[Q] Nexus 7 reboots, battery 0% - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've a strange problem with my N7. Today it completely turned off because the battery was 0%. As I noticed that I plugged it in to charge. Since then it continuously reboots but doesn't charge at all. I'm still stuck at 0% battery.
I tried different mUSB cables but that did not help.
When it reboots, I can see the lockscreen with the info that the device is charging but after a few seconds it just turns off (without the notification "Device shuts down" or sth like that).
I also noticed a buzzing sound while the N7 is plugged in....

Ok, good news. After another restart I quickly activated the airplane mode and after one reboot it finally showed 2% battery. I have no idea why it charges with airplane mode one, but I am that's back alive...

[Q] Phone suddenly went dead (latest MIUI 2.6.35 kernel)

My phone just went dead yesterday, while playing tiny tower. Suddenly turned off, and would not turn back on. When I connect the charger, the led in in the speaker blinks. When the charger is not connected, the phone is completely dead. And it does not respond to anything either way. I don't know if this is rom related. Probably not? I'm thinking returning it to the shop, and hoping for the best is my only option, unless someone here has a better idea.
Update: I tried turning it on, connected to the charger, but without the battery in. It starts. So I guess the battery died? Suddenly and completely?
What happens if you turn it on without battery in and then insert battery?
Mine did a similar odd thing when I first wiped battery stats. Was playing angry birds to drain battery right down and it turned off, but would not start. LED just blinked when power was in. I just had to plug it in and unplug it a bunch of times and it finally started charging.
I did wipe battery stats last week, but have been through a few drain/recharge cycles since then. When I start with the charger connected and insert battery it gets past the boot animation and then shuts off. I tried with a different battery yesterday, and it worked fine. When you say plug it in and unplug, do you mean connecting and disconnecting charger, just repeatedly?
yeah, was just plugging and unplugging a lot and it finally worked. If another battery worked then that would seem to be the fix.
Will try that. Thanks!
Managed to get it to start by putting the battery in after starting with just the charger first. Had to try a bunch of times before it worked. Been charging now for 5 hours, but it never gets past 10% charge on the battery? Do I just let it keep charging or is there some other way to fix it?
That happened to me in the day I bought my phone. It only started with the charger plugged in (and with no battery).
I thought the problem was in the battery, but in the store they tried with a new battery and the phone did not connect. So they replaced and everything is fine (since September).

[Q] Battery won't charge

My N7 died for the first time last night so i plugged it in. The next day it won't turn on. So I plugged it back it and got it to power on, but it only gets to the homescreen before shutting down and the screen flickers. That's with the cable plugged in. If I do it on battery it gets to the homescreen then gives me a low battery warning and shuts down. The recovery menu loads and freezes instantly with our without the cable.
Any ideas on a fix? The only thing I did to it was root it a few weeks ago.
TIA,
Mike
Plugged it in last night again, it apparently took a charge and seems ok now.

[Q] When turning off, a fully charged battery has 0%

Finally receieved my Nexus 4 after almost 2 months waiting, but not really enjoying it right now.
Received it yesterday, unpacked it and I couldn't turn on the phone. So I've connected the cable into the charger and a light showed up.. After 30 min I saw a battery icon and after 1 hour I could turn up the phone.
When turned on, it showed 3% battery, so I let it charge for about 5 hours. While charging I've noticed something strange.. it was charging very slow. After 4h of charging it was showing just 16% battery and 1h later it was suddenly at 70%. After it got till 99% I unplugged the charger and tried to use the phone.
Everything worked till I wanted to restart it. The phone doesn't want to start up! Pressing the powerbutton for 20-30 seconds.. nothing happens. Tried the volume button combination.. nothing. Plugged it into my PC and after 10 min the battery icon showed up?! The battery was at 0%! The battery went from 99% to 0% just by turning it off!
I've let the phone charge again, this time the whole night (7 hours).. It was fully charged at 100%. I disconnected the charger and turned off the phone.. and again: a black screen.
I've Googled and searched everywhere but couldn't find 1 thing.. what could be the problem of this? How can my phone go from 100% to 0% by turning it off?
I have no idea what is going on but you need to contact google asap, they'll send a replacement and hopefully the new one isn't a dud.
If you want to try playing with it, plug the phone into a different charger with a different cable, let it charge overnight/12hrs and give it another shot it could be a bad cable/charger (to be honest I think this is a long shot.)
Really sounds like a hardware problem.
Your only option is RMA.

Nexus 7 3G discharged while plugged in; won't switch back on

Hello, forum
My Nexus 7 3G has been showing some battery issues lately. A while ago, the device was on airplane mode with WiFi connected. The only running apps were Temple Run 2 on the background and Whatsapp. The battery got down to 2% when I noticed it so I plugged it in with the original 2Amp charger and the original short cable. After around 5 minutes, the battery went down to 1%, and then the device died. Now, it's still plugged in. When I try to power it on, it shows the charging screen (first with the battery with the charge icon and then a battery with in a filling up cycle. After 5 cycles, the screen goes blank. There is no other response from the device. Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Raptor
UPDATE: Okay, I think I fixed it. While the charging icon was on the screen, I pressed the power button again till it booted up. The battery was at 9% on boot, so it was charging fine. Still, that behaviour is unusual.

Weird behavior when charging while powered off.

Hi
Suddenly when powered off, I saw that when I plug in the charger, the battery icon pops up in the middle (as expected) the charging icon comes and that's it. It just shows a empty battery with a lightning icon. The weird part here is that i'm unable to turn the phone on the normal way and if I unplug the charger (even for minutes) the empty battery icon stays on and still can't turn on.
The only way to turn the phone on is home+power+vol down and when in download mode, choose cancel then restart.
I'm rooted on a custom rom, but haven't really changed anything.. Tried formatting and reinstalling everything.. Not seem to fix it.
Any ideas?
No problems on mine. Turned it off, plugged it in, got the battery icon with the percent of charge and three dots moving up from the bottom of the screen to the battery image. Pressed the power button for a couple of seconds, and it powered up like normal. I'd raise it with your ROM developer.
