Sharp releasing 20 inch HD display with stylus :) - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

Cool.
For all those stylus fans out there. This looks like it will be a 20 inch tru-HD display that takes pen input. Obviously this is an apples and oranges comparison to the SGN10.1 but it is interesting news for pen fans who wish to work in a Windows environment.

This thread isn't related to note 10.1 forum by any way .

Neither are all the Windows Tablet threads but it is interesting for stylus enthusiasts and it's getting kind of dull around here.

I'm really waiting on a convertible ultrabook like the Yoga but with pen input.

and there are many others which do not belong in this section or in this forum, this is genera piece of news not related to any gadget

But people complain about carrying a 10.1" tablet around, imagine hauling around a 20" tablet....

Ya that is one thing but then this more of a table use like we had a product from microsoft earlier i thing it was also called surface or something else

This display has no real active pen / digiziter. It is only a "cheap" capacitive display with just a smaller tip on the capacitive stylus. So no real accuracy, no pressure sensitivity etc.

Interesting point. Didn't notice that - although for note taking should be fine.
This isn't a tablet, just a monitor than can be used like a tablet.

I don't think it's a wacom digitizer & stylus. Wacom products are by far the more superior products.

Samsung developing OCR-stylus app!?!?

When I bought my Tab this past weekend (BB 202 Wilmington DE) there was a Samsung rep there and he was telling me that Samsung is developing a hand writing app to use with a standard stylus. Part of the screen, think where your keyboard will be will be dead as a wrist rest and the screen was designed to be used with line drawing so no lag. So anyway he goes on and says that there is going to be an app like one note coming out as well.
I didn't think anything of it really till i was looking at Samsung's website for a case for this and I saw that one of the accessories was a really nice capacitive typed pens. I just thought it was an odd coincidence. Also I did ask him where he heard this he said he was at Google IO and they were talking about it there. Anybody heard any of this or was this dude full of ish?

This would be cool if it was true. I for one hope that it is.
This feature will make me complete.
I'd love a good handwriting app. Nothing in the market now even comes close to the iPad app

Slightly off topic - samsung-unveils-the-5-3-inch-galaxy

WOW really a 5.3 inch screen with Super AMOLED resolution of 1280x800!!! Wonder if it will come to Sprint (hope so)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...-note-with-a-1280-x-800-super-amoled-display/
I liked the idea of the streak but my wife made fun of it saying it looked like you had a book on your ear.
I would still like a 5" phone...but with LTE and HSPA this is prolly a Verizon device, right guys?

Imagine though. You just use it with a bluetooth headset. Its big enough to really browse the web and do more data oriented things.
Pair it with a fold up keyboard and think of all you could do. It can be both the tablet and the phone. Get the best of everything to fit in your pocket.
I wouldn't want a 10" tablet anyway because its to big to really use with one hand.
Hope you carry around solar panels to power that thing..

Why would anyone prefer a 4" over 5" phone? That just views my mind... Think outside the box. A 5" phone wouldn't have to be any bigger than the epic. There a ton of wasted space on the epic fire the screen size.

Samsung Galaxy Note size comparison with HTC Vivid and GSII Skyrocket

I was testing out the Galaxy Note at CES 2012 yesterday and have to say the white Galaxy Note is great looking. I put the GSII SR next to his big brother and brought along the HTC Vivid as well.
The AT&T branded Note did seem a bit laggy, not to bad but I noticed a bit compared to my GSII SR.

Nice someone who was or is there lol. Anyway hopefully the lag is fixed soon, like the international note and did you test the spen calibration?
The international Note "lags" compared to the international GS2 too. Mo' pixels, plain and simple.
LOL, yeah on the road back home. Actually the pen seemed calibrated. Samsung removed the original stylus and they had the pen that will be a assessory which is like a regular pen. It was more comfortable to use.
Also once you were in the application there is no lag using the application, again this could be fixed or not, but its nothing that would make me stop from buying the Note.
Samsung really was pushing the GNote, as it was advertised everywhere.
By the way, there was a lot of attendees with the international Galaxy Note. I saw the blue one and liked the back color blue, but something about the white one that is just calling my name. The white one does look bigger because of the color compared to the black one.

They removed the S-Pen phone dock?
Yeah, the lag is really due to the 3X pixels it has to process. So just have to accept it when compared to the S2. Hopefully ICS will help it out.

The stylus dock is there, Samsung didn't put the pen stylus because at CES 2012 show, most likely they would disappear. Even though in the lobby Samsung had setup a charge station with some Galaxy Note phones to try, and out of all of them, only one had the pen stylus.
Here is picture of the white Note which is looking nice.

And it only is $70! They still haven't shown how it replaces the keyboard though, so that's the only thing I'm not sure how they're going to do. Maybe either voice diction or virtual keyboard?

Leap represents an entirely new way to interact with your computers. It's more accurate than a mouse, as reliable as a keyboard and more sensitive than a touchscreen. For the first time, you can control a computer in three dimensions with your natural hand and finger movements.
Those are awesome! Thanks for sharing.

I wonder how long it'll be before Apple puts it in their own gadgets and the media fawns all over them for it. ;-) I hope it plays nice with older PCs too.

Well apparently Leap has been acquired by many TV manufactures and is planning to have the technology in future TVs. Kinda like how the Kinect was made for Microsoft but it wasn't made by them.

I agree, to be honest the S2 felt a little square while holding it, the first thing I said when I held the S3 was OMG you can't feel the corner!!! this is holding the phone with one hand and having the bottom right corner rest on your palm (right hand). The note 2 is just the note 1 with the S3 curves or you can say that the note2 is the iphone5 of the OG note... (didn't wanted to mention the i word but that's how it looks to me).
In real life I prefer the S3 but look at the photos and it looks like some cheap Chinese phone.
I mean I've just never seen a phone where photos just do it so little justice.
The shape of the S3 is great, but they should have cut the bottom bezel much smaller and centered the button, in that regard the Note looks much better.
I think since this is the S3 forum, you'll probably find most people prefer the S3... Why does this thread even exist? It's just flame bait...

Gs3. The note II is too big IMO. At least for me it is. I cant see going any bigger than 4.7-4.8. If I need something bigger I have my Nexus 7 or something bigger? my Transformer Infinity.. hahah
thread closed. this is likely to cause flame. further people get the phone they prefer and as xda members then can post in the appropriate forum.
