topic in hand. A description must be included, no copy & pasting from the original source.
Self-promotion is forbidden, this includes blogs, social media and video channels etc. Random links will be removed.
(...)
15. Keep threads / posts on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is that your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
General Forums - For news and announcements relating to your device.
Q&A Help & Troubleshooting Forums - For all question / request threads and posts. If there is no Q&A Help & Troubleshooting forum, use the General Forum of the relevant device
Accessories Forum - For posts related to accessories relevant to the device
