Root for Kindle Fire HD 7 ( 7.2.2 / 7.2.3) !!! - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

So this worked for me with the Softwareversion 7.2.2 !
Step 1 use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 and use the normal method.
(the program will say that the process has not worked but this it all ok) now the Kindle is very slow
and the display is blinking.
Step 2 now you use the Quemu Method for the 7.2.1 version (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893838)
That was all and now you should have root!! n
*Update: This works also with the 7.2.3 Software version i only used the 1 Step ( Root many Androids )

Does this work with KF2 (non HD?)

I just used the 1st step. No need for 2nd step my device is rooted again! You're the MAN!

Isn't this the same tool used to root the 8.9? But we use option 2 with the tool instead of option 1.

Root for Amazon 7" Kindle Fire HD Software Version 7.2.2
Thanks to natorus87!:good:
Step 1 Use "Root MANY ANDROID!" http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1886460 and use the Normal Method. Pay attention, at some point you will have to respond to a "Restore" dialog box on the Kindle itself. Ignore any errors. The Kindle will reboot and now responds Slowly.
Step 2 Use "Qemu automated root" http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1893838 and allow the process to complete.
Step 3 Launch Apps-Superuser to initialize Superuser.apk
That was all you now have Root.

KFHD7 7.2.2 re-root successful!
Worked for me also on previously Qemu rooted KFHD7 recently OTA updated to 7.2.2.
I also had to use both steps. Serious brownshorts minute between steps 1 and 2 as it set there frozen and seemingly bricked.
Thanks

I registered only to say ... YOU ARE THE MAN!
A BIG, FAT thanks to you, dude!

This works for KF2 as well. Just Step 1 will do. The ADB in the zip file is not updated, so you have to download the newest SDK and then copy all the files from /platform-tools/ to /stuff/ in the unzipped location (overwrite all existing files) and run the batch file after.
ADB install still doesn't work after. So install a file explorer direct from the Kindle and do all the necessary there.

What a great news before the Chritsmas!
As exactly you described, after step 1, the system became kind of slow. I didn't bother to check if it was back to root and just ran step 2; then the system is back to charming as before. Thank you!
PS: I personally feel that 7.2.2 is smoother and faster than 7.2.1.

Yeah the rooting process hasn't changed since the last update, no need for extra/changed steps.

can someone make a system.img of 7.2.2 stock or something. i tried to flash 7.2.1 back and it seems to wreck it.

Thank you!
Worked great! Had to do both steps. Does it matter that I now have both SuperSU and Superuser? Only have the option to remove superuser and not superSU.
Thanks again
Luis

ADB not recognising device
For anyone else who may have had the same problem as me,
I had to move the ADB files over from the original SDK becuse the adb files within qemu and bin4ry's exploit didn't recognise my device.
The first part was easy, removed the adb file from binary's root and replaced it with the adb file from SDK.
The second part was not so easy.
I had to manually to the qemu root process by creating a new file. (The full cmd version is found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893838)
I had to copy the adb file and the AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll from the SDK into a new folder. the added the su and superuser.apk files into it aswell.
Hope this helps anyone else that had my problem!

Sorted!
Worked like a charm.
Registered just to say thanks.
Now for Droidwall to stop this happening again........

Hey,
I'm looking to purchase the Kindle fire HD 7 for my girlfriend. I'm going to be under the assumption it will be up to date or will automatically update to 7.2.2. So can I use these steps to root 7.2.2 or would I have to follow the steps for rooting 7.2.1 as shown here beforehand? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891939
Many thanks and well done to the community!

Worked for me! It was even easier than rooting an HTC Evo 4G. This thread, or at least the thread referenced in the first post, should be stickied in the Development sub-forum.
I am a Noob and I can Root my Note!
I had experience rooting a Milestone 2 with SuperOneClick and an unbranded Android Tablet with Z4Root. (Thanks to developers of these!)
Unfortunately, both these methods did not work on the Galaxy Note so I came here and found this thread.
Unfortunately, ADB drivers was an issue with the zergRush Exploit on first run. The easiest way to get around this is to install PDANet on Windows and have it install the drivers for you. No need to complete the whole installation, just watch when it's finished installing USB drivers and then when prompted to continue, just cancel. Then re-run the zergRush Exploit and it should do its magic (Again thanks to the developers who work on these!)
While I'm able to freeze some apps with ROM Toolbox, I'm unable to change boot animation or the battery icon. Would appreciate if anyone could help with this!
Rooting hav no relation to install official/crckd version of apk.
Rooting needed for those application which are needed to access your system data e.g backup etc
when you need to install these kinds of application (weather off/unoff) you needs Root.
The optional unrooting package works also perfectly (just for info)...
i have sent back my Galaxy Note to amazon just to wait for the white version of the Note.
This method won't increase your binary counter, so root and unroot it as often as you like
Never either had any problem at all after rooting it, so this method is also stable and won't crash your device in any way or crash any applications...
Root confirmed working here, superuser.apk doesn't have permissions set properly but still works, easy to fix, updates fine from market.
Awesome - confirmed working. This needs to be stickied... other websites are promoting netchips CWN kernel method instead of this MUCH simplier way.
For you noobs with a clean system (that means me!), get the following files:
Note I run a 64 bit windows box, get the 32 bit variants if necessary.
You need:
1) Latest version of Kies
www.samsung.com/ca/kies/index.html
download file for me was: Kies_2.0.3.11082_152_4.exe
2) Java:
www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
Click on jdk and download. File for me: jdk-7u1-windows-x64.exe
3) android sdk:
developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
My file was: installer_r15-windows.exe
4) zergrush root script
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
grab the zip file in that page i.e.
DooMLoRD_v1_UNROOTING.zip
and unzip it to your windows box.
Install 1, 2, 3 in that order.
Find the SDK Manager program in your sdk install directory, double click it, and download/update 'Android SDK Platform Tools'.
Note you can't run the sdk manager program from the command prompt, or it'll complain that directories are being locked.
Now follow the instructions on the zergrush page, i.e. do the 'before you begin' stuff.
Go to the directory where you unzipped the doomlord zip file, run the runme script from a command prompt, and that's it.
To test, download terminal monitor, run it, and do a 'su' then 'id' and see if it says you are root or not.
Good luck!

[TOOL]PERI-0.42 One click root+recovery/fix-bootloops+soft-bricks ALL Devices+.27! :D

TF101, SL101 and TF101G on ICS firmwares anything else is untested.
Also should work on TF201 and TF300T on ICS ONLY!
For Windows, tested on windows 7 x64 bit, xp 32 bit and windows 7 32 bit.
Your data will be retained, unless you wipe in TWRP or something
UPDATE:
Added V0.41 which includes TWRP
Also V0.42 which is even newer TWRP!
apk not working sofar :[
If you have a TF201, or TF300T, this will work still, but you need to replace the included file 'recoveryblob' with a recoveryblob from a recovery from your device (download the .zip file for the recovery you want, and extract the 'blob' or 'recoveryblob' file from it and place in PERI folder, naming it recoveryblob and overwriting the otherone!)
Initiate project-PERI:
Since there's no one-clicks that I've stumbled across, and many people are asking if this-that etc.. works with .24, I've made an easy one-click (ish) that guides you through it and runs the necessary commands.

Just unzip it to a folder anywhere and run the .bat file!
Works with or without MicroSD, just let the device totally reboot (E.G. don't let any commands run at the splash screen or in recovery.)
Fixed reboot confusion in V0.2 -Didn't fix in v0.2, Did fix in v0.3 though
If I did anything wrong, or offended any devs, killed someone's cat, or something else, Please let me know!
Post here with any questions or problems, I tested this and everything worked fine, but still consider it as final? release candidate 4.
Did it work?
This should do everything needed, and all is included in zip!
If you want to skip any steps that you've already done if you mess up, just unplug the USB and pretend that it isn't throwing 'device not found' errors, then get back to where you were.
If superuser isn't installing but you have recovery, try 'fix permissions' in recovery. -- Fixed (hopefully) in V0.2

Tl;DR: This installs recovery and walks you through rooting your device from total stock. It includes everything you need, download is above.
It also functions as a unbrick for soft-bricks where you can access ADB or if your recovery is bootlooping and won't flash anything.
If you already have root: This tool will work on an already rooted tf to install Rouge's latest Touch Recovery (Reads from internal and external)
--if you're in a bootloop and can boot into android via-cold-boot, this will fix it! --
So if anyone who's already rooted doesn't mind doing further testing on it that would be great, the more reports the better!
If the superuser.zip isn't giving you root (For whatever reason ) try flashing the attached SuperSU I packed.

How to use PERI to root your Transformer!
**coming soon**
Unbricking/fix recovery bootloop:
I added an unbricking help/feature in V0.4 that'll help with bootloops or softbricks. PERI will help you through it.
**If you want to use the 'I'm already rooted just flash recovery' feature, you need to have given adb su access already!!!**
I bricked my tab on purpose using ROM manager to test the unbricker. Seems to work fine, let me know.
It might have bugs though and not work, in which case 'Don't taze me bro!'
I pretty much copy-pasted roach's bootloop fix.

Thing O Doom isn't responsible for bricks, dead cats, or thermonuclear war. (Although I will help you with the first two. Seek a bomb shelter if you experience the third problem.)
The .bat is open-source, download the .zip and take a look at the .bat with notepad++, if you like.
If you're having driver issues, give USBdeview a looksee.
What does it do, exactly ? You are downgrading and then rooting with it ?
No, it doesn't need to downgrade, it just runs wolf's exploit and directly flashes recovery on your tf. All user data is safe.
If it was a downgrade, the filesize would be alot bigger as I'd have to include a stock ROM.
tried it on my transformer with the latest .24 update but it could not flash the recovery at first time, got error ..... lemme check again
Edit: got error --- "cannot stat 'recoveryblob': No such file or directory" ---
I am sure that I am using the same transformer as yours as mine was imported from USA.
About Guide
Hi all,
I think ıt should be a more detailed guide.
"Just unzip it to a folder anywhere and run the .bat file!" it seems very easy.
I do not want to offend the developers and Thing O Doom
tigerfire25;
you can try that move the blob file internal memory of asus and try again. I an now at work so I can not try the method. I am just suggesting you, do not hope too much
I tried to make with simplicity in mind, so that really is all you need to do:
1. Make folder and extract contents of .zip into it.
2. Run the .bat file, which then holds your hand through the whole process.
3. ???
4. Profit.
EDIT5: Tigerfire, please try with a MicroSD inserted. This may fix it, thanks for reporting back.
Done
Done on my TF101G B90 with .24, it worked but:
1) when it tries to reboot the device (twice during the procedure) it doesn't work, i had to do it manually
2) the installation of the Superuser gives an error like it didn't succed but after reboot it was installed
Anyway thanks
Yeah, the reboot to recovery scripts don't work, it's actually just a simple 'adb reboot' command. I couldn't get 'adb reboot recovery' to work, sorry about that, that's why I detailed the manual instructions in there.
The superuser zip might be borked, but 'fix permissions' in CWM usually removes the error, but if it installed I figure whats it matter? XD
worked for me o/

You might be able to automate the process a little better by running the PnP Utility ('PnPutil.exe').
e.g.
Code:
pnputil -i -a %~dp0\adb-drivers\android_winusb.inf
-a - add package
-i - install package
You can skip the install command (-i) if you like (drivers will now be in the 'driver store' (-a) and installed when device is connected).

Thanks for the pointers, I'll be uploading V0.2 a bit later to fix some of those bugs and automate the process a bit better.

Thanks jazzruby for pointers!
@ Thing of Doom
Quarkko,
1. You use the same recoveryblob (Tf101 and Tf101G are very similar, so 3rd method works on both.)
2. You don't need to do anything, as you won't get OTA updates anymore if you install CWM. You can manually flash rooted updates in CWM later if you want to update.
3. Following to the letter, almost 0. You'd have to unplug your tf DURING the flashing of the recoveryblob. (The dd if command)
4. You still can't use NvFlash, since you have a Tf101G, sorry it hasn't been cracked yet.
Clear guide- Use my PERI: one click root and recovery installer (in my sig), it walks you through it and runs the commands for you. Works on the tf101G

Thanks for the reply.
I tried your PERI method! But unfortunately I use XP for these jobs. Should I wait for the xp drivers. Thanks anyway.
You can still use PERI with xp, just not the Autoinstall of drivers portion of it. Hit no when it asks to install drivers, then when it gets to the section that asks if a device shows up, hit no and then it will redirect you to a manual install of the ADB drivers.
All it needs are ADB drivers, which are easy enough to install.
TF101/G ONLY! anything else is untested.
does it mean onnly the g version or only the tf101?
kind regards
gandalf
I'll clarify that in the op. It works with both the tf101 and the tf101G, the slider is untested.

Finally, I reboot my device twice manually. Then, I waited for the final reboot. The final reboot completed. There is no Superuser apk. I get into the recovery menu and I installed by manually.

Hello everyone,
I would like to share with you a root tool that worked with me for Star N9500 MTK6589 and should work on most similar devices too.
Although this tool is made for Motorola it worked for me!
==============================================
INSTRUCTIONS:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Download this file to your PC.
2.Extract the entire contents of the zip file.
3.If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest Motorola USB drivers available for your phone.
4.Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
5.If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute “run.bat”. If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute “./run.sh”.

Which Motorola USB Driver???
Sorry need to ask; my phone Star N9589 and I want to know which Motorola phone USB driver to install for the device... Thanks:victory:
Search PDANet on Google, install it and connect your phone when it asks. After that you can use this and root your phone. Thanks for this method works perfectly.

Thanks!
Worked well on Alps MTK6589. Thanks for the great tool! :good:
I'm sorry for going O-T here, but actual hands-on experiences with the Star N9500 is hard to come by. Can anyone comment on their user experience with this phone? Especially screen quality, stability and battery life.
I'm seriously considering this one, great specs for the price - but I still need more to go on than just technical specs.
After root by this method, how to install CWM or TWRP recovery.. Thanks
Thank you very much...I rooted my device just now...The easiest way...a million thanks.
After root WiFi not turn on, star n9500

Troubles with Kingo Root -read here for solution -

So you're having troubles using Kingo Root (mostly download problems) (slow, times-out)? Well, here's the solution for the Z1.
Download google-usb_driver_r7.7z ( https://db.tt/bBelFPAw ) Dropbox, no secret chinese site
Download sony_driver_1.2.exe ( https://db.tt/jf0yBDHK ) Dropbox for convenience, but you can find it anywhere else)
Install Kingo,
Put both files in C:\Program Files\Kingo Android ROOT or wherever your Windows installed Kingo
Start the program.
The other downloads when the program starts are from another server which is faster.
Hi,
Tried this but still Kingo tries to download the drivers in appdata/local. It removes the Google usb drivers.7z and I get the part file again.
Any other tips?
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
both links not working for me ...
EDIT: links not working in opera 12 ... internet explorer OK

Well, uhm, when the program starts it checks a few locations fot the google_drives and sony drivers and if they're not found it will download the drivers. You can use http://download.sysinternals.com/files/ProcessMonitor.zip to see the locations where it looks for.
start procesmonitor (just an exe no install) then start Kingo...wait till the part! file gets created.
File>stop capture
Edit>find search for google-usb_driver_r7.7z, then look for the line that says "NAME NOT FOUND" or something or edit>search for Kingo Root and look at all the steps it executes. I can't do it again since it's already download and installed.
@Kyrius, links are working. Just tried. The filesize exceeds the 7z max by 100Kb or so on the forum so I couldn't attach that one.
so i finally got the files but after i put them in the right folder and start the kingo it deletes the file and starts to download ... strange
Both of these are already in:
C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\ZJMedia\Perf ectRoot\drivers
guess thats why it worked ok for me?
Thanks for the share!
Made things painless.
Tried for fun to OTA .257 from a rooted .518 (vroot),
but obviously did not work.
I had at no point a part file in the "drivers" folder, and things went smoothly.
Many thanks for the tips with process monitor,
Turns it was looking for google usb driver in /pogramfiles/kingoroot not app data.
for 257 fw?????
I like to know whether it can be used on .257 firmware too.

I have not yet seen anyone confirming this.
Did not try that myself.
I think i read from a couple of people that they tried, and failed.
The way to do it (which you will easily find out in the forum) is to first root .534 with latest Kingo root, then OTA .257
You should now still be rooted
I try and dont work in. 257, try vroot and 360 root.

The right location for both files in my Win7 is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kingo Android ROOT", so place them in there and all should be working fine.

Root 4.4.2 HP Slate 7 Extreme

Update5/19/2015 : Kingroot Apk worked on my 4400US model with latest Android 4.4.2
Direct download link:
http://mmgr.myapp.com/myapp/Kingroo...oot-4.0.0.233-release-201505071219_105001.apk
---------------------------------------------
The steps below work on Windows 7 (Not sure if will work on Windows 8.. If so let's us know) Make sure you have Administrator Rights to install software and run executable programs etc.
The HP Slate 7 Extreme has a few different models; mine is the 4400us and I am rooted with the steps in this guide, if you have the 4400us this guide should work for you. If you have a different model it may or may not work (one person couldn't Root their 4407ra). If you could let us know either way that might help others.
It is always a good idea to remove any android software from your PC before using that PC to minimize software conflicts {with the exception of Android Debugging Bridge ( ADB )... It might aid in windows finding device drivers (see link below in steps if needed)}
Make sure you have done BOTH system Updates on you Tablet! From 4.2 to 4.3..... Then from 4.3 to 4.4.2!
(System updates can be found in Settings/About Tablet)
Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your HP Slate 7 Extreme... (This is very important)
(to do so you will need to Enable THE HIDDEN "Developer options”...
Go to Settings/About Tablet then start tapping on the " Build number" line! (No I'm not kidding)
After a few taps you will see on screen messages counting down how many more taps needed to be a Developer... Just keep tapping till done.
Then go back to Settings Menu... Scroll down to bottom and you will see "{} Developer options” open it and enable "USB debugging" by checking the box.)
Turn on install from "Unknown Sources"
(Found in: Setting/Security)
Also.. disable any lock screen that requires pin, password, Face Unlock, or pattern
I turned my screen timeout to 30 min so it doesn't sleep etc
NOW LETS ROOT .....
Download Moborobo http://www.moborobo.com/
Download Shuame's ROOT Genius http://www.shuame.com/en/root/
Install Moborobo & Run Program
Plug Tablet into PC with it's factory USB cable
Your Windows PC should start looking for and downloading drivers (look down in Windows notification area by clock..click on the icon that is searching for drivers so you can see when finished
...don't worry if one of them says failed)..
just let Moborobo find and install needed drivers etc
note: you will see something you need to authorize on Tablet screen.. so do so!!!!
Now look in notification pull down panel and you should see that Moborobo installed an app on your Tablet... Click to open once then just hit the home button once on Tablet.
[Might help to watch fist 1 minute & 37 seconds of this video only!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5SsjnmV7J4 It a Guide for rooting a different Tablet... But it will show you how to use Moborobo.
...(DO NOT use the older Shuame root tool shown in the rest of YouTube Video!!!!!!!!!)]
[...if still not working (and you have authorized the security popup on Tablet screen mentioned above).. head over to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 and install the minimal adb client on Windows 7 and try process again]
Once your ready to move on.. ( Meaning: Moborobo sees your Tablet..) NOW run ROOT Genius (just Minimize Moborobo)
Root Genius will do it's thing (your Tablet Will Reboot during Process)
Profit (you are Rooted)
Use "ROOT Checker Basic" free in Play Store to ensure you are Rooted!
Note: Root Genius installs a super user app called "Kinguser" during the root process.. (which is also an app backup tool and has tool to disable apps from automaticly starting).
Per Jupiter683:
"If anyone has the Beats Audio Edition and they want to root, Towelroot works like a charm!"
Hit Thanks if I helped!
Screenshot 1
Used "Root Checker Basic" app to confirm Root Access granted.
Screenshot 2
Used "Xposed Installer" with Kit Kat Gravitybox module to tweak quick settings tiles...
Screenshot 3
This is the Super User app Kinguser that is installed during the Root process.
Please Note: that as of the date of this post.. there is NOT a custom Recovery for this Device. Do Not use any Recovery from other Devices like the Tegra Note 7 (you will brick your device). So that means don't use apps like Flashify etc.
We only have Root at this time using the methods in opening post. If you know of other Root methods please share info... I will add it to opening post.
Failed the process 86%
Hey there, I have did all process how you have explained... But always failed in 86%.... Do you know what can be the problem? Thanks a lot...

What Windows OS are you using? I used Win 7 to root.
I just rooted a 2nd Slate 7 Extreme.. got the wife one as well... And all worked well.
I have made Opening Post easier to read... And added troubleshooting steps throughout the guide to aid during Rooting Process.
Root .. failed
I couldn't get it to work either, goes through a lot of reboots and the says :
"Such a tough phone!"
Root ...failed"
Maybe it works on a partciular region of Slate 7 Extreme ? I'm in New Zealand (probably same tablet as Australia)

I looked at both tablet's specs online and they are identical. Are you updated to KitKat 4.4.2

Another thought.. Did you enable the "Install from Unknown Sources".. reason I ask is because thought out the process of rooting.. it needs to install a couple apps on your Tablet (which you can remove after rooting)?
Hello! Just wondering, will this work on a 4.3 Slate 7 Extreme?

Yes.. should work fine for 4.3... however...I would update to 4.4 before rooting.. if you can... so you don't have to go through process again to move to 4.4 later.
Great! Just tried your method and .........It worked like a charm! Just one last question; is it possible to install a recovery mode of some kind? Ideally, I'd like to make a nandroid backup.

No recovery has been made for this device to my knowledge.
Do not try a different device's recovery... I recently bricked a device doing so!
This worked!! I did it on my 4.3 tablet, so easy! Thank you justjayhere! :good:
