Hi, I've got TomTom Navigator 6 installed on my Trinity and it all works fine, except it takes about 5 minutes before it picks up any satellites when I run it - does anybody know if there's a fix to enable to gps chip to pick up satellites a bit quicker than this? Even when I'm outside and away from tall buildings it's the same. Any help or suggestions would be great.

it will save a couple of minutes
aquiring a satellite regardless of whether you're using an internal gps antenna or an external bluetooth antenna usually takes a few minutes when you are booting it cold (ie.. turning it on initally) There really isnt any way around this that I know

Try your GPS antenna with an other software or with a GPS diagnostic.
I am 99% sure your GPS antenna does not work properly or at least try your tom tom with an other antenna.
Info : GPS antenna have to connect with 3 or more satellite to determine the position.
Just wondering... when I go camping far up north, there's no reception on my HTC TyTN. But, using a bluetooth GPS receiver I'm able to navigate with my TOMTOM or Google Maps. Now just wondering... since there's GPS reception, any way to use this GPS reception for phone calls? Somehow? There are GPS phones out there right? So what about making this work?
By GPS, I guess I meant Satellite.

Hi - no you would need a completley separate phone to do this. As far as I remember calls are quite expensive.

Just an FYI. Your GPS receiver can only receive signals from the satellites. It can't send them to the satellite, so no two way communication would be possible even if they used the right satellites.

You probably meant that "it can't send them".
Hi everyone, I just tried my Freedom Input Keychain GPS 2000 bluethooth GPS receiver on my HD, the one with the MTK chipset. I have been using it with my Touch for quite a while. I noticed that when I use the internal GPS on the HD that I was not gettting what Garmin calls a differential lock or WAAS satellites. I was dissapointed to find that I get them with the blue tooth GPS. Has anyone else gotten WAAS with the HD? I flipped back and forward between the two for a while and with few exceptions got a differential lock on the BT but not never with the internal GPS on the HD.

Can you turn off AGPS from settings in the phone? I think (I will check as soon as I finish this response) that I have it dissabled via HD Tweak.

I shared my Nexus Ones gps via bluetooth to my A43, it was very simple and worked with any program I used.
I did a search and had found some usb bluetooth receivers around $50-60, probably don't need anything special to get the job done.

I use a hama bluetooth gps with Google navigation.
I intend to port my own aviation navigation software as soon as I get some time

I use an iBlutooth gps receiver and it works with google and Oruxmaps, no problem.
Check out Orux maps for use with aviation. He has PC software to import geo-referenced charts. It works great with charts from FAA Aeronav. It's one of the main things I bought my tablet for. I was using my phone in the cockpit.

I used NDrive and Google Maps on my A43, I use Sygic Aura on my Nexus One (actually bought this one, it is really nice and in the general Android Apps & Games forum I started a thread of discount codes). Ndrive is a little more friendly to the resistive screen as its controls are larger and easier to hit.

On the Archos: Bluetooth GPS by Googoo Android.
On my phone (an Eris): Bluetooth GPS Output by Meowsbox.
Both are free on the market, but "output" is limited to 10 minutes. If it works, its only about $1.60 for the full version.
Turn on bt on both devices, start output on phone, then start the one on the Archos. Pair and connect. Once you start seeing the readings on the Archos, you can start Google Maps and navigate! Google Maps will kick you to the settings to choose "choose bluetooth gps".

Papago X5 failed on my 101 as well, but NavDroyd and Sygic Aura work like charm.

Globalsat bt-359 is a nice size, works well and is the best GPS I have ever used.
I use my wm phone MWG Zinc II as the gps receiver, the wm phone install the app gpsgate to become a bluetooth gps receiver, then use google map in archos to connect to the wm phone through the bluetooth.

Did the same thing with my old Omnia...using GPS2Blue...works with CoPilot, Google navigation & Sygic Aura (only 3 tested so far...
Tried phone but takes longer to fix, much worse sensativity in bad signal areas.
Plus I want phone for tethering sometimes
The bt-359 is amazing. Seconds to fix (warm start) indoors (none of my other GPS devices work in house). Also worked in a city, in car with coated windscreen with GPS just chucked in pocket down beside gearstick (also dropped in same location on another car the other day it didn't loose signal once).

I can't even connect. I can pair the devices but thats it, its not actually connected. If I long press on the nexus one device entry the only option that comes up is unpair. Anyone else get this?
Its identical if I try it from Archos to Nexus one i.e. the N1 has paired with the archos, but there is no option to connect.

It will keep saying that connect but not fair until you start your GPS software if you configure the GPS correctly.
Hey guys,
I see that the nexus 7 play store says it has GPS. Is it similar to the real gps that we get in phones or will it work with wifi signals only?
Jelly Bean supports offline maps, so is it possible that I can save a city offline and use it beyond the range of the wifi?
Also, Will BT tether work with this device? I have a Nokia E5, but with a joikuspot wifi hotspot, battery drains in 3-4 hours..is it possible to connect the nokia and the nexus 7 through bluetooth?

If BT Tether works with other Android tablets there's no reason to think it wouldn't on JB/Nexus 7. Maybe someone who tried it can confirm.
Bluetooth tether DOES work! I saw it with my own eyes last night.
