[Q] Hulu and Netflix? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My N10 is in the mail but I remember with my TF201, Hulu wasn't supported for several months. Can anyone confirm Hulu plus and while we are at it, Netflix support?
Are there any apps/services that are NOT working that you would have expected to be working?
Thanks.

Netflix is confirmed working, no clue on Hulu. But since it's Hulu, it could probably be awhile.

HBO go not supported :'(

You won't see support for hulu anytime soon. It's hulu who is blocking mobile devices, they want you to get the paid app. It's for copyright reason, they said.
But you can get the "hacked" version for hulu, look at the theme and app section.
P.S : you know you can edit your first post instead of writing a new one

Transformers movie

I decided to watch some if my free Transformers movie today but it didn't play. Does it stream the movie or is it on my device?

you have to download it
Mine streams ok from play movies app. Don't need to download unless you want to watch offline.

Are you rooted? Rooting breaks Google Movies AFAIK.
You can either stream it or download it to your device (for offline viewing).

Not here. Unlocked/rooted from day one of purchase and Google Movies working fine. I've streamed the free Transformer movie several times.

Not anymore... Use it all the time on my Rooted Nexus 7.
I streamed the Transformer movie, didn't download it. Having it running right now just to make sure nothing has changed... works great.

Hulu Free on the Nexus 7

Hello,
Has anyone found a way to play the free Hulu videos either in the Android Browser or in a modded Hulu app? All the methods I've tried don't seem to work.
I don't have Hulu plus but I'd like to still watch the Hulu free videos that I normally can via my PC on my Nexus 7. Thanks!

I was curious about that too. What methods have you been trying?
Haven't tried Hulu, but Crackle works well, as does EpixHD (if you have it on your TV).
Splashtop to your desktop PC should work in most cases.

I've tried some method that edits libflashplayer.so, a cracked flash APK, and a couple init.d scripts but none work. Maybe its a JB issue?
And I would use Splashtop but I don't want to need to have my home PC on as well. If I could keep it on-device for the most part, it would be great

[Q] Amazon Instant Video

Anyway to get that working? I tried searching, but the search box on the HD app is god awful. Anyone have a modified apk or anything, one that'll make it work on here? I'd really like to get it working

Only if you get a kindle fire. In a nutshell, it is heavily tied into their OS, which is not stock android and will not work outside of that environment. The only way you'll ever see it on the Nexus 7 is if Amazon releases it a s standalone apk..
For now, you have to just use the website.

I've been watching various threads on this one for weeks. I'm hopeful that Amazon will release an app for the rest of us soon given that 1) they just released an app for Google TV, and 2) they make most of their money from media, not Kindle hardware....so I'm hoping the speculation that they are limiting it to the Kindle for competitive reasons, is false.
The only way I've been able to watch Amazon VOD is by loading flash and using Firefox. It works, but it is FAR from ideal.

To clarify, the Google TV app only works on two LG television sets. It does not work on any other Google TV devices.

Understood....I guess my point was more that they are still releasing android apps, even though there is speculation out there that they want to limit android access to the Kindle. A while back there was the same speculation about iDevices, but now we have both an iPad and iPhone/Pod app. I'm hopeful we'll have one soon....
I hope someone figures this out soon.
I am on the 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, and my clock is ticking.
I won't stay with Prime unless it can replace Netflix for streamed movies.

Amazon's selection of free stuff to stream isn't as extensive as Netflix, I've found. At least not in what I like to watch. They do, however, have a lot of things that Netflix doesn't have. We split a Prime membership with my brother but I don't intend on getting rid of our Netflix or even Hulu+ memberships just yet.

[Q] Netflix and youtube app

Hi,
So xbmc on the ouya is pretty much the best experience i´ve gotten so far on a small setup! love it.
But when i install the netflix apk, its really hard / impossible to navigate with the D-pad, plus the quality of the stream seems to be aimed at mobile phones. Anyone gotten a better APK where you can browse with the d-pad and get a good quality stream?
And youtube, i managed to install the youtube APK, and the streams are looking great, but i cant login, plus it seems i just find the stock mobile version, ive heard that the google tv is alot better, but does it enable log in as well?
Sorry for the wall of text, but these are the 2 missing features i really want.
I have installed the tv versions of both apps and they are easier to navigate. No problem logging in but I do have the google store mod.
Netflix quality can be poor at times.

This was the same version I had already. It still doesn't work well with controller without touch pad and quality still sucks for a tv unfortunately
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Did you ever figure this out? My wife hates me for putting for taking out our ****ty streamer and replacing it with the Ouya. On Netflix, can't scroll through right or left when picking when you want to watch and can't scroll down to select episodes of TV shows when there is more than 5-6.

The easiest solution I have found it just have a bluetooth mouse. You can just drag the screen up and down, etc as if you were touching the screen. It works pretty well.
Or you can use the touchpad of the controller to scroll. Double tab and then drag up. It's a bit sluggish but it works.
The only problem I have is that the playback stops if the controller turns itself off.
using netflix apk 1.8.1
i got the 1.8.1 working with no playback issues, and with some use of ouya control, does not pause when the control turns off.
My only gripe is the subtitles are very small... can any dev can do a modified netflix 1.8.1 apk with bigger fonts?
