Load android apps without Root or file manager - SnapPea - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

I found out about this neat application on the Kindle Fire forum Link
I tested it on the Kindle Fire HD and it works. Might be a good way for folks who don't want Root/Play store but still want easy application installation. The referenced post has some details, but the direct link to the application is: SnapPea

That would be cool if we had the firmware. I don't think it is available. But I could be wrong.

Hello,
Do you think you can make a video for my guide also? I have written a compilation post of all the guides. The only videos missing is how to install Play store or how to control Fire TV with VNC server. Let me know if you have any difficulty following my guide.

Worked great for me - the only problem I see, and it has nothing to do with your root method, is that Google Play store seems to detect the FireTV as a GoogleTV device. So, almost any application I go to install is listed as incompatible.. <ugh>

I have these two files on my Kindle HDX - maybe they can be of help to somebody

while cleaning some up files on my Kindle Fire HDX 7 I found these two files. These came from Amazon as an update. Maybe someone here could use or needs them.
if so, someone will need to instruct me on how to upload them. thanks all...

Thanks, mate - but probably not needed here. These are standard update files. A quick check shows both are posted elsewhere in the HDX forums.

I've not had a chance to test it yet.
SPMC 16.1.1 doesn't open on my rooted Fire TV 1 or Fire TV 2. But it does open on my non-rooted Fire Stick with 5.0.5? Strange. On the Fire TV's it does the first time run then just goes to a black screen.

Same here. Not running on rooted aftv1 (still running the older firmware) either. Same behavior just goes to a blank screen.
works fine for me as well, but for me it's not overwriting my existing spmc 15 install, does anyone know how to do that?

Has a different signature and installs all files under com.semperpax.spmc16 vs com.semperpax.spmc for vs15. Not sure why this was changed but you can move all files manually to this directory and should work.
are we talking about searching within addons using the remote mic? or just using the mic to open the app?

Correct, koying addresses this on github:
https://github.com/koying/SPMC/issues/88
Seems like there is an issue with launching SPMC 16 with Android versions < 4.4. So having issues on the old Fire OS. Will try again once we have have the rbox recovery and preroot for FireOS 5.
Launcher version looks in the works as well for 16.1.2:

I figured this out early this morning, thanks tho. Forgot to mention that it's working on my unrooted aftv 1 box. Not sure why so many rooted aftv1 users are having problems. Maybe it's something with kingroot. I've tested on my rooted aftv 2 and no problems whatsoever.

Most of us on aftv1 rooted with towelroot. But shouldn't matter what root method because we are likely all on a preooted rom flashed with recovery.
Is your aftv1 still on the old Fire OS or 5? Because I think that is the issue, not the root. Its just that most of us with root are still on the old OS.
I too want to better understand how this "voice search" truly functions. Might someone give some insight as to the true nature of how "voice search" works on this forked version of Kodi on the Amazon Fire TV 2?
