YouTube app - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has Google updated the YouTube 10-inch app just for Andy 4.2? The one I've got running on my Infinity looks nothing like the one on the phone and hybrid UIs, plus features are missing (like recommended vids).

How YouTube looks is based on the DPI setting in your build.prop. On the N10 it'll be the same layout as your Infinity by default, i.e. standard tablet mode.

What I meant was that the tablet mode of YouTube seems a bit outdated and it is missing features, I was wondering if Google had changed that.

Dolphin Pad Browser

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that there is a great new Honeycomb browser available in the market from the Dolphin team called Dolphin Pad. I've been using it for a few minutes now and I've gotta say that it's the smoothest 3rd party browser i've tried. Give it a try and post your thoughts.
Cheers
EDIT: I can confirm that HD content from amazon instant video & youtube play silky smooth
do u mean..the dolphin hd 6.0??

Nope! Dolphin Pad https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dolphin.browser.pad
Im on it as we speak. It does seem kinda promissing in speed but had it 10 minutes using xda in the new mode with no hasitation
After using this a whole day and comparing it to say stock browser im back to stock.it turns out to be faster .sometimes the dolphin pad freezes right at the end of loading some web sites. I think its a flash or Java issue as sometimes it seems as thou its a add that is stooping it.
With that said it is in beta I sent Dev a message its promising
search dolphin pad in market to get
Can somebody please post the apk. Thanks

How's it so different from the regular dolphin HD browser?
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Just DLed it and spent the last 30 minutes putting it through its paces. One weird random close, but otherwise very smooth and fast. Does a good job even on CNN flash videos, and the gesture feature seems a bit more accurate than the 6.0 HD I was using.

To be honest, I haven't been using Dolphin HD so I'm not qualified to compare the two. I definitely suggest trying it out though!
So not for us with 10" tablets running Android 2.2? Shame.
Dolphin HD I've noticed when you scroll down, you lose the tabs. With DolphinPad, they stay. Also, Fullscreen on Pad seems better, can't really describe it. Pad doesn't have that annoying gesture thing on the bottom either. Swiping side to side for shortcuts seems more fluid. Flash works well. Just seems much more optimized for the tablet. Settings layout is much better imho. Overall, Pad = Win in my eyes. I'm coming from the Asus Transformer, but I can only imagine similar performance for the Iconia.

I tried it for about an hour, then removed it. Can't find how to use gestures, and rendering on some sites sucks compared to dolphin browser HD.

It is a very promising browser and a distinct upgrade over Dolphin HD 6. However, I couldn't find a quick way to import bookmarks from Dolphin HD and the address bar did not show the "home" icon (or I could not find it), so if anyone from the Dolphin team is reading this, please add these functions.

[POLL] Stock vs tablet workspace

I would like to start this to see how many people use tablet workspace since it seems only a few roms seem to be embracing this. Please state what rom you are using and what you use to trigger tablet mode.

PA 2.1 tablet ui (mid).
Don't like roms that shrink the nav bar too much either!

Stock, rooted 4.1.1 here.
Used the local.prop DPI setting to get it into tablet mode and use the app "Set Orientation" to force the last remains (like lockscreen) into landscape for total tablet experience to my likes
Also I'm using GoLauncherEx, which works fine for me landscaped.
Alot of you are using a depreciated method of forcing tabUI by using dpi hacks. IMHO only sgt7 and PA are the only seamless roms that do this well. PA also lets you choose the navbar height independently.
Personally I would never run phabletUI on my tablet. That sounds funny

I wouldn't call it "depricated", I'd call it "the savest and most less intrusive way".
I don't want to flash a different ROM and I don't have to edit any system files - #1 way of doing it for me. And it works just fine

It may seem like its working fine but when I did it that way many apps were gone from my market (google play music, wallet off the top of my head) and the copy/paste bar was nowhere to be found when editing text.

About the apps, maybe I just got lucky so far and the ones I use on my N/ don't set the compatibility stuff in the way that makes them appear to be incompatible with the N7.
About the copy/paste bar, I just tried and yes, it's "gone" like you say.
But I use GoKeyboard and that has copy/paste buttons as well, so I can live with that for now

maybe because the Korean version is already released, it has a newer version witch supports this feature, and the intl' will also support it.
but its not based on anything.. only me :cyclops:
I also think that the craftsmen will find a way)
That will be really disappointing if its only on the Korean Note 2.
After watching the videos of it yesterday I was definitely going to purchase the Galaxy Note 2 on launch day in the UK. But if its not a supported feature in the EU/N7100 models then I think I will hold off.
The multiscreen feature is also available in hong kong's note 2, which is an international version.

This looks awesome. However when I was watching it I was thinking "Sweet!!! I can finally answer texts while browsing the internet!" But after looking at the apps in the side bar I didn't see sms in there. So I wonder what apps will be supported in this feature and if it will be possible to incorporate mods to get other apps to work.
That's an awesome feature. Hopefully the international version also has this.
But if it doesn't has, i still go for the Note II

Sms is present as an option. in the first video, i can see the sms icon below the gallery icon. Samsung should be highlighting that feature because it brings a desktop like view to the note. Definitely ordering now. was going to wait to see the new nexus and features of the next version of Android, but this just sealed the decision.

My mistake, I'm using 'ultimate rotation control'.
It works great on my galaxy note 1.
One of the big reasons I'm using it is it allows 180 degree rotation so I'm not always hitting the capacitive buttons.

That is an amazing feature but of all the Note 2 videos I have seen, it's the first one I have seen that has that (half-circular) tab on the left side of the screen. Looks like it's brought up by holding the 'back button'. I wonder if its just that no one knows about this 'shortcut' to open this feature. Or could this be an updated version of TouchWiz we are seeing?
I think you can enable the multi-window from the settings, because it make sense that not everybody want to have the half circle on left border by default.
Lets hope it is available in the international version
So are we saying that stock launcher on note 2 doesnt rotate landscape??

I use Tablet Mode. It's better suited for a larger display and I like it, mainly because I don't like the Phablet mode.
The drop down notification bar is nasty. Why is it not full screen?
I like the combined Navigation bar with the Status Bar. It saves space on the screen because there is one less bar.
I have a Galaxy Nexus. Using phablet mode makes me feel like I'm just using a large phone.
There is a reason I like having a TABLET and a PHONE separately. If I wanted a phablet, I'd just get Galaxy Note, where this Phablet mode would actually make sense. Leave the 7"+ tablets to the tablet mode.
IMO.
Tablet UI for me
I like both modes, what I don't like is that my notification bar, I can't change any settings like WiFi, Brightness and etc.
All I get mostly is crap ads from leadbolt
Try these.

I don't know why people are wanting to root and mod their N7s. I did my Galaxy S 1 because Samsung had abandoned it but I can't see a need to do anything to my N7 when it's running so well and on the latest stock firmware.
There's only one minor thing that annoys me and that's the inability to control how many home screens the launcher uses. Very odd that Ginger Bread allowed this but not Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. But that's not enough for me to go away from stock.

Can't get tablet UI for Youtube on Paranoid Android 3

I'm having this problem,
I can set the tablet UI for the launcher and the system UI, but when I want to set per app settings, most of them has a maximum of 720p, in this case youtube, so I can't get true tablet UI for it (since I have to set it at 800p to get it). Is there a problem in the rom? do i need to do anything? I'm using the latest release with the new Halo feature.
Thanks in advance.
If you're talking about the old 3D version of YouTube, Google removed it from the app. Stock and highest number ones are the same now.
