BUGS
- ATMEL BUG - If you have Atmel touchscreen rom might not work with your phone, bur try it just in case.....

2 - wipe data / factory reset
3 - wipe cache partition

As I'm new on this, fell free to ask anything and sorry if something is missing but I'm alway open to suggestions to improve for everyones benefit.
I'm no developer nor mod and my only intention with this thread is to share this great rom with this great community!

you can download geno's "clean" release from here
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=144380&uk=3791923799#dir/path=/MIUIv4/MIUIv4 2.11.30
You may need to delete some files from the zip if you have the stock partition. Delete the "video" folder from media.
Cheers
Edit: this is not a development thread by the way

There was already a dev topic here. Why didn't you just use it.

Whats the difference between Geno release and MIUI-PT release?

Kernel version? Languages?

Well it is not about support my friend. I personally don't have any problems with you (obviously) or this thread, but it is about the rules of this forum (and other's too ). In order to be easier for anybody to find what he searches for, we all have to post things where they should be and if there is no such place, then we should open a new thread. As there is a MIUI-Portugal thread you could post the links there and any other information you have. Anyway, I am not a moderator after all...

There are very few differences from geno's release since it is based on it. Some Chinese apps are missing, I think network location is fixed (you can use the apk to geno's release though), the clock at status bar is centered, it has a MIUI-Portugal bootanimation, and some tweaks such as the known gps.conf server tweak, gpu composition type at build prop and some more I can't remember.
I personally prefer geno's release, because it works smoother for me. But I haven't tested the last one MIUI-PT. You can try and choose. You can flash the one over the other with no data wipe (only dalvik and cache wipes are needed), so there is not a big cost in trying.

Geno's built is based on latest Aurora, so it has the same kernel with it and also the wifi reboots problem, the battery consumption etc...
Generally, both are suitable for daily use, but you will get some reboots if you enable/disable wifi much, till dzo fixes this at Aurora... I have to add that MIUI V4 is noticable slower that Aurora, because of the heavier graphics, but... god is pretty and handfull ...
I am using the English language, because greek is not fully supported. If you choose greek, you will have some things at greek and some at english, which I can't stand
Cheers everyone!

The kernel is the new from DZO and in Aurora.
DZO is the guru as we all know and Geno's compiled the rom with his kernel.
Please note that although Geno compiles the MIUI rom for our device he does not test it!
This is a fact and hes words.

True about the base on latest Aurora and the random wifi reboots when enable/disable wifi.
Can't agree with you about battery consumption. I play a lot, phone calls, sms and wifi (forums) and battery last very well. This is actually one of the bests so far in this point. But then again we are talking about a U8800, a phone with own personality and theres no 2 alike.
MIUI can be a bit slower than Aurora, true, as Aurora is a clean mode and MIUI rom, as we know is a base rom with lots of things on top, to get that sensational look.
This last release with latest DZO kernel is very smooth and fast and its a different world compares with MIUI 2.11.16 with Genos kernel.
This I can't agree with you also. You can use this MIUI and will feel very fast and smooth experience.
DZO kernel came to give a fresh life and improve a lot the experience of this heavy MIUI but have the know bugs of the wifi reboots and the continuous auto-focus camera while recording videos.
Again, I'm no developer and I have created this thread for everyone that wishes to try the MIUI PT and I will keep it updated. Its a promiss.
The updated will always be in the first post of the thread, as it should be, reason why I did not posted this release in old MIUI PT thread.
If the admin/mod decided to cancel the thread I will understand and respect until there just enjoy and lets this great work from several devs.
Be Well!

No more problem in this, since I have contacted the moderators to delete my thread since it was not updated anymore. I really prefer that someone that is in contact with the developers of this Rom to take the lead of this. At the time of creation of my thread, I "offered" it to msbomberman (developer of this rom)...
So Djuganight, you can keep up with the good job!

Guys, how about wifi tether?!? Thanks

My dear friend Spiros... Geno's "clean" release as you call it is not as clean as it is... After a chit-chat with him I found out he doesn't test the U8800 himself... I have been reporting some "bad data" and kernel issues... Deleting only videos under media is not enough if you have stock partition... The ROM must be 200MB unzipped tops, and it's far more than that... Besides, there's the T9 issue...
Again... It's not as clean as you say,,,
Kind regards
Paulo Brito Costa

[ROM] MIUI port 1.11.04 (5/11/11)

I take no responsibility for any harm that comes to your phone as a result of applying this mod.
Based on the Desire-Z MIUI.us release available here: http://roms.miui.us/1.10.14/MIUI.us_vision_1.10.14_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip
Known Issues
Wifi doesn't always work well with networks that use a hidden SSID, and not at all with hidden 802.1x EAP networks
Green/purple line on photos taken at 5MP resolution with the Gemini JPEG encoder enabled.
Phone will crash when UMS is enabled for internal storage.
Need to restart wifi tethering to change SSID and security settings

Boot to clockworkmod recovery
(Optional) Perform a backup. After backing up reboot recovery (in the advanced menu)

Reboot to system and enjoy. Be patient the first boot as it takes a while to build the dalvik cache and will just show a black screen for ~15 seconds.
Notes
Firewall is by default set to quite aggressive settings. I would suggest looking over these and turning it off if you don't need any of the features.
Don't use the battery usage monitor.

I got bored last night so I decided to try a Miui port. Thanks to the work done on gingerbread roms by Geno and DZO this was actually fairly straightforward to do. At this stage basically everything that works in CM7 is working in Miui.

Issue with recording audio (skype, gtalk etc)
No hardware video acceleration
No camera
Probably more, post your results

Great Work
Looks fun !
I am not wishing to try out this until it 3 more updates
Feeling pretty insecure for a change at the moment. I will check in here everyday I like MIUI for the sleek and stylish view they have of an android ROM should look and work alike.
Good work, you beat me to it.
I already had downloaded Desire Z's MIUI.
Excelent work mate many thanks
thanks!
awesome work! great thx to you,i 'll test it
Just flash it in, works grate! will use it for daily uses for testing!

If you wish to use automatic backlight levels I suggest disabling the allow lights to decrease option. It doesn't smoothly transition between the backlight levels so it can be really annoying having it change while you're using it.

But nah, stockwell knows what he's doing; it's also a small port and parallel with CM, much like Oxygen. Advances with CM will result in advances in the other ones. So it's the kind of port it's easier to be maintained by one guy, less confusion and such imho.

I found a bug, not working FM radio
Thanks to FrozenAceTeam
First off, many thanks to the FrozenAceTeam
One thing that would be great for testers with all the CM7.2 releases is know the date the source was taken from the cyanogenmod github, as we then know what changes may exist between the ROMs in terms of low-level tweaks. We never know if a build was compiled with source taken last year, last night or whatever.
Also, will the FrozenAceTeam make a dev team on github, would be great to see you guys building stuff going forwards?
I know language can be a barrier sometimes, lots of very talented devs in Russia so it seems, and github allows devs to speak the universal language of code
The most common and will be ask sooooo many times after this...

You install it through CMW 4 or 5 and do a factory reset before u install the zip .
Cheers!
Damn, I only wiped dalvik cache :< oh well, still works
Screens soon!
WIFI doesn't work. But the UI works smoother than in the alpha 3 build by Macław and the rest of the crew.
Hopefully you guys join your efforts, and will work together on a great ROM for us
Sry, do you mean that this ROM is based on 4.0.3 ???
Yes, with kernel of Wayland and his sources and updated a lot.
It is 4.0.3 and Wifi works fine for me !
Great rom improvements but what do you mean by 'fasted' :-D
AOKP 4 LYF
men in your next release please add multilenguaje, i'm speak spanish
greetings and thanks for ur rom
WIFI doesn't work for me at all. Doesn't scan for available networks (I have five in range, which two belong to me).
Speed of this ROM is awesome, multitasking, and switching between apps works as charm.
Me and some other users want ask some question, so here we go
1- Can we add widgets in this ROM ?
2- can we change battery icon to percentage ?
3- Is this ROM stable ? we can use everyday ?
4- You said the lag is fixed, but is 100% fixed ?
5- Bugs, can we tell us what bugs this ROM have ?
6- When you will release a version with all languages ?
I hope i can ask this question here, and if you awnser i´m sure a lot of people will stop ask the same things, and prevent spam
Awnsers us, please, and great job , +1 for you

2.For who has prob with responsive touchscreen (thank to amrith.28)
Ask: too bad the touchscreen is too responsive just like other custom roms... any solution?
Solution: touchscreen is probably related to kernel use CF-Root b82-ex and there is no touchscreen problems. (PS - i had same issue on Ketut's BlackHawk DXKT5 and he told me to use b82-ex)
after that whenever a rom gives me touchscreen issues, i flash cf-root b82ex and its all fine!

one of the best rom for longest battery life, i think
i've used myth ICS beta 2 (previous version of themyth rom) for more than 2 days if turned off auto sync, gps, background data, used 2g instead of 3g, minimize brightness

in my opinion, i think battery life of myth rom absolutely better than cm7 roms
of course using 3g can make battery drains quickly :-s
awesome

1) Do you think MIUI launcher will work (and do you know where to find latest release)?
2) Maps 6 will work?
3) Viber will work (it doesn't on some modified stock rom)?

RR 3.0.9 ROM: link to a MALI Patch (fix memory leak + new kernels)

As an quite user here in the forum, it is not allowed for me to share things in the development section.
Just want share a link, which patches RR 3.0.9 with the latest MALI drivers. Therefore for all people which can not wait for an update of rr 3.0.9 it is quite fine: memory leak fixed (had been very annoying because my phone got frozen after 3 days without reboot) and enables you to use the latest dorimax kernels >7.0 (fine battery + speed)
Found the patch in an german forum:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/custom-...ma-ota-resurrection-remix-jb-3-0-9-a-162.html
the patch itself can be downloaded under the link (thank the user rush85 in that other forum):
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzvcR7D2Mt5KQ1JLMXJDQmFzNkk
1) I flashed over rr 3.0.9.
2) wiped dalvic. wiped extweakts profiles in cwm
3) flashed dorimax 7.3 (mali)
4) to be sure, wiped again dalvic & extweaks profile again
5) reboot
and ready to go!
--> Much faster + reliable (memory fixed) + nice powersave

a personal question & comment
by the way a question:
does anybody knows how to directly get access to the developer thread?
I have not much time to post. But I'm a heavy linux user on my 3 desktop PCs since over 6 years. Know much about linux kernel tweaks, debugging and android.
But also one critic to S2 users:
I've followed the Galaxy ACE threads for the last year and must say, that there the "developer threads" are much cleaner! No noop with "how can I flash this" or "where do I find this and that" is disturbing the replies of testing by the community for clean feedback & input for the developer(s).
- Sorry for that, but the people should just post relevant things there to make it easy for the serious testers and developers.
So after this patch ,can i flash parandroid 2.21 which ri8 now does not support dual booting in siyah ???
no. that patch is only for the ressurection Rom in Version 3.0.9.
it has nothing do with other ROMs or versions. you would break it.
I don't know who actually developed that patch. but it is working fine. next RR ROM after 3.0.9 will nevertheless have the Mali driver patches included, as the sources will be updated.
so in summary: just for the impatient waiting users of RR ROM.
Sent from my GT-P6810 using xda app-developers app
and just one thing I forgot in the first post: run also fix permissions in cwm after flashing the patch and kernel.
whilst waiting for a new RR release,
I'm now very happy with the performance and battery life of my s2! just bought ot 10 days ago to substitute my good old samsung ace 1.
Some hints for optimizing your s2
Just for because I want to know the experience of other people:
Did anybody tried that mali patch?
I'm running it since the first post here. My tips for an excellent battery life with good performance:
Remember I'm using the combination of RR 3.0.9 + mali patches + Dorimanx Kernel 7.3 (need the mali patches)
Make use of the extweaks settings to undervolt GPU (800 mV is ok for mine at low frequencies) and enable some sleeper mechanisms. I undervolt the CPU with the app cputuner (for all frequencies -50 mV; otherwise unstable for me). Because I'm a lazy person I automatically adjust the brightness via lightsensors (Velis Auto brightness app works fine; but also eats some small cpu time).

For improving deep sleep times:
[A] Additionally I found out that it is really wothfull to get a baseband matching RIL modem configuration to get over 95% deep sleep. A good tool to check/correct this is:
"GetRIL"
I deactivated also "fast dormancy" (I'm on O2 in germany) with the App:
"Fast Dormancy Toggle i9300"
[A] and really did the trick to get a high amount of deep sleep for me. Without I had just approx. 75% and now up to 98% in G2 mode.
Playstore Issues due dpi change:
If you get problems with app compability in playstore after you changed the dpi in build.prop, I recommend to search for the "multi dpi playstore" replacement here in XDA.
Last thing which is interessting: no use to lower the CPU >200 MHz. Why with a clockfrequency of 200 MHz the equinox CPU is at the best rate of calculation speed / powerconsumption. Therefore lower frequencies: lower energy but more time to finish tasks --> worse than 200 MHz.
An really good and technical/scientific investigation with hardware measurements of voltages and power consumptions is given in a german forum FACTS and MEASSUREMENTS agains wild speculations:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/samsung...80670-info-akkuverbraucher-des-galaxy-s2.html
Nice post, I will try this out and give some feedback. I'm still on rr 3.0.8 and dormanx 5.82 but I want to update

What are you browsing with? I had the same problem, but it is probably the browsers you are using. Are you using stock android browser? I used opera mini browser, and the page loads quite differently and gives you an option to download the zip file.
hi everybody. sorry hat i did not replied for a long time.
yes hat mali patch Form a Google drive must be downloaded by click in 'Datei' and then hit something linke download AS ZIP. unfortunately that forum is in German.... also the nice poeweconsumption measurements I posted a link for. maybe someone has the time to make it a viable in English for everybody.
you can flash the malipatch zip over a installed rr 3.0.9 by cwm. don't miss the wiping steps and fix permissions.
At the Moment I am on RR 3.0.9 + mal patch + dorimanx 7.4. a perfect combination for me.
by the way. I always activate in the developer options the 'disable hw overlay'.
feels smoother for me.
so let us hope that the next RR release will have the Mali patches inside. .... but until that release I already enjoy this combination. - until now no reboot had been necessary due to the old memory leak seems to be gone.

I similarly have much to share at times, but I guess you just have to post to post. It might explain why there are lots of irrelevant comments.
About your critic to S2 users, my guess is that the S2 is a lot more popular and hence you would have a lot more people asking questions. The upside is you have more developers making awesome stuff on it.
OH and about the patch, will try that later.

Call me old fashioned, but with things like firmware, roms and updates (not inly for a mobile, but other devices) I don't trust wireless. I always download serious things by desktop pc. There the download is quite fine with any browser. I used firefox. there is a screenshot attached.
But maybe this patch for 3.0.9 is not necessary, as we may get a new RR version this week. ? Let us hope the developer has some time after the the milestone release of the AOSP team is ready.
nice work!
