no, its the opposite: because there isn't a rear facing camera, the cost is reduced, therefore we save money on something useless.

I wouldn't mind a rear facing camera for Skype. Like if I have to show someone something I could switch cams like I can on a phone or a tablet with rear cam. Like say I'm chatting with the wife and the baby is doing something cute. Its a lot easier than trying to aim the front camera. I wouldn't use it for pictures though...

Yes, this is one of the known bugs of the HKTW build
Is there a known mod or hack that makes the camera function like a SLR? Settings that give the user control the F/stop, shutter speed, ect.

There's a hardware mod that you can do but it costs a couple hundreds.
Do the following
1.place epic to the side
2.buy dedicated camera
3.????

Uncalled for man, this is a very honest and valid question.
To answer the question I haven't seen any mods or hacks. But whenever I need a little more 'umph' far the camera I use a third party camera app like Camera360.

I use the vignette app. Its great but I just wish cell phone makers would give us a little more control of our cameras.

The evo lte had a slightly better camera...but to be honest 8mp is just that '8mp'...you know what your getting... until next gen phones are released with better cameras 8mp does the job for now, if I want better pics I'll use a digital camera.

The s3 takes way better pictures i have both phones as well and did extensive testing one thing i have noticed though is the s3 when on auto focus ,,,,, doesnt always auto focus, i recommend getting CAMERA ZOOM FX AND RE TRYING YOUR EXPIRAMENT AND YOU WILL SEE A VERY LARGE DIFFERENCE

I had both Phones as well and to the op it doesn't look like you are letting either of the cams focus properly before taking the picture. I personally think the gs3 camera is better.

It's true hands down its a better camera and screen. I still like the s3 better as an overall device.

Im not arguing I totally agree. If htc had the sense to put a 2000 mah battery in it then it would be the better of the two. I always said that if a android came out that could last a full day of my heavy use it would be the winner. That phone has finally landed and it's in the body of cheap feeling plastic. That screen on the one x is out of this world.

Had my N4 a while now and I find in lower lighting the S2 is certainly better - in very good light the N4 is great.
From personal experience the sgs2 camera is better

I have no complaints though I don't take an obsessive amount of pictures though I do read that a lot about the Nexus 4 camera. I can only imagine this is because the Nexus line is more aimed towards the developer type crowd and all of these others are more for the mainstream.
I'll take the N4s hardware specs/overall setup over a nicer camera any day.
